Great for prayer life, a little big to tote around
I love this notebook. Great for type A's like me! I love the fact it's big enough to write in...but it's a little big to carry around as an organizer, which is what the back section is meant to be. When I was working the size would have been fine, as I carried a briefcase, but for my regular purse, it's just too big. That's ok...I still keep a running to do list. Becky is very real and keeps you focused on your prayer life. This is a wonderful resource if you want to pray more but don't know how. I used this in conjunction with the "Let Prayer Change Your Life" workbook.

A useful tool
I was a little skeptical because this book struck me initially as the kind of "Christian celebrity" stuff that's typically skimpy on intellectual depth. But the notebook has proved very helpful to me in focusing my prayers and in disciplining myself to pray regularly. Prayer has been something I've intended to do for years, but never managed to sustain until I bought this notebook. I've bought several copies for friends and have seen many positive results in my life.

You can find God!
This prayer journal will radically change your life if you ask God to give you a disciplined heart to use it daily and if you ask Him to teach you how to pray. I did this after hearing Becky speak 4 years ago, and committed at that time to spend an hour/day with the Lord for the rest of my life. Not only has God blessed me with adding more time to my day, but He blessed my life in too many ways to count, and He has added a tremendous amount of joy, love and peace to my life.

Before starting to do this journal, I knew a little bit about God, I was a Christian, attending Church, but my heart was still empty. I had no idea what was in store for me over the next few years! I can now boldly tell you there is this God, the God that created the entire universe, every living cell, every bird that sings, and every mountain that roars, and there is this God who feels, loves, grieves, cries that is desperately waiting to have a relationship with you through His Son Jesus Christ. He has so many blessings for you, that you do not have to wait and walk this crazy life alone! And you can find Him if you seek Him daily through prayer. And if you are not disciplined enough to do this, tell God, and ask Him to draw you there!

God used this journal to teach me the basics of prayer, and then He expanded upon this journal to teach me how to be in an intimate relationship with Him.

God created in us, a longing, an empty spot that He alone can fill. If you are searching the world for fulfillment you will forever be lost. God alone fills our hearts with Himself, and once you meet with Him, and sit at the feet of Jesus, you will wonder whatever took you so long to find Him! Psalm 63 tells us that His love is better than life itself. Seek Him and you will find that this is true! Use this journal and it will forever change your life, when you encounter Him!

Sage advice and wisdom on how to delight your customers.
Chip Bell takes the idea of customer service one step further -- make your customers "partners". Partners have responsibilities and are treated much more like the neighbor next door. Mr. Bell fills this books with lots of stories that underline his key points and make it real. I'm buying copies as Christmas gifts for all my frontline employees.

Highly Recommended!
Chip R. Bell combines the practical with the heartfelt in a top-notch guide to creating a partnership with customers. He focuses on the elements of abundance, trust, dreams, truth, balance, and grace. The book uses intelligent and creative case histories and anecdotes to illustrate these essential components and, therefore, rises above the level of the basic how-to. The author pays close attention to intangible, human relationship concerns. The book is written well in an intimate, yet highly informative style. It weaves stories throughout each chapter. Although we at getAbstract recommend this book for people who deal directly with customers and people who supervise, manage, or lead others in a service-oriented business, the author correctly points out that the book's methods also can enhance anyone's professional and personal relationships.

Simple and easy to read...a read-in-one-sitting book!
Customers as Partners is an enjoyable book that cuts right to the chase on what customer service SHOULD be. This book goes well beyond getting and keeping customers; it is a roadmap for developing lifelong partners. Chip's examples are down to earth and can be related to by everyone from Senior Management right down to the person at the cash register or front desk. You won't find any quality jorgon or terminology here... just plain english thats easy to read in one sitting. Definately a five-star book. Be sure to buy more than one copy if you intend to lend it to a friend because you won't see it again.

John Lennon & Paul McCartney their magic and thier music
"John Lennon & Paul McCartney their magic and thier music" by Bruce Glassman is a great book. I found it very hard to put it down ,because it was a great reference to learn how The Beatles were formed ,by two great song writers. There is also a lot of information on were they grew up and what happend to them in their childhood. You can also find out what pushed Paul McCartney and John lennon to write the music that change the music world. So if you ever want to read a book to find out how PoP music started. I recommend that you read "John Lennon & Paul McCartney their magic and thier music."

AND HERE THEY ARE, THE BEATLES!
This is a book I would have LOVED to have owned as a child. This is a book I love NOW! Glassman does an excellent job of presenting the Beatles to a younger audience and his clear writing style compliments the intelligence of his readers.

The photographs are superb, as is the (I think) world's number one song writing duo, Lennon & McCartney, half of the world's number one band, THE BEATLES! This is such a treat to read. It's just what the doctor ordered and is just so much fun. Don't be surprised if you shake your bangs and start singing Beatle tunes.

I give this a round of thunderous applause and a hearty YEAH, YEAH, YEAH! I love it!

This book is great, has good pictures and interviews.
I couldn't put the book down. I read it from cover to cover without a single stop. Glassman did a good job at putting this one together. Of course almost anything you write about The Beatles will be great though.

hardboiled detective story inside an angst laden drama
In Puerto del Sol in the southwest desert, private sleuth Mick "Brew" Axbrewder feels self loathing and guilt. During an alcoholic stupor, he killed his brother. Adding to his despondency, his detective partner and lover at that time Ginny Fistoulari blew off her hand with a grenade saving his butt from his latest blunder. Though a doubting Thomas about his abilities, Brew struggles with sobriety vowing in a personal covenant to take care of the depressed Gin, who has not mentally recovered from her trauma.

Gin and Brew are hired to protect First Puerta del Sol National Bank Chief Accountant Reg Haskell. He tells them he lost a lot of money gambling at the El Machismo and has been threatened if he fails to pay off his debt. Though they doubt Reg's claim, Brew serves as his personal bodyguard. However as the sleuths investigate his story they find other fabrications and conclude the entire tale is fiction. When several murder attempts occur, Brew and Gin struggle to put aside their personal problems to uncover the person wanting their mendacious client dead.

THE MAN WHO RISKED HIS PARTNER is the second tale of an expansion of novels written in the 1980s under the name Reed Stephens (see THE MAN WHO FOUGHT ALONE). The story line mixes a hardboiled detective story inside an angst relationship drama. Though Reg is a great support character with his changing explanations fun to follow, the tale suffers from an overabundance of negativity. While Gin behaves semi comatose barely living, Brew is the poster boy for guilty loser. Their angst overwhelms a solid private detective tale, depressing the reader.

Harriet Klausner

Excellent mystery, with involving characters
i would expect no less from Stephen Donaldson writing under an asumed name, author of the Gap series, a brilliant mystery novel if you like them this is a good one

The Man Who Risked His Partner
The 2nd book in a 3 book series by Reed Stephens. Brew, feeling responsible for Ginny's disabliity, forces Ginny to take a job as body guards. They almost end up the targets of a mob hit. A great follow up to The Man Who Killed His Brother

LOVE NEEDS NO EXPLANATION...IT JUST IS!
As a counsellor who has studied behavioural psychology, I can attest to the fact it is important for an individual to hold onto their own identity and not live in the shadow of someone's expectations. There is also truth in the fact one must love themselves before they can give or receive love to the fullest. However, it is also equally fulfilling to have someone to share your life with. That is not to say everyone needs a partner to be fulfilled, and in cases where the relationship is not a happy one, life may be more fulfilling without that partnership. The importance is not in finding a partner, but in finding the right partner, a soul-mate who has no desire to control, own or manipulate your life....but to share it.

Those who do have partners and happy, fulfilling relationships will agree that sharing your life with someone is one of life's greatest pleasures and richest treasures. That has been the way of mankind, since the day's of Adam and Eve, and the universal way of telling us we do not have to walk through this life alone unless we choose to do so. This book traces the path of ancient culture and wisdom - the joys and rewards of partners and sharing. We truly do reap what we sow, and the more love we give and share with others, the more we are destined to receive.

In addition to this book, I also recommend reading "Surrendering to Marriage" by Iris Krasnow (which is really not about surrendering but sharing) and "The Mastery of Love" by Miguel Ruiz - both are excellent books on love, sharing and fulfilling one's dreams.

As Seen on TV
Dr. Pearsall was a guest on Montel Williams (4/20/2001). What he had to say about marriage made a lot of sense. We definately do suffer from a me, me, me type society. When married, a couple needs to view themselves as we/us instead of I/me. This is a definate must get book for us (I'm one half of a married couple).

Forget Self
What a joy it was to find and read this book. I'm tired of reading books that are all about me, me, me. I have found that people who are so concerned about their needs, wants and desires are some of the most unhappy people I know. As this book points out, it is those who unselfishly give and share with others are usually full of love and contentment. I found a great book earlier this year that helped me to be more loving, The Romantic's Guide by Michael Webb. I'd highly recommend both books if you really want to improve the love in your life.

Get this book.
As a pastor I strongly recomend that each and every lay person and board member read this book. It is encouraging and insightful, it will challenge each person to a deeper prayer life.

Get the Video Also
This book was released in churches all over America along with an excellent video on creating pastoral prayer teams. I've used the combination to start prayer teams in several churches. If your church does not have an organized team that lifts your pastor in prayer this book will help you create one.

I will be honest about one drawback. This book effectively uses several studies to highlight the struggles many pastors wrestle with. However, some of these studies are now over a decade old.

Very real experiences to back up the principles taught.
This book answers many questions about the value of intercessory prayer. One of the best resources I have every found on making prayer effective in our personal lives and to add power to the pastor and local church.

Great Poetry That Rhymes and Makes Sense!
Following in the grand tradition of New Formalist poets, the author brings his unique contribution to the forefront of poetry that should be read and re-read today. Harking back to Thomas Hardy, W.B.Yeats, Robert Frost,Walter de la Mare, John Masefield, W.H.Auden, A.E.Housman and carrying forward in the footsteps of modern greats like Richard Wilbur, Gjertrud Schnackenburg, Elizabeth Jennings,A.E.Stallings, Dana Gioia, and John Hollander, Mr. Williamson shows he is a poet that is to reckoned with. Although technical prowess is only a necessary, not a sufficient condition to be counted with the masters, Greg is well on his way with the poems selected here. Favorites include Counterfeit and Winter. It would be an even greater tribute to his skill to see some villanelles and sonnets in his next collection. A must have addition to the poetic repertoire of what Yeats called 'words set to life's music'.

A Distinctive New Voice in Poetry
The poems in this volume are rare in contemporary poetry in that they manage to be both clever and moving at the same time. Williamson writes adeptly in regular meter and rhyme, and his take on the world is fresh and often surprising.

Clever, sophisticated and funny
These make me think of snow globes, delightful little worlds in miniature. The topics are clever - the unrecognized artistry of a counterfeiter; the abstract beauty of the world as seen through someone who needs glasses; the historic significance of junkyards full of cars. Because the poems are personal this book would make a nice gift.

Too picturesque...large...
While I can understand the appeal some runners have towards this running log, I personally found it too picturesque with a lot of fluffy details. It is too loaded with other stuff that I think shouldn't be in a log book like all those pictures and quotes. Of course, I guess different people think differently in terms of what makes a good log book. For me, a good logbook is one that is minimalist on the pictures (none the better) and quotes and mainly with space to write down the interval training, long distance runs, pace, heart rate etc. that are essential in a log book.

And the other thing about this book is that it's format is too huge. Half the size would be good.

Flexible, Inspiring, Roomy, and Informative...THE BEST!
The Ultimate Runner's Journal is easily the best log book on the market. I've tried several other logs, and none come close to providing the amount of space available to write about my runs every day. That's why I'm very confused by the previous review--the writer states he wants a lot of room to write. That's exactly what The Ultimate Runner's Journal provides, so his criticism is puzzling to say the least. If you don't like pictures (and I don't know too many people who don't like pictures...), then it is very easy to skip them since they are on their own pages. Maybe what he really needs is a lined college notebook!

The Journal is geared toward all levels of runners--the pace charts go from 5 minutes per mile to 15 minutes per mile. Even brisk walkers could use the pace charts! I also love the quote that starts off each week on the right foot. They are well-chosen to provide inspiration one week, a good laugh another, and offer contemplation yet another week. I thought the articles were excellent as well, particularly the training article by Jack Daniels that is based on his book, Daniels' Running Formula. He tells you exactly how to train from middle distance to the marathon. Very useful. In sum, The Ultimate Runner's Journal easily rates as the best log book available today for runners of every ability--whether you like to write a lot or a little, read some or not at all, and gaze at great pictures, or thumb past them. With this book you have that flexibility, while with others, you don't. The Ultimate Runner's Journal is simply THE BEST!

The Ultimate Log
This is the most versatile and comprehnsive training log on the market. I've used many over the past 25 years and none offered the flexibility to adequately record the variety of information this log allows, heart rate data, routes, cross training, weather, emotions etc. A beautifully orgainized and easy to use, this log takes the grand prize with no others challeging for its place at the top. Wonderful advice is provided by true experts in the field of exercise physiology and training along with easy to use planning charts. This log does more than just record, it allows for review, planning and preparation. Way to go Richard and Dennis, this is a long needed item for every endurance athletes bag.

Essential Study Partner CD-ROM box version t/a Human Biology

Good with ambition, poor with follow through.
This book has potential, but some of the high tech features leave a lot to be desired. The Essential Study Partner CD doesn't work in older CD-ROM drives (my computer is 3 years old) but since it works with either a PC or a Mac so I was able to use my husband's new I-Book, but how many other poor students can upgrade? The on-line tests are downright horrible though. There are numerous times where the answers that were considered incorrect were actually correct, such as being told in the book that osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane and being told by the quiz that it's the diffusion of oxygen. There are other times that it tells you that you put the wrong answer and shows what you had entered as being the correct answer. A little (OK, a lot) of proof-reading prior to publishing would have been very nice, considering that I am getting concerned about remembering the wrong information during a test. The flashcards and matching are very good though and the text doesn't have many more mistakes than I have seen in other textbooks so that's why I am giving it 3 stars.

Got here fine
There was a bit of a delay in the process, but the seller notified me right away and it's exactly what I had wanted.

A perfect book for undergrad who wishes to study physiology
It is brief, detailed, colorful and in conjunction with the related Web-site, (which offers and grades quizes on line) it is PERFECT. Thumbs UP!!!

PS: I haven't checked the Study Guide yet, which is (by the way) not available through the Amazon.com, but I've heard it's pretty good and helpful.

A great first guide for gays and lesbians
...The book is well-written, and organized in such a way that you don't have to read it from beginning to end: you can pick it up, look for a topic you're interested in (or having problems with at the time) and read it. I still have my copy of this book, and still reference it in my new relationship. It helps!

Permanent Partners
I have been in a 'permanent' relationship for 12 years and was/am concerned with the recent shift in my relationship. This book helped me to realize that I am not crazy or alone in some of my thoughts and feelings. It also offered me some constructive tools and techniques in my quest to figure out how to continue this long term relationship rather than bail out!

A Lifesaver for Lasting Gay & Lesbian Relationships
Dr. Berzon shares of her experiences both as a professional relationship counselor and as a lesbian, using fact-based scenarios to explore the common struggles, challenges, and temptations gays and lesbians must overcome when forging committed relationships. Topics include such basic relationship themes as communication skills and conflict resolution, and issues unique to gay & lesbian relationships-from "The Gay National Anthem: 'Why Don't We Just Break Up?'" to legal issues surrounding wills, mortgages, and adoption. As you read, be prepared to see yourself and your relationship in Berzon's stories. You'll finish this book with a renewed desire-and practical, effective know-how-to commit yourself to making your love last.
