A must read!!
This is a great book about fervently loving. I loved it! It tells us how we should love another even when they don't return their love. This a great book to build up your christian life!

Totally in love with Todd
I know that this series is mainly about Sierra, but this is one of the few books that talks about Christy too. Sierra goes to Switzerland with Christy to help her decide if she should go to college there. Christy likes the school and all, but she still isn't sure... Sierra says that she thinks Todd is totally in love with Christy, but not ready to admit it to himself yet. Christy says that she knows she loves Todd too. Todd has always been the catious and slow kind of guy. His parents divorced when he was little and he doesn't want to make any mistakes. He knows what pain it can cause. He told Christy that if God really had meant for them to be together-- meaning they were supposed to get married someday-- being seperated wouldn't change their relationship. It would only make them appreciate each other more. So in the end, she decides to go to school there. The book has a lot about Christy, but of course it's supposed to be mainly about Sierra. I wanted to talk about Christy and Todd though because that's like the ultimate romance. Anyways, it's a GREAT book if you like the Christy Miller series and it's one of the best Sierra books.

Sierra Jensen & Christy Miller books are a must read!
I started reading these books when a friend recommended them. I thought they sounded so stupid, but I read the first one and got hooked. Sierra Jensen, along with Christy Miller books seem to bring me closer to the Lord. After reading them, I have a great feeling inside. The best part, is that I relate to every single one of them. The guys they meet are amazing! This is a great series that a Christian or non-Christian should read!!

Twist the throttle and hold on
Anyone who is a fan of motocross/supercross will love this book. From the beginning, borrowing other people's bikes to race, through the glory years with Honda, this book provides a great insight into the racer's life. Particularly interesting to me were the details of factory-team politics and the stories behind Jeremy's move from Kawasaki to Honda, briefly to Suzuki and then to Yamaha and finally KTM.
I really couldn't put this book down. The style of the writing is fun and honest enough that you can really imagine MC telling you his story.

Best Book
YThis is the best book I highly reccomend it-it is so interesting and good-happy reading

Can't keep hands off!
Written so anyone of any age enjoys reading! I can NOT get my boys to read ANYTHING but my 12 year old stayed up late reading it... He is actually having to fight for time to read with his 16 year old brother and his FATHER! Very interesting! Especially for those who love to ride & race bikes.

A 4th Course of Chicken Soup for the Soul
A 4th Course of Chicken Soup for the Soul

By Melody Beattie, Bob Greene, Edgar Guest,
Harvey Mackay, Pat Riley, and many more

Stories, motivational excerpts

Chicken Soup for the Soul is a fantastic, true book with hundreds of stories inside all about people's real live experiences. The sections covered in here are about love, kindness, parents and parenting, teaching and learning, death and dying, matter of perspective, overcoming obstacles, and elective wisdom. Everyone and anyone who reads this book can find stories that they can relate to, while enjoying them. Happiness and sorrow is merely a speck of all the emotions felt throughout this amazing book. When reading this you are able to learn the different kinds of situations there are and the everyday people who go through them. This book is extraordinary and unique; how it slams real life into your face and shows exactly how unpredictable life can be. It also shows us how we should value those around us, for we do not know when it is anyone's time to go.
All of the characters are real people who have gone through an event and have decided to share it with us. Each story has a beginning, middle, and end to it; just like life. Their stories are there to help others or to send a powerful message across that has once touched them. Each and every story is unique, interesting, and 100% true. So be prepared for any kind of emotions, because in real life you don't always know what the outcome will be.
The stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul are all directly from those who experienced the story. They are all easy to understand and follow. The voice in each story is so strong that it actually feels as though the person is right there telling you their story; it's unbelievable! Though not all stories may be your type or make you feel comfortable, just skip them and move on to those that interest you more. There is something for everyone in this original book. After reading Chicken Soup for the Soul you will be able to truly see how precious life really is.

Too good to describe
I have read several of the Chicken Soup books and love them all. A five star rating is not high enough, it should be ten! I recommend all of the ones that I've read to all of my friends and even give out the Chicken Soup Calendars as gifts. I want them to experience the feelings that I have when I read the books. (My favorite story is the one about adoption when a child says that an adopted child is one that grows in her mommy's heart instead of her belly.)

This book, like the first three has moved me.
I had read all three of the Chicken Soup books until 5 days ago when I recieved book 4 for my 11th birthday. There was one story that I read that made me realize what beautiful really is. That story was called "Beautiful on the Inside". It was about a little girl who when told she was beautiful, replied boredly, "Yes, I know!". Then her mother explained to her how to be beautiful on the inside. Then two years after, the child's friend's mother had died and they went to visit her grave. The little girl showed great care and love and sorrow to her friend. Then, after the child's friend left, she asked her mother,"Mommy, was I beautiful on the inside?"

For the Serious Student
I've now read my share of psychic "How to" books, but this one takes the cake. This book tells teaches more than how to be psychic, but also where it all comes from, psychology and philosophy, it also combinds scientific facts and experiments to prove psychic existance, thus, giving you a broader aspect of the psychic phenomenon. For those who have finished your beginner books, and want something more in depth and fullfilling, this is the book. After reading this book, I had to order more Edgar Cayce books! Happy reading!

AMAZING
Ok amazing is kinda a strong word, but as far as understanding goes, this book is awesome. I mean it has everything that you would think to ask and I have read alot of books, but I HIGHLY recommend this one to be your first and I am a pretty tough critic.

Excellent introduction to metaphysics
This is an excellent introduction to the psychic dimension and metaphysics in general.
In part one, the author explores some universal concepts that serve to explain the nature of reality and how psychic awareness is a natural part of that reality. The work of Fritjof Capra, Gary Zukav, Lawrence LeShan, Rupert Sheldrake and Carl Jung is referred to in these chapters and it makes interesting reading.
Part two discusses some of the more common psychic experiences and how to evoke them - through intuition, dreams, meditation and hypnosis. I found the chapters on dreams and dreaming the most interesting. When we dream, our vibrational pattern shifts and we tune to a different spectrum of reality. And if you want to become psychic in a graceful manner, you must allow it to grow out of the practice of meditation.
Part three probes the role of the body, mind and soul in psychic awareness. It discusses the hologram, morphogenetic fields, the conscious, subconscious, superconscious and infinite mind. It also includes a "second verse" to the children's bedtime prayer "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep" in these words received in trance:
"I thy child forever play, about thy knees at close of day, within thy arms I now shall creep, and learn thy wisdom while I sleep."
Part four provides some experiments for the reader that wishes to venture into this exciting realm, and discusses the ultimate purpose of psychic awareness. It includes planning, dream recording, using a pendulum, mental telepathy, open channelling and cultivating one's spirituality. The book concludes with a discussion of psychic awareness as harbinger of global changes, followed by a bibliography and index.
This is a highly impressive text, dealing with all the relevant aspects of the psychic realm and how to cultivate one's psychic powers. The style is engaging throughout and easy to understand. I highly recommend it as a sensible guide to those who are interested in metaphysics but confused by the large number of disciplines and books available.

The Chakra Meditation : Morning and Evening Meditations to Open and Balance Your Chakras

Great Results
My wife encouraged me to try the Chakra Meditation because I have been experiencing a lot of stress from my career. I was a bit skeptical that this would help, but am convinced by the results. I have been using it for a few weeks and I am sleeping much better and facing the day ahead with less anxiety. I find myself to be calmer and clearer in my thinking, and even my body feels more energized. I never meditated before until I used this cd, but my wife has for many years, and we both love it! Thanks Aretta Swanson!

a former skeptic
I have been experiencing a lot of stress with my work and my wife encouraged me to try Aretta's meditation. I was a bit skeptical about using meditation to relieve stress, but have found the results to be convincing. "The Chakra Meditation" has helped me to sleep better at night, and when I use it in the morning, I feel calmer and better equipped to face the day ahead. My wife and I both listen to it while lying in bed and it has worked wonders for us both.

Tranquility
This meditation is very relaxing for me. I have been meditating for a few years and Aretta's Chakra cd really helps me get centered when I'm feeling restless or out of balance. When I listen to the evening meditation I find myself slipping into a deep state of meditation before we even get to the third chakra. Aretta has a very beautiful and healing voice... I can feel her energy and love in the meditation.

Jen-X: Jenny McCarthy's Open Book

Amazon base price: $19.95

This book will chat your ear off, one gal pal to another. Arranged like a high-spirited scrapbook of quips and rapidly dispensed disclosures, Jen-X is somewhat of a surprise. In this completely entertaining tell-all, Jenny McCarthy has indeed packaged herself as an open book. This is a tale enamored neither by ambition or success; it's a BH/AH memoir--before and after Hollywood--sometimes raucous, sometimes coolly self-assessing. It's loaded with brash magazine and MTV-style graphics, cute pictures raided from the family album, and zany cartoons of friends, freaks, and phobias.

Jenny McCarthy tells you about growing up on the South Side of Chicago, about dropping out of college, about her breast implants at the age of 18 ("I mean, isn't that the American dream? To purchase fine new breasts on credit?"). Her advice on dating ("Rule #1: Fart immediately") is nothing if not empirical; her lessons learned as a Playboy Bunny, candid without being self-pitying. She talks about her life with comic grit: "Instead of becoming a campus honey, I was a bratwurst queen who sold sausage sandwiches for minimum wage over the counter at a Polish delicatessen in the same neighborhood where I grew up as a friendless geek. At nineteen, I'd already been turned down by every modeling agency in Chicago...." If McCarthy weren't a celebrity, Jen-X would still be worth reading. It's pop culture chronicled through the eyes of a Gen-Xer--fresh, self-deprecating, and silly, like a fun-house mirror.

Average review score:

Greatest book i've ever read
It tells us secrets about Jenny never evealed before. It's a little costly but well worth it.

Great book, with lots of detail.
I found the book to be a great information resource into her life and career start. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the out of order details, found to much jumping forward then back, or back then forward, but other than that, I thought is was a great book and I still love jenny in a big way, she is the greatest.

Silly Book
The title should tell it all: Jen X. It should read Jen O because she is a negative interger. Take away those breasts, and she is just another annoying self serving celebrity with little talent. This book is a must read for airheads, retards, mutants and crackheads. Enjoy!

THE BEST book on full time RVing written to date
This book is written with a lot of first hand knowledge of all areas of living full time in an RV. It is also written for and by average people who do not have an unlimited income and therefore must keep an eye on the most efficient means to an end. They not only "talk the talk" but have "walked the walk" I have given away two other recent books on this subject, but I won't part with this one.

Very informative and easy to understand.
I am preparing to buy an RV in a couple of years when I retire. I found this book very easy to read and comprehensive. I also bought the authors other book "RV Basic" and found the the books compliment each other very well. Books are filled with lots of common sence advice.

Useful and pleasant to read.
I really liked this book. It doesn't get so full of jargon it's unreadable- a problem with some similar books I've read. It explains RVing clearly to beginners like me but it also goes into technical detail for the more advanced. Just an all around useful book to have.

How To Open Locks With Improvised Tools: Practical, Non-Destructive Ways Of Getting Back Into Just About Everything When You Lose Your Keys (formerly published as Lock Bypass Methods)
Published in Paperback by Level Four Publications, Inc. (28 October, 2001)
Author: Hans Conkel
Amazon base price: $16.95
Average review score:

Informative book
Even though it is quite a small book, it's one that is highly recommended. Some of the items are obvious, while others are helpful and make you think about your surroundings or for just utilizing cheap alternatives to professional tools that might not be in your bag of tricks. For example, the author says to use a cut out of a clear 2liter bottle for a plug remover to hold the pins & springs, while seeing what is going on through the clear plastic. Neat idea and not obvious to all.

I'm just a novice at picking, but learning quite rapidly. There are exercises to improve your skills.

The only thing bad I can say about the book is the first chapter. Long winded, but basically states the following: 1) picking what you aren't supposed to is illegal and will get you into trouble, 2) don't be egotistical and show off to your friends thinking you can pick anything, and 3) practice practice practice, that's the only way you'll be proficient in lock bypassing & picking.

Lockpicking 301
This book ought to be the third level for someone who is interested in learning how to pick locks though it contains
information which may be useful to anyone. From this book one can learn how to develop and use a number of common items to unlock locks of a variety of sorts whether the lock be on a car or a house. Though I am not a locksmith, I have been practicing lockpicking for some time because somebody always forgets the keys. Conkel's book contains a number of ideas which will open locks easily which had never occurred to me.

Top Notch, In-Depth, Very Informative
Let's face it. Sometimes you dont have an entire van full of specialized locksmithing tools handy. But that doesn't change the fact that you need to get in right now. That's where "How To Open Locks With Improvised Tools" comes in to your rescue.

This small book is jam packed with knowledge conveyed in plain English. From making your own tools our of readily available items to picking or bypassing the most stubborn locks, Conkel's book has it all... right down to the last detail.

There are plenty of books and videos out there that tell you how to open or bypass locks with specialized tools. Anybody can do that. But the true experts can not only use their specialized tools well and with great precision, but they also can accomplish the same task without them.

That's what separates this book from all of it's peers. The others are merely bloated instruction manuals for the use of lockpicks, whereas "How To Open Locks With Improvised Tools" is the bible of an entire trade... neatly condensed into little more than 125 pages.

Very highly recommend.

The Odbc Solution: Open Database Connectivity in Distributed Environments/Book and Disk (McGraw-Hill Series on Computer Communications)
Published in Hardcover by McGraw Hill Text (February, 1995)
Authors: Robert Signore, John Creamer, and Michael O. Stegman
Amazon base price: $50.00
Used price: $27.89
Buy one from zShops for: $78.95
This textbook is designed for use in a college-level computer-science class. As such, The ODBC Solution has the characteristics, both good and bad, of an academic work. On the positive side, this book does a superior job of clearly showing how to open a connection to a database, perform operations upon the database, and close the connection. That is what ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is all about, after all, and any book that communicates the concepts and procedures involved in ODBC database transactions deserves praise. The authors do a fine job of explaining the ins and outs of the various API (application programming interface) calls, as well as SQL (structured query language) statements and the basics of transaction processing. All the relevant source code (in C) appears on the companion diskette.

Negatively, this book covers only the outmoded ODBC 2.0 API, and the authors fail to say much about networked database applications, particularly as they apply to the Internet and intranets. (There's no coverage of three-layer database architecture, for instance.)

Taken as a whole, The ODBC Solution is appropriate if you're brand-new to ODBC; particularly if you need to work with a legacy system that employs ODBC 2.0.

Average review score:

Everything you need, in one handy package
This hardback text is one of the best database API books that I have in my collection. It is well laid-out and it has examples.

This book is laid out in the order statements are used, with the necessary create and destroy statements together. It starts with connecting to the database, moves to statement execution, and rounds out with retrieving your results. There are of course necessary chapters on creating tables and dealing with transactions.

Each ODBC API call is accompanied with a list of appropriate parameters, return values, and errors.

ODBC Database API's are used in layers:

To Setup: Allocate Environment, Allocate Connection, Connect, ...

To Shutdown, reverse everything: ... Disconnect, Deallocate Connection, Deallocate Environment.

The best book on writing ODBC applications
With the ODBC API you are given a whole lot of notes? But how do you combine those notes to write a symphony? This is the only book on the market which really shows you how. It consists of a detailed ODBC reference and highly useful sample code that shows how to take the API calls and make an application out of them.

The calls are grouped in logical sequences, each call is thoroughly described, and then an example of a program that uses that call (and other calls) is given.

The writing is extremely clear. The presentation is excellent. The book is extremely well organized.

It does not assume any prior knowledge of ODBC though it assumes you know how to program C.

C is the only language used in the book. The use of ODBC in other languages such as Visual Basic is not discussed.

Though this book is old; I cannot recommend it too highly. I've used it before and I'll use it again.

About the best you can do outside of the classroom
I had a situation come up where I needed to access an Oracle 7 stored procedure that returned output parameters and no results set. The Microsoft Visual C++ CRecordset classes don't handle that situation very well. The only solution was to drop down into ODBC API calls. I struggled until I found this book. It takes a lot of the mystery out of an extremely complex API. It pretty much rides around in my backpack everywhere I go now!
