AN AMAZING, UPLIFTING BOOK!
Thank you Anne Teachworth for writing the only relationship book that makes any sense. I've read almost every book on the market and WHY WE PICK THE MATES WE DO is the only one with actual tools that work and ideas that can be applied to any situation.

Couples Counseling Dream Book
As a social worker who specializes in couples counseling, Anne Teachworth's book has helped me make new insights and associations in my practice. Her connection from current adult relationships with spouses/partners to childhood relationships with that individual's parents is a stroke of genius. I literally am better able to predict and possibly prevent problems in couples' relationships because of Anne's book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone in the field of couples' counseling as well as those individuals interested in self-help. It should be a must read for any graduate program specializing in relationship counseling, especially pre-marital since the Selection Test in the book is accurately able to predict BEFORE a couple gets married, how their relationship will be after. Bravo Anne and thank you!

Anne reads excerpts from her book
Take the amazing Selection Test and find out the real subconcious reasons for your attraction, rejection, selection and interactional patterns.....why you pick the mates you do...
and don't....why you are attracted to the wrong type of partners, why you keep having the same problems in relationships, why opposites attract and what happens when they do, how to change that troublesome chemistry so you can live happitly ever after..........

The end is just another beginning.......
Dr. Leporowski has written a slim but so useful book here that is bound to be of help to anyone dealing with the loss of a relationship. Her advice and suggestions are practical, thought provoking, and geared toward moving someone into the self-examination so necessary in order to move on into a new life following divorce. She takes special care to guide the reader through and past the traps of self-pity, blame, resentment and self-denigration without becoming critical or judgmental of those experiencing these all-too-common feelings when a marriage ends. I found her writing style to be refreshingly candid and almost conversational. Reading the book feels like sitting down with an old friend who is going to give you the "straight scoop" and not a lot of jargon or intellectual theorizing. She quite literally cuts to the "heart" of the matter! I've already started recommending this book to my psychotherapy patients facing divorce or its aftermath, encouraging them toward a more proactive self-examination and self-definition of who they are going to be NOW!

Bitter or Better: Your Choices After Divorce
This book is a very positive, informative way to approach living your life after divorce. This is recommended reading for getting through difficulties of the aftermath of divorce.

A Counselor's Review
I have been a marriage and famil counselor for 22 years. After reading Dr. Leporowski's book, "Bitter or Better", I was so grateful that there was another counselor who understood the impact that bitterness has on people's lives.
She is right on in so many ways.
Throughout her book, she continues to position the reader to stop looking back at the offences that have occured, stop blaming the people of the past and start taking ownership of of their own lives and choices.
It is a must read for anyone who has traveled the rocky road of divorce.
Reading this book will open a whole new opportunity of living a life filled with contentment and peace.

Vision improves more than 25%
When I started this program, my perscription was -4.75 in each eye with enough astigmatism that I had to wear glasses to correct it. Now, three months later, I wear contacts at -3.50 and no correction for astigmatism and am seeing 20/20. I have hope that someday I might not need lenses at all.

Really good book.
This book explains everthing about you eyesight and the way you can improve it. I recommend it.

Hooray for this book!
I don't wear glasses and want to keep it that way! I'm 36 and noticing problems when I'm reading. Mr. Sussman's book is inspiring and easy to understand. His program is simple to follow, but very effective. It really helped me "see" the psychological reasons behind my vision limitations (as well as ways to help myself) and also tought me about good eyesight habits that will keep me from needing glasses in the future. Thank you, Mr. Sussman, for such a practical and holistic program!

The Food Report Card: 12,000 Favorite Foods Including Brand-Name Products, Graded A,B,C, or d Fornutritional Value
Published in Paperback by Hungry Minds, Inc (July, 1998)
Author: Thomas Yannios
Amazon base price: $15.95
Used price: $1.99
Buy one from zShops for: $3.28
Thomas Yannios is a doctor who's spent too many hours hovering at the bedsides of critically ill patients who suffer from a lifetime of poor eating habits. Yannios says most of the foods available on your supermarket shelves are bad for you, with more fat than is safe, or too much sodium, and only 15% have even minimally adequate sources of fiber. Yet, says Yannios, it's not so difficult to eat well if you know which items to buy and which to avoid like the plague. Ergo his Food Report Card book, crammed with easily understandable ratings for 12,000 common foods, including brand-name products.

Each food item is identified by food type (tomato sauce, for example), processing category (canned, bottled or refrigerated), brand (Progresso, for instance), any relevant descriptions, calories per serving size (27 per half cup, in the case of Progresso Tomato Sauce), and a nutrition grade of A, B, C, or D for a quick health judgment (the Progresso sauce receives an A-). Maybe you won't lug the book with you to the supermarket, but it doesn't take long to check out and compare the brands you usually consider. Do you buy frozen pizzas? Celentano's Cheese pizza rates a B-, compared to the Celentano Thick Crust Cheese, which scores a C-; the Weight Watchers 3 Cheese, not surprisingly, earns the highest mark (B+) and almost all the Tombstone pizzas scrape the bottom of the health barrel, with D-. Sometimes, even within one brand, the ratings can vary dramatically. For salad dressings, for example, Hidden Valley Ranch Honey Dijon weighs in with an A-, while the same brand's Original Ranch ranks a D-.

Sure, you could probably figure this all out for yourself if you spent a few hours carefully comparing the nutritional chart small print, but do you? If you haven't got tons of time to invest in healthy cooking but are still interested in increasing the nutritional content while decreasing the junk quotient of what you ingest, Yannios's food-rating charts provide a fast and easy way to up the quality of your food, and ultimately, your health. --Stephanie Gold

The Food Report Card
Deciphering labels can turn food shopping into a real hassle for many of us. Thomas Yannios, M.D. makes it easier to decide which products to purchase in The Food Report Card. Dr. Yannios has analyzed the labels of thousands of foods, and compiled his results in a simple grade of A, B, C, or D.

"You can make an enormous impact on your long-term health, and even on your appearance," Dr. Yannios writes, "if you do nothing else during your normal food shopping but select the A- and B-rated foods, and leave the C's and D's on the shelves back at the store."

Dr. Yannios believes that atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) is the number one health problem for many Americans. He says that "food significantly impacts" atherosclerosis, and that we can reduce the negative impact by carefully choosing what we eat. "People are confused," Dr. Yannios says, explaining that he wrote The Food Report Card to help eliminate confusion and enable people to choose foods that are good for them.

He has grouped foods into categories, such as beverages, cereals and grains, milk and dairy products, and meats. Each food within a category is then listed in alphabetical order, such as chocolate milk and vegetable juice in the beverage section. Foods are then evaluated by brand name. For example, five brands of vegetable juice are analyzed and graded. He maintains that pattern for each food category, analyzing 12,000 foods altogether. All you have to do is look up a specific food to quickly determine whether it is an "A" food that you want to consume or a "D" food you want to avoid.

People who want to choose the healthiest processed foods, but don't want to spend a lot of time calculating nutritional values from confusing labels, will find The Food Report Card informative and helpful.

Finally, an easy food guide!
This book makes eating well easy. If everyone followed the book obesity would be gone for good.

Excellent !
This is an excellent book! Its food rating system gives you a nice easy way to see how healthy the food you're eating is for you! After I read through the book and looked at the ratings for some of the things I usually eat, I was surprised! I'm going to make some significant changes to my diet! Bon appetit!

Does your child crave cookies, ice cream, candy, and sodas? He or she may be suffering from carbohydrate addiction: "a compelling hunger, craving or desire for carbohydrate-rich foods; an escalating, recurring need or drive for starches, snack foods, junk food, sweets." In Carbohydrate Addicted Kids, Richard and Rachael Heller, authors of The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet, have developed a program specifically for children and teens to free them from their dependence on carbohydrates and improve their attitude, weight, learning, and self-esteem. Rachael Keller's own moving story--enduring ridicule and loneliness because of her weight, and topping 300 pounds by age 17--draws the reader in. Not until age 36 did she discover that her dieting (including sugar-filled meal-replacement drinks and juice fasts) only made her crave sweets more, and that limiting her carbohydrate intake made the cravings disappear. She dropped 165 pounds by eating high-protein breakfasts and lunches, salads and vegetables, and balanced dinners.

The Kellers explain how to figure out if your child is addicted to carbohydrates, and, if so, what type (locust, rabbit, bear, sponge, or fruit bat). Since one size doesn't fit all, they present two different programs--"Step-by-Step" and "Jump-Start"--each with many variations. Recipes are included. --Joan Price

I love this book!
I love this diet plan so much! As a carb addicted teen it's helped me to lose weight and feel better. I've lost 10 pounds already on this diet. The plan is so easy to follow and I don't get junk food cravings any more. I would reccomend this book to anyone who has struggled with weight and food cravings.

This Book Can Save Your Child's Life
I ordered and read the adult version of this book. Within one week I ordered and read this book knowing that in I would find the answers to my daughter's diet problems. She has been following the program for only 5 days and has already experienced a dramatic drop in cravings. Her behavior and attention has never been better. She has also lost a pound already. I turned to this program as a solution for my weight but have found so much more. Never before had I been relieved of my obsession for sweets and breads. This program did just that for both of us! If you think you may need it you probably do. Just read the book. It explains it all. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss this further.

Carbohydrate Addicted Kids
The book is excellent. I have read all of the Heller's books and I think this one is one of their best. It makes so much sense and really offers a lot of suggestions on how to help our children change their eating habits, as well as helping our kids achieve weight loss. It also addresses several behavioral issues as possibly being food related and offers suggestions for correcting these behaviors through food. I have been introducing new foods to even my 3 year old daughter like they recommend, and she has responded positively. It really does work. I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE with kids, and a great read for adults too.

Or, variety is the spice of life
Burros offers good, low-fat meals designed to be on the table in 20 to 30 minutes. Organized traditionally by main-dish ingredient (vegetarian, chicken, etc.) each two-page spread includes a full meal, main and side dish, with "game plan" directions and nutritional information. Burros stresses a "strategic approach" to cooking to maximize kitchen efficiency and her directions are simple and easy to follow.

The dishes are simple and delicious and varied - curried potatoes, tomatoes and peas; yellow fruited rice with fish, Chinese chicken and rotini, turkey apple patties.

Perfect for the harried cook, sick of eating the same things all the time.

Eating Well Is the Best Revenge: Everyday Strategies for Del
Of all of my "healthy cooking" cookbooks, this is the one I'd save from fire! The food is truly delicious, and they are easy to prepare. I generally find I increase the sauce quantities, but there is not an appreciable increase in calories. My husband and I have each lost over 20 pounds this year, slowly and easily, with great enjoyment. I got online to order this book as a present for a friend who survived a heart attack, and am sorry to find it not available! Does anyone have a copy to spare? Probably not now, with this glowing review!

I love this cookbook!
I've had this book over a year now and keep going back to it for easy, healthy and most importantly quick recipes. With it, I'm able to serve a variety of meals yet not spend the afternoon cooking them.

EXCELLENT, AS ALWAYS!
This is yet another wonderful book from a gifted storytellerwith an eye for realism and detail. I ... appreciate the growth anddevelopment of characters as opposed to the perpetual childhood of Dennis the Menace and the Archie Gang. Very few books have tastefully, gently and kindly dealt with the passing of a loved one the way this one does. (At one time, I was a little embarrassed to admit that I could be so moved by a comic, but now I'll freely admit that). It is truly a work of art and I love the way you can "suspend" reality by e-mailing the characters! I love the "interactive" forum of the strip and I really love the character of Jim, a savvy senior citizen who brings in some sharp insights. It is past time for seniors to get positive press and I'm glad to see it happen in this book! THREE CHEERS FOR THIS BOOK! END

Terrific
The Best book I have ever read in a long time.I have been reading the For Better or For Worse commic strip for the past two years. My mother is the one who got me hooked on it. What the Patterson family goes through with their kids, My parents go through the same thing. Exspecially my mother who has to put up with having her eldest child going to University and her youngest in college. The one good thing that my mother has is she only has to go through this twice.

I could actually put myself in Elly's shoes!
I've been reading the adventures of the Canadian Patterson family ever since Elizabeth was younger than her sister April is now. I love the way Lynn Johnston's characters grow up and develop...sure, it ensures the eventual end of the strip, but on the other hand I find it so much more interesting this way than characters that stay five-years old forever, like Dennis the Menace or the Peanuts.

I love comic strip collections. On the whole, they're cheaper than buying a year's worth of newspapers, and invaluable if you miss several issues.

In this particular collection, Elly and Phil's dealings with their aging parents hit a little close to home with me, as I and my brother find ourselves in a similar situation. It's uncanny because I experienced some of the guilt, helplessness, and frustration that were portrayed, and I felt a strange kinship with Elly Patterson. I mean, I, a middle aged, never-married Black American suddenly had something in common with a fictional Canadian housewife! I guess it goes to show there are some things we all go through at one time or another. I can think of no better comic than For Better or For Worse to help point that out.

The greatest work from Lynn Johnston in the past!
Long before all those dramatic, tear-jerking, life-changing sequences like the deaths of the family dog and Grandma, Michael's friend coming right out of the closet, and the arrival of the preciousy, self-centered little April, our proud young mom-cartoonist very bravely and candidly spinned out much simpler but such funny, wacky domestic adventures in the endlessly chaotic household so full of sticky fingers, snotty faces, big messes, dog pawprints, spilled crumbs on the sofa cushions, puddles on the kitchen floor, all that fussing and screaming, anything that just plain drove the poor long-suffering momma straight up the wall! Here, instead of all those sentimental, long-winded speeches about each and every of her fictional character, the author simply includes a brief introduction about herself, her family, and her blooming talents as well as the very beginning of her famous strip featuring a typical Canadian family. Then we are treated to the earliest Sunday funnies in full color as well as each memorable sequences all about sibling rivalry, Connie's feverish struggles to keep two families together, going off to the summer camp, Michael's very first romance, Elizabeth's insecurities, the big trip to the farm, Michael's greatest babysitting caper, and Elly's very first perm! A very pleasant trip that will send you giggling down the memory lane!

Very Interesting
It was great to be able to get to know the author of the comics I love so well.

A wonderful read
A wonderful book on adversity in a believers life. This book makes the point that God can use adversity in our lives for good when we take the negative situation and allow it to make us better and not bitter. A wonderful book to give to a new believer. A great book to pass on to someone who has had adversity in their life.

Bitter or Better a must read for those enduring adversity.
"Bitter or Better: The Adversity Principles. The Seven Principles Why God Allows Adversity into Believers' Lives" provides a wonderful theodicy or explaination for why bad things happen to seemingly good Christians. The book goes deeply into the aspects of Biblical character's lives that are often missed. This book makes the well supported point that God can use the seemingly negative experiences of our lives for our good when we embrace the situation rather than allowing it to make us bitter.

The revealing study into the lives of Biblical Characters such as Job, Joseph, Moses and Paul is from a unique perspective that God used the negative events in their lives to prepare them for their future ministry. Had it not been for adversity that revealed their inner heart conditions, they would not have been prepared for their ministries.

An interesting and unexpected aspect of this book is the attack on presumptions that are hampering the modern Church and limiting the effectiveness of the adversity experiences of Christians. Presumptions such as the false propsperity message and the self love movement are examined and debunked through an appropriate Biblical exergesis. This book is a must read for Christians who are willing to be used by God in these last days.

Wonderful!
This book was one of my favorites. It came full of surprises, and belly-aching laughs. One of my fave issues in this book was when Liz tries smoking. It was a very realistic issue which I felt many could actually relate to. I definitely recommend this book to whoever wants laughs and a couple of sympathetic tears.

One of the best FBorFW Collection
I've always read FBorFW in the newspaper, but didn't quite get into the spirit of the collections till a couple years earlier. I'm glad I got absorbed into it. While I love the other comic strips out there, I like the ones where the character age with time. FBorFW is definitely that kind of strips.

It was really an joy to see all the character develop over time. The Patterson family really portray a "normal" family. While I adore them, with the exception of April in some cases, I really wished Lynn would make a separate collection for the supporting characters. Especially Lawrence, Gordon, Brian, and Weed. I really like this collection especially because of Lawrence.

Lawrence, one of Michael's best friend, is revealed to be something no one would have guessed. It indeed is controversial, but the way Lynn wrote it, it had sincerity and sympathy in the whole story. I read about some trouble she went through doing this strip, but in the end I think it is one of her best strips out there, along with Farley's death, and Michael and Deanna's reunion.

I mainly like the strip because of the Lawrence story. To me... this is the turning point for Michael and his crew. The milestone where everything finally comes to place. That's why this is probably my favourite collection for FBorFW.

One of Johnstons best collections.
Not only did this book hold the expected humor and comedy, but also one of Johnstons most controversial stories. Lawrence reveals something about himself that no one would have guessed. A powerful series which took my breath away. This characteristically serious-with-tinges-of-humor strip is the best in it's league. It will truly go down as a classic.
