Coaching for Performance
I have used this book and a previous book of the authors to assist me in teaching their 3day course in a large company. The book is practical and presents the coaching process as a story the reader gets involved in as he/she is getting involved in the 8 Step Process in the classroom. A number 1 learning tool. It also serves as excellent independent reading as a how-to book which captures the reader's interest.

Excellent 8-step process on "How-to" be a business coach
Short - easy to read and filled with concrete "how-to" information on a collaborative process for facilitating change in someone's performance. The author's 8-step model is based on 20 years research into the "best practices" of successful business performance managers. Very common sense and practical.

A Good Start for Newly Engaged Couples
A few months back I got engaged to a awsome Christian women. We wanted to find a bible study or devotional to do togeather. After looking at the different christian book stores there were not alot of choices. I find this devotional bible a good start for anyone who is newly merried and engaged. The devotionals take only about 20 min to do and they have great "get to know you" questions that you can ask each other so you can learn from each other. The bible is a great size to take to college, in the car and to church.

Good for new Christian Couples
This Bible has substantive devotions for couples serious about getting to know each other better.

One engaging read!
I was first assigned this book as required reading by one of the authors, Dr. Alfonso Montuori (who also happens to be my academic advisor). Now that you know my relation to the author and my possible bias, let me tell you how wonderful this book is.

From Power to Partnership offers an inspiring glimpse at how people across disciplines are enacting the Partnership way of being as espoused by Riane Eisler in the Chalice and Blade. The authors describe Eisler's basic principles of Partnership Social Systems and then proceed to offer examples of Partnership ways of being and doing in relationships, culture, education, and in connection with the environment. This book brings to life the Dominator-Partnership paradox and continuum.

Interviews with real people are eloquently weaved with factual information and the author's own voices to keep the reader interested in- and reflective upon- the world situation today and the impending paradigm shift in how we relate to one another. My husband, a musician, found the book extremely interesting and motivating. He passed the book along to other musicians, several educators, and a few home school families. All of those folks have found the information both eye opening and reinforcing of their own values.

Though the book was written some ten years ago, the information remains extremely relevant. As we continue to live in a world plagued by war and disease we are more in need of Partnership values and ways of being then ever before.

A must read if you are creating any partnership
A must read!!! The authors are brillant in mapping out the roadmap to successul partnership. A partnership between you and any other, being a company (alliance, joint venture, acquisition) or you and a loved one. Check out Fast Company Magazine in November 1998 -- which Partnership will be featured.

This book is awesome!
Most of the nonprofit "help" books are very dry, but this one is very readable. The information is extremely helpful and directly addresses the difficulties that we have to overcome in fundraising, particularly the "I hate to ask people for money" syndrome. I love that in places, the author says, "here is the attitude you may have.. but... get over it!" and then proceeds to tell you how TO approach things with humor and good advice. If you do fundraising or work with a group that does fundraising, you will find great information and ideas in this book!

Best fundraising book on the market
A thoughtful, humorous account of the world of grassroots fundraising. The author brings her experience, warmth and humor to this very important book on fundraising. It is an excellent tool for non profit agencies. I recommend it for any non-profit agency staff member or volunteer board member that wants to break out of the fundraising doldrums into fundraising excellence.

Please note above review
One of the above "reviews" was accidently listed as a review and has given the book zero stars when in fact it is comments from the author. The book was fantastic.

Getting Partnering Right
I am in the process of establishing partnerships with our firm's suppliers and subcontractors so that we may improve the service that we provide to our customers. The first step in the process is to be sure that our suppliers and subcontractors understand the concept of partnering for a win-win agreement. "Getting Partnering Right" is by far the best explanation of what I am trying to accomplish that I have read. After an initial meeting, I ask our potential partner to read the book and to call me when he has read it.Without exception, all have stated that "Now I get it". In a follow-up interview it is very easy to tell if they really do "get it". So far I have purchsed 28 copies for distribution to potential partners and to some our own employees. In addition, some of our partners have purchased more copies for distribution within their own companies. Maybe this one should be rated 6 stars!!

Inside the Mirage: America's Fragile Partnership With Saudi Arabia

The discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia led to a relationship between the Saudis and Americans that made all the sense in the world and, at the same time, no sense at all. Economically, it was a dynamic and effective model. The Americans were able to purchase more oil as car ownership in the United States escalated throughout the 20th century, meanwhile the Saudis were able to take that money and use it to buy all the latest products and technology from the Americans and transform their country from a pre-industrial kingdom a bustling modern civilization (complete, today, with Starbucks, McDonalds, and shopping malls). Making all this happen, however, meant situating thousands of American civilians in a country in which they simply did not fit. Veteran Middle East scholar and journalist Thomas Lippman's Inside the Mirage examines the 70-year history of the Saudi-American relationship. While he touches on the troubling issues that came to light after the events of 9/11, Lippman's exploration of the quasi-suburban world inhabited by American employees and their families proves most fascinating. Many Americans profiled seem to have been transported out of an old episode of Leave it to Beaver and dropped, in tact, in the middle of a desert nation, dwelling in cordoned off communities and having little contact with the Saudis outside of what was professionally necessary. Cultural and religious differences provide stark contrast between the Americans and the fundamental form of Islam practiced by the Saudi royal family and prevalent throughout the kingdom. These differences combined with the inherent pressures of great wealth and big business to form a relationship that is vitally important to both countries but that was tenuous to begin with and, as Lippman explains has remained so ever since. --John Moe

Put this on your list
A well researched and well documented book by a veteran expert. Lippman has been studying and writing about the Middle East for a long time. Inside the Mirage benefits from his extensive travels and interviews. It is an eye opening, people oriented account. Read The Complete Idiot's Guide to Understanding Saudi Arabia to get an overview. Read this one to delve deeper.

Indispensible
Lippman presents readers a unique, detailed, highly readable and timely look at Saudi Arabia. This book is a needed starting point or supplement for readers striving the understand the role of traditional society, petroleum, development and politics on the Saudi-US relationship.

This is the new and indispensible tome for the library of any serious scholar of Saudi relations with the United States.

Stands alone as a managment book
I'm amazed that this book hasn't been discovered by more people.

It is clear that the author's view on valuing employees passes the real-world test because, unlike the many management consultants and academicians who have written primarily theoretical works, Melohn actually delivered outstanding business performance through the implementation of his approach.

If you're only going to read one book on this topic, you've just found it.

A refreashing outlook on empowering people
The author has a rare view of himself in corporate America. He sees himself as a servant to the people and works on drawing out the best in them. I loved the book because it is proof the managing and directing a force of people through values works! Perhaps the best aspect of the book is that he gives practical steps to incorporate these steps in a organization. However he makes it clear that unless the leaders of a organization embrace these values the efforts of others really wont' matter. He calls leaders to the carpet. You can't expect things (values, work ethic etc) from others until you do it yourself and model it consistently. Personally I have never worked for someone like Tom, however I would love the chance to.

LLC simple
I recently bought this book and found it to be very informative and to the point. I looked at other books, but most were wordy. My time is limited and I needed a book that would provide me the info without the fluff. There is a good state information section that provides info like Addresses, URLs, Legal URLs, Name Requirements, and form descriptions. The actual forms are not provided but the resource is given. I would recommend this book for someone looking for enough information to answer your questions and give you guidance in going forward.

Very informative
This book breaks what you need to know to form an LLC down nicely and easily by chapter. You can skip around if you'd like, but I wanted to make sure I knew everything about the topic and read it straight through. Full of helpful examples to illustrate the concepts just presented. Definitely recommend to others looking to learn about corporate structures and most specifically, the LLC.

Partners.com: How to Profit from the New DNA of Business

Michael Cunningham believes online alliances are one of the most effective tools for developing the power and leverage needed to prosper in today's business world. An avid practitioner of such arrangements in his own Harvard Computing Group consulting firm, Cunningham presents a strong argument for these affiliations, along with a comprehensive guide to their creation in Partners.com. "Today, it is no longer possible for firms to do it all alone," he writes. "Whether it is hardware for a computer system, a hosting service to provide e-commerce capabilities, or a distribution partner that will sell and service products, partners are essential." Showing precisely why these associations are particularly potent in areas like sales, finance, and distribution, Cunningham details the steps involved in their formation and implementation, beginning with the partnership he considers most essential: the one that must be forged between organizations and their employees before any of these others can even hope to succeed. Drawing upon winning coalitions created by B2B and B2C endeavors such as eBay, GoFish.com and Convistint, Cunningham then delves into everything from the technology involved to the contracts required. The result is a thorough examination aimed at those serious about finding innovative ways to improve their operations. --Howard Rothman

A REAL WORLD GUIDE TO PARTNERSHIPS
Complex topics such as partnerships tend to be covered in a very fragmented manner. Partners.com does not have this problem. Cunningham ably deals with the people, process, technology and market issues that forge partnerships, but also how to manage, measure and change them. Rarely are these areas covered in sufficient detail, but here there is a roadmap with milestones and strategies that are working in the marketplace. Partners.com does for partnerships what Patti Seybold's Customers.com did for customer relationships. A classic!

Don't be fooled by the .com in the title- this is for all
This book is a prize! For those that are looking for the details behind partnerships the information here is not only relevant, but very comprehensive. The mixture of technology, strategy and culture required to pull of good partnerships is difficult for organizations trying to make it happen. Cunningham provides not only a great roadmap, but illustrated with real world examples of what has and has not worked. Do not be fooled by the .com in the title, this book is targeted at all businesses. I particularly liked the sections on self-service Partnerships and the "most important partners, your staff". A practical piece with great strategic insight. Organizations will be able to use this to hone their competitiveness, internal and external consultants will buy to emulate all that has been learned on this topic.

Partnering Paradigm is Excellent
Ed Rigsbee's new book about partnering, and his emphasis on profiting from the partnering trend, is cutting-edge stuff. It's right on the mark, well written, and very practical. I particularly like his chapter on partnering with the competition. He's the guru on this topic.

Where one plus one equals more than two
"Partnering" is where two or more dissimilar business entities promote the others for their own good. This book explains partnering, helps you identify the best partners, warns of partnering pitfalls, and coaches you in establishing profitable relationships.

In addition to partnering with other companies, the book describes partnering with your suppliers, customers and even your employees. It is full of examples and guidelines. For coverage, click on Table of Contents in the left-hand column of this page.

Ed Rigsbee is a gifted writer, successful marketer and electrifying professional speaker.

As a publisher, author of 113 books (including revisions and foreign-language editions) and over 500 magazine articles and a consultant to the publishing industry, I recommend this book to publishers, the self-employed and business owners. It will expand you thinking about marketing. DanPoynter@ParaPublishing.com.
