Rip-off pamphlet (not a book)
Poor and unethical. This grocery store horoscope size pamphlet tells how to cheat the Dept. stores, too. Must do this every month. Book not recommended. 1/2 star. Hey Northridge, CA... your right around the corner from me!

I Wouldn't Recommend This Pamphlet Even @ Gunpoint
This "book" consisted of only 24 pages, and the pages were off-centered at that. Nonetheless, I have always thought that one should never judge a book by its cover. After reading the pamphlet, I knew that the quality of the pamphlet (or rather, lack therof, was consistant with the content).

I could have easily put together a more informative pamphlet, with better information (e.g., Credit Card companies that actually offer a 20-25 day grace period on Balance Transfers). Now this is the kind of information that I would pay for, and that quite frankly, I thought that I would be getting from this selection.

Best Advice: How to Pay Zero Dollars for this Pamphlet -- Steer Clear Here

Whats the first reviewer talking about.
I read the book and it tells you exactly how to accomplish what the title says. I highly recommend it.

Tom Clancy's Op Center: Balance of Power

Another in the popular series of Op-Center thrillers, Balance of Power sets the stage in Spain, as tensions between various ethnic factions are pushing the country to the brink of disaster.

This audio version is narrated by Jay O. Sanders (JFK, Kiss the Girls) in a rich basso profundo, but the usual Clancyesque intelligence jargon, technospeak, and geopolitical shorthand prove to be more than a mouthful. Sanders does his best to keep pace with the considerable action, but it's a tall order, especially with the added complications of Spanish names, places, and dialogue, which, for him, are obviously in a foreign language.

As the story unfolds, high-level diplomatic and intelligence teams are working overtime to diffuse the crisis when their efforts are shot down by an assassin's bullet. That's when the real trouble begins: "As intelligence chief Bob Herbert had put it before Martha had left Washington, 'This will make the Spanish Civil War look like a brawl.'"

The story features a broad cast of characters, some of which may flirt with stereotype. Despite this drawback, it's interesting to find these relatively obscure politics brought front and center. While this may not be the very best that Op-Center can produce, for die-hard Clancy fans it's another chance to enter the fray. (Running time: 4 hours, 4 cassettes) --George Laney

it is simply a bad book
Since I read 'Clear and present danger' I have been a fan of Tom Clancy's books. Those books are usually well written, with enough details and an interesting line. They usually are believable since the author is able to unite reality and the storyline in the book. Well, this book was not another example of the above. The books reflects a situation in Spain that is just incredible. The author probably does not know anything about Spain, their political system and their military units (a list of those can be found easy in internet) The name of the non-American characters look like taken out from a cheap novel. I might remember the author than for example people have 2 last names. Another important error is the role of Interpol. Finally I would recommend the author that next time he decide to name organizations , streets and other 'details' he ask someone that: 1- Know Spanish (so he do not make those gross grammar mistakes) 2- Know Spain (so he do not make errors about politics, names and life). My conclusion about this book is that it look more like FANTASY than fictions. The storyline is not credible and it has too many mistakes that may offend an Spaniard (Spaniard = citizen from Spain) If I may say something more I recommend not to bother buying books from the OP-center and Net-force line since the quality of those is low and keep reading the other books written by Tom Clancy (that are more credible, better written and in general good)

One of the subtler Op-Centers
Op-Center deploys to a fragmenting modern Spain and attempts to defuse a crisis by eleiminating a would-be dictator. Excellent characters and sparkling dialog. Most impressive to me is the writing -- fast-faced, yes, but with fine subtlety and deep human understanding. A good thriller, but a novel of impressive depths.
I found it increasingly intriguing as I went along.

Op-Center books just keep getting better and better. Although like most Op-Center reads this starts off somewhat slow at the beginning but then when you get about halfway through it is wayn too hard to put this book down. This book has a excellent story line also. I hope Op-Center never stops.

Earth in the Balance

Balancing Bull [...]
In a dry, long-winded manner, Senator Al Gore pieces together a marvel of exageration and fascination. He uses excessive details and extreme data to support a couple of theoretical, unproven ideas. He has good intentions, fully aware of the need to both inform and change public opinion concerning the environment, but he portrays his views in a dark, negative, and pesimistic way. However, no one can accuse Gore of lacking ample support for his point of view. He frequently uses long, abstract metaphors to make simple assertions seem complicated. His intent should be commended, however his writing should be banned.
