Unbelievable
The reviews of this book are amazing.

I can see that every single review is positive and the advice in this program has worked wonders for me.

The book has 100 strategies that range from getting more benefit from aerobic activity by using a heart rate monitor to separating fact from fiction in nutritional supplements.

His real message is that exercise is to be enjoyed fully, to celebrate your body, to make it a lifelong passion. It's not new, but it's the best weight loss advice ever! And he shows you how to do it; he doesn't just tell you like a lot of books.

The book provides a good mix of nutrition, exercise, mental and emotional fitness tips. There is strength-training, weight loss, having more fun with exercise, finding the time. There's even a tip that shows you how to create your own entire exercise program right there in six steps!

Lets face it, if you follow just the exercise tips in this book, you will lose fat and more, you will have a HELL of a lot of fun. The advice is simple, it's easy to incorporate into your life and it will enrich you beyond the physical part.

If you don't believe me, just go to any bookstore and turn to any page in the book. You'll see what I mean. Kudos to the author and to his publisher for producing such a fantastic book.

OUTSTANDING!
I've waited for a fitness book like this for a long time. All of my friends own this book as well -- it is OUTSTANDING.

This book is easy to read and offers health, weight loss and nutrition advice I haven't heard before. Most books seem to say the same things in different packaging. This book is new, fresh and fun! I am so thrilled with this book. It offers plenty of sound fitness advice, motivational tips and good humor. It is enthusiastic, light-hearted and inspiring. Eric Harr succeeds in speaking the simple truths on fitness in terms everyone can understand and use benefit from immediately.

With so many charlatans out there today peddling quick-fix fitness results, Eric Harr is a hero in the fitness world, as far as I'm concerned. I heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in better fitness and a higher quality of life. Buy this book now. You will not be disappointed. It's extraordinary.

A Mover and a Shaker...Read it and You'll Be One Too
Finally, fitness advice that will get you off your couch and onto the track / bike / into the pool / or whatever else you do. I just bought the book about a week ago, returned home, and read it cover to cover in an hour. One hundred simple and truly life-altering strategies are contained within that have gotten even my lazy self up and moving. Over the past two days, following the book's advice on everything from nutrition, to technique and motivation, I've run ten miles (and feel great!), and I don't plan on stopping any time soon :). From his writing, the author is a truly fit individual, both mentally and physically, and his personal perspectives on the wonders of a clear mind and a healthy body are refreshing every time I open the conveniently-pocket-sized book. Humorous, compelling and without pretense, Harr's guide can pull out the passion and performance in anyone (and I mean anyone) and set them on the path to a healthier and happier self.

Must read for patients with mild/moderate TBI
Claudia Osborn's autobiographical tale provides insight into the mind of a head-injured patient. A successful physician prior to her injury, she describes the frustrations, indignantsies, and adventures imposed by her traumatic brain injury. This book does not focus on tragedy but on the strength of human will and positive thinking to overcome adversity and rebuild a new life.

Being a medical professional with a mild traumatic brain injury myself, I strongly identified with the author's story (I laughed and cried through the entire book). I found advice, encouragement and hope in this easy-to-read book. I highly recommend it for those who have experienced a mild/moderate traumatic brain injury and their families, particularly for those with professional backgrounds.

Traumatic Brain Injury, Understand the Challenges & Changes
Dr. Claudia Osborn does an incredible job of relating the life altering experience of a Traumatic Brain Injury, (TBI). This is a very informative, easy to read & understand book covering the misunderstood and confusing changes and challenges an individual and their loved ones experience after a brain injury.
She does so from her perspective as a professional that experiences and learns to manage permanent losses and changes which a person with TBI must learn to understand, accept, and manage.

This book is a must read for brain injured persons, their family members, friends, and care providers, as well as all professionals, (Physicians, Psychologists, Counselors, Lawyers, Emergency Medical professionals, families & patients, etc.). Anyone that even potentially has any contact with a person with a brain injury will benefit from this hard to put down, easy to read & understand book. It is humorous in places but educational, enlightening & informative throughout.
A TBI is too often unrecognized and misunderstood. As a medical clinician with extensive Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine experience, and myself being brain injured several years ago, I know that many brain injured persons go without adequate diagnosis or treatment. The physical and psychosocial changes that a brain injured person and their families & friends face are frequently undiagnosed, misunderstood, and improperly treated. The statistics on brain injuries are alarming. I strongly encourage laypersons and professionals alike to read this book.
Thank you Dr. Osborn.

Do not miss this read!
This book forgoes the technical discussion and tells it as it is. Dr Osborn addresses not just her personal Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) but how those close to her reacted. Although it is not a technical book, it provides a very good, down to earth, overview of consequences and responses to TBI. There is drama to spare and bitter sweet triumph. Dr Osborn has taken life's lemons and made lemon aide.

It appeals to everyone and it's great bedtime reading!
This isn't a "tortured tale" of anything. That's how people describe gay, bi, and transgendered people's stories when they get the message about how hard society tries to kill us, but still don't see the intense beauty of our culture and our lives.

Feinberg's autobgraphical novel does a brilliant job of showing how gender and class and sexuality and race intersect, without telling us out loud. This gives hir characters depth that most bestsellers lack. Feinberg's writing brings you right into the scene, and hir simple, honest descriptions give the story a feeling of raw truth.

It's interesting, to me, that so many lesbians (especially butch women) have embraced this book as a cult classic that really relates to their lives. At first, I thought, "they're missing the point; it's a transgendered story about how screwed-up gender is here." Then I realized that maybe it still relates to the lesbian community in terms of our gender issues; lots of female-to-male people start out identifying as lesbians.

I read this book three times: twice by myself, and once to my girlfriend as a bedtime story. It's cozy and scary in turns, but it's full of love.

A must read for learning about the Human Spirit!
Author Leslie Feinberg has done a remarkable thing in the writing of Stone Butch Blues. The author has opened her soul to anyone who reads and exposed us each to our own fears of being different no matter how slight it may be. Being a gay male, reading this book was recommeded to me by a lesbian friend. At first I was reading it out of respect for my friend, but I found myself unable to put the book down. The story is endearing to anyone who desires to know more about the human spirit and the need and will to survive. I laughed, cried and saw myself in so many of the fears, questions, lonley times and good times experienced by Jess, the Stone Butch. Thank you Leslie Feinberg for the way you gave us a piece of your soul in the book and allowed us to become a little more accepting of our differences and of who we are.

Essential Mind Delving
This book is a wonderful and disturbing look at what everyone takes for granted. The roots of lesbianism and gay pride started with a few brave souls who had the courage to be themselves. This is one such story. The author makes you weep, laugh and shout for joy with this story. Utterly brilliant and a must-read for anyone experiencing the trials of out gay life.

Absolutely one of the best self help books ever written!!!
If you want a simple, practical guide to help you achieve your ultimate goals, then you must pick up and read Joe Vitale's Spiritual Marketing. I have literally read hundreds and hundreds of personal development books and I rank Joe's up there with the best. He has hit the nail on the head. You may not need to read another book after you read Spiritual Marketing. As you absorb this wonderful gem, and apply the proven strategies, you will see miracles occur in your life that will truly amaze you! I recommend this book to all of my clients and audiences.

A fun read with the potential to change lives!
Joe Vitale does it again. I've read most, if not all, of Joes books and they tend to cut straight to the core of an issue in a fun to read and informative way. Spiritual Marketing is no different. The book is not what you think... or maybe it is. It's about truly believing in your goals, not just "thinking positive" about them, but believing in them and this belief begins to manifest what it is that you want. Be careful though - these beliefs can just as easily be negative as they can positive and Joe tactfully deals with how to let go of negative emotions and install positive ones. There is great information and great techniques in this book. You'll finish it in one sitting and being creating your own powerful future immediately. I did.

Buy It Now!
This simple book is amazing in its power. I have read many books on self-improvement, but this is the first time that I've felt moved to write a review. If you're looking for a breakthrough in your life or your business, please buy this now!
Thank you, Joe!

Drug Crazy : How We Got into This Mess and How We Can Get Out

Drug Crazy is a scathing indictment of America's decades-long "war on drugs," an expensive and hypocritical folly which has essentially benefited only two classes of people: professional anti-drug advocates and drug lords.

Did you know that a presidential commission determined that marijuana is neither an addicitve substance nor a "stepping stone" to harder drugs ... only to have President Nixon shelve the embarrassing final report and continue the government's policy of inflated drug addiction statistics? Did you know that several medical experts agree that "cold turkey" methods of withdrawal are essentially ineffective and recommend simply prescribing drugs to addicts ... and that communities in which this has been done report lower crime rates and reduced unemployment among addicts as a result?

Whether he's writing about the American government's strong-arm tactics toward critics of its drug policy or the reduction of countries like Colombia and Mexico to anarchic killing zones by powerful cartels, Mike Gray's analysis has an immediacy and a clarity worth noting. The passage of "medical marijuana" bills in California and Arizona (where the bill passed by a nearly 2-to-1 majority) indicates that people are getting fed up with the government's Prohibition-style tactics toward drugs. Drug Crazy just might speed that process along.

Learning from the lessons of history
Those who forget the mistakes of history are condemned to repeat them, and unfortunately the disaster of alcohol Prohibition in the 1920s occurred too long ago for most of us to remember it. Fortunately, Drug Crazy builds a bridge to that time, from whose lessons we can draw guidance today. That the Prohibition experiment (which was at least started and ended democratically, with Constitutional amendments) caused so much damage--especially crime, including the highest murder rate in US history--is a tragedy, but that we have not learned from that tragic experiment and are repeating the mistake on an even greater scale...that is indeed a crime. Drug Crazy goes on to trace the tragicomic escalation of the Drug War from its racist origins to its current heights of madness. This well-researched book is highly recommended for understanding how self-righteous and self-serving bureaucrats got us into the Drug War, and how we can get ourselves out.

Not crazy, we just have short memories

An easy read, certain to raise your blood pressure...
This book should be a real eye-opener to the average citizen.

It is an easy read of only 240 pages, so even the most time-pressed will be able to get through it in a week or two of spare moments.

Mike Gray takes us through the past 90 years of the American drug war and also parallels it with the alcohol prohibition of the 1920's.

Some has expressed disdain over the author's lack of detail on a solution to the status quo. The purpose of this book appears to focus mainly on what is wrong with the current situation -- an example of what not to do. He does call for reform of drug laws and policies, and it's up to the reader to realize that the solution is not too far off from the solution of the alcohol problem during the prohibition era -- to repeal prohibition.

Buy it. Read it. Get all your friends to read it.

While you're still fired up over it... write a letter to your local congressperson expressing your feelings... well, maybe you should write the letter after you cool down a little -- but not too much.

Not so much a language book as a guide into another culture
You may as well be trying to learn Latin with most Spanish books. Not only are they dry and boring, they are absolutely lifeless! Keenan presents Spanish as a living language, full of real life examples and situations (and I don't mean asking the maid in your hotel room for more towels!) I have read this book until the pages have fallen out. Take it from someone who followed Keenan's advice, went to Mexico, and started talking to the locals - you will never find a more helpful resource for your sojourn. The section on invectives and obcenities is worth the price of admission. You may never have an inclination to use any of these words, but I guarantee you it is very, very useful knowing when they are being used toward you. Finally, never have I encountered a Spanish language book which enlightens one as to why everything in Spanish is reversed, e.g. blanca y negra for black and white. Keenan's wonderful book helps you get inside the Spanish speaker's mind and world to the extent that you might just realize it is the English speaker that has everything backwards.

Breaking Out of Beginner's Spanish
My personal thanks to Joseph Keenan for this book, which has been most helpful and invaluable to me. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide to the nuances of grammer, this is not it! :o) This is an entertaining cultural guide to the language! It is funny, which helps me to remember the material presented. I am part Latina, have studied Spanish for years, and have traveled to 7 Spanish speaking countries, and no one thing has done more to improve my Spanish than this book! Now when I speak native speakers comment with surprise at how natural my Spanish sounds. Another plus for this book is that the author goes to great pains to teach you how not to slip up, sound stupid, or unintentionally offend. Joseph Keenan remembers what it was like to be the gringo struggling with the language, and plays the part of the fluent friend you wish you had with you on that last trip to Latin America! Thanks Joseph!!!

More Spanish Books Like This One, Please!
Where was this book when I was in college? Most textbooks are boring sleep inducers. Most books confuse rather than enlighten when it comes to explaining grammar and vocabulary. Not this one. Keenan's explanation of the subjunctive mode is soooo easy and simple. It's the best I've ever seen and I have been teaching a long time. His answer for the future tense is great also. Just recognize it and forget about using it. His examples for the specific use of vocabulary and idioms are full of humor and cultural insight. It's a book that you wish had a sequel.

Out to Canaan
Published in Digital by Penguin ()
Author: Jan Karon
Amazon base price: $12.95
Mix one part All Creatures Great and Small with two parts Lake Wobegon, sprinkle a little Anne of Green Gables and get: Mitford, the pinnacle of provincial life, where homespun wisdom, guarded tradition, and principled faith are the precepts of good living. Jan Karon, purveyor of so-called "gentle fiction," continues the series that began with At Home in Mitford, in Out to Canaan. The patriarch of the tightly bound community of Mitford, North Carolina, is Father Timothy Kavanaugh, a.k.a. legal counsel, psychologist, foster parent, headhunter, husband, political analyst, and rector of his congregation. He is always there to lend a helping hand, a kind word or bit of advice, which believe it or not, makes for an incredibly busy schedule in this quiet, country town.

Longtime mayor Esther Cunningham, revered for preserving the traditions of the town, finds a formidable foe in Mack Stroupe, a free-spending industrialist who stands for the two most reviled words in Mitford: change and development. If that isn't enough, a suspicious company called "Miami Development" wants to buy Sadie Baxter's home--a Mitford landmark--and turn it into a hoity-toity spa. Father Tim has his hands full again with Dooley, his foster child who is back from prep school for the summer. The good rector continues to doctor Dooley's troubled past by locating his siblings, Poohbaw and Jessie, and finding their alcoholic mother, Pauline, work. The plethora of intricately woven, cozy vignettes makes Out to Canaan a potpie of warm, country reading. --Rebekah Warren

I cannot wait to read more of Mitford
As a foreign student, I lived 2 1/2 years in North Carolina. Jan Karon's book series describes so well the atmosphere in a Southern town. I can relate to people like Uncle Billy or Father Tim and Cynthia, because I met people like them myself during my time in the United States. Also, in my opinion, the Mitford series can be a spiritual guide. It makes one think and evaluate own experiences in life differently. I hope, there will be another Mitford book soon. I cannot wait.

Thank you Jan Karon for your enjoyable Mitford series!!
After a long, cold winter of reading alot of Oprah's suggested books, I found such a nice change of pace in Mitford.. I'm suggesting my husband and my daughter read them . Anyone who is tired of the foul language and depressing violence found in most bestsellers, should read all four of Jan Karon's books. I am anxiously awaiting for her fifth book .

I would give it six stars.
This is by far the most enjoyable book I've read in the Mitford series and the others were all five star in my opinion. Jan Karon has such a terrific sense of humor and this book shows it at its very best. I especially enjoyed getting to know Harley, Lace's friend from the Creek area. I almost fell off my chair laughing at some of his language, being from the South I have heard people speak just as he does but it was still hilarious to read it. There were so many other enjoyable storylines : the mayoral race between Esther Cunningham and Mack Stroupe, Andrew Gregory and his wonderful surprise, Buck Leeper's return to town and of course the ever-deepening relationship between Dooley and Fr.Tim. Overall a highly satisfying visit to the village of Mitford.

Tyra's Beauty Inside & Out

Amazon base price: $16.95
Used price: $7.80
Average review score:

Become drop-dead gorgeous, beyond your wildest dreams!
Tyra Banks, with Vanessa Thomas Bush, has written the perfect beauty guide for every woman. Full of beautiful pictures, information and helpful tips, Tyra has included just about everything a woman should know about being her best - "Inside & Out". From cosmetics, fashion, diet and exercise to smoking, condoms and rape to love, sex and self-esteem. I'm overwhelmed with how complete this book is. She even included a [frightful] picture of just how cosmetically imperfect even she can be. But with the right techniques, as illustrated in this book, anyone can become as beautiful as the supermodels.

As a beauty photographer, I have learned many new ideas from this book that I will share with the models with whom I work. I bought several copies as gifts, and to keep at the studio.

The book is easy to read, has lots of pictures along the way, and it contains some of the best beauty tips I've seen. It's an invaluable reference, and I give it my highest possible recommendation.

By reading this review, you've indicated that you're looking to be your best. This book will help you to bring out the beautiful, magnificent woman you want to be.

Good Luck

Love Tyra? -then check out her awesome book! ****
This is a perfect book for any teenager girl and deserves a four out of four star **** review. A makeup tip book and a lot more, supermodel Tyra Bank's book gives insight to what it's like to be a supermodel, as well as illustrates her unique, down-to-earth, fun-loving personailty. Chock full of pictures and tidbits of information, this book is garunteed to keep a teenage girl entertained. (Hey, I am one! Plus all my friends are borrowing it now) There is even a picture of Tyra WITHOUT any makeup or airbrushing, and then a picture WITHairbrushing and makeup. (A pretty daring move for a supermodel) The difference is amazing and shows that yes, Tyra is beautiful, and yes, even supermodels have imperfections.

A Keepsake!
I fell in love with this book since its release and highly recommend it. Sure, it contains tons of photos of Tyra, but this is the very nature of her work, people... HELLOOOOO. And it's obvious this book was going to focus on her by its title, it isn't called 'YOUR Beauty, Inside Out', now is it? Anyways, looking at her never gets boring because the pics are all varying in style and purpose. If you're a fan of Tyra or appreciate sexy-yet-wholesome beauty & personality then you'll cherish this book. It's one-parts autobiography, one-parts pictorial, and 1-parts self-improvement advice, the works mixed together! I get a strong feeling that this was the intention of Banks & Blake and I think it makes for a unique and fun reading experience.

Comfy escapist reading
I almost never read books of this genre - they're usually way too sappy for me. I'm more of a historical novel kind of person - I like a lot of real characters and angst and war and to learn a little something while I'm reading. But for some reason, this series really started to grab me, especially after the second book. True, the characters don't seem to have any real problems and they all care for each other equally and live in an impossibly idyllic little village. But then again, maybe that's WHY I like this series so much. It's a vacation from my typical reading list - if I want to take a breather and read something that makes me happy and calm and transported to a fantasy-land that almost crosses over to reality, I take a trip to Mitford.

As a Catholic, the whole "we're all happy Protestants in this town" can get to be a little wearing after a while, but it's also a nice reminder that there are still people of faith and moral uprightness out there. That might be another reason this series appeals to me - I live a basically religion-free existence, thanks to popular American culture, and that's okay for the most part. But at the end of the day, I often find myself longing to reassociate with religion in a non-invasive way, and these books do that for me with their gentle spirituality.

If people are expecting to read books with depth and underlying tensions and hidden hatreds, you're not going to find that here. I consider these books "vacation" from everyday life, and the heavier fare that I typically read. They are sweet and simple and take you to a place that you just might be able to create for yourself someday.

Wonderful Books
I have read the first 4 books of the Mitford series. I am in the middle of the 5th. They are very fun and easy to read. You get caught up in the every day lives of the Mitford residents. I really enjoyed reading how Father Tim's life changed from the minute Barabus "adopted" him. I have laughed out loud and cried while reading. I feel as if I know all the chacters in the books personally. I think all us would like to live a small town such as this one, where people watch out for each other and really care for one another. I would recommend these books to anyone.

I APPLAUD THIS WONDERFUL SERIES!!
Three cheers for the Mitford series! There are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to praise Jan Karon's writing enough!
If you're the type of reader who enjoys reading about good old time church stories about preachers and his congregation and life, then you'll be sure to fall in love with this series of books.
Basically Father Tim is the main character, and it begins with him as a good old preacher who has been a bachelor all of his life. The first book introduces you to his life as it was then, about his congregation, the cranky old Emma Newland, his church secretary, and his new dog whom he takes in as stray, Barnaba. There are many events and happenings through the story as you'll find reading along.

Once you start this series, you'll read nothing but for awhile, it is hard to put down. I would HIGHLY recommend it even for teenagers and older.

Doubts but all changes
I am 13.
My friend told me about this book and it sound funny from the way she said things about it and it sorta sounded dumb. Well I found the book so I bought it and in about 4 days I finished it. It was one of the best books I have read in awhile and I am reading the second one now. You see the emotion's from each boys veiw and how hard it is going through life each day. Kyle, who is a swimmer, has a huge crush on Jason.
Jason is your school jock with a girlfriend he thinks he loves and begings to questiong if he really loves her.
Nelson is a guy still trying to find out who he is and looking for love, and always supporting his best friend Kyle!
Slowly their lives blend toghter and they become closer and closer.
It is so hard to put this book down and its even harder not to want to know more! You ask question and slowly but surely they get answered and you beging to feel for each character. I highly recomend this book to anyone! Boy or Girl, Straight or Gay, Hey I am a Girl and I enjoyed it!

"Boys" - Oh boy!
I went the mall last week, looking for a certain book. I found it, but also came across "Rainbow Boys" while searching for it. It sounded interesting, so I bought it. I was ANYTHING but disappointed!

"Rainbow Boys" is the story of 3 high school seniors: Kyle, Jason, and Nelson. Of of them is facing issues with their sexuality. Kyle is struggling with whether or not to come out to his parents, and over his feelings for school jock Jason. Jason is starting to realize that he just might be bisexual, and struggles with trying to reconcile his feelings toward Kyle and his feelings towards his girlfriend, Debra. Nelson ("Nelly") is out and proud, but is also struggling with the fact that he may have feelings for his best friend Kyle.

Reading the book, you can see that everything these 3 boys encounter is something that could have happend to you. All their struggles are true-to-life, and the book is very engaging. I could not put it down once I started reading it, an urge I rarely get.

I would recommend this book to anyone. Whether you are gay or straight, you will find something in this book that you can relate to.

Simply Excellent
This book is completely excellent. Being in high school, and gay, I wanted to read a book that I could relate to and know follow what was going on. Even though this book doesn't have all the steamy sex scenes that every gay guy seems to go for, I couldn't put it down. Rainbow Boys describes the struggles and trials of a jock, an "out" guy, and an outsider. Simply excellent and not to miss.
