Realistic story with likeable characters
This is the first book I've read by Ms. Drogin, but it won't be the last. In fact, her subsequent Zebra Bouquet, The Right Choice, is in my To Be Read stack.

Perfect Partners takes two people, both lawyers, who have each suffered the loss of a sibling and thrusts them together for the good of their little niece. Neither hero nor heroine comes into the arrangement without baggage. In order to help the little girl deal with the loss of her mother and father, her aunt and uncle agree to set aside their differences for her welfare. How they work things out and arrive at the final solution is heart wrenching at times.

The author did a wonderful job of creating two 'real people' leads whom I bonded with immediately. Their interactions with each other, their individual emotonal scars and the healing process involved in getting past them were all well-written.

Although this book is out-of-print, it's well worth the reader's time and effort to find it.

A perfect partnering of plot and characterization!
Attorneys Chelsie Russell and Griff Stuart need niece Alix in their lives. Chelsie is determined not to lose her dead sister's little girl, but she fears the emotional loss when her help is no longer needed.

Griff is determined to be the parent Alix needs, but he soon find out he needs Chelsie, too.

Karen Drogin has penned a multi-layered tale of internal conflict and spousal abuse--relevant topics in today's world--but she hasn't shortchanged her readers in the romance department. Perfect Partners sizzles with sexual tension as this story tumbles to its happy conclusion.

Lost Sleep
What a great book! I didn't want to stop reading so I stayed up too long at night and lost sleep. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and also the element of business mixed in with romance. It keeps you guessing up to the end. This book would make a great movie!

A Great Read
For those of us who often enjoy escaping into a really good
mystery/romance this book is a must!

Must Read
Silent Partners is an outstanding novel! The characters and plot make it a must read. I couldn't put it down and I didn't want it to end. It starts with a bang and keeps the reader guessing all the way to the end. Anyone that likes a great suspense thriller and a good love story will love Silent Partners. I can't wait for the next novel by E. Jeffett

Finally! A relief to understand!
The author describes in detail what kind of actions from a parent can create an inappropriate dependency from a child, the resulting feelings that can stay with the child and the patterns of behavior through adulthood that follow. Subtle things that might seem innocent in a parent's mind can actually cross a line into inappropriate territory with a child and his/her development. The child may feel "icky," but also privileged to have such special attention from the parent.

The author offers advice for recovery and gives very clear statements about what must happen in order for the adult survivor of covert incest to make healthy changes and free him/herself from binding dependencies.

I purchased this book based on a recommendation on a message board. Wow! I am filled with relief to suddenly realize why I feel this way and why there are these inexplicable patterns in my life. The biggest relief of all is to know I'm not alone and that my odd feelings about my parents are not unjustified. I read it and said, "Finally! Now I know what is wrong!"

If you feel guilty about setting limits on your parents, this book is for you. If you are having difficulty connecting with your spouse and find yourself connecting more with your kids, please read this book.

Illuminating the Roller-Coaster Relationship
I was blown away by the down-to-earth descriptions of "psychological marriage" with a parent, how it develops and how it affects future romantic relationships. I was comforted to be able to understand, yet challenged to take action. It explained all of my recent relationship dilemnas with my partner so much that I felt it was written about us. I was comforted to realize that there were real reasons for our problems and yet, I feel scared to open up this topic for discussion between us. My partner has limited insight. Thank you for helping me see that I am not imagining things or going crazy!

Do NOT miss this book
The single most important thing I have read in my adult life. It's scary but helpful to find oneself being totally described in the pages of a book...and I found this happening to me here.

No More Writer's Block
Double Your Creative Power has done more to jump start my writing than any other writing book I've read. I used to use writer's block as an excuse; now I know that it truly doesn't exist. Mr. Stebel has proven to me that there are a myriad of exciting and meaningful story ideas just waiting to be let out, and his fascinating exercises are designed to do just that.

This is not your typical "how-to" book. It is full of unique insights, fantastic examples, entertaining vignettes, and real concrete advice as to how to unleash the story-teller inside. I recommend Double Your Creative Power not just to other writers, but to anyone who is interested in the creative process. This book is a gem!

A great read
Mr. Stebel's discussion of the secret story technique for mining story ideas was especially intriguing. Whether you decide to adopt this technique or not, he drives home the point that you have to access what's inside you in order to find stories that resonate universally.

The book is clear and concise, and owning it is like having a reliable compass by your side. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

A "Must-Have" Guide For Fiction Writers
S.L.Stebel's book "Double Your Creative Power!" is a must-have guide for any person who is serious about writing fiction. Don't read it just once and put it on a shelf! Keep it next to your computer, your desk, or reading chair and use it on a regular basis. This book should be read in full every six to twelve months; with each reading it teaches new techniques and insights to the creative process and how to use it, it reminds writers about what they already know, re-energizes their imaginations, and stimulates the creative juices. S.L.Stebel really knows how to tell a story. I agree with Ray Bradbury that Sid Stebel is the best writing teacher there is.

Perfect overview book for medicine students
This book is strongly recommended in the education for medical students in the University of Lund. That's why I read it. It's perfect as a startup book for your pre-clin medical studies. It's not deep enough in the physiology part (although anatomy and especially histology is very good) but the integrated approach is really terrific and it makes you understand in a whole new way. If you want to become a good doctor, you should absolutely buy this book, or borrow it a least in your library. The first integrated anatomy & physiology book I've read that's deep enough for medical students. Good work Seeley.

Dr. Seeley makes the complex simple
I had the pleasure of not only getting to use this text in my A&P class but I was taught by Dr. Seeley at Idaho State University. Great text with great explinations. I am still using it as a resource in Physician Assistant training.

Excellent Basics of Anatomy and Physiology
I am sure that people who have read this book will agree that this product is the means of excellent basic Anatomy and Physiology. I have found figures and data tables very clear and easily understandable. Excellent Summaries at the end of each chapter beautifies this product. Clinical facts given from time to time are as interesting and knowledgeable as "Develop Your Reasoning Skills" Problems. This book deserve a chance from every Anatomy student. I conratulate the authors and highly recommend this book.

short, easy and interesting read
This book was a really interesting and thought provoking first contact with the Jungian concepts of projection, anima and animus and the roles (positive and negative) they play in intimate, heterosexual relationships.

It was a really wonderful read with lots of good and easy explanations (theoretical and practical) of the concepts and it's manifestations. And a wonderful outline of a positive and workable approach to dealing with projections and what their purpose is (in a nutshell, first to break through the barrier that exists between to people and secondly and more often than not just a way of your unconscious to tell you what you have to work on with yourself {if you have strong bigger-than-life-women projections --> get in touch with your inner female/emotions. If you have bigger-than-life-men projections --> get in touch with your inner man/creativity/strive; if you have are heavily attracted to artistic partners it might be that your own artistic potential needs to be worked out).

On the more negative side:
It seemed to treat the male/anima side of the whole equation a lot more indepth than the female/animus part. And there is hardly anything about people who don't match their own gender archetype much or to be more concrete match their opposite gender archetype more than their own. Which might be a result of it being a bit dated by now and it's shortness of only 120 pages.

I as well enjoyed the treatment of at the time rather current discussions about if men and women both have anima and animus. Or if their occurence is gendered.

All in all an excellent introduction though!

Invisible Partners
Whenever friends plan to get married and we begin to think of gifts this book comes to mind. We were encouraged to read this when in couples counseling in the early months of our marriage 12 years ago. What a help it was for us. I realize that it would be good to read it again everytime someone we know begins those steps toward marriage.

Set me free from homophobia.
Because of dreams and thoughts that would come to me , I stayed away from developing male friendships because I did not know that I had an unmet need for an emotional attachment with a man.I confused this emotional need with sexual desire so I kept my distance from all men. Not having an emotional attachment with my father left part of me unsatisfied and seeking that attachment. This book helped me see that my yearning was not for sex but for a closeness that was denied me as a boy.

when I was decided to continually follwed Lin's path........
Wilma Fairbank catched my nurves of impression this time, when I found out there is a book described Liang and Lin's acheivement in English, the only one,an expensive one,but it worthes it.I decided to continually followed Lin's way,to do some research of classical Chinese architecture.I'd never said no to those difficulties since the obstancles always mislead my mind. There is one thing I hopefully didn't lost,a resoluted heart, nothing can move it.I don't care make more money or not,at least I mostly convinced myself to be a person have a pursuit of dreams. You could call me a freak, and I am still on the way to success.Lin and liang are the partners worked together to reach a goal.Unfortunatelly,I am an indepandent loner also emerged in the amazement of exploring a lost world. Thanks for Wilma's book,I could come trough the tunnel of history again.

Genuine Chinese Architects
Lin & Liang are forrunners of contemporary Chinese architecture. Like most idealistic intellectuals of the period, they went out to learn from the west and returned back home to contribute what they had learned.

This is an important trend in modern Chinese history. The long list of intellectuals includes Sun Yat Sen, Liang Qi Chao(the father of Liang)Chao Yuan Ren, Zhou En Lai, Tang Xiao Ping,.... It was a traumatic period for modern China. It was a time of possibilities, opportunities and frustrations.

One could not imagine the archievement and contributions of modern China to the world without these intellectuals.

The stories as told by Madame Wilma Fairbank is descriptive, touching and informative at the same time. Mrs. Fairbank(wife of John Fairbank) is a poet and historian at the same time. The book (text and images)is western journalism at its best.

The most difficult period for Lin & Liang is not Sino-Japanese War period. Although physically, Lin suffered from fleeing around and illness, but their spirit were high and friends were always around.

The most difficult period was after the liberation. Lin & Liang were destined to work with Chairman Mao, the founder of PRC. Based on their fruitful research and intellectual mind, they come up with the conclusion and dedicated their lives to the preservation of Chinese artefacts, and in most cases, Chinese architectural heritage.

As detailed descripted and well put by Madame Fairbank in the book, Lin & Liang travelled all over China and had produced hundreds and thousands of research papers with surveyed plans and photos. Wilma should have known, she joined and lived with them more than once. The Liangs' ideal and proposals to preserve holistically the ancient city of Beijing must had been in conflict with Chairman Mao's ideas. As the founder of PRC, Mao of course, would have his own plans. He believes, to me wrongly, that "Man would defeat Nature". He would like to see factories and other new buildings rising on the horizons of Beijing, Nanjing and everywhere in China.

This should be a matter of opinion. But as we all know, for a long period of time in contemporary China, a different opinion with Mao would be interpreted as a revisionist liner against the Communist Party! That's why Liang suffered so much and Lin died too young to suffer with him.

This is an important historic lesson that we, as a human being should all learn and study. Through the process of modernization, how should we deal with our heritage and nature? Liang proposed to preserve Old Beijing holistically. Beijing, as observed by Liang rightly, is the most complete form of an ancient city in the world! He is not an old man keeping only the 'Olive Tree'. Lin and Liang are genuine Chinese Architects. They proposed to preserve the old city walls and towers so that they could become civi open spaces and landscapes. People can enjoy history and live in history walking through.

Liang's second wife, Madame Lin Zhu said recently,"In the civic society, Liang is respected by many." Well put Madame Lin. (Lin Zhu's piece is included in the book also very moving.)

The problem is, it takes a few thousand years to build a civi society and a civiization, only takes a few second to destroy them. Should we not give deep thoughts to it.

A great book written with life!
Anyone who want to know more about Liang Si-chen and Lin Hui-yin and their firends should read this book.

To be honest, I feel what make this book so interesting is the life story of Lin and Liang and their friendship with friends, especially the Fairbanks. The Architecture contents are good too, but the life stories of Lin and Liang, two most important pioneers in Ancent Chinese Architecture studies, make the book very charming and worth of reading.

You will know more about the history of 20th century China, before, during and after WWII. You will see how communists grab power in this used-to-be-great country and gradually turn these respectible scholars' life upside down. How they were changed from eager supporter of Chairman Mao's so called 'New China' into losing the minimal hope to live on. This is a great book, written by John F Fairbank's wife, to memorize their true friendship with Liang and Lin.

This is not just another book about architecture. This is a book written with life.
