A rash of murders is terorizing Manhattan. The victims have several things in common- all are young women who live in older West Side apartments without doormen. Each has been killed by a clean puncture wound through the heart, as if there had been no struggle. in each victim's apartment tow glasses of soda are fizzing away, as if the woman let the murderer into her apartment trustingly. And the murderer had left a ghoulish touch- a gaily painted papier-mache gondola artfully placed next to the head of each corpse.

Laura Barnett is a beautiful young professional woman living n Manhattan- on the upper West Side. At first she's not overly concerned when she starts getting anonymous gifts in the mail. But as the gifts get more and more personal- and more and more threatening- her curiosity turns into horror.

Detective Karlov is in charge of finding the murderer. The killer seems to be a highly professional psychopath, it seems he had left no traceable clues. The victims appear to have known him, but they have no friends in common, As one woman after the other is killed, in the same efficient manner, he fears he is on the trail of someone uncatchable.

I liked this book because it is really helpfull to understand most of Inventors Objects,methods and classes, which are not very easy to read on the digital format that comes with it. Really good buy for anyone that who wants to write applications using Open Inventor, from begineers to experienced users.

Premise that everyone benefits when students, parents, educators and others in a school community are allowed to live openly in terms of sexual orientation. Advocates of safe schools in the most basic sense...safe to be oneself. Good reference materials and fairly easy (non technical) reading.

this book made a huge impact on my prayer life. it continues to strengthen my prayer life and bring me closer to god.

If you are interested in this subject, it is certainly a book that you want to read. It provides an excellent analysis of the situation. In the '90's the irrational exuberance of the economic potential of the Internet created the dot-com bubble. There is also an inflated perception on what the Internet means socially, a condition that still exists. This book is a pin that pops that bubble.

One warning, this book is not a page-turner. At times the way in which the authors deliver the information is somewhat dry. This made the book difficult to read at times. This is not to suggest a fault, you just need to be prepared for what you are about to read.

If you are looking for a fun filled read, this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a book that delivers factual information and insights on the implications of the Internet on closed regimes, then this should definitely be part of your library.

This was a comprehensive look into Las Vegas for the average traveler. This book was very good at pointing out various hotspots and steering the reader clear of tourist traps. The one fault of this publication was that it contains no pictures of the area and only text and a few maps. Pictures would have enhanced the purpose of the travel guide by giving the reader visual cues to the Las Vegas when actually in the city.

A great book for finding small unique villages and less commercial hotels and inns. We had a great trip and found amazing hotels, wineries, and restaurants in this book that even locals didn't know about. Buy it before leaving for Portugal.

Although this book is the size of a phone book, Mr. Caloia has compiled thousands of games into a relatively small space. He appeals to all educators for the sake of children and families by making reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, pronunciation, arithmetic, history, geography, culture, memory, and imagination fun and enjoyable for everyone.
It has added immeasurably to my curriculum, enhancing and replacing dull moments with fun new ways to learn. Using everyday items found in most homes such as cards, dice, money, maps, stamps, newspapears, almanacs, dictionaries, atlases, and encyclopedias, makes this book easy to use yet challenging enough for everyone.
While on vacation, my children and I happened to meet Philip Caloia and he initiated a game with us. It is his gift and talent, and he has organized it into the pages of Open Says-a-Me. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys games, education, and family.

This book lifts a veil on that still rather taboo issue.
A few celebrities are mentioned in this book, but I felt that most of the chapters were more for insiders.

Fortunately, this book contains also some important movie issues which tell a lot about the mentality of the people who ran (run) the studios.

Hollywood's success story is based on its star system. A big panic broke out in the fifties of last century when one of the superstars 'Ingrid Bergman' left Hollywood to marry Roberto Rossellini. The movie bosses were shattered and thought that they would lose a big part of their public (the box office). They launched a big smear campaign against the actress and forced the movie reviewers to criticize heavily her new films. The not so 'orthodox' behaviour of other superstars was left unscathed.

The author unveils also the real role of Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons as the 'Big Sisters' of Hollywood, who spied on the stars and employees of the studios on behalf of the bosses. If the crew didn't behave as the bosses wanted, they were called on the carpet and told that 'Unless you show yourself as a respectable person, you'll lose your contract."

A decent work on a difficult subject.

Other teachers and I love this book! It has helped many students transition from Spanish to English with friendly characters that they love. I would recommend this to anyone helping a student find the words to express their knowledge!
