Jaynes's approach to statistical mechanics is so simple and convincing you won't be needing ergodic theory anymore to justify ensamble avrages after you'll finish this book. after making his contribution to statistical mechanics Jaynes turns to probability theory and attacks the (usual) random variable approach, claiming a new basis for probability theory is both avaliable and needed . I recomend to start reading this book with the article from the brandis lecture and than to proceed to the article "where do we stand on maximum entropy" where jaynes wittily answers the criticism raised upon his analysis of the "dice problem" (presented in the brandis lecture). A true classic for anyone interested in statistical physics and probability theory.

This is a wonderful introduction to the Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition. Prof. Joseph Dan is one of the leading Kabbalah scholars alive today. In this book, he presents selections from the "early Kabbalists", those of the late 12th and early 13th centuries, before the publication of the *Zohar*. This anthology contains brief and heavily annotated selections from the 'Iyyun Circle, the Book Bahir (*Sefer ha-Bahir*), Rabbi Isaac the Blind of Provence, Rabbi Azriel of Gerona, Rabbi Jacob ben Sheshet of Gerona, and the Kohen brothers, Jacob and Isaac. These are the men who pave the way for the glories of the *Zohar*. These selections are rich in the symbols that later became prevalent in Kabbalah. This book is a particularly good beginning for someone who wants to study Kabbalah in its historical unfolding.

Having grown up watching Wyatt Earp on TV, I finaly went to Tombstone. I never knew there were that many books out on Wyatt and his brothers. That is until I went to Tombstone, and saw plenty of books on the Earps and Holliday. Mr. Chaput's book is a well researched book and easy reading. There are many interesting footnotes and plenty of background information. A must for any Earp fan.

Mallory Loehr's Earth Magic, the second book in the Magic Elements Quartet, is truly wonderful. Something magical always happens to Polly and her brother Sam. It's great how Persephone changes from a rock into the daughter of the goddess of the Earth. This book is not too hard and not too easy. It's perfect!

This book has many paper piece patterns that could make up any hundreds of quilts. The book has many colorful pictures of quilts finished for inspiration. I have made several quilts using this book and still go back to it often. I would recommend this book to beginning and veteran paper piecer's.
