Stacktesters' Bible
The 40CFR part 60 is the classic textbook of EPA Methods for determining the emissions rate of air pollutants from stationary sources. In addition to many of the regulations affecting industry, Appendix A of this book details the test methods most used by professional stacktesters. Dry, and highly technical, most readers will find this book nearly unreadable. The odd marriage of science and law provides a useful insight into the confusing world of environmental regulations. I would highly reccommend this book to anyone who is having a difficult time falling to sleep. People who need this book for their professional life should consider therapy.

Concepts In Hand Rehabilitation by Stanley and Tribuzi
This book was one of the required texts in our OT and Biomechanics class. I am currently an OT student on Fieldwork). This book contains an abundance of useful information. Although it was published in 1992, it has great value. The 17 chapters are: Functional Anatomy; Wound Healing; Clinical Evaluation; Sensibility Testing; Functional Evaluation; Wound Management; Therapeutic Exercise; Physical Agents & Electrotherapy Techniques; Splinting; Skeletal Injuries; Nerve Injuries; Tendon Injuries; Rheumatoid Arthritis; Cumulative Trauma; Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy; Traumatic Injuries of the Hand (crush injuries & amputations); Returning the Hand-Injured Patient to Work. In addition, there are appendixes that include procedure for taking volumetric, goniometric, and strength measurements. While you do need more detailed for modalities, splinting, exercise, and gonimetric measurements, this book is a helpful review of these topics. The entire book is well-organized throughout( i.e.any subheadings, etc.) which makes it an even more valuable reference and study tool. There are some good colored pictures depicting wounds, lots of black and white pictures depicting various treatments. The book also contains lots of good treatment ideas as well. Case studies at end of appropriete chapters do a great job of tying all the material in a chapter together. I feel this book should be a part of the professional library of any student or practicing OT.

An insightful look at nations and history itself
Expertly translated into English and adapted for an American readership by Thomas L. Kennedy, Confucian Feminist: Memoirs Of Zeng Baosun (1893-1978) is the remarkable autobiographical testimony and memoir of the late Zeng Baosun, a thoughtful and expressive woman who recounts her education abroad, to her survival through two world wars, to her life and exile in Taiwan, and even entails cogent observations on President Nixon's resignation from office. An insightful look at nations and history itself from a personal perspective, Confucian Feminist is a very highly recommended addition to Aisan Studies and Women's Studies reference collections and reading lists.

review
The book is important because most of nature, machines, and structures involve dynamical friction. The preface alone is worth the price of the book, along with a summary of the importance of friction in nearly everything. Excellent technical features are the wide range of simple to complex models, stability versus instability studies, well-presented results, and mathematical
approaches that transverse from the simple to the complex.

From The Journal of Southern History 64 (August 1998)
"Based on research in recently discovered material--some of which is printed in the appendixes to this volume--Papenfuse's closely argued and provocative work makes a substantial contribution. For it not only outlines the dimensions of Harper's dilemma but also suggests that more contemporaries than we have realized were aware that while their slaves were being impaled on one horn of the dilemma, they were being gored by the other. How else should we explain why Harper's neighbors in South Carolina voted fore him while they continued to buy slaves?"

Fund of Abnormal Psychology/PT: Science of Bio 4e/Volume
Published in Hardcover by W.H. Freeman & Company (December, 2000)
Author: Ronald Comer
Amazon base price: $16.00
Average review score:

One of the best textbooks I have ever used.
Abnormal Psych. by Dr. Comer is without a doubt one of the best textbooks I have ever used. Why? There are a number of reasons.

(1) This book has one author, so therefore the book speaks with one voice. Professors who wish to write books need to heed the adage "too many cooks spoil the soup." I am glad Dr. Comer did because he has written a text that is easy to follow, concept by concept.

(2) With regard to concepts: Many professors write textbooks as if other professors will be reading them. Not Dr. Comer. This text is not only appropriate for the graduate student, the unininitiated will benefit from this book as well. He uses lean prose, simple-to-understand language and synatx.

(3) Dr. Comer's book is very logically structured. He presents each psychopathology, looks at it from each perspective, e.g. psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, existential, etc., then he outlines how each school of thought would deal with the issue. The vignettes sprinkled throughout each chapter are very informative. A nice supplement.

I bought this book in order to get a handle on some of the principles of abnormal psych. before I take a graduate psychopathology course this fall. Not having had abnormal psych at the undergraduate or graduate level, I was looking for a text that would "bring me up to speed," before I start class this fall.

Thanks to Dr. Comer, I'll be ready!
