A moving tribute to a special life and a victorious death
It is impossible to read this book without touching, and being touched by the heart of Kathi Johnson. It is also impossible to read it without having your heart touched by the Jesus whom she served.

Kathi's mother, Margaret Johnson, has bared her soul in this scathing, loving, hurting, praising story of her daughter's stormy life and tragic death. This is an unusual story of tragedy turned to triumph, of loathing transformed into love, of despair turned to hope and joy.

It has been 30 years since Kathi was killed. But her story is timeless and her legacy of faith is still being written in Heaven.

Her mother wrote this book for Kathi, but Kathi lived her life for you. To understand what that means, you must read this very special book.

This book is worth your time, I promise
Like others have said it, I say it too because it's true, reading this book makes you feel like you're there, seeing everything happen and actually sharing the same feelings with Margaret. I couldn't have read a more touching story as this one. I highly recommend you all read it because I am SURE you will enjoy it. The whole book is about Kathi's life (Margaret's daughter). Kathi was a very special person and a great great loss to her family and to all who knew her. But in return for Kathi's tragic death so many other people have turned to God and that's what Kathi wanted. Her dream came true. reading this book will surely make you think twice about your relationship with God and will give you the motivation to improve it.
Thank you Kathi for the great examples you have set in your life and thank you Margaret for publishing your daughter's life and sharing it with the world.

Again I recommend this book to everyone, please read it.
God bless you all

Beautiful story about a beautiful person
What an inspiring book for anyone, especially mothers of teens. I could see so much of my relationship with my son as Margaret told how she wanted to draw closer to her daughter--to know her better--but felt like she was driving a wedge between them instead. This is such a beautiful and uplifting story, I recommend it to anyone. Have a box of tissues ready, as tears came to my eyes while still reading the dedication.

Kathi's testimony was a wake-up call to me to rededicate my life to the Lord. What a beautiful person she was! We will never know this side of glory just how many people her life has touched, many of whom she never met. Thank you, Margaret, for sharing this precious person with us.

A book for AP parents
If you support the attachment parenting philosophies of Dr. Sears and Katie Allison Granju, you will love this book. If, however, you're after a book that is a little bit more mainstream, this may not be the book for you and you may wish to stick to a less AP-oriented baby book. This book assumes you will be opting for extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping, and that you will be using the night-time parenting strategies spelled out in the author's other book. If you're not making these particular parenting choices, this book may leave you feeling a bit guilty for the parenting choices you have made.

THE Book for us gentle parents
I just love Elizabeth Pantley's books and this book is no exception.

Have a question about preparing your own baby food? It's in there! Independant play? It's in there! Baby Massage? It's in there!

She also has covered many health issues such as immunizations, febral seizures, and teething, as well as developmental "issues" such as tantrums.

It's just PACKED with wonderful tips that anyone can use. That is, of course if you're interested in the gentle baby style that she's famous for. I have used her tips from previous books with my 4 year old, and she is a wonderful, confident child. This book comes just in time to help me with my 7.5 month baby. I'm learning so many new ideas for being a better, kinder parent. Thanks again, Elizabeth!

Baby Love and Respect
Every parent is different, and what is so wonderful about this
book is that no matter what your parenting style, you can take
the facts outlined and discussed in the book and apply them
to your own parenting style and value system and make your own decision. The author is wonderfully fresh by accepting that all parents are different, and her message is one of love and
respect for babies and the families they are born into. She starts out her first paragraph on every topic with the words:

"Learn about it." It's a helpful and valuable addition to anyone's bookshelf and I think a great shower gift!

What A Great Book
I have read all the books, I think, about women and relationships and nothing made any sense until I read this one. No One Moved Your Cheese is simply the best book for women I have ever read. I have recommended it to all my girlfriends. It gives you the tools and the practical insight into making changes in all aspects of your life. Thank you so much for sharing this book with me.

Every woman must read this book!
This is the book to read. I have never had more clarity in any "self-help" book. The tests are great! Her Power Surge Process has really made a huge difference in my life. Everyday my thoughts are clearer and I don't operate out of confusion. I recommend this book to everyone.

To think it is all so simple
This book really tells it like it is. I had a hard time getting the book away from my boyfriend at first, but once I had my hands on it I couldn't put it down. The Power Surge is something else. My life was in such a state and I was sick of books that made every change so difficult. This is funny, witty, easy to read and even the men want to read it. The information is understandable and helpful. I am recommending it to everyone.

Don't look any further for beggining readers. WONDEFULL
I LOVE these books. I looked everywhere for books to jump start my 5 year old into reading. These are perfect. Almost all the words can be sounded out using the "short" vowel sounds. Untill now every book I found was either too long, or too dificult, or epxected the child to know too many "sight" words and my daughter didn't even want to start. But with the BOB books, she can read a whole book by herself. After working with two of these sets I can truly say she is reading! No need to memorize dozens of sight words before getting started. No understanding complicated "rules". I would recommend these books to all begining readers. They are well worth the money, I wish I found them earlier!

This is a great series!
Finally beginning books for children who are really just beginning. My three-year-old has known her letter sounds for over a year but suddenly began reading with her introduction to Bob books this month. She is gaining confidence and is surprised that she can read like her older cousins. Her six-year-old cousin is also excited about reading since she borrowed our Bob books two months ago. One word of caution, clever children will quickly memorize the story line that goes with the simple pictures and may tell you the story without reading the words. It was helpful for us to break the words down letter by letter on index cards before attempting our first Bob book.

THE BEST THERE IS FOR BEGINNING READERS
I bought lots of phonics books for my pre-schooler, and these were the WINNERS! I recommend them to all my friends with young children and agree with the other reviewers who say these books are "IT!" You will be glad you bought them!

No Wonder They Call Him Savior

great devotional material
I read this book straight through and enjoyed it, but I think it would be more effective if read as a devotional. Lucado has moving insight into Christ's passion and the story of the crucifixion. He shares vivid tales from his ministry and personal life in examining a range of angles to probe into the real meaning and significance of this story. Some part of this book if not the book overall will make an impact, bringing fresh awareness and appreciation of what Christ's sacrifice means for the believer.

What Really Matters?
"Any serious study of the Christian claim is, at its essence, a study of the cross. To accept or reject Christ without careful examination of Calvary is like deciding on a car without looking at the engine."

As "pain pervades the dusty planet," we can at times wonder how our suffering can better us as human beings. We feel alone roaming down here while God seems far above, safe in his heavenly paradise.

This is where Jesus Christ appears. In his suffering, we can see God at his most human. When the consistency of life IS inconsistency, there is someone who understands.

Jesus died for people instead of taking revenge. He didn't retaliate even when he was facing death. He takes our sin on his shoulders and becomes the "death slayer."

Max Lucado is really writing to people who have broken hearts and who can find a lonely person simply by looking in the mirror. The land of promise is for those who endure the pain and suffering and are reborn.

I loved the story he tells about the puppy and how he explains guilt and forgiveness. He brings a human element to spiritual concepts. He also explains how we can't get rid of guilt ourselves, we really do need a savior.

A beautiful look at Christ, the Cross and why we need God.

No Wonder Such A Wonderful Book
Is it ever a wonder that Max Lucado is truly anointed by the Lord to touch your heart? In 'No Wonder They Call Him the Savior: Chronicles from the Cross', Lucado gets to the heart of the matter. Even to his Irish friend, Ian who had been there and done that. Tired of religion and theology. When everything else seems empty. What really mattered? He wanted treasure. The answer: The Cross.

As it is written, from Paul in I Corithians, chapter 15.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures....

From the Cross comes Words spoken in the Lord's final acts. The words come from Luke, chapter 23. He spoke to all of us through time. He saw each one of us. From His suffering, His pain and His shame to our sickness, our sin and our doubt. His cry, "Father, forgive them." [Luke 23:34] was enough. To all the Bernhard Goetz's who lash out in anger for injustice. There is justice. To the criminal who died on the Cross next to the Savior there is hope. For those finding a way out there is pardon and forgiveness. To the solider or missionary who leaves loved ones behind. For Love is built NOT on passion and romance but on mission and sacrifice. That eternity is closer than any Good-bye, but in reality 'see you soon.' To all the Judith Bucknell's who cry in loneliness. He reached out from the Cross to your lonely heart. It was Jesus in his hour of abandonment, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' [Matthew 27:46]. When no one else loves you. He is going to love you. He always has. He was fulfilling prophecy. When you're tired and thrist. He knows that, too. God became flesh and dwelt with us to know everything we have ever done with compassion He carried it with Him to the Cross.

The witnesses who were there and saw the miracle of salvation. Even those who ran away. There was a great price paid. He sacrified His life. We all know what had happened that day. The message is in our tears. No education, maturity or religion can separate us from His passion. From the Cross' wisdom comes the open arms of undying Love and a place to come home to. Only that wisdom lies NOT as men sees it, but in Faith in the Power of God. The evidence in an empty tomb. So what does really matter to you? I'd say a living God in the flesh, making the most important decision in your life, to spread the news 'in an information age, NOT regeneration.' In Jesus' words, 'Will you tell them?' 'Will you tell them I came back and that I'm coming back again.' Will you?

NOTE: Contains a Study Guide at the end for each chapter for further study plus added notes. To Max, May God continually Bless you as you Bless us with your gift. In the Love of Jesus.

Trixie Belden Rules!!
The vivid descriptions of the original 15 or so Trixie Belden books make you feel as though you're following right behind Trixie, Honey and the others as they seek out clues, make discoveries, and shiver in dangerous situations. Unlike sleuths in other mystery series, Trixie has just enough faults to be realistic, and is someone you would love to have as a friend. These books should be re-released for today's youth to enjoy. I'm 37 and still read them again and again, having been lucky enough to stumble across a full set of the original, cellophane-covered volumes for $2.00 per book in a used bookstore!!

Trixie Belden and the Gatehouse Mystery
I also read these books as a child and agree that they are engrossing and wonderful for a child to read. These books are hard to find since they are out of print now, but I have been lucky enough to purchase some, and my daughter loves them. What a great read. If you have kids, a great book for any pre-teen girl is the Belden series, or the Donna Parker series.

AMAZING
I luv Trixie Belden books. I started reading them when i was bored and now i read them all the time!! lol! Well anyway, trixie was gonna be bored all summer w/ out her older brothers. then some rich guy moves in next door and has a daughter. She and trixie become the best of friends. Then they find a runaway kid. And it gets way more interesting. so u better go and read what happens next!

A good, very basic primer
The author goes to a lot of trouble explaining that "there are no electrons," pointing out that the current scientific models we use to explain electricity are flawed and incomplete at best. I appreciate this, but I guess I was hoping for some better theories. Amdahl likes to shout that the emperor has no clothes, but Amdahl has no clothes to give. Instead, the author is forced at times to pause from his comic book rendition of analogies in order to present a traditional basic primer. Actually, Amdahl's zany analogue of "greenies" serves the useful purpose of illustrating just how arbitrary scientific theories can be, and it is good to keep this in mind whether a theory purports to explain electricity or anything else. Think of this as a Dummies book with more text devoted to humor than to hard information.

Seeing electricity from the perspective of the electrons
Computers, in 2003, have combined many features of low-level electronics, radio, basic electricity, and electromagnetism. Understanding what's inside the box, and even many of the system components that come with a new computer, depends on having some sort of knowledge of things like transistors and capacitors. What's the difference between SRAM and SDRAM, DDR-SDRAM, and RDRAM?

Until recently, I thought electricity "flowed" from positive to negative. When I learned it was the opposite, I wondered about everything else I'd learned. This book is one of the few outside of histories of Nikla Tesla that really speaks to the foundation of our knowledge of electricity. Using an ongoing model where electrons are "greenies," Amdahl creates a combination of science-fiction, and swords and sorcery to lead us into the microcosmic world of particle physics, magnetism, and how the two intertwine.

I thought it was a great book, easy to read, and filled with humor. Sometimes the humor had so many twists and turns it became fairly insane; but how often does a science textbook ever really capture our imagination as "just a plain book to read?"

There are lots of highly complicated books about electricity, but few of them define the fundamental concepts in such a way as to make them memorable. Amdahl's book reminds me of the "For Dummies" series of computer books, particularly the early ones. Many times he mentions technical jargon or certain formulas, but then goes on to tell us not to worry about learning them. Oddly enough, by the end of the book, you've learned them anyway.

There are no other books to teach a beginner about electrons
Oops did I say electrons I meant Greenies. Want to know what a Greenie is? Well a Greenie is a brilliant teaching method used in this book by a very gifted author. It doesn't stop there though. This book is like reading a script for a really good episode of "X-Files", but the whole time you are learning about electronics. If you want to start learning electronics, let Kenn Amdahl be your Yoda. However, the book may scare you out of ever fishing again ;).

Ranger School, No Excuse Leadership

Finally! Real insight into THE school
Holy cow! I attended Airborne School at Ft. Benning, GA, back in May of this year. There was a lot of downtime, so I decided to pick up something to read at the PX. Since all we ever hear about in the Army is how cool Rangers are, I decided to pick up this book for some entertainment. A couple of Rangers I know personally try to convey how hard Ranger School is, but aren't very convincing.

Well, this book WILL convince you how hard it is. It's a series of personal accounts from different guys who made it through the Army's premier leadership school. One thing is certain: there is NO way I'm ever going to this school now, because I want to keep all my body parts, thank you very much! One student experiecnes the death of four classmates, another student permanently loses feeling in his big toe, and so on.

As a special treat, Colonel "Tex" Turner writes the final installment in this book. Anyone familiar with West Point will really enjoy Tex's story.

But this book is more than just personal anecdotes; as these tales are told, the Rangers explain the lessons they learned and how Ranger School helped them become better leaders in the Army and in civilian life in general.

I must've read this book about seventy or eighty times sitting on my stuffy bunk at Ft. Benning. If you really want to know what Ranger School is like, this is the ONLY book in town!

The only downside is that, well...these ARE Rangers writing these accounts, not necessarily the smartest of fellows. The grammar is kind of tough to deal with if you're a real stickler for English. But so what?

Works For Me
This book was really eye-opening. Everyone should know just how fully dedicated our American servicemen (and women!) are. As someone who has not gone through Ranger School, but find it fascinating to read about {sure glad I never had to try and do it), .... First of all, I do agree that there are good reasons of American principle and character for Ranger School. And, second, as an Army football fan, I actually did get the book "West Point", by Norman Thomas Remick... when I was down there for a game. And, I agree, it does compliment "Ranger School, No Excuse Leadership" perfectly. It worked for me!

Excellent Book!
I am planning on going through Ranger School next year. To kind of prepare (though you can't really prepare for it) I have been doing and extreme amount of PT. I have also been gathering as much material as I can read so I can toughen myself mentally as well as physically. This book is by far one of the best I have read!

I have not gone through Ranger School but the detail in which these Rangers describe their experience makes you feel as though you are an RI (without the yelling) watching these Rangers progress from phase to phase. You can almost feel the elements they are exposed to...the snow, the endless rain, the massive heat, no sleep, no food. You can almost hear the firing of guns, the helicopters, the rivers roaring and anything else they experienced during Ranger School.

As if that wasn't enough the way they have applied what they learned to everyday life is incredible. They live life as though they were in Ranger School everyday. Sure you get to eat and sleep, but they are always pushing their limits further than anyone can ever dream. They know nothing but themselves can hold them back. They have the confidence in themselves to continue on when times are good and when times are rough.
I dream for the day when I proudly wear that tab!

Sackett's Land (Sacketts, No 1)

Fascinating first book in the Sacketts' collection.
This book in many ways is a historical novel with all sorts of interesting details about London and England during the period of time when pirates ruled the sea and before Jamestown was settled in the New World. L'Amour has made this book fascinating from the first page and I recommend a reading on the weekend since you will not be able to put the book down. L'Amour establishes the beginnings of the Sacketts in this first book about the clan. You will feel like you are in London and in England's countryside as Barnabas fends off one enemy after another. Warning: If you read this book, you will have to read the rest of the Sacketts' books

Wow! What a beginning!
This is my second L'Amour book. After reading The Daybreakers(also a Sackett Family novel), I realized I wanted to go back to the beginning and read about this truly great family. I can't wait to get started on Sackett #2!! L'Amour's writing is so great that it takes him less than 200 pages to weave this magical tale that would take a lesser author over 300 pages to complete. Bravo!

Possibly the best of the Sackett tales!
Barnabas Sackett has grit and he has the ability to draw to him men of like mind and substance. He is a master of weapons and often has need of his talent. This tale spans both sides of the Atlantic and even places the hero in one situation at the Globe Theatre in England. But, alas, trouble finds him before he is allowed to see young Shakespeare's latest play!

I especially love this and the following book in the Sackett series, "To the Far Blue Mountains".

For more historical fiction that spans the lands of Europe and Russia in the 12th Century, read "The Walking Drum". It has much the same feel as this and other early Sackett novels.

The Party (Final Friends Books , No 1)

Author: Christopher Pike
Amazon base price: $3.99
Used price: $1.99

This book was thrilling!
I have read the first book of the Final Friends trilogy (The Party) and it was brilliant. I can't wait until I read the other two in the series. It is awful not knowing who the killer is but I think Christopher Pike writes his books really well. I would recommend this book who likes mystery, horror and suspense. The charachters were very well portrayed, Micheal, Nick and Jessica were my favourite charachters. Polly was cool too and I liked Sara although she was cruel to Polly. Overall I really enjoyed it!

This one wild ride of a book
I read these books a while back. I loved them. This books literally grabs your attention and holds your attention untill you finish them and are crying for more. The set of Final Friends that I read were my library's, they don't have them anymore. When I found out they were lost I got so ticked off. I'm planning on buying them from a used books store near where I live. If you ever see all three of them, even if there is only one GET IT. It will be worth it believe me. They are the best set of Pike books I've ever read.
I loved every single character in this book. It's a great plot and soo funny too. I love every bit of these books soo much. You have to buy it you will not regret it.

Other great Pike books are Last Vampire 1-6, I'll see you later, Last Act and The two chain letter books
