Great read for active investorsTake power back from executives, admonishes this shareholder advocate. Should be a great read for investors who want to be active without trading all the time.
The 1st book for intelligent investors! Most investment books are written for speculators. They focus on a strategy for picking stocks though market timing, technical analysis, finding value stocks that are under priced, or growth stocks with good prospects. The problem is that over time, none of these methodologies achieve returns superior to the market average. As more and more investors realize this, they have chosen to invest in index funds. Yet, the more we do so, the less efficient our markets become since capital is no longer allocated to companies that produce the greatest wealth for each dollar invested.
Jacobs identifies our most common fallacy; treating stocks like commodities. Each share of stock represents ownership and a vote in what is to be done with corporate assets. Index investors spread their stock holdings so thinly, they minimize any influence they can have on each company. Break the Wall Street Rule is about how to be an effective owner, how to focus your attention on factors over which you can have some control, rather than the market. It is the first book written specifically for intelligent individual investors. (for more, see http://www.corpgov.net/abreviews1.html#Jacobs)

Kick Start Your Job Search, Now! How to Outperform Your Competition and Win the Job You Want
Published in Paperback by Stress Free Zone (October, 2003)
Amazon base price: $13.00

My clients found it motivating and practicalI used Kick Start Your Job Search as a resource book in one of my job search seminars and got lots of positive feedback from my clients. The common theme was "This person really understands what I'm going through." They liked that it was a realistic picture of what a job search is really like. And they found that the suggestions in the book really worked for them. The sections on talking back to critics and putting yourself first were real ego boosters and the sections on time management and peak performance got a lot of them out of the "unemployment funk" they'd fallen into. Only suggestion for change was to have more room in the book for writing in answers for the self-exploration and planning exercises -- they loved having so many exercises they could work on.
Highly recommend this bookDr. Andrade has done it again. I lost my job in management and my self esteem and self confidence was at an all time low. After a year of not being able to find a job, I picked up this book as a last resort. It is a decision that I will never regret. After reading (and practically memorizing this book) I was able to go out on job interviews filled with confidence and amazing tips that Dr. Andrade mentioned. I am now working in an upper management position again. Thank you so much Dr. Andrade.

BRAIN AND CORE TECHNOLOGYAmong the increasing publications of books in Management, "Technoleverage" emerges as a help-full handbook for the year 2000. It provides guidelines for top managers willing to create change, understand where their company is, where to go, and how. In an original approach the author unveils methods and describes the processes in a realistic way. How to identify opportunities, produce brand-new ideas, differenciate and implement in a cost effective manner. How to deliver value to customers and stay ahead from competitors, how to measure your company's success.... With a clear vision, the autor shows the way to run business.
Genuinely the Best Business Book I've ReadTechnoLeverage was genuinely the best business book I've read, simply because it's practical and "real world". It provided me with new ways to look at new business development and has provided me with new personal and business challenges. I am going to buy twelve copies for my collegues.
Great for Mapping Out Corporate Strategy Using TechnologyI found TechnoLeverage very insightful in its approach to corporate strategy for technology management. It was clear from the beginning of the book that a company did not have to be a high-tech or even a technology-based company to be able to put technoleverage to work to raise profits. In planning for the "big picture", I found that the book had many useful checklists and action items. It also had a very helpful chapter on financial measures and what can be learned from them. I would recommend this book to other managers in Marketing, Strategic Planning, Finance or Research and Development.

OK but really really basic stuffCovers the basics -- but if you have ever read any other book on project management, or managed a project yourself, or worked for a company that has a formal project management process, or gone to a 1-day seminar on project management -- this is not for you. There's nothing wrong with this book, it's very thorough, balanced and well-thought out, but it is definitely aimed at beginners.
Perfect intro level bookIf you need an easy-to-read, beginners level book for Project Management, this is definetely the book. Very clear writing and good examples. It is a fundation builder for a newbie project manager.
A good point to beginIf you are looking for a book that introduce you into project management without boring then it's a good point to begin. It'll give you the basis with an easy and nice prose including for non english.
After read it you'll have better criterion selecting another books to increase you knowledge on project management.
