Mom From Nevada
My two and a half year old really loves this book. She likes to "read" the words that are printed in picture form. The counting and rhyming and sweet story make it fun to read over and over!

Pre-readers love rebus books
My daughter is 21-months old, and a very early talker who loves books. Now that she is starting to handle a little plot, she is obsessed with rebus books, especially this one (I think it's the bright colors and charming animal characters that make this one her favorite.) Don't let the older age listing discourage you from buying it!

Great Rhyming/Great Illustrations!
Perfect rhyming scheme helps to tell a story little kids will want to listen to over and over again. My 2 year old loves to shout out the rhyming words. Great buy!

For horse lovers of all ages.
This book is for the child in all of us who used to canter, rather than walk, to school. The illustrations show Oliver's love for both horses and the Native American craft designs. The loving care and detail of the beautiful trappings indicate how truly the Native Americans loved and valued their horse companions. Each illustration is identified on the back and most all are recreations of historical artifacts from major museums. Children can enjoy this book and will want to cut out all the items to dress the horses up. But adults will enjoy it also as a great source of information on the different tribes and styles, which has been carefully researched. A great gift for the horse-crazy little girl (and boy) in all of us.

One of the favorites at our house!
This is such a sweet story with opportunity to show children how to encourage others. Our 2 year old loves it and asks for it over and over. Why is this not on the classics list yet?

MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE BOOKS FOR TOTS
This is my very favorite book for young children 2 through 5. Mitchell is a wonderful character. The story is sweet and happy. The illustrations are adorable. Highly, highly recommended.

A faithful mailman, who gets a cold and finally his own mail
I'm giving this a book a 5 star based on the reaction of my 3 children to the book when each of them discovered it at the age of 3-5 years old. The message and illustration is clear and folksy. A gentle, faithful mailman (who happens to be a dog) and longs for his own mail, delivers a birthday package to Bobby Beaver on a cold and rainy night, then gets a bad cold. His get well letters come in a big sack of mail and there ends the tale. The type is large enough for the child to eventually read on their own and they want to!! This book is similar in tone, simplicity and clarity to Maurice Sendaks Little Bear, or Mazy the Mouse. A quiet refuge for the young and their protectors in an often hectic world. I'm surprised there aren't more books and merchandise for this character, it should be and probably will be a classic one day.

A "MUST HAVE" for Troop Leaders!!!
I highly recommend purchasing both "On My Honor" AND "Whene'r you Make Promise" for your personal resource, OR your Service Unit Library! Both are beautifully illustrated, and great tools for learning about the history of scouting in the US. Younger girls appreciate dressing the dolls in their period Uniforms and dresses, older girls can also enjoy the personal stories included. Use these books to tie in the requirements for many patches andd badges such as "Brownie Girl Scouts Through The Years" and "Her Story" try-its, The "Juliette Low" patch, and the "Girl Scouting Through the Years" Junior Badge. No girl is ever too old for paper dolls, and these are a high quality product line! My girls particularly liked trying to imagine camping in such complicated underclothes, as well as comparing patches and awards to today's equivalents. These books deserve an "A".

Great book
This used to be my favorite book when I was younger. I would recemend it to any kid whos in 4th or 5th grade. I am in 8th grade now but sometimes when I get bored i take out that book and start to read it agin.

The Great Review of On My Honor
It was good interesting book. The way the characters feelings changed they were happy then sad. There names are Joel and Tony the book started to go to Starved Rock Park, but they didn't make it. I think it was one of the best books I ever read.

One Thousand Paper Cranes : The Story of Sadako and the Children's Peace Statue

Memorable and heartbreaking...
...this is the kind of book that continues to haunt you long after you put it down. I read this book in elementary school and then stumbled across it as an adult - even re-reading it as an adult, I was shocked by the descriptions of the damage done by the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

This book is a must-read. As an American, I believe that the atom bomb was a necessary evil to stop World War II; however, as a human, I believe the atom bomb was a horrible atrocity unleashed on millions of people, including a child named Sadako whose story is poignantly told here. This book is an eye-opener, a heart-wrencher and a beautiful story.

A book everyone should read
No matter what side you are on in the debate on the use of the atomic bombs during WWII, this is a "must read". As a science teacher, I read this book to my Advanced Chemistry class at the conclusion of our nuclear chemistry unit. However, I have yet been able to read it through without crying. And I have not been alone. Sadako's story should teach us all a lesson. My students may not remember the specifics of chain reactions or nuclear decay. But I guaruntee that they will remember Sadako's story. I want them to be informed citizens who make educated choices. One thing that history has shown us is that it repeats itself. What a horrible thought.......that another little girl become a "Sadako". I would hate to think that next time her name might be an American one......It chills me to the bone.

A Wonderful Companion Book to Eleanor Coerr's Sadako
Often fiction leads us into a story and leaves us helpless to change anything. Takayuki Ishii's book takes us into the real world of Sadako Sasaki who died of leukemia years after the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. This is a well researched document, with family and classmate interviews, which sheds light on the real child whose world changed as a result of adult decisions. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is home to a statue commemorating Sadako's life. It was built by the donations solicited by her classmates. Each day children from all over the world send folded paper cranes to this statue in her memory and in the hope for world peace. It is rare for a teacher to have the opportunity to compare and contrast a fictionalized event with the non fictional and rarer, still, to then have the opportunity to construct a real life project, from classroom reading, for students which will make the voices of the children heard. I am a teacher and the children in my school, the Henry Viscardi School, forwarded their cranes to the statue. This moving experience is recorded on our school Web site (under Japanese Odyssey)and was inspired by Reverand Ishii's book. The book had been published first in Japan. Random House has now made it available in the United States and as word of its publication reaches schools and libraries, it is destined to become a "must have" for every American classroom.

Ooey Gooey
My favorite pirate book, and we have most of them, I ordered 5 more to give as gifts, Easy to read, and absolutely darling pictures. Story line keeps us all amused. I changed the work, "hate " on the last page to dislike, since I would rather say dislike around my five year old.

A keeper at our house!
We've had this book for about 2 years....we're still reading it! My son (now 6) loves it. But it's definitely not just a "boy book". It's fun for everyone. We have several other "Critters of the Night" and "Little Critter" stories too. These are the kind of books that encourage kids to 'want' to read simply because they are fun, entertaining and just well done. We've bought every one of these books that we've come across - except for the "L.C. and the Critter Kids" series - and we have not bought those only so there will be something to look forward to in the future as my son enters that particular reading level.

They LOVED it!
I just stumbled upon this book and my 4 year old and 1 year old just loved it. It has a great story about a benign pirate who loses his gold tooth to a sea beast and then must search undersea to find it again. The illustrations are great. Best of all, it is a Step Up To Reading book. We read it to our 4 year old and the verse is constructed so that he can finish the sentences all by himself. It is his first real "participation" book, but it is not just exclusively for older preschoolers, as our 1 year old is equally interested in it as well. We really are pleased with this book and are looking for more just like it.

Origins and Technology of the Advanced Extra-Vehicular Space Suit (A A S History Series (Paper), 24)

The Origins and Technology of the Advanced Extra-Vehicular S
The author also outlines the intricate procedure followed by NASA in contracting a space suit. NASA doesn't select a space suit; it selects a conractor. It involves a whole range of considerations such as cost, integration of the PLSS and suit, who were the contractor's key personnel, design and test philosophy of the contractor, certfication method, prior experience, who the subcontractors were, scheduling and delivery, and how compatible the suit system is with the spacecraft. In addition, blatant national political factors more than likely affected contractor selection; how much money was NASA already spending in the respective states of the suit competitors, who were the states' representatives and did NASA owe the representative any potical favors?

This volume is Bible of the space suits, covered in over 500 pages in fine print. It addresses almost all issues relating to the EVA suit in one volume. It is perhaps the only source book of space suits. It is rare occassion that an entire volume of the AAS History Series is devoted to a single topiuc, which indeed is an honor to the author. In Indian context, may be the ISRO has no plans to design a space suit, since there are no plans of any manned space mission as of today, but eventually it will have. This book will serve as a reference in design specification and technical details of the various types of EVA suits and their suitability for a particular mission.

Bound in blue hard cover as usual, the book has a illustration of the Litton RX-5A hard suit being demonstrated on a simulated lunar surface.

The Bible of Space Suits
Gary Harris wrote the most precise and complete space suits book ever. I thought I knew some about space suits design, but after reading "The Origins and Technology of the Advanced Extra-Vehicular Space Suit" I learned a lot more. This book is so interesting and passionate about the history and development of advanced EVA suits. Full of good photos and explanatory drawings it is a MUST for any serious reader interested in space suits. The book also cover technical issues, so it is useful for the engineer, scientist and student.
I predict this book will become a classic for life support systems and EVA engineers in the years to come.

Incredible
Incredible book, absolutely incredible. I got it on inter-library loan to check it out first, now I'm going to buy it. Book is packed with details -- plss diagrams, joint cross-sections, the works. I've been unable to get good info on hardsuits -- this is loaded with details. A fantastic reference.

All things Catholic - a must for your reference library.
Need the name or biography of an American bishop or a cardinal? How about a list of Beatifications by Pope John Paul II? Or perhaps information on Catholic colleges, religious movements, or the Catholic Press? How about a Reader's Digest-condensed version of Pope John Paul II's encyclicals?

Whatever Catholic bit of information you are seeking, the chances are pretty good that Our Sunday Visitor's 2001 Almanac will have what you are looking for.

Next to my dictionary it is one of the most used books sitting on my shelf.

Updated annually, it provides addresses, phone numbers, and web addresses to all things Catholic.

The 2001 edition also features special Jubilee year coverage, in-depth coverage of the revelation of the "Third Secret" of Fatima, extensive coverage of the Pope's trip to the Holy Land, articles in defense of Pope Pius XII, the Vatican list of the greatest films, and much more.

Whether you're a Catholic student, writer, professor, or lay person you will find this small book indispensable in your work.

Everything Catholic
This book is a complete Catholic reference with sufficient sources for additional information. Excellent history of the church and catechism brief reference.

best source
The Catholic Almanac is a first rate reference work on the Catholic Church. Here one can look up the history and statistics of the Catholic Church in every country of the world. There is a glossary of Catholic terminology; biographical information on the Catholic bishops of the United States and the Cardinals of the world; information on Catholic organizations, institutions, and religious orders; explanations of Catholic doctrines; news in the Church for the last year. You name it, it's in there. Just about anything you need to know regarding the Church of today or through history you can find in this book. If you own the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Code of Canon Law, and this Almanac, then you will be well equipped with Catholic information. It will be especially useful for students. There is also a lot of fun to be had in browsing through this book. It is a tremendous bargain, and I heartily recommend it.

A treasure of Hockney illustrations & information
If you want a better understanding of David Hockney buy this book. It is a wonderful display of illustrations and information of a great British artist.

"David Hockney: Paintings" is well written and organized to foster a greater understanding of how Hockney evolves over the course of his career. Moreover, you will be impressed by the outstanding quality of the the black & white and color illustrations.

Authors Paul Melia and Ulrich Luckhardt provide the reader an excellent insight to the artistic thoughts of David Hockney. It also studies and explains the tremendous global popularity of the artist. This is a great book to have in the house.

A Fan's Book
Being a tremendous fan of Hockney's work, I was delighted to find this beautiful and informative book.

I liked the chronological organization as the book traced the artist's development over the years. I always find this such an interesting perspective, seeing how an artist's vision changes and evolves. And I also liked the way that the relationship between Hockney's life and his art is explored.

The illustrations were grand too!

A worthwhile book and a good study of Hockney, his life, and his works.

What a bargain price for such a wonderful book
I was more than pleasantly surprised by the extremely high quality of the reproductions. The book is split up in six chapters covering the main artistic phases in Hockney's live and giving a lot of information about his paintings.
