One of the best books on this topic. It is a very practical book for someone with practical background. No sigma algebra to confuse you, and you do not have to know Girsanov to understand the quanto effect. You just focus on those tough issues you are running into everyday: correlations, long dated FX, cross Gamma hedging, strategic risk management for an exotic book, transaction cost in illiquide market, and so on. In addition, last paragraph of the book is the every reason make me think why this book stands out among these many books.

I find this book extremely useful in my job. It covers almost all aspects of exotic and hybrid instruments: the real life examples, theory behind the pricing models, implementation using different numerical methods, hedging and risk management issues, a good appendix on the basic math stuff and even a sample VBA code to do multivariate MC. Most importantly, the author took a practitioner's point of view, which makes the materials much easier to be understood and applied. However, I did encounter quite a few errors inside some of the formulas. Just name a few, Eq 3.15 and 3.18 on pg 53, Eq 3.142 on pg 98 and Eq H.61 on pg 336. However, none of them is serious (more like a typo to me). In addition, I think it is more important to get the idea right. You can always double check the formula against any math reference book. Overall, I feel it is an excellent reference book for anyone with a serious interest in structured derivatives.

Extremely readable. One could read this book in a single sitting and get a great jumpstart to an understanding of fixed income markets - the why and the how.

Wiseman has an engaging style of writing which prevents the stifled yawns normally associated with reading this genre, and keeps one turning the pages...

The book nicely covers the fundamental theory of why there exists a fixed income market, then turns to the players and discusses what they do, and finally covers some of the fundamental trading strategies and math employed to turn a buck.

i found this book very well written. It provides detail and yet covers that what it says it does. I find that Wiseman explains concepts in a verystraight forward way. Although i had to pause to eat and think about some of the financial products discussed such as "par yields". I found I was able to understand the book. The book contains some of the trader jargon and a outline of the players involved in the market. I think that anyone who wants to something with securities or trading should read this, before/during/after an intership. As the english say "Wiseman" is the dogs ballocks!! get this book!

I would highly recommend this book to any stock investor who is looking for some new ideas to earn back the money they've lost in the bear market. Who ever heard of being paid immediate cash to wait to buy stocks at a lower price? That's what this book taught me to how to do. It sounds too good to be true, but I know it works because I've done it after reading the book. I wanted to buy the Nasdaq 100 Trust (QQQ) at a lower price. Instead of just waiting to see if it went lower, I wrote put contracts on the QQQ at my buy price using what I learned in the book. I collected $485 in cash in my brokerage account the next day. The stock didn't hit my price, so I didn't buy it the first month, but I got to keep the $485, which was a 24% return on an annual basis. The next month I did the same thing (collected $625 this time). My price was hit and I bought the QQQ shares for 15% less than the price when I started this. In the meantime I collected $1,110 while I waited to buy my shares for 15% less. This is explained so well that anyone can do it. Nobody I know seems to know about this. It's all in this book.

I just finished S. Geyer's "The Samson Option." This story is not only a good read that held my interest, but is a timely subject of ongoing turmoil in the Middle East. S. Geyer's escorted me on a walk through history, with its people, religions and customs. Her main characters, Ari and Lily come alive as they each wander on a separate and perilous journey, hoping to rekindle their love for each other. With the book's vivid descriptions, I had a great sense of being there. I could see the lava rocks, steep cobblestone steps leading to ancient buildings, and landscapes going back to the beginning of time.

I'm looking forward to journey again with Ari and Lily in Geyer's sequel entitled, "The Time of Jacob's Troubles."

Thanks either to the efforts of her editors or to herself, Sharon Geyer's latest book makes what is not always an easy step from the non fiction into the fictional world. As in her previous work, Daughter of Jerusalem, the plot of The Samson Option creates an irresistable pull, allowing the reader to enter effortlessly into the flow of the narrative. Also similar to their real life contraparts in Daughter of Jerusalem, the charactors in the Samson Option ring true. By the end of the book you not only feel you know them, but also want to know more of them. Comparing the two books, Ms. Geyer's fiction is as much a vehicle for the truth in all of us, as her autobiography was for her own personal ones. In short, after being put through the ringer by this fast paced story, you're left wanting more. This is always the sign of a superb story teller. For my own part, I look foreward to her next volume.

For a number of years, I frantically searched for any information I thought I could find on sinuses. Doctor Williams is a genius, noting in his book certain symptoms that most doctors have never heard of. It was a tremendous help to me . I am now nearly well and I have doctor Williams to thank for that. I really believe that every Otolaryngologist in this country who is learning or practicing should consider reading this significant and comprehensive bible of sinusitis. I have nearly all of Geoff Thompson's technical books, and I believe this is the best one. In this book, Mr. Thompson covers the difference between a match fight, a gratuitous assault, and a pre-planned mugger's approach of disarming; the effects of muscle memory and action triggers; the different kinds of adreneline and how they effect a fighter; why you should have a 'main artillery' weapon and how to use it; and training for incorperating these newfound principles. Off hand, I'd say the most valuable part of this book is how to deal with the law when it comes to post-fight conditions. Once again, Mr. Thompson, a karate black-belt turned bouncer, covers his 'fence' system and how to use it. Overall, this book gives the reader a terrific game plan for self-defense by giving him or her true knowledge of how fights go down and what to expect.

This is an excellent book and should be in the library of every serious martial artist. It features realistic techniques from real life and street defenses that are easily learned.

When you want to set up a spread, which options set should you use ? out of money, in the money or at the money ? When your trade is not going your way, what kind of damage control is possible ? If you want answers to such practical questions, then this book is for you. All traders in options should read this book. While the book refers to options on futures, traders in stock options should find many useful concepts - as I did.
Persons new to options will probably read this book once they have gone through some introductory text.

Johnston's book is very well done - an excellent read without the hype. It assumes the reader has some knowledge of the options markets. Beginners should start with Natenberg's book then read "Trading options to Win". It's a must read for anyone that's serious about trading options with a defined edge. The book covers several extremely practical trading methodologies, when to employ them (when the odds are very much in your favor), and how to defend when things go wrong(maybe the most important part of the book). I have read numerous books on trading options. This is far and away the most practical book I've found on the subject. It gives the reader something they can use immediately. I also enjoyed the real world trades and how they were deployed and defended. I have to give this book the highest rating.

I first read this book right after law school, when I went to work in the criminal courts as a clerk and bailiff. At that time, in a metropolitan area of over one million, there were no security screeners at the entrances. Gang types were active in the halls. I had to "face up" with the most alpha-dominant types you have ever imagined. Oh, you have to deal with them ever day. Understood. These were people who enjoy, and even get off, on pure evil. This book taught me to actually take their "macho" and add it to my power over them. You probably don't leave home without your kevlar. If you are, or wish you could, absorb this book into the very fabric of your being... because next to kevlar it can save your life. Then give it to your partner. And then to your spouse take a look at - you will gain a whole new receptivity to your daily activities. Be proud, be professional - and become a master in the incredibly effective martial art of verbal judo.
