United States Air Force Search and Rescue Survival TrainingThis is a grate book for outdoors people! It has all the Need To Know information you need.
A Great Survival ReferenceI was impressed with the variety of survival subjects covered in this regulation. Written from the perspective of both the downed aircrewman and the USAF search and rescue team member, it goes beyond the Army Survival Manual and it takes a different view than that of the SAS Survival Guide. This book has gained a place in my survival library and I highly recommend it.

Defintely the MOST comprehensive disaster control book...How many other books of this type have a chapter concerning how to deal with a UFO crash? Seriously, Chapter 13 is entitled "Enemy Attack and UFO Potential." I've always been a skeptic concerning these types of things, but when a completely serious book like this has a chapter about dealing with UFOs (and one of the authors claims to have seen one), you just have to wonder...

Um, is anyone worried about Al Qaeda reading this?I stumbled upon this book when looking for the VHS for Black Hawk Down. I cannot believe that Amazon is actually selling this post 9/11. US military training manuals have been found in Al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan. Does Amazon think that Al Qaeda is too stupid not to look for training documents on their website? I would hate to see good soldiers die because their methods were known by the enemy.
Actually three stars and a half!!!I got a little bit disappointment after I opened it.
First, they should write down the names of the manuals
Not just Fm-xx
I think seldom people could remember the title of each manual
Unless he is working for the TRADOC.
Next, they stuff something like Fm 7-7
"Mechanize infantry platoon and suqad" in this SPEC OP manual.
Did they out of their minds?
And something like Nuclear Op/NBC Recon are NOT REALLY RELATED
to SPEC OPs.
Why don`t they put something like EOD in this manual?
If anyone got enough bandwidth, just go to TRADOC Library
and download those manuals...
A Review By A Navy SEALI think this CD-Rom is a great tool to use if you want to learn about special operations. It is easy to use, just put it in and go. Being a Navy SEAL myself I think it has everything you need to know.

ilikebirdsI like birds, and so I liked this book about birds and about people (some of them important and some of them guys who wear hats like me) who like birds. Except, I hated the guy in the end who shot the birds. He was a bad, bad man. And, the end the end. Soleil coup coupe.

Too many outdated linksThe book has some utility as a basic guide; but there are too many outdated links. On the cover, an address is given for "Updates available online to keep you current", but that address is outdated and refers to another page, where there are no links to new military Web sites. The index could be better.

Packed with info, but no organizationThis CD set is a compilation of articles and photos from the Internet and military web sites during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The web pages have been distilled into PDF documents. Though the idea is good in concept, and the CD is packed with information, it's difficult to navigate for three reasons: 1-) Links to the internet may or may not work and it's not clear which ones will work, 2-) there's just no logic to the organization or lack thereof, and 3-) most CDs offering PDF file format at least setup bookmarks and indexes for each of the documents. Some of the documents are thousands of pages long, but there is no index. So, it's tough to get through. I was disappointed that the editor/creator did not take the time to burn the larger image files to archive with the docs; many of the images are just thumbnails. If you're interested in tons of information you have to sift through, this is it. If you want to use it as a research tool, the time you spend looking for specific information will undoubtedly discourage you.

Too much Gulf War Illnesses, not enough military historyI'm sorry to say, but this CD-ROM is simply disappointing from a military-historian point of view. 545 MBytes of the 576 MBytes of data is an off-line version of the GulfLINK web page, which is focused on the Gulf War Illnesses. The remaining data are some interviews, some maps, some photos/artwork and the electronic version of "The Whirlwind War". For a CD-ROM that is centred on the history of the Gulf War this is simply not enough. There is another edition from the same publisher centred only around the Gulf War Illnesses for those who seek such information, so there was no need to recycle this data here on this CD-ROM and leave out all those other official important documents about the history of the Gulf War.

And the point is?This CD-ROM consists of Adobe Acrobat files. It is a compilation of publicly available web pages that contain information about US Navy submarines and the submarine force. As far as I can tell, you could just as easily find the same material on the web with a decent search engine. For example, the CD contains the issues of Undersea Warfare magazine, which is readily available from a Navy public website. Many of the graphics are extremely blocky and unreadable. The web pages are largely DOD server downloads of public material, and are verbatim, right down to the warnings. A surprising number of pages are just 'spillovers" from the bottom of a web page, and contain no information. Clearly, almost no editing of the material was attempted when transferring to the disc. If you use the disc while online, you can click on the hyperlinks and they will take you to more information. Not worth the money.
