Fur Trade History is Flourishing!!
This book presents the latest scholarship on a wide variety of topics in the lively field of fur trade history. By making available many of the best papers presented at the Halifax conference, this book brings to a broad audience the research of scholars young and old who have studied several important aspects of what may fairly be described as one of the fundamental themes in early North American history. Topics range from biographies to economic, social, and cultural history. This book demonstrates that the field is alive and well, and that fur trade history can certainly offer important materials for students and teachers of American or Canadian history.

fun and educational project
Adults and children (recommend age 10 and up) can enjoy this project together, as we did on a winter afternoon. The result is a 4-room Spanish style New Mexico adobe home with many pieces of authentic furniture and details. It also includes substantial historical information about the house and it's contents. Great for people who enjoy paper crafts. Would also make a wonderful project and learning experience for a group of students in the upper grades (4-8), with adult assistance.

Exceptionally Gorgeous
This book is awesome. Read it from cover to cover. Beautiful paper ideas. Glad I chose it. Making baby announcements, and I was looking for the right envelope to enclose them. Mimi's Envelope Template on page 28, hit the spot. The Hand Card on page 85, gave me excellent ideas for gift cards. Truly recommend this book to anyone looking for new paper ideas. Mimi when is your next book due?

The New Sufferings of Young W and Other Stories from the German Democratic Republic (German Library, Vol 87 (Paper)

Goethe Revisited
Plenzdorf writes with much wit over a timeless struggle between man and society. A mimic of Goethe intertwined with Salinger, Plenzdorf introduces us to Edgar Wibeau, a charismatic teenager, who like Goethe's Werther, or Salinger's Caufield, is a sensitive youth out of touch with modern societal norms. From the start he is the model GDR-boy. Intelligent, obiedient, and steadfast. One day, he decides that he cannot take it anymore, and that he'll just leave. He abandons everything, and lives in his bestfriend Willi's mother's garden house. A definite read. Anyone who enjoys either Goethe or Salinger should pick up this read!

Native American Summer School Review
We are a Title IX summer school class of soon-to-be third graders. Many of us are Potawatomi. We enjoyed reading about our ancestors although we do realize that this book is historical fiction. This is what each student had to say about Night of the Full Moon:

Reese-Fawn and Libby were friends. It's ok to be friends with white people.

Peter-I like it when Libby's father wanted to give Sanatuwa land so he could stay with them. It showed that he was generous and thankful to him for saving his daughter.

Jack-It was exciting and scary when the soldiers captured Libby with Fawn's family.

Darlene-It was a great story. I learned that the Potawatomi had to travel a long ways when they were forced from their homes. One soldier said 'Indians should be free just like he was' and he let them go.

Michelle-It was an exciting story to read. I felt sad that the Potawatomi were forced off their land.

Gabrielle-It was exciting when the girl was getting dragged from that soldier. I didn't like the soldiers and felt angry at them.

Frankie-I learned that the Potawatomi got kicked off the land. The white men brought smallpox disease and whiskey to the Indians and tricked them into signing treaties and giving away their land for a little money.

Danielle-I liked learning about what happened to the Potawatomi Indians.

Mandi-I liked the part where Sanatuwa brought Libby back to her parents.

Joseph-I just liked the book because I love reading books.

Nuts and bolts of NO assays
If you are a graduate student or a researcher getting your feet wet in nitric oxide assays, this book is an excellent starting place. The complete step-by-step breakdown of assays is vital to graduate students honing their experimental technique, and the variety of assays will benefit any basic science researcher. This is a very impressive, concise compilation of most assays you will require in nitric oxide work.

Wonderful!
My 5 year old son is interested on bats, vampires and other little critters & monsters. However, I couldn't find any book on this subject that was appropriate for his age. I'm so glad I came across Mercer Mayer's collection. I have read Little Critter in the past and have found it amusing and helpful. However, Critters of the Night is much more appealing to my kid. The characters and illustrations are very expressive and colorful. The text is clear, easy and fun to read. It's very rhythmic. He's learning to read now, but I always take him a step further. The Critters of the Night collection is helping me on this endeavor. We love it!

Ends and Means: Huxley's finest work
If you ever have a chance to get your hands on this book, do so with great haste. I have never really cared for most of Huxley's works but this particular essay has stayed with my thoughts for years and, in fact, changed the way I percieve things around me. I cannot summarize the book in any manner but can only say that Huxley examines the human psyche and behavior, and details it in such a way that one will feel ignorant for having not noticed many of his observations before.

A beautifully illustrated children¿s book!
Richly satisfying artwork, with text that rhymes. Out of a large basket of small books, our kids choose "Noah's Ark" by Amy Flynn & Linda Hayward to be read time and time again. A classic "chunky book".
