Late Great Ken Uston's Tome of the Yellow One
There has not been a more comprehensive work dedicated to the subject of pac-man maze patterns/stratagems ever. Written by the manic and obsessed Uston, Mastering Pac-Man will certainly help you accomplish just that. From the cherry to the infamous 9th key patterns, are all illustrated, in cohesive, precise and straightforward manner; simple to digest and memorize. Wow your friends (or anyone who has the inclination and time to watch you play pac man for over 2 hours) and rack up seven figure sums with veritable ease! Also look for his other fine work Score! Beating the Top 16 Video Games. An interesting addition to the video game enthusiast's library wherever it can be found.

A Classic about a Classic
As exact replicas of the original PAC-MAN become increasingly available via gaming consoles, I think this book will resurface. This book is great for people like me-I loved PAC-MAN but was never really that good. Now, with this book, I'm becoming a winner.

This 128-page book was published in 1981, only a year after the release PAC-MAN. Part of the draw for this game is how Uston described the game of PAC-MAN:

"PAC-MAN, a little yellow fellow who looks like he has a smile on his face"

"The player grabs the red control knob (or 'joystick')"

"The ever present monsters soon catch up with and 'eat' PAC-MAN"

Besides being a classic, this book gives a great discussion of the game. The game of PAC-MAN is broken down into five patterns that are presented in a very easy-to-understand manner. These five patterns are all you really need to know to master PAC-MAN. The illustrations, though simple, are excellent.

Excellent Read and Reference
I too, as the above customer, bought this book to plan the installation of a PACS in our 150 bed hospital. The experiences of the authors and the depth of coverage was excellent for myself (RT/PACS administrator) and the chief of our department (radiologist) as we planned our PACS system. I learned everything I needed to have an intelligent conversation with the vendors we chose to deal with. Our next task will be voice recognition which the book discusses in detail. Thanks!

A PACS Planner's dream!
We are in the process of installing a system wide PACS system at our 350 bed hospital and this book was a god-sent. Explanations are clear and concise, pertinent for all levels of users. I am a radiologist, but our administrator and PACS (to be) administrator also gained much valuable information from this publication.

a witness to the greatest atrocity in history
This book is a great insight into the personality of the author Yehiel Dinur a.k.a Katzetik. The book stands on its own as a powerful recording of the events that took place in the life of the author during the holocaust. As with all of Katzetnik's books the events are heart wrentching. Particulary worth recalling in this book is when he for the first time goes to a beach in Europe during his medical treatment of the 1970s and exposes his arm that was tatooed in Aushwitz with his inmate number 135633. The scene is chilling and unforgetable. The premise of the use of LSD to come to terms with his lifelong nighmares about his experiences of the holocaust is secondary except for the fact that it is through this means that the author comes to terms with his pain caused by the cruel germans and their helpers. Overall, this book is an important read and is even more stunning if you read Katzetnik's other books. Katzetmik is one of the most powerful and important authors on the subject of the holocaust and his books are a must read for everyone lest the world forget what happened.

haunting good book
This book is not for the faint hearted or for the person whio is interested in history. The premise of the book is that the author relives his Aschiwitz experence through LSD treatment by a psychogist. Some things he remembers are likley to have happened to him, and some are a nightmare of things he cannot escape. If you want to read any of this authors books you need to have a strong stomach, It is a very rewarding and powerfull book if you are up for it

An excellent compilation of important facts and figures.
Richard H. Curtiss has presented a thoroughly documented text that attempts to present the underlying influence of pro-Israel lobbying groups on our legislature . This is a must read for American citizens interested in understanding how the interests of a foreign entity can sometimes compromise the values of the American Constitution.(p)

Curtiss understands the sensitivity of this subject matter and seeks not to blame, but only to inform common people such as myself on the extent of pro-Israel lobbying in mainstream USA. This book sheds the light on how effective grass roots lobbying and finacial contributions can motivate legislators to formulate foreign policy in a region where our nation has important commercial and diplomatic investments. The results can many times run counter to the interests of the American taxpayers.

Excellent, insightful
This book is an excellent insight to how tactics of major interest groups reacted to, benefited, or were derailed by the 1994 Republican take over of Congress. It is written extremely well with captivating stories, individualizing each interest group within its own chapter. A must-read for any Political Science major or government buff. Five stars!

Captain of Your Own Destiny
Budd Gondor has written an excellent guide to obtaining your Coast Guard license. From the mass of technical materials on navigation, boathandling, weather, et cetera - Budd has distilled a short book which captures the essence of the art of seamanship as needed to get the CG license and be called "Captain". His explanations and diagrams are clear and easy to understand. This book is more like sitting across the table from a "salty dog", where too many preparation books are more like having a oceanographic engineer lecture. No book will substitute for time on the water, but with some background, this book can help you get your license and learn from those 60 or 120 days of experience instead of having just one day of experience 60 times. It worked for me - 100 ton mate near coastal with towing endorsement first time!

A great study on corporate influence in the political proces
A sociological study of corporate PACs (Political Action Committees) which draws on anthropological work by Marcel Mauss concerning gift exchange (see The Gift: The Form and Reason for Exchange in Archaic Societies). Interestingly, campaign contributions act more like "gifts" than bribes, strengthening social networks, and creating obligations. It would seem that 90% of the legislation that corporations seek to pass invokes extremely narrow tax relief (covering only that corporation), though the wording is masked as it is very difficult to determine who the beneficiaries are. Also, this work broadly outlines what would be minimally acceptable for campaign finance reform- and the various bills that have been surfacing in Congress in the past 12 months don't even come close.

A standard text for US Coast Guard License Preparation
Gondor's book has for many years been the standard textbook for those recreational sailors studying for their US Coast Guard, OUPV (six pack) license or 50 to 100 ton Master License.

To put this book in perspective, these license tests are difficult. Five or six tests are required, one of which requires a 90% or above, and the rest require a grade of 75% or better. Many people have difficulty passing these tests--even experienced sailors often have to retake the first test.

Gondor explains the process well and gives you a foundation for passing these tests. Do not think that simply reading his book will give you everything you need to know to pass. You will want to make up flash cards and drill yourself on the meaning of lights, day shapes, and sound signals. You will also want to visit a test site and get familiar with the location of the referenced volumes available for use during the test.

I consider this book to be an essential foundation for preparation for the Coast Guard License listed above strong recommend this book for anyone interested in pursuing a USCG OUPV or above license.

Splash Hit! Pac Bell Park

Introducing The Most Beautiful Ballpark In Creation
Every fan of the the Giants should get this book and wallow in the beauty of Pacific Bell Park, if you can't get there yourself. The park really is probably the most beautiful ballpark in baseball, a tiny little gem that nevertheless plays like a huge pitcher's stadium thanks to the bizarre asymmetry of its outfield (and a San Francisco wind that the park's engineering turned into an ally, instead of the vicious Hawk it was at Candlestick Park.)

But it's also a great collection of essays from baseball writers including George Will and Peter Gammons, and local writers sharing memories of the team and the long years of waiting in the cold and fog for a world championship that still hasn't come. Those essays are some of the best parts of the book, moving and nostalgic in the best sense.

The body text, that tracks the long road from New York through Candlestick to the drama of building a new ballpark without the safety net of public money, then chronicles the great 2000 season, is little more than acceptable, but in a coffee table book what you want is gorgeous photographs and insightful vignettes, and "Splash Hit" has that in aces.

Awesome
Great pictures of what has to be one of the nicest sports facilities in the world. I've been to one game here - and as a resident of Seattle, I honestly think that Safeco is a better place to watch a game. However, no stadium can match the asthetic views and its situation in one of the most beautiful cities in the world makes Pac Bell #1.

A Great Book For A Great Ball Park
Pac Bell Park is one of the newest and one of the best ball parks in America. This book is a great tribute to that new park and the Giants' first year playing in it. The book goes into the history and politics behind the park and has a lot of good pictures of the 2000 Giants players in action. Peter Magowan and local and national writers also added illuminating essays to the text. There are a lot of spectacular pictures of the park from all different angles and some interesting construction shots.

A little disappointing was that the book did not have much on the Polo Grounds, Seals Stadium, and Candlestick Park. Even though the Giants no longer play at the old parks, their history is indelibly intertwined with the newer ball park and they deserved more space.

This belongs on any Giants fan's coffee table, especially if they have visited the park.
