Not bad reading
I got this book for my Marketing 101 class and is not that bad. It used real like cases of all sorts of companies to explain the concepts outlined in the book. I personally am not a fan of reading, especially for school, but this book is pretty good. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because I HAD TO buy it.

Its a very good book with power to let me understand
It has very good chapters. Cases are related to real life with topics about actual companies and their marketing strategies. This book contains the best knowledge for a biggener

Excellent Phonics Teaching Tool for the K-2 Teacher!
Easy Phonics Lessons for the Overhead comes with ready to use teaching manipulatives for the overhead. I love the punchout letters to use on the overhead. This book is the only place I have found punchout letters for the overhead! This book is great for the teacher who uses the Making Words program in their classroom. The book also comes with 10 transparencies which encourage interactive learning with students using a blackline copy of the teacher's transparency master. I searched and searched teacher stores in my area for this book... The teaching format of this book provides fun, interactive, hands-on approach to teaching phonics in the K-2 classroom.

Presentation of Data in Science: Publications, Slides, Posters, Overhead Projections, Tape Slides, Television: Principles and Practices for Author

A good, but older, book on the representation of data.
"Presentation ..." is an excellent summary of the biomechanics of recognition as applied to scientific presentations. Many of the methods described in the latter part of the book for illustration preparation are out of date, but the concepts are timeless. Of the books that the University of New Mexico library has on hand (Tufte's books are lost or permanently checked out) this is the best for the general scientist.

repeat and repeat!
i'm very disappoint on it! this book have only ONE method but it repeat hundred times! if you know how to use transparency, please don't buy this book!

Excellent Resource
This book is very easy to follow in making and playing the games. The kids love the games we play from this book. They even ask me to play certain ones over and over again. I've had better response from these games than any others I've used in my classroom.

This is great way for kids to learn & listen...
I have seen Ed use these overhead projecter games used. He can keep almost any kid still & listening. These games are alot of fun for the kids & even the adults who use them!!!

This Book Not for the Amatuer
Nice plans, but little instruction. Could benefit from pictures of more modest dwellings and projects more suited to the regular homeowner.

A good supplement to other, more detailed books, but unless you are an accomplished carpenter, don't make this your only book.

Good book... but beware of used book price gouging.
I found the book to be very helpful. Instructions, drawings and material lists are all very detailed. I have building experience. A novice may want to supplement with a "how to" book that covers techniques and tools. ("How to Build Small Barns & Outbuildings" by Monte Burch. <$13.95 at Amazon.com> is good) What I find disturbing is the price for the used copies of this book, ranging from $28 to $41. New, the book sells for only $9.95!!! Something's very wrong with this picture. But, for some reason, no new copies are for sale here. I wanted to purchase a new copy for my brother. At these rediculous used prices, I think I'll let him borrow mine.

Good book, but not for beginners
This is a good book with excellent plans and drawings, but it assumes you have a background in construction. It doesn't include much background info such as basic techniques and tools. It does have plans and material lists for 15 different structures. I consider this to be an excellent book to be used in conjunction with other books. If you want more "how-to" info, go with "Building Backyard Structures" by Levine, Begnal & Thornton.

Child Development: Its Nature and Course: Overhead Transparancies

Much room for improvement
I noticed that there will be a new edition of this text - I hope the authors took the criticisms of the old edition to heart. After using this book for a child development course, I was horrified to see how indeed very racist some parts of this book are. And it's the kind of new-age, oblivious breed of racism that is ironically based in a compulsion to be "diverse" and politically correct.

The depiction of the black family was too stereotypical - and thus offensive - for words. It almost became a satire of middle-class liberal racism, because the story of "Malcolm and Momma Jo" is obviously the way that the authors perceive the lifestyle of a typical African American family. Sroufe, et al should be ashamed of themselves.

These comments are meant to be constructive. I'm actually passionate about my psychology studies, have a 4.0 and hope to be a psychiatrist. I feel incredibly disappointed, shortchanged and offended to have had this book as our required text.

Dry but informative.
This book follows hypothetical situations of 4 kids, the writer's aging them as the chapters go thru developmental ages. The box has very good information, but is hard to read and a bit dry. I did learn a lot from the book, which is the purpose and would recommend it to others.

Child Development Textbook of top calibur
I felt the need to submit a review on this textbook, since the other reviews I read on the text not only didn't do justice, but didn't seem to have much thought and consideration put into them. Perhaps the reviewers with poor opinions on the text were using the book for a course they didn't care much for, and were taking merely to fulfill a general education requirement. In classes where instructors know most of the students are taking the course merely to fulfill a blank slot on their transcript, a more elementary and less expensive text could be considered. So, I would call that poor thinking on the school or professor's part. *I* took the Child Development course which I did, not only to fulfill some credits I still needed, but because I'm very interested in the subject as well as a degree in child developmental psychology or other psychology related degree. I didn't find the text to be in the least bit dry. I thought it was extremely well thought out and put together. This was one of the very few textbooks I actually read cover to cover during my 5 years of college. I even read a few chapters at the end that our class didn't have time to cover, purely for interest's sake. I go back to this book again and again. I have let friends with young children borrow the book after having highlighted sections for them to read which I thought would be helpful in their everyday understanding of their own children. This book will stay on my shelf until it is completely outdated, and will be reviewed and looked at again often. It is invaluable to me.

Vector Mechanics for Engineers: Dynamics: Overhead Transparencies
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Education - Europe (01 August, 1989)
Author: Beer
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Too difficult
Without doubt, this is the worst textbook I ever had the misfortune to read.

I used it for a rushed 1st year dynamics course, and found the book utterly useless. The concepts are scattered and are introduced using complicated mathematics, some of which is beyond 1st year level. Even simply trying to read through the verbal explanations is near impossible for beginner students, simply because of the depth of knowledge required to do so.

The problems, while plentiful, are simply too difficult. Original thinking is one thing, these problems require something else entirely. I realise, of course, that textbooks must be challenging in order to maintain academic standards, but this book goes too far, to the point where students end up discouraged from the subject simply because the concepts are so difficult.

While I maintain the greatest respect for Mr Beer, as I am sure that he is a brilliant engineer (his book is testament to that), the text is simply too in-depth. For future editions, I recommend that he go through the book and greatly simplify both the language and the problems.

Until this book is simplified, I recommend the Hibbler Dyanmucs text to any other students out there.

World funest class
If you ever have pleasure in taking this class, procede to the nearest gun shop and pick a fight with billy. He will know what to do. You engin-i-nerd.

Very solid and important text
Very few books provide solid material like this one (Meriam's is an excellent one too). In fact I have become interested in mechanics after I was Introduced to this text for the 1st time in 1984. Recently, I started to collect and work all the editions of this book. This text requires a skilful instructor that can present the material in a way worthy of this text. please do not hate this text if you really want unsurpass knowledge in mechanics, because there are many "engineering mechanics" texts around you that teach nothing.

Management Information Systems: Overhead Transparencies
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Education - Europe (01 January, 1994)
Author: Kroenke
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Some great fundamental concepts but lacks of actual insights
Kroenke wrote a book dating back to 1994. As a lecturer I was advised to use this book, among others I'd choosen myself. After an extensive reading of this book I had to admit that some chapters are very good, because they give students a fundamental insight in management information systems, but for the title being "Management Information Systems" the chapters about personal information systems (5-7) aren't worth reading them. Also the book lacks actuality, e.g. a 486-PC with 8 MB is mentioned to be necessary for running windows. An update or revision, with more emphasis on Management Information Systems would be valuable.
