A catfight with chapters.
This book is written for older women trying to overcome their guilt and self-consciousness about dating younger men. It seems, throughout the book, that the worst thing a woman enjoying a physical relationship with a younger man has to fear are her fellow older women.

It is not written for younger men who want advice on how to catch the older woman of their dreams (and will no doubt turn off more than a few guys with its profoundly shallow approach to human relationships).

Some of its more hysterical lines address why younger men are so much more desirable than older men (you can well imagine what that entails)... This is 1950s style sexism reversed and validated.

What you are left with is: You go girl. You enjoy his body. Forget your catty co-fifty-somethings. Just don't let him near your savings account.

Shallow, shallow, shallow! I am left with the belief that all the five-star reviews were contributed by the authors' friends.

Exceptional Read Offered by Brings and Winter
Older Women, Younger Men is a brilliant read. It gives newfound freedom for women AND men to live their lives the way they want, without the censorship of society, family and friends. I first read about it in Good Housekeeping and was amazed at the honesty of these women authors. Since then, they've been all over, on ABC Evening News, Daily News, USA Today and much more, quickly becoming the key spokesperson's on this subject. They're pioneers! This book gives you tons of tips to navigate through unchartered territories, from jealous friends and mother-in-laws, to older men who hate the idea that older women are taking on what they've been doing for years - which is, be with who you want to be with. Older women are staying beautiful much longer and have power and money to make new choices. Hurray for Brings and Winter for telling the story straight about NEW OPTIONS for a new generation. The book gives countless examples of relationships that worked with age differences ten to fifteen years apart. You see early on from their articulate writing that it's not about age, it's about chemistry, timing and courage. Well, writing this book took courage and it's making a difference on the planet. Praise to both women and this book. Rush out and buy it!

A classic writ from the 1950's Generation
Remarkable. Truly a leading standard bearer for the 'rights of the individual' as sacrosanct. Espousing the satisfaction of one's own sexual needs as being first and foremost, this text is a high archetypal testament to the mindset of glamour that drives capitalist society. Regardless of global collectives, this book is indisputable in affirming that the predominant sexual values of American culture must, and do, come first.

This is a "must read" for its well-articulated expressions propagating gender victories: chalk up one more for the feminine side.

Detailed Help
Facing a hysterectomy, I needed to KNOW all I could, before going in for surgery. I bought this book, Woman's Guide to Hysterectomy, by Haas & Puretz....as well as Hysterectomy: Before & After, by Cutler. Actually, BOTH books were helpful. They were clear, frank, and detailed. When I talked to my doctor, I was already knowledgable and could concentrate on what she was saying. Also, this book describes, in detail, what I can expect the day of surgery; the next day, and the next. My surgeon doesn't have time for all the detail I wanted. Great book.

A wise guide to decisions regarding hysterectomy
I found the book extermely balanced, nuanced and sensitive, in presenting varying points of view regarding issues of hysterectomy, hormone replacement, sex after surgery, etc. Relevant to both illness and healthy gynecological maintenance, not only for women facing surgery. Friend to whom I sent this book said it was the major source she used in decision making. Highly recommended.

Great book!
Out of the 3 books I bought on this subject, this one was the most informative and useful. It's a BIG book, with easy to read and understand chapters from pre-op to post-op and more! My doctor was suprised I was so informed at my pre-op appt., and I felt so much better knowing all the details he didn't have time to discuss with me. If you are having the operation, get this book, you'll be glad you did!

An Extremely Valuable and Timely Book
In these days of dismal stock market performance it's refreshing to find an investment that combines safety with good returns. My interest in the good returns available in real estate have always been offset by the amount of effort usually required from its owner. Virsnieks' book has changed that all for me.

Here in one place is a comprehensive collection of what every investor needs to know to make money in real estate the low maintenance way. The book is straight forward, easy to read and even the beginner can learn all he or she needs to know to profit from investing in condominiums.

It is a wonder how much good, useful information is contained in this book. This book is a real find!

No risk investing
This is the best book for the beginning investor and for all those who ned a place to live. The author of "How to Invest in Condominiums" bought his first condominiumum as a residence rather than throw away money on rent. Hence the first principle of is invest plan to invest in a place that you yourself would live in. The second principle, as I see it, is do the research and make sure that most of the units are owner occupied. This will insure pride of ownership and ensure that your investment is protected by all the other owners. I am recommending this to book to my friends in San Diego. Those who invested or bought condominiums in 1997 are now very happy. Those who rented and invested in the booming 1997 stockmarket are now crying ower spilt milk. Even for those who are not investors but need a place to live this book is an excellent easy to follow guide to fiscal security. This is a risk free, insofar as life can be risk free, and can't lose investment guide.

Why didn't I read this 10 years ago?
This book is so easy to read and understand. After watching my stocks loose all of their gains from the last 10 years almost over night, I determined to use this investment formula for my future. The plan is straight foreword and can be applied any where you live. I have already purchased my first rental and it is paying for itself.

A great book. A good accessory to any AD&D campaign.
This books is good accessory to any AD&D campaign. This books clearly defines outlines magic and it's role in a campaign, including scarity, mystery, cost, and world view. Also included is many new schools of magic, new classes (monk, crusader, and shaman), and redefines bardic magic. In addition there are new non-weapon profiencies for wizard and priests and heaps of information regarding spell research and magic item creation. A complete list of spell components are included as well, as long with cost and rarity. Lastly, the book have information on alternate rules such as spell point, critical strikes, and custom character creation. The only reason I didn't rate this book higher is that some of this information is tedious and isn't all that useful in my campaign. It still is great accessory to any AD&D campaign. The new rules and spells should be enough for most players!

A must for one looking to make a tailor made mage..
If you're looking to make that wizard or priest that is unique to your tastes than this is it. Endow your priests with spell-like abilities from your gods that can be used 1/day, 2/day or even make the ability a continuous power. Also rules for Optional methods of spell casting, critical hit charts for spells, new wizard and priest proficiencies and spells, more reference on magical item creation and even pricing and building a library for your mages. It's a must have for any priest or mage. And if you like this book, check out the Players Options: Skills and powers. I didn't see it in any Amazon listing but it goes great with the Spells and Magic book.

Reward's for being creative.
I was searching for a way to create magical items with a mage and picked up this book and found it defines this and more. I was able to hunt for magical components and this book helped with the research factor.

I wanted to find a few off-the-wall components and this book helped to define a good way to do that. It was helpful in answer magic related questions about Mages and what an Enchanter is good for or an Invoker. This book is a must if you plan of playing or running Mages, it is very helpful.

Very little trading information...
I was disappointed in this book, as it contains very little information that is applicable to trading strategies. The only information in this category is very general and would be found in virtually any trading book. Primarily, this book seems to be one big advertisement for the futures industry. A large section of the book is devoted to the history of online trading and the companies who shaped it as well as interviews with principals of these firms.

If you are a new trader, you may find something useful here. If, however, you are a seasoned trader, there is virtually nothing in this book that you will find helpful.

The Art of Electronic Futures Trading
This book covers the beginning of electronic trading in the futures industry from the perspective of the authors who first introduced electronic trading to the futures industry. It covers the fears that sweep the futures industry as electronics threatens to close the traditional oupen outcry meathod of trading futures. The interviews with the original developers of the software really puts in persective how far we have come in the past few years. The book also helps you rate your personality and help you decide what system might be right for your psychological profile. With that in mind it is then time to design a system that is right for me. I found the book very informative and made me feel at ease knowing that the system I designed for myself even though not guaranteed to make money, will make me feel comfortable about trading it.

The Art of Electronic Futures Trading
This book starts out with the history of CME and progresses evenly into the future of electronic trading. Speaks in layman terms, concise and flows smoothly for the non-professional trader. The question and answer section was extremely helpful and interesting. A necessary handbook for anyone looking to become an effective screen trader.

Explicit Treatment of a New Analytical Framework
This book attempts to expose the reader in a nontechnical manner to the new technique of evaluating investments in the New Economy characterised by volatility and uncertainty. The author does so without resorting to mathematical methods. The book is basically expository and attempts to build upon the readers'familiarity with financial options. It concentrates in describing the real options which each business decision is confronted with and demonstrates the flexibility which managers face. He views these opportunities as options even the decision not to implement the plan. This is a creative approach to understanding what real options is all about.

The most practical book ever read on the subject!
I would like to congratulate Dr. Boer on his success with making "real options" real for the practitioners. I have read many, if not most, most of the books out there on this topic, and found none to be as accessible and fun to read as Dr. Boer's treatment of this subject.

I have also bought his other book, The Valuation of Technology - Business and Financial Issues in R&D. Again, full of practical insights that are not available elsewhere.

I fail to understand the scathing review of the reader from Norway. Was this person expecting to learn about financial options, instead of real options, from this book? In that case, it was the reader's mistake for picking the wrong book! For real options, this book has no peer. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to apply the real options theory to real-world problems.

Thanks Dr. Boer for a job well done and for making a real contribution to realistic valuation and pricing of business opportunities.

Real Options: An Essential Component of Total Value
The Real Options Solution is a must read for anyone interested in the creation of value or wishing to understand or quantify the total value of a company. It clearly sets out why the value of any company must include the value of its business plans and the options that these afford, before going on to explain the more technical aspect of valuing such plans or options.

F.P.Boer, in the first section of this book, successfully achieves a discussion of value and its components that will satisfy anyone wishing to understand how to perform a calculation of the value of a real option, detailing what data would be required, how to build this into a total value caluclation etc. Yet the use of only a limited number of diagrams and numerical examples makes this book accessible to all, not just those interested in a text book approach, without in any way compromising the content or quality of the material provided. In the second section several topics are discussed, with numerous examples both contemporary and from history, including 1) risk, it's upside as well as downside potential and the treatment of different types of risk in valuations, 2) intellectual capital, what is and how it could be valued and 3) innovation and why this is essential to future value creation, with all issues discussed adding an important dimension to this very practical guide to value.

Practical Options Trading
I have read several options books and they are mostly theoretical or geared towards option market makers. This was the first book I read that I felt was practical. The beginning of this book is very simplistic and explains everything from what an option is to how they are priced. I found it a little to easy, but if you do not know anything about options then this would be a great place to start. The second section and strategy section are the best I have seen for the practical retail trader. I found it very interesting how market makers make markets and how it may effect the retail trader. This was also the first book that I have read that made volatility simple to understand. The best part was the strategy section. The book is divided into bullish, bearish, flat market, and volatile market strategies. I found this to be a great reference tool. This book should be on the self of every advanced retail trader. I have seen the author, Michael Williams, speak in New York and found him very knowledgeable, but even more importantly an excellent teacher. I would rate this book 4 1/2 stars because I am already familiar with options and the beginning is introductory. This book is for the retail client that wants to take advantage of options and the leverage they provide. I would rank this book for beginners to intermediate. For an advance book I would recommend Natenberg's "Option Volatility and Pricing". These two books together are all you need for stock options.

Now I understand volitility!
...well, almost! Reading this clear and concise book makes me feel that even a math-phobe like me can master the options market! While reading the explainations of what an option is, to the lingo, to postions, I never felt that I was in over my head...or that it was written in a way that was determined to go over my head! It's simplicity was refreshing and empowering, and I find that I go back to it again and again as a reference point.

Who knew I'd ever get excited over a book about options trading?

Finally....
Finally, a book about options that is understandable and helpful. The book has been reprinted so the errors that the other readers referred to have been corrected. I loved it!

The Handbook of Fixed Income Securities

HAND BOOK
(...) It gives a lot of general info on a lot of different Fixed income topics. It's a good ref. for people just getting involved with fixed income. However if you are looking for focused material, you should look into one of Frank's books on that area. Good overall intuition on Fixed income markets and products.

Comprehensive Fixed Income Info
If you are in the financial world dealing with fixed income directly or indirectly, just entering into the fixed income world, or looking for a great FI reference, go no further. This is it. Very broad with heavy MBS influence as well as the basics of fixed income. This is for novice to intermediate FI users. Academics and advanced portfolio managers might find this general. But, for the large population this is the spot.

The sine qua non
This book has been around for years and new editions are lapped up by fresh generations of bond geeks. You will find a copy on pretty much every fixed income desk in the industry (including mine). Why all the hoopla? Because there is simply no other book like it. Because it is simply the most comprehensive survey of the various fixed income markets in print. For a basic understanding of the structure and institutional aspects fixed income securities, Fabozzi is the inevitable first stop. All this being said, it is important to understand the book's weaknesses. There is relatively little depth in terms of analytics and if you want formulae you will have to look elsewhere. But for basic overviews, structural details and the orientation that is a precondition for deeper study, the Handbook is in a class by itelf.

Disappointed! Too simple, sometimes naive
This is the second Jake book I had read up till now. The first one is "Investment Quotient" which I gave my highest rating. That does not lead to my negative comment on this one because of over expectation. It's just that the content and quality of this so named guide just cannot be described as compleat.

In one single book of only 200 pages, Jake tried to discuss many important elements of day trading, including history, mechanism, player characteristics, market structure and even sophisticated technical tools like Stochastics, MACD, Momentum, various forms of Moving Average and even AI. The problem is: he tried to cover so many things that the whole book becomes very shallow and far from what is needed for this highly risky game.

I dont understand why many reviewers gave this book such high ratings. I am afraid that many amateurs had already been lured to enter the game under the false illusion that they became better, if not well equipped, after reading this book, and had already fallen prey to the market crocs.

Compleat Guide to Day Trading Stocks
The Compleat Guide to Day Trading Stocks is just that: one of the most complete and very best books ever written on the subject of day trading. Its highly regarded author, Jake Bernstein takes the reader from the very basics such as realistic risk/reward considerations, the essential mechanics of trend-following systems, fundamental vs. technical analysis, timing indicators, stochastics and charts, all the way to clear and precise systems and methods as well as the Psychology of Day Trading. He goes out of his way to make sure that the reader is absolutely aware of all aspects of day trading before making a commitment - including the long and painful learning curve that is inevitable - and clearly states who should not undertake day trading. Having said that, if the reader understands this, and is still firmly committed to making day trading a success, Mr. Bernstein gives his utmost support by going deeply into the nuts and bolts of the art by providing a solid foundation with proven strategies that can be thoroughly back-tested. This is really the most beneficial part of the book for the experienced investor, and is that which sets it apart from the many more general works on the subject. The reader is encouraged to learn and test these methods and systems and to incorporate the ones that are best suited to his/her own investment style. Pitfalls are clearly stated and the writing is extremely fluid and easy to understand. Best of all, the reader subconsciously develops the proper attitude that is so essential to succeed - that day trading should be treated as a serious business which can and will only be successful if done with the proper frame of mind, diligence, hard work, and risk management as well as a dedication to discipline. I highly recommend it!

For those willing to work at day trading.
This is an excellent book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to work at day trading. This isn't a book that promises riches in a few easy steps. At the start of the book, the author writes: "If you seek success as a day trader, you'll have to make your money the good old-fashioned way: you'll have to do some work."

In addition to doing a good job of providing an overview of several technical indicators (including lists of the PROS and CONS of each one), the author devotes several chapters to detailed explanations of various approaches.

He also provides information on (the indispensable idea of) system development, practical considerations of day trading, and the psychology of day trading.

Again, to anyone who is serious about day trading, I would HIGHLY recommend this book.

Optional Wealth
As someone intimidated by the subject of options trading, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in investing in the stock market. It introduced me to the fact that options are not the 100% gample I previously thought they were (but my stocks are!). It shows how options, if used properly, can actually provide risk protection. This manual also shattered my preconceived notion that option trading was just for high rollers. It offers unique strategies for a range of investing levels, including smaller investors such as myself. Don't let the casual presentation mislead you. These authors are seasoned veterans in this field and have proven they know what they are talking about. "Optional Wealth" is a worthwhile read and a great source for both information and motivation!

Great for Those Wanting to Learn Proven Options Strategies
I learned about the futures and options market in my MBA classes. However, you don't learn street proven trading strategies from an MBA program. You learn these strategies from books such as Optional Wealth.

This book is great for those looking to learn proven options strategies for the first time. For those who are already experienced options traders, there are techniques in the book that can enhance your current trading strategies.

The author's publish their trandes on their website and you'll notice that they rarely lose.

This Integrated Strategy Works
Having taught Finance at various schools, I found this book refreshingly straightforward for a topic most of my students find complex. Unlike a lot of the text type books on this topic (which are also good for technical analyst types), the authors have captured and synthesized a very clear strategy which works.
The incorporation of LEAP's which were introduced in the early 1990's and training on the language of options which I find many brokers do not understand, makes this volume unique.
I recently began recieving the fax service which provides real time reccomendations and ongoing guidance for all positions. So far I have achieved results beyond what I used to achieve with my regular equity positions.
I would reccomend this book for those that are new to options as well as those who have some years of experience. I have found it a small investment that pays for itself many times over.
