Crash Course to Enlightenment
This book is suggested, in my opinnion, for those people with a basic understanding of Buddhism. It should be a follow up to introductory texts, which explain some fundamental Buddhist beliefs and the system of thought from whence it comes.
This book is not written simply, and it is especially a text which should be studied in greater detail than say, a novel, becuase here are the rites of one path to awareness.
Ofcourse, some of the ideas are TOO MUCH, and one should be always be aware of the differences between our age and the age in which is was written, for back then times were different, teachers were less scarce, and the teachings far more accepted.
But this is a fundamental book which should be read. Take it with grain of salt, be aware, because it displays methods. And the results of those methods are what we are ultimately concerned with, things that change our perspectives, and in essence, ourselves.

Ms. Chateauvert illuminates an all-too forgotten segment of American history. The relationships and connections she highlights are remarkable. I highly recommend this book.

Great fun
"Men Seeking Women" is a genuinely entertaining collection of stories that all, in one way or another, center around sexual relations on the internet (with the curious exception of the last story by Po Bronson which, while good, doesn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the collection). This is a really strong group of stories that explores the impact of the internet on the interactions between the sexes in a variety of different ways and from a variety of different angles. Some of the stories were better than others, of course, but I particularly liked "Payback Time" by Gary Krist, which takes as its theme the way men develop powerful crushes on enigmatic women they encounter on-line but of whom they know nothing; "Minesweeper" by David Liss, which is about a serial internet liar and how he justifies his awful behavior to himself; "The Face in the Glass" by Paul Hond, which is basically just effective and creepy; and "Prisoners of the Heart" which is, perhaps, not particularly realistic, but a whole lot of fun.

Into the minds of our ancestors
If you have studied anthropology at all, this book is fascinating. This book takes you inside the minds of early mondern humans and offers a glimpse of how our ancestors might have thought, talked, and interacted socially within a group- The Kin- and between groups. It is unlike any other book I have read.

There are two stories going on in this book- one is all about Po and his group of people, and one sounds more like a legend, but I didn't really get how they fit together.

A collection of excellent articles
This book was published not only as a catalogue for the great exhibition "Splendors of Imperial China", also as a collection of excellent articles by leading scholars in the field of Chinese art and cultural history. Some of the most precious items selected for the exhibition eventually were not able to make it to the United States, nontheless they are included in the book(now you get a chance to see them on the paper.) The authors cleverly extended a study of visual artifacts to a colorful (though not complete) portraiture of the cultural evolution in China. This task is not easy, considering the fact that the imperial collection on which the National Palace Museum is based on was, for a large part, a reflection of the personal taste of the Ch'ien-lung emperor. For example, you will not find any significant piece of sculpture or wood-block prints in this book. On the other hand, the selection of paintings and ceramics (especially the Ju wares) are just superb. The only problem is its size, which prevents you bringing it around to show off the beatiful pictures in it. Still, it is a must-have reference for any serious readers who want to know more about Chinese visual culture

A beautiful and inspiring collection
Prayer Flags is a beautiful collection of "vajra songs of realization" and teachings of Jigten Sumgon, the great 12th century founder of the Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It includes short biographies of Gampopa, Phagmo Drupa and Jigten Sumgon, and teachings on the Fivefold Profound Path of Mahamudra, transforming the experience of death, and other practices. These ancient songs and teachings are expertly translated by Khenpo Konchog Gyaltsen and will be appreciated by anyone interested in Mahamudra or the Drikung Kagyu lineage.

Travel Russia for Free? Not impossible, can apply to world.

Anton tells us how to travel the world for free in this small book that is unfortunately not yet widely translated.

He is not only setting up the instructions for how to travel by hitchhiking, he's also spelling out his philosophy about being a good samaritan, trusting the basic goodness of mankind, and telling how you should try and be as kind to others as possible in terms of hospitality and helpfulness on the road.

In a world that is growing smaller even while individually we grow more distant to our neighbors due to TV and computers, Anton's stories of traveling around Russia and the world on pennies per day are quite amazing.

Reflections of a master
Qin Bo-wei was one of the great 20th century masters of Chinese medicine. This book is a collection of his essays on a wide range of topics in Chinese medical theory and internal medicine. Chip Chace and Zhang Ting-liang have succeeded in rendering a translation that is both reasonably palatable and reasonably digestible, using Nigel Wiseman's oft-maligned (even by yours truly) English language equivalents.

In these essays, Qin treated subjects ranging from an in-depth analysis of Liver stagnation patterns to a fundamental, yet detailed overview of the construction and modification of herbal prescriptions and the use of paired herbs. Like Liu Yi-ren's Heart Transmission of Medicine, this is an important resource for new practitioners, as it can clarify many confusing issues of organ theory and herbal treatment.

An old doctor can help make the connection between general principles and knowledge of clinical practice gained through experience. Qin was a great teacher as well as a great physician, and his learning lives on through these writings.
