A Must Read For African Americans In The New MillenniumThis book was an awesome read. Fraser was focused and expected nothing but the best from himself and others. He recognized the role that race plays in our society; however, he refused to allow it to limit his personal or business life. He offered insight on how to succeed as a minority in corporate America by encouraging and promoting racial pride, self-help, and self-development. This book will encourage anyone, however it should be required reading for all minorities. In spite of all of life's challenges, including the color of my skin, the author inspired me to push, dig, fight, and expect to win this game called life.
Don't hesitate-buy this book immediatelyThis book is tremendous. It actually exceeded my expectations. This is one of those rare times when a book lived up to it's hype. I have already read certain parts over again. It serves as a constant source of inspiration. It g ives you an opportunity to focus on the areas of interest to YOU. My favorite sections is the contact information in the back of the book, and the seven morals and principles of success.
Unusually POWERFUL and UNIQUE"Race For Success" is the fuel necessary to participate in this marathon called "Life." An unsually powerful and unique combination of sound principles, historical perspective, motivation, knowledge and resources, the book is a true call to action. It is a tool for personal growth, economic empowerment, community revitalization, and much, much, more.

A wonderful overview of relay for the first time consumer.I have been involved with relay for the last 15 years and this is the first book I have encountered that provides a broad perspective on how to use relay for the first time consumer. The book gently encourages anyone who is not able to use their phone, due to a hearing loss or a speech disability to explore relay as an option to allow communciation via the phone. I strongly encourage everyone to read this book to better understand the tools that are available to open phone line accessibility to all people.
Great for people with disabilities who use telecommunicationThis impressively comprehensive yet concise resource provides essential information on telecommunications and disability that will be highly useful to professionals, AT users, and families. I will use it with my clients in clinic, and will recommend it to my students in university courses. The text even covers potential uses of and resources for Morse code in AAC/AT and telecommunications for persons with sever disabilities! Overall: an interesting and clear presentation of much useful info...a must for my professional bookshelf
This book is a concise, complete resource guide.I am impressed at the scope and depth of coverage in this book -- even coverage of how Morse Code can be used by persons with severe disabilities to aid their telecommunication efforts. I recommend this book highly to anyone interested in telecommunications, disability studies, assistive technology, and/or augmentative & alternative communication.

The Boom of Biotechnology and its implicationsThe Body Electric deals with the science of the merging of biology and technology. In it, James Geary discusses the advances in biotechnology and provides a glance into the future when new technologies may replace organs and repair and enhance the senses. Devices made of silicon will eventually enhance the human brain and body in ways unheard of today. In the chapter titled Sight/Vision Thing, we learn that computers will be able to analyse facial expressions for various purposes. In the chapters Hearing/Sounds Of Science and Smell/Advances In Odour Space the possibility is raised of transporting odours and flavours via the internet and if this will become just another advertising tool. There are also Taste/Fun With Electric Tongues; Touch/The World Is Your Interface, in which haptic interfaces are discussed, and finally, Mind/The Sixth Sense. The convergence of biology and technology is a fascinating field; this book also addresses some of the psychological, sociological and philosophical implications of these future technologies. The discussion on new bionic senses becoming available is very interesting, like the possibility of seeing infrared and ultraviolet light, plus the possibility of hitherto unknown senses becoming available. The whole framework of existence is changing as the human body becomes electric, opening wider the doors of perception. This great book contains 13 illustrations and concludes with an extensive bibliography and a helpful index.

A web of prophecy, and the death of an Old ManThis is an absolutely fascinating book. It tells how the men of Ilahita, a village in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea, consciously and deliberately destroyed their secret men's cult (the Tambaran) by revealing its secret artifacts to the women. The book describes in a detailed but incredibly readable way how a prophecy contained at the end the Ilahita creation myth (involving the local lake and a Cassowary Woman) foretold the destruction of the cult, enmeshing the men and women of Ilahita on a downward spiral that even involves the anthropologist author in the second coming of the Cassowary Woman's "youngest son". It also describes the resulting damage to the village's gender dynamics, its cultural destruction at the hands of the Revival Christianity (now run by the women in a similar way to the method used by the men in the old Tambaran system), and the village's final loss of local power and land. Quite a tragic story, and one which has relevance to our own society's gender dynamics.
