OK, I'm sold...Henderson seems to be the exception. Her very clear exercises teach about energy, how it interacts with the body, how it defines our boundaries, and how it permits us to merge with others or to maintain a space of our own.
The book was so good I sought her out. I learned genuinely useful and compassionate energy work from her, and each lesson made me realize how much of her knowledge she has put in this book. This is American Tantra, taught by a woman who knows it.

Overcoming Musical Roadblocks due to Dyslexic TendenciesHere is the Table of Contents:
Chapter 1 - The Manifestations of Dyslexia, its biological bases, and its effects on daily living.
Chapter 2- how dyslexia can affect musicians
Chapter 3- Dyslexia and musical development
Chapter 4 through 19- Personal stories about Dyslexic Musicians
Chapter 20- a multi-sensory approach to the teaching of musical notation.
Chapter 21- Gathering the threads
Appendix I- Recognizing the dyslexic child-notes for parents and teachers.
Appendix II- Checklist of dyslexic symptoms in adults.
I feel the first 4 chapters alone are worth getting the book for. Having someone explain Their Theory on Music and Dyslexia in a nutshell was very enlightening.
In Chapter 20- The Author has developed a method he calls 'Colour Staff' for learning to read Music. Interestingly enough I have developed my own variation of the same idea with using color.
After reading his idea and comparing it to mine, I like mine better. I created a 'Grand Staff' on a Word Processor and using Colored Notes I have been writing Music "In Color" for 6 Months. And guess what, IT WORKED! My daughter can read music now, and no longer has to memorize the songs she learns. I'm considering writing some sort of booklet on My Colored Notes Theory, and possibly a Web Site in the future...I hope this information helps you in your search for finding new ways of Learning to read Music. ....

Toxic things & public policy

A helpful book for children about beginning banking.

Zen There, Done ThatTo encounter the koan on its own terms, one needs access to the linguistic skills of Dr. Heine and his deep appreciation of the historic and cultural context in which each different koan was developed.
Dr. Heine applies his linguistic scholarship of the Chinese dialects of seventh century China to create a topical classification of selected koans, and the classification itself tells us new things about how to understand the koans within those classes. Aside from the koan practicer's interest, this book certainly must rate as a "feat of scholarship" among academics.
Koans and their associated tradditional commentaries are full of arcane Chinese word play, from which the author has generally spared the reader. Dr. Heine does not concern himself with "solving" a koan, but rather provides the reader with the contextual ACCESS to develope his own insights into a koan.
Most books about koans are not worth their paper, much less the reader's time to think about them. The "keepers" on this subject are this book and Heine's "The Koan: Texts and Contexts in Zen Buddhism". Don't leave samsara without them.
