You'll Never Be the Same Again
I heard about this book from a friend and decided to buy it. Chapter one, the plight of Nancy and her obsessive relationship with her husband Ron kept me glued to the book. Then I started reading the other case studies which dealt with stalking, sexual addiction and controlling and started to cry. My partner uses so many of these control tactics on me and I never thought about how abusive he was being until I got this book. If you read it, be warned - you may never be the same again!

Changed my life forever!
I recently got found out about this book from a friend and all I can say is God Bless you John Moore. For years I had been caught up in a very controlling, abusive relationship with my husband. I never understood why he treated me the way he did until I read several of the case studies from your book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to find out more about why control happens in relationships. I will treasure this book always and forever!

Spoke to My Soul
I read Moore's book and was very impressed with each of the case studies. In some way, each person's story spoke to my own situation in a controlling relationship. There were many times that I had to put the book aside because it hurt too much to keep reading. As I kept turning the pages, I saw all of the patterns in my own life and then the lightbulb went off and I thought, "That's me!" If you are in a controlling relationship or are obsessed with someone else, you have to get this book. It will change your life forever.

AN AMAZING, UPLIFTING BOOK!
Thank you Anne Teachworth for writing the only relationship book that makes any sense. I've read almost every book on the market and WHY WE PICK THE MATES WE DO is the only one with actual tools that work and ideas that can be applied to any situation.

Couples Counseling Dream Book
As a social worker who specializes in couples counseling, Anne Teachworth's book has helped me make new insights and associations in my practice. Her connection from current adult relationships with spouses/partners to childhood relationships with that individual's parents is a stroke of genius. I literally am better able to predict and possibly prevent problems in couples' relationships because of Anne's book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone in the field of couples' counseling as well as those individuals interested in self-help. It should be a must read for any graduate program specializing in relationship counseling, especially pre-marital since the Selection Test in the book is accurately able to predict BEFORE a couple gets married, how their relationship will be after. Bravo Anne and thank you!

Anne reads excerpts from her book
Take the amazing Selection Test and find out the real subconcious reasons for your attraction, rejection, selection and interactional patterns.....why you pick the mates you do...
and don't....why you are attracted to the wrong type of partners, why you keep having the same problems in relationships, why opposites attract and what happens when they do, how to change that troublesome chemistry so you can live happitly ever after..........

A book to remember-always
During the courtship, magic rules the universe. However, the morning after the marriage, reality often nukes the magic disappear. EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU MORE (JUST NOT TODAY) provides a series of essays so that the magic never vanishes, but instead reenergizes as a thriving loving partnership.

A happily ever after non-fiction work seems like a boring sure loser, but Nancy Shulins turns her material into an amusing, intelligent, and educational read that varies from story to story. Each of the essays is relatively small so that the reader can pick up and put down this self-help book as warranted. No essay is boring as they run the relationship gamut with the shared goal of "loving more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow" instead of "where did all the flowes go"?

Harriet Klausner

Every Day I Love You More(just not today)
There is a special magic in Nancy Shulins writing. She gets to the heart of marriage and the many nuances of behavior therein that leaves you laughing and some times crying as she shares her experiences. We woman can relate to much of what she says and men can too. A must gift from mother to daughter to sister to friend. This book is a sure winner and a joy to read.

Enlightening
What a wonderful Book!!! Bought it a few years ago and have read it from cover to cover a few times. When I get into a funk with my relationship, I go back to the book and it helps to shed some light into my dark mood. It brings me back to a good spirit that I know that this is not only happening to me but to others has well. I totally recommend buying this and read it when you think you are in a bad relationship and want out. This book totally helped me see that I too can survive. Many of these stories help me and I can relate to many events that are told in the book. Thanks so much Nancy for writing this book. Are you writing a 2nd book?

A Great Find! Easy Reading!
I originally desired to have this book to read to my children. We really enjoy reading it together. However, as time is going by, I find myself reading it by myself. I enjoy being able to read these stories in an "easy reading" format. It gives my a different perspective on the Bible that I have never had before. I think it is a must have in anyone's library and who could beat the price! It is quite a thick book....I was pleasantly surprised.

365 Read-Aloud Bedtime Bible Stories
A great way to introduce preschoolers to more than just the most popular Bible stories. This book goes straight through the Bible in short 2-3 minute stories, with two simple questions at the end of each. My 4-year-old begs me to read it to her each night. I let her pick out a few from anywhere in the book (usually chosen because of the pictures), which I read. Then I read 2 or 3, going through the book in order. This way, she gets to satisfy her curiosity about some of the pictures that have intrigued her, and I get the satisfaction of knowing that she's getting the full picture of the Bible, by reading straight through. Very highly recommended!

Great book!
My daughter loves this book. So does my wife!!! She is new to Christianity and reading this book to our daughter gave her a great place for her to start her own study of Sacred Scripture.

Outstanding, Outstanding, Outstanding!
My young cousin, whom I'm raising, has wanted to be a police officer since he could talk. After reading THIS book, he wants to be a K-9 Officer. I had to get him a second copy, for him to keep at school. My neighbour owns a day care centre, and has three or four copies for the children; she says that they're fascinated by the book, and it's a great spur to reading.

The photography is outstanding, and Officer Matsik makes for a terrific representative of the Shaker Heights Police Dept. A very positive book, which should be in the library of every child.

A Great Read!
This book has given my daughter an understanding of the job I do as a K-9 handler in a way that makes reading fun for her. I have chosen this book for our donations to area school that I visit to enhance their library.

This will be a favorite
A wonderful 'grandfather' book. My younger grandchildren want me to read it over and over. I enjoy the well written story and the photographs are excellent. Actually, all ages can appreciate this quality book.

AWESOME BOOK! TWO THUMBS UP!!!!
If you're a HUGE Diagnosis Murder Fan then this book is for you. This book was like watching it on television again. You can see all the characters and all the emotions they are going through. Great to have our old friends back again for another ride. Now we can read what the characters are actually thinking. The best book I have read in years. Lee Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Another job well done. Like Author Janet Evanovich said and I quote 'It's no surprise that the book delivers everything you expect from the show.' And yes it is 'very high-octane mystery that moves like a bullet train.'

Awesome Book! 2 Thumbs Up!
If you watched Diagnosis Murder for 8 years you're going to love this book! If you're a fan of Lee Goldberg you're going to love this book! It's like watching the show all over again. Thanks Lee for the surprises that you put in this book. You get more insight of what the characters are thinking and feeling towards each other that you didn't get from TV. This book is definately a great read. I can't wait for the next book, The Death Merchant. As Author Janet Evanovich said, "This is a clever,high-octane mystery that moves like a bullet train." THE FAB FOUR RIDES AGAIN!!!! WOOHOO!

Wonderful!!!
A wonderfully written and absolutely entertaining book. No other series of books is closer to the characters than those of Lee Goldberg. Thank you, Lee and all of those who helped creating and who are playing the characters.

Very well done!
This is a beautifully written book with great pictures, it is very easy to understand and follow. There are lots of helpful tips, and information regarding the benefits of each pose. I taught a class using the book as my text, and the results were outstanding!

a wonderful read from start to finish
As a yoga practitioner for over seven years, I have been very interested in expanding my practice. The door to partner yoga was opened and in walked this wonderful book. I love the easy to read prose and the pictures are just beautiful. Anyone can benefit from using the ideas and practice techniques which are described in a very gentle way. Beginners and experienced yogis and yoginis will find something to love in Partner Yoga. I highly recommend this book!

Easy to follow, fun to do.
My boyfriend and I got this book to try together; he'd had some yoga experience, while I am a beginner. The instructions and pictures are very clear and easy to follow, and there are a wide variety of positions ranging from very easy to very difficult. Some are less intimidating than they look! The instructions are very helpful, and then to realize afterward you have actually done the things in the picture is quite a rush.

Only experienced yoga students will be able to do everything in the book from the start, but most people in reasonable shape will be able to do a good portion of it and work up to the rest. A good way to get close to your partner while exercising, and I felt great afterward as well. Worth a shot for those who want to add a little variety!

Whether you love Bujold's A Civil Campaign, McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series, or classics like The Prisoner of Zenda, you owe it to yourself to grab Partners in Necessity. You'll see why Sharon Lee and Steve Miller have gained devoted fans since the first three Liaden novels (collected here) first appeared; they helped bring the series back with the publication of Plan B 11 years after its debut. This is swashbuckling space opera at its finest, a blend of adventure, romance, humor, and terrific world building.

Meet Priscilla Delacroix y Mendoza, betrayed and stranded on a backward world by the Liaden trader she served as cargo master. Fortunately, another Liaden ship, Dutiful Passage, makes orbit and she applies for work. The captain, Shan yos'Galen, also has accounts to settle with Priscilla's former employers, and "among Liadens, revenge is something of an art form." Conflict of Honors is their story. In Agent of Change, Val Con yos'Phelium, Shan's cousin and foster brother, comes to the aid of Miri Robertson, former mercenary and bodyguard, who's being hunted by an interstellar crime cartel. Once a First-in Scout, he's become a spy for Liad, programmed to play the odds ruthlessly. He's just committed a murder. They flee together, aided by Edger, an alien shaped like a turtle. His "four-hundred pound bottle-green frame" is impressive to the Clans of Men, as are the beautiful, deadly knives of his people. He's considered a bit hasty by colleagues, but his appreciation of music is keen and he regards Val Con as a brother. In Carpe Diem, the stories of Val Con and Miri, and Shan and Priscilla come together and the story of Clan Korval, to which Shan and Val Con belong, unfolds further.

Once you've sampled Lee and Miller's Liaden Universe, you'll be delighted that Plan B and Pilot's Choice are available now, with I Dare still to come. Join SF and fantasy writers from Anne McCaffrey to Barry Longyear in badgering them for more. --Nona Vero

Truly Great Space Opera!
PARTNERS IN NECESSITY is one of the greatest compilation volumes I have had the pleasure of reading for a good many years! It is actually three novels CONFLICT OF HONORS, AGENT OF CHANGE and CARPE DIEM originally published in the late eighties. How I could have possibly missed them back then I don't know but now I have found them I will never let them go!

Classic space opera! Interesting plots, wonderful characters, and enough action and romance to keep you turning the pages fast enough to have to worry about paper cuts! I read these books quickly and reread them and reread them again trying to memorize it! I'll admit I have become a Liaden Universe addict! Please don't try to rehabilitate me!

This is a keeper! One of the few that actually ended up on my library shelf rather then the local library.

For those of you who like adventure and romance I can't think of a better place to spend your time. It's worth it and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get a copy...

Marvelous! Exciting, emotional, well-drawn, ... Read it!
I bought this 3-in-1 (in hardcover), and after reading just one, Lee & Miller immediately moved to the top handful of my favorite authors, and every story I've read since has just seemed to get better than the last! Whether you like "space opera" adventure, contact/conflict-of-cultures plots, emotional (but not graphic) paranormal romance, or just plain excellent writing, the Liaden Universe stories are for you!

Liaden series notes:
This volume contains "Conflict of Honors", "Agent of Change", and "Carpe Diem", the first three tales of the "present" generation of Clan Korval, especially Val Con yos'Phelium and his foster-brother Shan yos'Galan, in plot-chronological order (the 2nd happened to be *published* first).
These are followed by the cliff-hanger "Plan B", and the [conclusion] "I Dare".
The first story ("Conflict of Honors") is all about Shan and his lifemate-to-be, Priscilla Mendoza, but then Val Con and HIS lady, Miri Robertson, take center stage for most of the subsequent volumes - though the rest of the family is far from left out.
"Pilots Choice" is a prequel 2-in-1 ("Local Custom" & "Scout's Progress") featuring Shan & Val Con's *parents* -- and by the way, read these at least before "I Dare"!
The authors' website, Korval.com, includes reference data (FAQs, pronunciation guide, etc.) and a complete bibliography for the series, including many shorter entries NOT available as standard HCs or PBs.

Trust me, if you clicked any link that landed you on this page, you can't help but enjoy these stories!

Absolutely Wonderful - DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!!
Partners in Necessity is an omnibus edition of three novels: Conflict of Honors, Agent of Change & Carpe Diem.

Conflict of Honors: Priscilla Delacroix y Mendoza left her homeplanet when she was only sixteen, convicted of blasphemy and exiled to be homeless and clanless, but she survived. Ten years later, after working her share of grunt jobs, she was the cargo master on the Daxflan, a Liaden ship captained by Sav Rid Olanek. It wasn't an easy job as Terrans were treated like second-class citizens and the second mate, Dagmar, kept trying to "charm" her into a relationship, but Priscilla could not afford to leave the ship and damage her reputation so she stayed. Then Priscilla discovered that the Captain had taken on a cargo of illegal drugs and passed them off as innocent pharmaceuticals. Priscilla tried to hide her knowledge, but she found herself knocked out and locked up on a second-class planet with no money, no job and a resume that now claimed she was a thief.

Priscilla knew that she had to get off the planet and hunt down the Daxflan, if for nothing else than to reclaim her possessions, so she turned to the only ship in orbit at the time - the Dutiful Passage captained by Shan yos'Galan. Unbelievably, the Captain hired her as a pet librarian and then proceeded to help her with pilot and leadership training. Priscilla did not know quite how to react to the friendship of those aboard the Dutiful Passage, but she slowly started to think of the ship as her home. But Dagmar and Captain Olanek were not going to let Priscilla escape and they had a score to settle against Shan yos'Galan, her beloved Captain and source of protection...

Agent of Change: Val Con yos'Phelium, Clan Korval, future Delm and Second Speaker, was just doing a routine mission on some backwater planet in the middle of the universe when his life changed. After completing his mission, he encountered a small spitfire of a woman and saved her life, for which she promptly repaid him by bashing his head in. When Val Con woke up, the spitfire dumped him, but Val Con was intrigued, so he followed her and saved her life again. Now Miri Robertson, whose life he had saved twice, was forced to deal with Val Con, honor demanded it. She was intrigued by Val Con, whom she nicknamed "Tough Guy", but definitely didn't want a partner. As a former mercenary and bodyguard, she could handle herself and, as a target for the powerful Juntavas crime ring, she couldn't trust anyone...

However, both Val Con and Miri, both of whom were used to working alone, soon found that they worked well as partners, at least they would if Miri would stop trying to ditch Val Con at every opportunity. Val Con knew that Miri was something special, she made him feel things that he hadn't felt in years, she made him feel alive again. Miri didn't know what was wrong with Val Con, but she knew it had something to do with what he called The Loop, some kind of brain implant that gave him the odds of success on every mission/action he made. As they grew closer together, both Val Con and Miri realized that the Department of the Interior, who had trained Val Con as an agent, must have some ulterior motive in plan. But in order to find out what it was, they had to stay alive...

Carpe Diem: Val Con his lifemate, Miri Robertson were ordered not to be harmed by the Juntavas syndicate. However, personal interpretation of 'not be harmed' left Val Con and Miri on a broken-down spaceship in the middle of nowhere with the enemy Yxtrang ready to kill them for the hunk of junk they were sitting in. However, Val Con and Miri managed to rig something together and 'jumped' to one of the nearest planets - a backwater world named Vandar.

Vandar had no contact with the outside universe and didn't even know that other cultures existed. With no spaceships and no radio comm that they could use, Val Con and Miri tried to resign themselves to a long stay and set about learning the culture and the language. Meanwhile, Shan yos'Galan, Val Con's brother and his lifemate, Priscilla, began searching the galaxy for him, as did Edger and Sheather, Val Con's Clutch brothers. Back on Liad, Nova yos'Galan, Val Con's sister, had translated a cryptic message from Val Con that, while ensuring the Clan of the heir's survival, told them precious little else. But she did discover that the Department of the Interior, a department that seemed shrouded in mystery and determined to conquer the planet of Liad and from there, the universe, was also looking for Val Con. The more she investigated, the more interested the Department became in Clan Korval...until Nova was forced to call Plan B - retreat strategically, trust no one, prepare for all out war....

These are books 3-5 in the Liaden series if you read them chronologically, which I recommend. As with the other books, I simply loved Lee & Miller's characters and world building. They spend time on the details and it shows that they have carefully thought out and executed another masterpiece. I really feel as if I know the Korval family and am taking a remedial course on Liaden etiquette, these books are that well written! If you enjoy any kind of science fiction or space opera then this book has something for you - great characters, lots of action, enemies on all sides, high tech battle sequences, romance, family relations, honor, and much, much more! You can read this book as a stand-alone novel, but I would recommend starting with the prequels (Local Custom & Scout's Progress, also found in omnibus Pilot's Choice), so that you are familiar with Liad and Clan Korval, but, these books were the originals for the Liaden universe and were written first. Also, you definitely should not miss out on any book in the wonderful Liaden universe - all of them are very highly recommended!

The role of birth partner is a tough one. A birth partner may be expected to help a laboring woman make decisions and help her get through the pain and discomfort of childbirth. During this high-intensity time, the birth partner--whether father, partner, or friend--needs a book that can give thorough information for studying ahead of time, yet can be easily referenced in an emergency or for quick answers during labor and delivery. The Birth Partner fills both needs.

Penny Simkin, P.T. (Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn) has written a clear, informative guide that includes a thorough description of everything a birth partner can expect. For a quick brush-up, or for sudden emergency situations where a birth partner is thrust into the role unprepared, the book also provides vital information and emergency tips that are clearly marked on pages with darkened edges. Every section includes a description of a stage of labor or circumstance, a description of what the caregiver (doctor, nurse or midwife) might do, and suggestions about what the birth partner's role should be.

The different sections include preparing for the birth, helping labor begin (in certain situations this is necessary), early labor , the stages of labor, strategies for special situations, the medical side of childbirth, and ways to assist after the birth. Of special note is a clear chart describing various drugs, their desired effects and secondary reactions, and the stages of labor in which each of them may be appropriate.

Average review score:

The most helpful childbirth prep book
After reading dozens of books on preparing for labor and delivery, I found this one to be the most comprehensive and helpful for preparing for my first child. Although this is written for birth attendants instead of expectant mothers, I found unbiased information about all aspects of childbirth- potential problems with many possible solutions, procedures and risks. It gave me the information I needed to choose what kind of birth experience I desired for my child and made me aware of options that I was not aware of. Highly recommended reading for both future mom and her coach/birth attendant.

Must-read for Dads-to-be!
I cannot recommend this book enough. Not only does it do an excellent job in covering all the basics about childbirth, but it also helps the birth partner understand what may be happening emotionally with the mother and what the reader him/herself may feel. It does a great job of letting birth partners know what to do when and how to be the most help to the laboring mom.

It is especially helpful that certain sections are highlighted along the edges, so they are easy to find quickly, even during labor.

The only book my husband read & loved
I highly reccomend this book! I bought every book on pregnancy I could find & this was given to my husband & this is the book we had open when I was in labor! The tables in this book surpase any of the books I bought. They were easy to find, clear, concise & informative. None of the books I bought for the birthing mother were as easy to find information in-especially during birth itself. This is the book we sat up reading together in bed & discussing what was to come. When I went into labor I grabbed my favorite birth book (The Birth Book by the Sears) & was thumbing through it for info on what was happening & what was next. But my husband grabbed his copy of The Birth Partner & found all the info we were looking for faster than I did. I still reccomend the Birth Book by the Sears for expecting moms but The Birth Partner is essential for both expecting moms & dads.

"Work marriage"
SCRIPT PARTNERS can easily be expanded to a larger audience. In gathering information from other outstanding writing teams and their own experiences in working together, Claudia & Matt have captured the essence of the creative/collaborative relationship. Within the first few pages of the book, I was transported to an earlier experience in my career with another type of "work marriage"- co-therapy. The parallel between writing teams and co-therapy is quickly apparent. Both assist in the development of their characters/clients; both find themselves caught up in their own issues; both misread their character/client and discover that they are going down the wrong path; both experience the sadness and joy of discovery and human emotion. And (SCRIPT PARTNERS p.1) "we both know on some level that we could do this by ourselves...we both could, but we're better together and prefer it that way."
As a therapist, if you've never experienced the joys of co-therapy or found solutions for the struggles, read this book. Claudia & Matt have given us a map that guides our partnerships through the ups and downs of a "work marriage". Don't miss it, it's an insightful, humorous, and refreshing book.

A great read!
This book is a great read. I've looked at a lot of screenwriting how-to books, and this is one of the best. Partly because it doesn't read like a how-to book. Instead, it just concentrates on some really good interviews with scriptwriting partners, including legends and newcomers (they've got a "filmography" in the back of the book to help separate out who's who). It's not just for people considering writing with partners - it's for anyone who's interested in what it's like to write professionally. And it's funny. There are terrific stories about the unusual ways in which writers brainstorm and create scripts together (one team even used a Ouija board to contact the original subject of their historical drama - establishing a script writing team with the dead!), and about how writers deal with disagreements between themselves as well as the studios. And the business material is presented about as clearly as any book I've seen on the subject. If you want to know what it's like to live and work as a screenwriter, this book tells you.

Jumpstart Your Creativity
This book exceeded my expectations and helped me discover better writing through partnership. I'd previously attempted screenwriting with a partner (with limited success), but had no model to base the partnership on. As a result of the interviews and examples the book provides, I was more confident that I could find a collaborator whose style more appropriately complimented my own. Needless to say, I found a screenwriting partner and through trial and error (with the book as a guide) we explored different styles of working, finally settling into a routine that has not only helped our writing improve, but has increased our productivity by leaps and bounds.

I highly recommend that you pick up this book if you find your writing hits a dead end ? even if you don?t, it's the only book of its kind, a great read, and definitely worth a look.
