Minnie and Moo Go To Paris
Yes, this is a children's book, but then again, it isn't. I dare any person who calls themselves a grown-up to read any of the "Minnie and Moo" books and not get the urge to laugh out loud. Go ahead, though, and find a kid to read it to if you're too self-conscious to laugh out loud by yourself. There are plenty of opportunities to use your scary voices, animal noises and bus-driving-through-a-carwash sounds. Oh, yeah, and kids will love it, too.

Moulin Rouge is a big kick!
A thorough, exhaustive research has been put into this book and the excitment is captured very well. "The Moulin Rouge" is a love letter not only to the establishment itself, but it gives great detail to the origins of the can-can which made the Moulin Rouge famous. It is to me as thrilling as a high can-can kick! Highly reccommended.

I have been married 9 months now..and could not find any muffins that my husband liked. I fixed a couple out of this book and WOW, he loved them. He's not much of a bread eater...but loves those muffins! Thanks!

Murder in the Title

Very enjoyable book
Murder in the Title is an excellent example of the humorous murder mystery genre. This book, like all of Simon Brett's Charles Paris novels, is centered around the English theatre scene, complete with egotistical actors, inefficient theatre staff and back-biting galore. This particular book has some extremely hillarious dialogues that will make you laugh out loud. If you enjoy a mix of murder and humor, like Charlotte MacLeod, Lillian Jackson Braun, and Elizabeth Peters, with a bit of theatre and British dialogue thrown in, you will love this book. I highly recommend it.

By an original and deftly talented novelist
My Paris by Gail Scott is a work of literary fiction about a Canadian woman's time in a Parisian studio. Examining cultural legacy entrenched against the onslaught of globalized mass-media, and written in a staccato style that relies upon long strings of sentence fragments - complete subject-verb sentences are disdained for the power of emotional abbreviations of thought and form - My Paris is memorable and distinguished work, marking Gail Scott as an original and deftly talented novelist.

This Sketchbook Illuminates The City Of Lights!
No city touches my soul like Paris. She is the queen of old world charm, of romantic ambiance, bourgeois elegance and bohemian grit. Fine art and cuisine flourish here, as do sidewalk cafes, flea markets and Parisian attitude. The Pont-Neuf, along the banks of the Seine, is one of my favorite places in the world. Artist Alain Bouldouyre, a longtime resident of the City of Light is obviously another person who has been captivated by the delights of Paris. Monsieur Bouldouyre is an illustrator and the artistic director of Senso magazine.

This richly visual sketchbook, filled with Bouldouyre's elegant watercolors, brings the city to life, in all her glory. His sophisticated palette of colors and sensitive line brilliantly capture the historic architecture, contemporary street scenes, the beauty of the Seine and its banks. The Place de la Concorde is depicted at sunrise. Readers are given a poetic portrait of the various Arrondissements and their attractions at different times of day and night, in natural light and illuminated by streetlights. We are taken to the Louvre, the Opera and down less frequented side streets. Christophe Auduraud's narrative complements the illustrations. Auduraud is a film critic and novelist, and a past scholar of the Villa Médicis, the French cultural institute in Rome.

The book has a lovely flow to it. It is handsomely bound with a linen spine and a color-washed cover painting. The paper is a heavy cream colored, heavily ribbed stock with notes written in longhand alongside the vibrant sketches. If you have been to Paris, this is a wonderful remembrance. If you have never been there, Bouldouyre' watercolors capture the city's essence better than any photograph could.

If you're going to Paris, chances are you'll drop by Notre-Dame. And if you're going to Notre-Dame, your experience can be significantly enriched by spending a while with Alain Erlande-Brandenburg's Notre-Dame de Paris and Caroline Rose's photography. Get comfortable, pour yourself a glass of wine, and settle into the history, design, and interior of one of man's greatest monuments to God. From the 4th-century cathedral to the exquisite iconography of the western facade's portrayal of the Last Judgment, it's a structure deeply deserving of the loving treatment Erlande- Brandenburg and Rose bestow. And when you're there in the flesh, you'll appreciate the flying buttresses and stained-glass windows better for every picture detail and insightful note you studied before you left. --Stephanie Gold

Cohn Bendit back in the good old days
Cohn-Bendit used to be great. This is also the best chronological account of the May events next to The Beginning of the End: Paris '68. Very much suggested despite Cohn-Bendit's turn today.

This edition is illegitimate. Alan Greenberg, co-translator
As co-translator and writer of the book's English language adaptation, I recommend that this Tanam Press edition be rejected as illegitimate, due to grievous editing errors on almost every page. The more recent Jonathan Cape (UK) edition is far superior, being closer both to Werner's vision and that of my original English adaptation.

"With an oink, oink here..." hey, where's the next flap?
This is a great book. The illustrations are funny and colorful. Old MacDonald looks cute enough to hug! It takes some practice, though, to find and open the correct flaps and keep the song going at the same time! But if it takes a little longer to get it right, it's just that much more time my daughter and I get to enjoy it.
