Banking on Reform: Political Parties and Central Bank Independence in the Industrial Democracies (Michigan Studies in International Political Economy)
Published in Hardcover by UMP (30 April, 2002)
Author: William T. Bernhard
Amazon base price: $65.00
Used price: $28.00
Average review score:

An Excellent Study
Professor Bernhard has written a lucid yet dense explanation of phenomenon that, while much commented on, remains unexplained: Central Bank Independence. Considering the relationship between legislators, parties and central bank independence, Bernhard inserts politics back into a topic where it was previously neglected.

A valuable contribution to political economy and comparative politics.

In Our Time of Crisis in the US and Around the World
With crisis situations mounting all around us in the US and the world, there's no better time to learn how to handle crisis. Everyday I read about a new event in the papers, whether it be in the Middle East or at home on 9/11. I loved this book because it taught me a lot about crisis and business management. It was also exciting to read as it was written like a mystery novel. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in business management, dealing with everday crises, history, politics, economics, high schools, interesting careers, inventions, saving money, learning about innovative solutions to challenging problems in the real world, or anyone who enjoys a good story!

Finally, a sane look at macroeconomics
After reading Larry Burkett's fantasies ("Coming Economic Earthquake", "Illuminati", and "Thor Conspiracy" to name a few), it was a real joy to read a book written by an individual with knowledge of macroeconomics and not merely a personal financial advisor. Burkett's books are thinly veiled conspiracy tripe and Sherman Smith's book is a well-written and thoroughly informed antedote to Burkett's far right wing conspiracy nonsense. Burkett's predictions have already been proven false, so that is all the more reason to look to a sane approach such as Smith takes. Highly recommended!

Wonderful, unique and tasteful budget solutions!!
I wanted my wedding to be beautiful and classic but also uniquely us. I found this to be very difficult, particularly with the fact that my fiancée and I were paying for our wedding ourselves and were on a limited budget. Cindy's book was full of great ideas that kept a budget in mind. I had a lot of wedding books that I had bought or had been given, and they all pretty much said the same things. However, The Frugal Bride was, thankfully, much different! It had lots of creative and fun ideas and really helped us make our day special.
