WOW. This is a real work of research. The amount of detail and care that has gone into this study of Warhol's early paintings is not to be believed. The editors have compiled a completely staggering amount of information about each work shown here--and who knew there were so many original paintings?

My only complaint is the book's design, which doesn't seem to have anything to do with Warhol's own aesthetic. The pictures are beautiful, but the words are tough on the eyes--the table of contents is especially awful. This is really a shame, because you can see pictures of Warhol paintings in lots of places. I don't know where you'd find all this wonderful data, though. (Put it on CD-ROM!)

It's definitely an expensive book, but unmatched, as far as I can tell, in its field. Bravo!

This book is an absolutely beautiful celebration of angels. Breathtaking full color pictures bring the book to life, and the poems and quotes included add to the book's stunning effect.

This is the best book I have found as a detailed reference for animal anatomy, with a complete description for every muscle on the horse's body. If you are prepared to do a lot of reading and in depth study, I highly recommend this book.

This book by Hugh Laidman is one of the best that I have ever seen. It gives you a factual step-by-step process of how to draw animals. It is beautifully illustrated and the book tells you differant art techniques on drawing the animals. The book begins with easier animals to draw, then it slowly advances into more difficult postures and animals. In this book, there are all the animals from anteaters to baboons, and vultures to hyenas. I highly recomend this book for anyone who enjoys learning new art techniques and drawing a colorful variety of animals.

My entire family of various ages, particularly my 3 year old ,enjoys looking at this book,over and over again.Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a familar or unfamilar animal, accompanied by a finely detailed drawing.An inspiration of artwork!

This entire of collection of four books (Annunciation, Last Supper, Crucifixion, Descent) will be a treasure to all those who love great art and especially those attracted to religious art. Each book is beautifully bound in its own brilliant metallic color: gold, silver, bronze and copper. The unique size and color of the books make this set aesthetically pleasing. It is a wonderful collection to display on any shelf. The prints, more than 100 in each book, are of superb quality. Phaidon, the publisher, is recognized for excellence and elegance in all their printing. There is scant text; each book has a New Testament scriptural preface, then a brief caption accompanies each image.

As the titles project, a central event in Christ's life is elucidated by the world's best artistic masters; each brings their own commentary to the selected Christological theme. Most enjoyable, and educational, is the progression through time, starting with early art pieces and finishing with contemporary masters: Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol and Craigie Aitchison to mention just a few. From beginning to end, each book is a wonderful journey through time.

In "Annunciation," a book more about Mary than her son, each artist strives to capture this phenomenal encounter; a meeting unlike any other recorded in history. The Apostle Luke wrote; "the Angel Gabriel was sent from God... and he came to her and said..." Each photo plate vividly shows through form, color and light this astonishing angelic address. The progression of art shows how Mary's image has changed over the last two millenniums. This is a wonderful book, in a fantastic collection, at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended

ANOTHER LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS is a monograph of paintings, both finished and in preparatory sketches, each oil on canvas and rather large in size, that are gathered and presented with the titles assigned to each painting by poet friends of the painter. Dorothea Tannning has created twelve elegant and dreamy blossoms and pairs each painting with a poetic response by some of our most gifted poets today - James Merrill, Adrienne Rich, John Ashbery among them. The result is a beautiful little book that speaks quietly to our sense of beauty. Here is a treasure book to not only add to your bedside stand to close the day with sweetness, but here is also that 'book for someone special' that is ever on the list for readers and art lovers alike. Highly recommended.

I have owned my copy for three years and have referred to it many times. It is well written and illustrated. I highly recommend it.

It is well written and focuses on a broad spectrum of case studies from all over the world. A must read for both professional and popular audiences.
