Diamond in the Rough is a must have book for any parent who wants to help their child succeed with a learning disability. This book helped me understand the nature of my child's learning disability. It gave information I needed to make sure my daughter's school provided the support she needed. It gave excellent resources such as support groups, and other valuable information. More important, Diamonds in the Rough gave information about what my child could do for herself. These suggestions helped improve my daughter's self esteem, and she learned to enjoy school. My daughter is now in college and a lot of the credit goes to this book. There are a lot of books on the market about learning disabilities, but Diamonds in the Rough is second to none. It is a must have ! ! 5+ stars

This book by Peggy Dias, is an excellent resource for our geographical location. It is chalk full of where to go, how to find, etc. For those struggling with ADD or LD children.

We all want the best for our children and this book helps us get there.

I read the entire book in just a couple of days! I couldn't stop reading while finding a deeper purpose for my life. I've always been a very mental and spiritual person but I once thought that if I got a lot into meditation and yoga I would loose myself and end up wanting to do meditation in the Himalayas and abandon the life I currently have. This book has taught me how to apply eastern wisdom to our western practicality and how to balance a normal material life with the spiritual and fullfiling life I now have. Drs. Metz and Mccarthy have written the book that needed to be written. Finally, here is an easy to read book for both professionals and the general public which addresses a common sexual complaint that troubles so many men and their partners. Coping with Premature Ejaculation reaches new ground in the understanding and treatment of PE. The book is up to date, comprehensive, and easy to follow. It will remain a valuable resource for the future of comprehensive treatment for sexual difficulties.

I used this as my first year text for beginners spanish at university level for my Business Masters Degree. The class was fast moving and you were expected to stay up by studying at home. For that kind of class it is an excellent text and it pushes through the language quickly. Probably not so good for second level students where you have to drag them along a bit more slowly. The tapes that go along with it are a bit slow, but that's no harm for when you are a beginner.

I guess there are many reason to avoid the cost and optimization area, one of them is the darnkess in the searching data involved.But Jelen with his clear explanations and reasonable examples we give us an exelent approach to this area...

Pena explains that since design is problem solving, programming is, "the search for sufficient information to clarify, to understand, to state the problem."
Part One of the book is a primer, focusing on theory and principles. Part Two is the "how to do it" section, providing details and examples. The book is based on decades of real-life project examples from one of the most experienced architectural programming teams in the nation.


The core idea is profound: Separating programming (analysis) from design (synthesis), brings tremendous clarity to the design problem. Focusing first on the goals, facts and concepts, then translating those into quantifiable needs (independent of the solution!) facilitates decision-making and encourages innovation.


Reading this book won't make you an architectural programmer, but it provides an essential foundation for anyone involved in a building project--architects and owners alike. The book is used as a text book in architecture schools across the country, and is required reading before taking the Architectural Registration Exam. A 9 out of 10 only because it will leave you yearning for more.

I was pleased to find a reference book that I can use to find answers in a hurry when problems arise. It provided a nice overview of the "physical risks" and many insights into dealing with them to close the deal with problems. I particularly liked the chapter on Inspecting the Property - it lays out the process in manageble chunks and provides a simple way to take charge of the process even if you know as little about buildings as I do. As a Manager of Acquisitions, I am frequently in a position where I inspect property. I was able to find reference to subjects that I had been able to find little information on elsewhere - like "functional obsolescence", and "polybutylene pipe". The chapter on Investment Grade gives a lot of useful information on the different property types. The index is real good. I took it on a trip to Texas where the property that I visited was being built on land with "expansive clay". I was able to learn about it before a meeting with the owners and engineers and felt real good about that. I got an e-mail from my boss asking if I had ever heard of "gypsum roofs". I found it in the book and wrote back about it. I'm working on a deal with a concrete garage that needs repair and the book has been helpful with that too. I started reading about elevators and what to look for in old systems. I run into that all the time and never found anything else nearly as helpful. Overall, the book does well in providing engineering answers for the deal maker. I recommend it to anyone who deals with commercial property.

This is a cookbook I probably wouldn't have bought it I had been able to flip through its pages before hand. I always avoid cookbooks with color pictures of all the food since color photos seem to always mean they are trying to distract you from other problems. Since Amazon gave me a great discount on it with another book I was considering getting, I went for it. In the end, I'm not dissappointed.

The first 36 pages are info about Burma, and I must admit the color photographs are all excellent. The recipes call for a lot of ingredients that are hard to come by in the small town where I live (small enough that butter is sometimes hard to come by), but they also look great. They are layed out well, and are easy to read. Some ingrediants have alternatives, but not nearly enough to make this usable by people who don't live in metropolitan area with specialty stores.

I am Burmese and I bought this book so I could cook the food of my country. Everything is very authentic and reminds me of home!

Burmese cookbooks are hard to come buy: there are relatively few in print, and this joins only a handful of competitors to bring the food of Burma to the modern kitchen. Fine color photos of completed dishes supplement dishes which do require access to an Oriental market, but which are surprisingly easy to produce. Fans of spicy Asian dishes will welcome this Burmese presentation.
