Amazing Photo-realistic ArtworkThis is a book of vibrant new aviation art from the American Society of Aviation Artists. There are 112 paintings by 32 artists mostly done from 1975-1990. Each is a full page in brilliant color on heavy stock. The paintings are arranged chronologically by subject matter from World War I to the Space Shuttle. Here you will find most of history's famous aircraft as well as some of the most rare and unusual. The style of these paintings is photo-realistic and highly detailed. Each is historically accurate and the complete story behind the painting is given on the opposite page. Information on the artists is also included. This is a great book for the student of aviation history as well as the art fan. The plates would look great framed if you could bear to remove them from the book.
If you buy only one aviation art book, buy THIS one.Great variety. Good write ups that let you get to know the artists. Lots of great work is out there from the American Association of Aviation Artists. This allows you see some of it.It is about time for Volume Two.

The best!!!My 13 month old son just got this as a gift - and he loved it! It's so cute. It's a little fabric book with teethers and mirrors. He just kept turning the little fabric pages and admiring himself in the mirror. This is really small and would fit easily into a diaper bag or mom's purse! It's absolutely adorable! A Must Have! Baby Einstein products are great!
Perfect!I have always loved Baby Einstein products, especialy their soft books, they are great for young babies. When I saw my cousin's baby with this teether book I knew I had to buy it for my daughter. It is a book, a teether, a rattle, and an entertainment center all in one. It's great. When we go places, this is the one toy I always remember to bring along. It will keep my 4 month old busy no matter where we are. I highly recomend this book/teether/rattle... Now Baby Einstein makes toys too! I already ordered some of them from amazon and I can't wait to get them.

A "MUST HAVE" FOR PET LOVERS . . .this heartwarming story about a boy and his dog is even more special, knowing it's based on the artist's own childhood and illustrated with his paintings. Sisters Audrey and Ellen tell Tim Brown's story beautifully.
The relationship between Bark & Tim reminded me of pets I've loved and lost, bringing tears to my eyes. My son asks for it often, as he enjoys Bark's antics.
BARK & TIM is the perfect addition to a pet lovers library!
A bittersweet, tender tale of love and lossDeceptively simple, Bark and Tim brings you an age-old story of friendship, that between a boy and his beloved dog. Tim Brown's colorful folk art and the spare (but evocative) text will engage and delight children, while it helps them to understand that, through art, we can keep our friends in our hearts forever.

One of the greatest art books ever written.Armin Zweite's chronology of the life and work of Barnett Newman is absolutely fantastic. Written in a compact style hitherto unknown by art commentators the book flows from one anecdote to another. Complete and well referenced, the book is as complete as one would wish without ever being overbearing. Given the limited scope of Newman's work I would have hope that all prints were in color but alas only about 50% are color. Still the works are presented logically and connections are made throughout the book. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended for anyone. HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended for the abstract art enthusiast.
Barnett Newman : Paintings, Sculptures, Works on Paperit is exelente book if you need same ideas ,for your paintigs this book it's greatfull

A joy to simply page through at leisureBig Bend Landscapes by Texas painter Dennis Blagg is a breathtaking, coffee-table artbook of oil on canvas landscapes so captivating, they seize and hold one's attention as surely as the finest of photographs. Mood, mystery, natural serenity in the Big Bend National Park of Texas fill these compiled outdoor paintings austere mountains and dry deserts with a very special dignity and beauty. A joy to simply page through at leisure, each individual painting is enhanced with a brief but informative commentary in this outstanding and memorable collection.
In Love with LandscapesUnique landscape artist, Dennis Blagg, shares selected paintings and drawings of West Texas. He captures more than the camera can and his style evokes a viseral response. Perhaps you must have "been there, done that" to appreciate that each one is a gift. Blagg also shares brief notes with each entry. That adds a personal touch with a underlying theme of conservation for this special landscape. I must confess I skipped right past the introduction by Ron Tyler and straight to the views of the Chisos that I can't get out of my mind.
Big Bend Landscapes is a feast for the heart and soul for all you Big Bend National Park lovers out there and believe me there's a lot of them. Dive into all the moods of the desert and let it carry you away. I just returned from a trip to Big Bend on Feb 25, 2003 and my question is "Was it real or was it Blagg?" Make the book purchase and do the trip and you be the judge.

An interesting formatMy Advanced Art teacher was thrilled with this pop up and wanted to know where I got it in order to use it as a teaching tool. It appeals to both the young and old by educating the reader about art through a fun and artsy pop-up tour.

A family favoriteFrank Asch's simple illustrations are so soothing to children. My som loves to read his stories over and over. I don't mind reading them because they are so pleasing to look at. This book shows Ben bear who has painted a picture of his mother at school. Ben is bringing the picture home to her when he meets with many friends. Each friend offers a suggestion for improving the picture. In the end, the portrait of mama bear has the eyes of an owl, the teeth of an alligator, the mane of a lion and the neck of a girraf. Naturally, mama bear thinks it is the most beautiful picture ever and hangs it up. This is a very sweet story!
Number One BookThis book is so funny.I want to make a bear like that. What I need is paint, paper, paintbursh, and animals.

Terrific BookI agree with the review by pqbdpq. I want to add that the artist that worked on the book paints Zen inspired images in large format with a large cotton mop and a lot of ink. That changed my perspective considering the images in the book are actually much larger in real life.
a witty and amazingly beautiful bookThis book is an artistic approach to the teachings of zen. Tanahashi also includes his own wit and humor which makes this book a thought-provoker and a real feel good too. It brings up many interesting ideas while explaining his own approach to oneness through art. This book includes many short poems, short thoughts and tons of beautiful paintings. These paintings, each named "mind #", coupled with his thoughtful sayings make for a perfect product. This is one book I read over - atleast once a week, its contents bring peace and humor to my life. I highly recommend it.

High quality facsimile and original binding.A very original way of binding to keep the idea of a scroll. The quality of the paper and images is very good. A book to be collected.
One of the most astounding publications...While not a textbook or a 'fieldguide' to Buddhist practice and belief, THE BUDDHA SCROLL is an amazing visual treat, a fantastic technical achievement and a delight to all those who enjoy the study of iconology. Image after image unfolds before the eyes revealing Buddhas,Bodhisattvas,Dieties and Notables from every school of Buddhism- from the most familliar (Avalokisteshvara) to the more obscure (White Leaf Buddha Mother). An eclectic collection of imagery with a fascinating history which is well expounded in the consise introduction... you get more than you would expect from the price.

Straight stuffThis is an excellent book for any level watercolorist.I have read an uncommonly large number of how-to books(being self -taught) yet still found much helpful info here. In particular, her advice to avoid using tube paints that have dried, goes against info provided by every other source I have read----but I am sure she is right. You need to read her section on this subject---worth the price of the book by itself(and I am not being paid for this)!!!
Colorful!Instructive chapters beautifully illustrated by Treman cover ideas and concepts for the beginner to the advanced watercolorist. She gives watercolor basics and gradually builds to more complex instruction (composition, importance of value, mixing colors). Especially unique to Treman is her chapter on "disappearing purple" which gives insight into new concepts of shading while still maintaining fresh clean colors.
