My Little Artist
I thought that this was a charming book and actually bought it for myself when I saw it. It had a wonderful message that children should hear and adults should remember....

Looking with Your Heart
My Little Artist by Donna Green is a lovely book that spans generations. My mother-in-law was a wonderful artist who related to my young daughter in much the same way as depicted in this book. It is a sensitive illustration of truths about life, art, love and the special connections between young children and their grandparents. The illustrations are especially wonderful, and I believe would be interesting to young children as well as adults. It will be a pleasure to own a copy and to give as a gift.

What a sweet little book!
My mother gave me the moon and this adorable book! Each page has one of Becky Kelly's beautiful watercolor illustrations and a sweet note about the woman in our lives that we all hold so dear - our mother. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the wonderful sense of color and design - a hallmark of Becky's artwork. This tiny treasure makes a perfect addition to my growing collection of Becky Kelly books and journals. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this tiny book that I will treasure forever.

My Mother Gave Me The Moon
I originally got this book for myself because of the exquisite illustrations. If you are familiar with Becky Kelly, you know how beautiful her art is. Just looking at the pictures takes me back to my wonderful childhood. However, after I read it, I had to give it to my mom for Mother's Day because everything in it is my mom! She also loved it - it left a tear in her eye! If you want to give a gift that will really touch a mom's heart, this is it.

A unique and impressive blend of art and poetry
My Painted Dreams is a unique and impressive blend of art and poetry by Mahvash Mossaed, a female Iranian-American. The monochromatic yet powerful images add power to the simple, fluid free verse of life, death, spiritual essence and the quest to find meaning in life. A profound, evocative, and wondrous book, and a "must" for true devotees of insightful poetry. The Poets: The poets stand in the rain,/They wear no raincoats./They have no umbrellas./They are discussing the shadow of a shadow of a shadow.//But their poetry is already soaking wet--/They have not developed their reality muscles/So they walk with a limp while admiring the color of a vein in a leaf.

My Painted Dreams by Mahvash Mossaed
It is a wonderfully done piece of work. I enjoyed each poem next to the beautiful art work that Mahvash has done. She is truly a gifted artist and poet and writer. I would like more works of hers. THey relaxed my mind and yet gave me something to think about with each poem. I took my time to read each one as they were pleasurable to take the time and give to each poem individually. Great work Mahvash!

Excellent!
This book is so neat! It is a great mystery story and is fun to read. Since this book is part of a series, you might expect all the books to be boring, right? Wrong, some are actually really good! I think this is the best of the series that I have read so far! Read this, you won't forget it!

good

A very unusual autobiography by a child of the Shoah
For sure, many books have been written by survivors of the Shoah, and by children and now grand-children of victims or survivors. I hope that each of them finds many readers. I have read many, looking in each of them for a testimony of the cruel fate of my own people. I was specially appealed by the book of Genia Benezra Tyrangiel. Through story, poems and paintings, she conveys the feelings of the orphaned jewish child saved from the ghetto, and of the prominent woman that she became. The parallel use of three languages ( polish, french and english) gives a very poetic strength to this unusual autobiographical essay.

Moving and beautiful
I could only read the french and english parts, but I was very moved, the poems are beautiful. It seems amazing that someone would have such amazing painting talents hidden for so long. Since it is important to never forget, one should definitely read and read , and read again this book.

Wonderful Book
This watercolor book is a favorite of mine. The author describes and shows ways to do watercolor for everyone from the beginner to advanced painter. He gives demos that are interesting, informative and fun to do. I have used this book as reference over and over again and always will.

Natural Watercolour
As a returning art student this book is excellent. The author gives clear concise information as to the colors used to achieve the desired effect, as well as, wonderful step by step easy to follow guidelines. I have many books but none that have helped me more with color, composition, glazing and the delight of watercolor. This book is a must book for the beginner as well as the intermediate and advanced painter.

The New Complete Van Gogh : Paintings, Drawings, Sketches
The New Complete Van Gogh : Paintings, Drawings, Sketche

An absolute must-have book for Van Gogh enthusiasts.
Dr. Jan Hulsker's 1996 catalogue raisonné of Van Gogh's complete works is a treasure for anyone interested in the life and works of Vincent van Gogh.

Jan Hulsker is one of the world's foremost scholars on Vincent van Gogh and this book is the first new catalogue of the complete works to come along in 26 years. The listings are updated and the commentary--as one would expect from Dr. Hulsker--is crisp and insightful.

This book is an invaluable part of my Van Gogh library--I honestly couldn't get along without it in my own studies of Van Gogh's art.

New York School Abstract Expressionists: Artists Choice by Artists: A Complete Documentation of the New York Painting and Sculpture Annuals; 1951-1957

Almost Perfect - very important
Seems to be the first book that truly begins to cover the New York Crowd with any thoroughness...would truly like to have seen representative works by all the painters covered (perhaps in a series of addenda???) Otherwise an invaluable book for reference of that most fruitful ten years in American (and perhaps world) art history.

Best and Most Complete Study of The NY School to Date!
New York School Abstract Expressionists: Artists Choice by Artists is an important contribution to the study of Abstract Expressionism. 265 artists are documented and 86 are featured. If you are like me, a bit tired of the usually featured artists of the New York School(Pollock, Rothko, Tobey, etc.) then you will be pleasantly suprised by the "Other Talented Artists" that comprised the New York School.

The starting point is the historic 9th Street Show of 1951. This is thoroughly discussed as are the subsequent New York School Artist's Annuals of 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, and 1957. Numerous charts, posters and photographs are included, showing which artists were in which shows. Scholars have pretty much neglected these significant shows which featured the best of the "New Art".

As I stated earlier, 86 artists are featured. Each of these artists have 2 works shown (full page) and an artist's statement. The reproductions are excellent. There is also a Bio, and a listing of solo exhibitions and group exhibitions for each of these artists. An amazing amount of research and love went into this new production. You can discern that there were many "greats" in the NY School. You can see that the NY School was actually a bonafide community of artists. I will list the artists with an "A" and B" last name, just to give you an idea of the breadth of this work: Aach, Abbott, Abrams, Adams, Agostini, Albers, Albert, Albizu, Alcopley, Anderson, Andrews, Arnold, Asawa, Asher, Avery, Barber, Baziotes, Beauchamp, Beck, Ben, Benton, Biala, Blaine, Bolotowsky, Booth, Bouche, Bourgeois, Brach, Brenson, Briggs, Brooks, Brustlein, Bultman, Busa, and Button.

This 393 page book was sumptuosly printed and has a 12" x 9 1/2" format. It has a black cloth binding and a handsome dust jacket with ALL the names of the NY School artists. This silver dust jacket has black and red lettering which pops-out and is a stunning tribute to the artists.

I can only hope that there will be more books on these "Other Artists of the New York School of Painters and Sculptors".

Nina's Book has such innocence, enthusiasm and vitality.
It's sort of a cross between a journal and a sketchbook, with drawings by Haring and lots of space for a child's own drawings and thoughts. I gave it to my son a couple of years ago. To be honest, he didn't get off on it, so a couple of days ago I asked if he would be willing to pass it on to his 9 year old sister, and she's been working on it ever since. I'd ignore Amazon's age recommendations. It's good for the artistically inclined, especially girls, up to at least age 11 or 12.

Great for kids of all ages
Keith Haring's book is wonderful! Kids can write their own stories, draw their own pictures and collect their own treasures in this beautiful giant book. Haring's drawings and funny comments make this fun to read even without your child's input. My nieces and nephews (from age 6 to 12) immediately started writing and drawing and couldn't put their "Big Books" down! It's a book they will always treasure, because they wrote most of it themselves!

The North Light Pocket Guide to Painting Skies (North Light Pocket Guides)

Dont Leave Home Without It !!!!!!!!!
This little book is absolutely wonderful for many different reasons. For starters, it is small, bound in a nice hard cover with a spiral spine, making it easy to use in the field and easy to fit into your Artbin paint case.

Every beginner struggles with painting skies, and this book is a very nice, focused treatment of the subject. Patricia Seligman lays out many colorful examples in a wide range of media, all organized systematically (Clear Sky, Light Cloud, Dense Cloud, Layered Cloud, and each of these with examples at Early Morning, Midday and Evening). Seeing how many different ways artists have approached this one subject is both inspirational and educational.

There is a nice section on how to mix blues and grays, with lots of color swatch examples of color progression.

For such a small book, there are also lots of general painting techniques, tips and composition theory are included.

I paint in the field, and of all the books on painting I've acquired, this is the one that goes with me.

Very Highly Recommended.

A perfect pocket guide
I have been using a borrowed copy of this book and want to get my own copy as I find it so useful. In a compact format that can be taken on location easily, it provides a comprehensive guide to painting skies in all weathers, times of day and media. Indispensable for any landscape artist.
