Mostly one sect;Very good research into available resources.
She has a nice general overview about the history of Buddhism, even though the rest of the book address one direction. That's fine. I esp. liked her comparisons of different Buddhist meetings/sessions (found an error on page 30: scroll is the gohonzon, page 31: cabinet is the butsudan, not the gohonzon). I found the description of the roles of women in Buddhism also very helpful. I never knew there was a sect in Korea with NUNS!

Excellent resource indexes the Lectionary to the Catechism
Fr. Kris Stubna's book is an excellent resource for catechists, especially those involved in RCIA programs. The book indexes the official Catechism of the Catholic Church to the Sunday and major feast day readings in the Lectionary.

Each page features a brief synopsis of the day's scipture passages along with the appropriate sections of the Catechism where those themes are explained by the Church. It does not, however, contain suggested homilies and sermons or structured outlines for developing them. For that, catechists would be wise to consult Scott Hahn's "Homily Helps" at the St. Paul Theology Center website, www.salvationhistory.com

I searched a long time before finding this book, and to my knowledge it is the only resource of its kind.

Revelation!
WOW! This is truly an inspired journey into the most enigmatic book in the Bible! "Opening the Seven Seals of Revelation: The Methodology of Decrypting Hidden Messages in the Bible" may be the most remarkable REVELATION about our EArthly human existence since learning the EArth is not flat. The evidence provides startling eye opening revelations every human being must consider with the now undeniable return of NASA's planet 'X' and the Vatican's 2000 meeting with Zachariah Sitchin. The mathematical, analytical, and logical methodology employed by the author for decrypting these hidden messages are profound, yet simple. An inside look into the writings of John the Beloved and the prophetic language of the Gods, this book is a definite culture shock for everyone who thought those old Bible stories were a bunch of myths, and vampires really don't exist. I will read this again and again and recommend this historic reference to every church, university, library, and family seeking a deeper understanding into the symbolic language of the Bible, the book of Revelation, and the universe around us. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing us he does not exist! You really should read this book.

Opening of Insight
I just received this book and have read only the introductory matierial and chapter one as yet, but this is a book I will keep in my home library. Each line(s) of the Tanya is explained by Rabbi Steinsaltz in language that even allows one not trained in Kabbalah and Hassidism to understand. As a Christian who is studying Kabbalah, this book has opened a new and deeper understanding for me of many of the teachings in Kabbalah by tying them to verses in the Torah, Talmud, and other writings which would otherwise be inaccessible to me. Rabbi Steinsaltz has helped me wade into the waters of Rabbi Ashlag's writings as well. A book for seekers after Wisdom.

Opening to God: Guided Imagery Meditation on Scripture (Pathways in Spiritual Growth)
Published in Paperback by Upper Room (April, 1996)
Authors: Carolyn Stahl Bohler and Howard Clinebell
Amazon base price: $13.00
Used price: $47.99

Great Way to Pray and to Start Discussions
I read Opening to God first as a book about prayer, then I discovered that Carolyn Stahl Bohler has actually written prayers and ways to engage in conversation with God. Simply taking the time to read and reflect and rest in silence with her guided prayer meditations allows me to hear the still small voice of God.

Most of Dr. Bohler's meditations are based on the four Gospels, episodes in the ministry of Jesus. She does include prayer meditations based on some Psalms and other Old Testament books as well as some of the New Testament epistles. I used one of the meditations with a church youth group. Dr. Bohler uses a meditation from a noncanonical Gospel. The meditation worked very well with the kids in the group, then they wanted to know where the scripture was located. "Gospel of Mary." "What's that? You mean the Song of Mary? The Magnificat?" "No, the Gospel of Mary." That led to conversation about the criteria for inclusion within the canonical ranks of scripture. Good conversations about the importance of scripture and the kids are continuing to read and reflect on the scripture and to study the history of scripture and the church. Excellent for a church in an urban setting!

Opening to Inner Light: The Transformation of Human Nature and Consciousness
Published in Paperback by J. P. Tarcher (May, 1986)
Author: Ralph Metzner
Amazon base price: $10.95
Used price: $2.49
Average review score:

Overlooked classic
Extraordinary book. Not a long book, but very rich and deep. Synthesizes many philosophical texts and ideas in conjunction with an examination of metaphors and analogies used to describe breakthroughs, awakenings, cosmic realizations and the like. A pleasure to read, with many valuable and leading footnotes. I could often anticipate his lines of thought, but they were so well-stated that they served to bring me further illumination, as well as affirmation of thoughts I already had. It's hard to convey how good this book is. Metzner very closely associated with Leary, but this work deals very little with drugs.

Opening to the Infinite: Human Multidimensional Potential

Opening to the Infinite - an opening of truth in the world
It is becoming increasingly evident, on scales of global awareness, the essential difference between what has become charectarized as "New Age" and the goal of human spiritual evolution: the Multidimensional Age. Drawing rational conclusions from theoretical physics, transpersonal psychology, psychic research, and case studies, A. Bryant and L. Seebach present this remarkable study on the multidimensional potential of human beings. What is great about the book is it does not promulgate any belief system or presupposition on the basis of current trends in New Age culture; instead it guides the reader directly to the source and memory of the originary new age experience. Remote viewer Ingo Swann forewords the conclusions by the authors in the areas of DNA, memory, multidimensional consciousness and evolutionary biology. Case studies are used to describe unique individuals called multidimensionals. A multidimensional individual experiences reality in many more dimensions and processes information in ways our general culture and psychology cannot comprehend. The multidimensional individual is able to perceive, remember, and assimilate knowledge from higher-dimensions of space and time. As forerunners of human evolution these individuals may one day change the way we look at science, spirituality, philosophy, art, medicine, and life in general. Many of the difficulties the multidimensional indivdual experiences in our society (standardized human beliefs - pre-evolutioned systems, school etc.) are also given antedotes for parents, teachers, and friends so they can better understand and learn to validate these individuals for what they truly represent for the future of humankind.

As the title suggests "Opening to the Infinite" is about opening our minds to the possibilities of the infinite, and a world without borders or boundaries, a world without limitations, rules, or even control; and essentialy, opening our consciousness to the reality of multidimensionality. Opening to the Infinite truly is an opening, for the eyes and mind, as well an opening of truth within the world.

You will learn to translate and understand certain universal basics of the language, such as the 'energy body', which forms the framework upon which all psychic work is based.
