Poet to Poet
When Paper Met Pen' speaks boldly, wasting no time in defining the essence of the authors femininity. Lala is unhesitant to let the reader know the behaviors that she does and does not except from a man. With skillful use of poetry, she is able to find her inner-strength and command total respect from men of all types without being offensive to the male gender. With the exception of the first few poems, the theme of the book cannot be mistaken for anything other than love and relationships. Make no mistake, although it deals with love desires, it's not erotic poetry. If you've ever been in a place where you've searched for true love in man, only to be constantly disappointed, then you and the author may have something in common to talk about.

Something for everyone.
In this classic type poetry book, the lyrics that flow from the page to your mind, then sink down to your soul is everything but classic. Lala has outdone herself in the beautifully written and arranged masterpiece "when paper met pen" There is no explanation for what you feel upon completion of this book. There is something for everyone and with it's diversity it contains, something for every part of you.

You will finish reading it!
Poetry covers a variety of thinking passions known to us. Ms. A. Jones will have you examine every plane of human life. Most importantly her style is versatile, there is no monotony. I greatly recommend it. Your pages will turn and your mind will keep reflecting upon new thought patterns. Keeping up with this Jones is worth the effort.

A Soulful Journey
A Woman's Soul On Paper is a soulful and thought provoking book which is written in a narrative voice by the author, Cassandra George Sturges. It's a story about a journey from self-help through self-discovery based on Sturges personal memoirs. The journey begins with the illustration on the book cover. A woman is writing in her diary and she is in deep thought as noted by her reflection in a mirror. This illustration is what inspired me to start reading the book.

Sturges bares her soul on paper in a quiet and spiritually uplifted voice. Her stories are indeed a testament of strength and spirituality. Although she writes about the most intimate details of her journey you know that she is sending you a heart felt message. Sturges is truly a gifted writer.

This book reminded me so much of my own journey in life. I was able to relate to most of her stories. I cried and laughed while reading this book. I highly recommend this book to all women. You won't want to put it down.

A very highly recommended, deeply personal glimpse
Cassandra Sturges is an African-American high school dropout who completed her G.ED., earned two masters and a doctoral degree, and became a counseling psychologist and founder of New Beginnings Social Development Program offering counseling services for families in the foster care system. A Woman's Soul On Paper is more than just Cassandra's personal memoir; it is also a testament to strength, independence, and spiritual faith. The gifted, earnest style of the narrative completely draws the reader into Cassandra's adolescence and personal travails. A Woman's Soul On Paper is a very highly recommended, deeply personal glimpse into the conflicts, choices, and struggles involved in understanding and learning to celebrate contemporary African-American female identity.

A LOOK AT MYSELF THROUGH THE EYES OF MY SISTER FRIEND
I found "A WOMEN'S SOUL ON PAPER" To be rivoting and thought provoking. Ms.George-Sturgis is a very talented writer who is well on her way to becoming a member of an "elite" group of author's not only within the African-American community, but world wide. Beauty and the Beast (Step into Reading, Step 3, paper)
Published in Paperback by Random House Books for Young Readers (11 April, 1995)
Author: Kathy Mitchell
Amazon base price: $3.99
Used price: $3.10
This beloved old French fairy tale has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. Beauty, as you may recall, is the youngest daughter of a devoted father who has fallen on hard times. Returning from a journey, he picks a rose for his daughter, enraging the owner of the rosebush, the fearsome boarlike Beast who inhabits a nearby castle. As payment for the rose, Beauty must leave her family and reside in the Beast's castle as his companion. She gradually comes to appreciate the Beast's kind nature, and, after leaving him to visit her family, realizes that she has fallen in love! Beauty willingly returns to her Beast, in time to break the spell that has caused his current, beastly countenance and restore him (and the servants in the castle) to their human forms.

Jan Brett--well-known for her artistry in Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Mitten--has worked her usual magic on this beautiful edition of Beauty and the Beast. In a unique visual spin on the story, the tapestries hung on the walls of the Beast's castle reveal the true identities of the animal servants who are under the same spell as the Beast--a subtle, fascinating feature that may not be noticed until the second or third reading. The story's old-fashioned and graceful language perfectly accompanies the French court setting. One of the finest takes on this classic tale, Brett's Beauty and the Beast is described by Kirkus Reviews as "a lovely, carefully made edition of an old favorite." (Ages 5 to 8)

What Fairy tales are supposed to be!!!
Jan Brett's illustrations are so colorful and richly drawn that you could tell the story without the words if you wanted to. Her illustrations are magical.
This book is a wonderful telling of the fairy tale. The true meaning of the tale comes shining through. The illustrations bring life to the printed words.
You will love this book.

Beautiful illustrations
Jan Brett's books are always richly and beautifully illustrated. There is always a little extra "story" in the illustrations. In this one, you will be watching the animal servants throughout the book. Pay close attention to the tapestries in the background to see who these animals really are. My favorite are the monkeys. This version is very much like the original French fairy fale, and is well told.

Gorgeous!!
I got this book years ago when I worked for the publisher. I've given this book as a gift many times. The illustrations are just breathtaking and whimsical. You will find yourself stopping and searching the pictures in the middle of the story. The story is very nicely done and my kids enjoy it much more than the Dineyized version storybook they have.

Great for anyone interested in movies
When you're looking for a way into what you know will be a competitive career, it's good to know there's so many options available. With this book, I was able to line up my background to find the right point of entry. Additionally, it really helped with learning all the jargon of the film industry. It gives you a real insiders feel. The writing breezes along with humor, insight and lots of practical advice. I'm always buying copies for my friends and I go back to it often just to refresh.

The Most helpful book I have ever read
This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn about all the jobs that are found on a film set. It gave me more options and helped me find what job is right for me. It helped me realize that you can start small and end big, and I recomend it to everyone.

An awesome reference and fun to read.
When I first read the book, I was in my last year of college and didn't know which directions to head towards the career I wanted in film. I found many books, but this one definitely stood out form the others. It gave me a list of every career opportunity in the film business and how to get started. I am now working my way up the ladder to a successful career. I highly recommend this to every one that expects to achieve their goals in film.

The greatest criminal book of all times!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi! guys. If you are gonna buy this book, it is the best thing you are going to do. This book is the greatest of all the criminal and courtroom books i have ever read. This book is the perfect example of the ingenuity and imagination of its author, Erle Stanley Gardner. It is due to books like this, that he is listed in the Guiness Book Of World Records as the highest selling author of all times. I personally give this book, the highest rating possible.

"A Cross between a Saint and a Devil"
This is the fourth Perry Mason books written in 1934 and I think it is one of the best. The story was very well plotted; at the beginning a strange and tense relationship between two couples attracted me; and the ending was surprising! And Mason's characteristics, "a cross between a saint and a devil" was written remarkably in this early book.

you never suspected it
a client calls for a will and a howling dog . the next day he runs away with his neighbors wife leaving behind the CORPSE of her husband and perry mason in a very embarrising position.or did he? must read . on of the best gardners book.

Exciting and entertaining
This is another one in the American Girls series about Josefina Montoya, a ten-year-old girl living in the New Mexico of 1824 (actually January of 1825). In this book, the Christmas season ends with a successful party. However, just as the new year begins with a high note, Josefina feels the world pulled out from under her when her aunt Dolores announces that she is leaving the rancho and returning to Santa Fe. They are happier with Tia Dolores living with them, and they know that their father is. And so, the sisters begin their scheming...

The final chapter of this wonderful book is a highly informative look at the changes New Mexico experienced as it changed over the years. I must also mention that Jean-Paul Tibbles' lovely illustrations are an excellent addition to the story.

This final book in the Josefina story is every bit as wonderful as the first one, and definitely maintains the American Girls' tradition of excellence. The story is exciting and entertaining, and I especially liked how the author wove Josefina's faith into it, making it appear the natural part of her life that it would have been. My daughter and I loved this book, and we both recommend it to you and your daughter.

a very good book form the American Girls Collection
Changes for Josefina is one of the better books in the American Girls Collection. In the book, Josefina and her sisters have party for their friends and neighbors. After the party, Tia Dolores announces that she wants to move back with her parents. When Josefina and her sisters find out the real reason that Tia Dolores wants to leave, they find a way to get her to stay.

"Good Book *****************"
About a girl named Josefina who lives in 1824. She is Mexican and lives on a ranch with her dad and sisters and aunt. Her mom died two years ago. Her aunt who she calls Tia Dolores is going to leave and Josefina wants her to stay. Will her daring plan work?

A Much-Maligned Evolutionary Wonder
OK, I admit I used to be among the majority who reacted in revulsion to these creatures and whose first instinct was to squash it--quickly!

Reading Schweid's fascinating book changed all that. The highly adaptable cockroach will probably outlive humans. They're perfectly designed scavengers and extremely good at proliferating their species.

The book combines a mixture of fact, anecdotes and fictional excerpts that explore the nature & habits of the cockroach as well as its uneasy relationship with humanity.

One of a selective number of books I actually had to buy. And, as a footnote, on a recent trip to D.C., I went to the Smithsonian and held a giant Madgascar hissing cockroach. And I like it!

Much More Than Roaches!
Gabi Ogg's review is on the money. Plus, this book, to my surprise, was about much, much more than cockroaches. You'll also learn perhaps more than you ever wanted to know about Managua, Nicaragua's, outcast waifs, the cockroaches of human society. They sniff rivers of glue manufactured by an apparently rather cold-hearted American company. The author uses cockroaches as a stepping off point to discuss poverty and other thoughtful issues. A mentally crunchy book, not unlike the subject matter itself.

Fascinating
There are fascinating random factoids on nearly every page. My coworkers and most friends don't care to hear all my new knowledge, unfortunately. Not exactly cocktail party chitchat. But extremely interesting to learn about. Mating habits, nervous systems, favorite foods, pheromones, molting, it's all here!

The besst book ever!
I have never read a book as good as this. Katerina is a couragous young woman who sets out to gain her horses back after her village destroyed and she sets out to find the man who stole her virginity. The tables turn on her though. I loved this book and I know you will too.

Cry, but don't be ashamed
This book makes every pore in my body want to cry. It's a battle of wits and pride between the heroine (kat) and the hero. It is by far the best book written by Fern Michaels. It takes place in an interesting time nad makes you wish you a bystander to watch all this happen. Read it!

Absolutely great!!! Loved this book!!!
WhiteFire by Fern Michaels is wonderful. Although Russia is not my favorite setting for books, this one is an exception. From word go you fall in love with Katerina. She is wonderful as a character. You have to read this one for a really great book!

Gorgeous Poetry
I have had the pleasure of studying under Connie Voisine and have found her to be, both in her work and in her life, one of the most insightful people I have ever met. Her poetry grabs the reader with strong images, varied techniques, and a voice that sets her above most poets today. She hasn't received nearly enough credit for such an amazing piece of work. Her art is transcendant and powerful while maintaining a voice that the reader can grab hold of and understand. Whether you're an avid poetry reader or just beginning to start a collection of works, I would highly recommend this book.

Stunning verse
Voisine's book of poems deserves much attention. It is, by my reckoning, among the top twenty collections of American poetry published in the last five years. Though her forms and contents are unlike the following poets, Voisine brings to mind the power and scope of Alan Shapiro, Louise Gluck, and perhaps Edward Hirsch from an earlier era. Everyone should read books like this; failing that, anyone interested in reading or writing poems should pick this one up.

An Amazing Book
Cathedral of the North is a stunning book. The imagery is haunting, and the language is precise. I turn to it often. Everyone who cares about poetry should read it.

Exciting projects for preschoolers!
This book provided hours of fun for my four-year-old. We were pleased that we always had simple household items and paper to complete the projects. This book can be used as ajumping off point to many other creative projects.

Paper, glue, and scissors
All that is needed are these three items, and you can make the cutest crafts! Because of the easy supply list, we use this book so much more often than other books that you might not have the needed supplies on hand for. This one we keep right in the kitchen and the children can make things whenever they like! we just got it for Christmas and have already made lots of the projects! and there is room to be creative - just using the ideas as examples and taking it from there.

Teachers, get this art book!
For the last several years my summer school has included art every day for students whose ages range from 6-13. This book has an excellent selection of art projects that are appropriate for all these ages. Everything is made using construction paper, scissors and glue, which are readily available in the school supply room, are inexpensive and easy to work with. The projects turn out bright and colorful. My class has just completed a lively mural of a pond habitat after making fun frogs, fish, turtles and other aquatic creatures and plants, using ideas from the book.

I love the instructions and lay-out of the book. The steps and resulting project are clearly shown in large drawings with minimal text, so it just takes a few minutes to read through each project.

Some of the projects feature geometrical designs and patterns, which allow substantial room for creativity, some fold and curve paper to make them three dimensional. There is a good variety of themes including animals, seasons, nature, a still life, a robot, and a couple of cultural items. Although I haven't done it yet, the Panamanian mola looks like it will turn out stunning.

If I want to stick to using paper, glue and scissors for my art classes, this book will give us plenty of fun and attractive projects to do for several weeks. Parents will also find it a great source for young artists at home.
