The Humanity of Doctors
I could hardly put this book down until I was finished with it. It was not just eye-opening about how some of the ethical choices in medicine must be made, including the all-too necessary financial considerations. It showed how human doctors are and how difficult it can be for them to have to make heart-wrenching decisions in which there is no right answer, especially when it is clear that, no matter which choice they make, there is not going to be a good outcome for the patient. In spite of their training and attempt to insulate themselves emotionally from their cases in order to remain objective and professional, it's not always possible. Ms. Belkin's descriptions of doctors in tears was very moving, and proved to me that those people chose the right profession, because they really do care about their patients.
I found, by searching for them on the AMA web site, that a lot of the doctors in this book are still in practice in Houston (one is in Albuquerque). This search gave absolute credence to the fact that these stories are not fiction but about real people.

A Jerky look into the TRUE CARE of the Modern Hospital
This book will keep your interests suspended in a state where bed time no longer matters, reading it until it is done and the re-skimming the chapters. Based in my home town of HOUSTON, TX. It gives you perspective on the true heros of the health care system.

This book has confirmed my interests in becoming a doctor and it will serve as a symbol of my ability to serve and my longing to be the best in the field of my choice.

Thank you Lisa, for being fair
Having a child featured in this book, I have read it several times. Lisa did a fantastic job when she wrote this book. You will find it to be a very insightful book. Having lived through this ordeal myself, I know that Lisa tried very hard to make sure that her facts are real and accurate. If you enjoy stories about the medical field I trully believe that you will find this one hard to put down until you have finished it.

Electrifying
You know you've read a GREAT book when almost 7 years later, you remember the whole thing and where you were when you read it.
Green days is the book, not just for Caribbean born folks ( I am one!) but for any one who have love and lost and loved again. It desires to be bought.

A MUST READ!
The characters were very universal. Even though I am a trinidadian woman and can relate to the story better than most, it is still a book that every one should read. The main character was the type of young man that you just wanted something good to happen for him. He possessed alot of the characteristics of human nature. He wants a young woman, then he doesn't want her then he does again, then you're not sure what he wants. Life is like that. This story is the perfect theme of innocence to experience.

The best Book I have ever read!
I just love Green Days By The River. All my friends at school love the book also we read it in Literature class. and in our end of year we get a Test on this Book and others. I love the book I am only just so sorry that shell could not have married Joan.In english Class I got an assignment to write on wheter Mr.Gidharee was trying to lure Shell into a trap. What do you think if you figure something please e-mail me at nhs@cwjamaica.com please! It is to be brought in tommorrow morning. And tell me your reviews also.

An amazing book taught by an amazing teacher!
My AP American History teacher in Miami took the rest of the time after the AP exam to teach us this book. The analysis by Haga on bureaucracy and the evil of breakloops is great. The humor is worthwhile and i look at the world in a completely different light. This year was this teacher's last teaching year. She is now retired and will no longer take time to teach this amazing book. Another reviewer above has also written about her, she is amazing. From all of your students at Dr. Michael Krop High School in Miami WE LOVE YOU MRS. GIBBS!!!

HAGA'S LAW
I read this book while a graduate student of Dr. James Haga's at Monterey CA in 1979. While tongue-in-cheek, the book is an amazingly accurate analysis of bureaucracy. As a 26 year alumnus of the US Navy and 6 year employee at the Pentagon, I consider myself an expert on bureaucracy, and I have never found a flaw in Dr. Haga's thesis. Jim Haga is a remarkable professor in management. Reading his book is the next best thing to experiencing him in the classroom. You'll love it. And that's just a fact.

THE social life changing book!
My A.P. history teacher in highschool down in Miami took a month off of the curriculim to teach out of this book. It changed my life and how I interact with soical groups and indiviudals. Since I left highschool in 98 I was never able to obtain a copy of this book. Until now. I owe my success at college to this book. IF YOU ARE READING THIS THAN YOU MUST PURCHASE THIS BOOK! DO NOT HESITATE.THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman's Poems, Poetry & Essays

Graham: A poet takes no prisoners
With a riveting title as Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman's Poems, one expects, and is rewarded, in a most visceral way, with a collection of poems and essays, that is actually a series of pulse marks of the human pen (Graham herself). I would have not seen this book if not become aware of it in the New York Times Book section and ordered it immediately. Glad I did.

You don't have to like poetry to 'get' this book -You just have to be drawn to pure vibracy, a rich but spare literacy, and celebrate the sheer gusto and spirit that leaps forth from every page. Graham eloquently speaks for herself but scads of "Tidal women" (read this poem first!) in this volume of poetry that choregraphs in prose, life passages: the good and the bad, the real and the ironic - it is all grist for the author's mill. Graham emerges in a multi faceted way and her poems, while at once her unique voice, are shades of Every woman (well every woman with unharnassed spirit and an succinct world view) - and every woman, nay anyone who ever ended up at the wall and back, will appreciate her unflinching stare at herself and own foibles/defeats and victories, and the world beyond. Divine and damned - it is all documented in Hell Hath No Fury, once and clearly, leaving the reader in a that certain stillness that comes whenever truth is uttered.

Best Poem Book Ever written
January 16, 2003

Dear Ms. Graham, I believe this is the best Poem book I have read in my sixty six years of life. Bless you and Thank you for making my day one of happiness and a new understanding of life. What could have been a day of boredom and work became one of inspiration. To my dismay I couldnÕt put the book down. After reading a couple of poems I almost wept with the understanding of how you must have felt and how Julie M must have felt with what she felt the intrusion of her privacy was. ÒWoe Unto You LawyersÓ was indeed refreshing to say the least. I wanted to shout ÒGo Kathy Go.Ó Reading ÒIn re Humanity, An Essay On Appeal To GodÓ was wonderful and refreshing. I loved Pauls words in the Poem ÒThe Best AdviceÓ I shall remember his quote forever in my own life.

Thank You, Patricia Mischell

The Best Poem Book I have read in Many years
January 11, 2003

To the Author,

I just finished reading the entire book Hell Hath No Fury Like A WomanÕs Poems. To my dismay I couldnÕt put the book down. After reading a couple of poems I then moved on to the reading of ÒDoing Her FeetÓ and almost wept with the understanding of how you must have felt and how Julie M must have felt with what she felt the intrusion of her privacy was. Only, knowing myself and not liking people to see me in my most vulnerable times of my life. Yet, the words rung deep within me and I thank you for them.

I, too, have experienced some terrible experiences with Attorneys, so moving on to read ÒWoe Unto You LawyersÓ was indeed refreshing to say the least. I wanted to shout ÒGo Kathy GoÓ

Reading ÒIn re Humanity, An Essay On Appeal To GodÓ was wonderful refreshing. I, too, was shouting right along with you, STAND UP! STAND UP! CANÕT YOU STAND UP FOR THEM?Ó

I then began reading from the beginning to the end of the book and loved each and every poem. ÒThe Best AdviceÓ In memory of Paul E. Graham, Esq. I read the words and could reach inside of you at the age of twenty-six and feel your pain. What a wonderful quote to remember from Paul ÒWhen you are almost blind with fear, Find a table. Any table. Anywhere. And Just -- Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.Ó I shall remember this quote forever in my life too. Thank you Paul!

Dear Ms. Graham, I believe this is the best Poem book I have read in my sixty six years of life. Bless you and Thank you for making my day one of happiness and a new understanding of life. What could have been a day of boredom and work became one of inspiration.

Thank You, Patricia Mischell

What a nicely done series
My son Joseph loves all the books in this series. Any boy that loves Thomas the Tank will! They are easy to handle for small boys. The pages are durable.

Same good stories, easy to carry around format
As every parent of a Thomas Fan knows, these books would better be durable and easy to carry. This book is an excellent combination of both. The four original stories are accompanied by the original illustrations, and put together in a durable hardcover, easy to carry format.

Just Lovely for Train Lovers
When my 3-yr old takes an interest in something, it usually becomes an all-out obsession: dinosaurs, construction vehicles, space and so it continues with Thomas the Tank Engine. We've read other books and rented videos, but these books (there are four in this series) are his beloved. The stories are simple and plentiful with a bit of a moral to them, without being pretentious or zealous. The writing style is delightful: adult enough not to bore the reader and yet perfectly understandable for the listener (assuming it's a child!). The pictures are clear but not movie or television tie-ins - it makes them more lovable! The books are small and my son loves to stack them and carry them around with him.

If your child loves Thomas and you're tired of media tie-ins, these books are for you!

Great Scott!! Great stuff!!!
I love this cd! This cat wails on so many levels!! It's hard to find his other cd's but I'm told there's 7. If anybody has a line on getting more let me know. The middle part on For Now, Forever is like a masterpiece. A billion layers of coolness. Seems to me YES-like almost but like something I never heard. This cd is one of my prize collections.

Got it, like it.
I found this sight doing a Keaggy search, like what I read and bought FOR NOW, FOREVER. Very good. Most good. That kid can play nice. I really like this cd.

This guy is the best kept secret in America!!
First time I saw Mike play he was doing total bebop jazz in New York City. When I spoke to him after the show I was amazed at his humility and when I asked him about his unbelievable guitar abilities he shrugged it off to "a gift from God." This guy HAS practiced a lot! He can play the most deceptively difficult runs and wide spaced chords I have ever heard in my life. Oh, no wonder!! He grew up with and is still great friends with Phil Keaggy!! But I bet when they were growing up, Mike showed Phil a few licks too!

The For Now, Forever cd is awesome. It is in a pop rock to jammin' rock vein. And there are some way cool extended jams! SO many different colours and textures and then there's Mike's guitar tone! Sometimes you think you hear Eric Johnson sometimes you wonder, "hey? Who's that!?" It's so purfect on every track. And his singing is reminiscent of McCartney at his best. And yes there's no doubt, Mike loves Jesus.

Everbody I play this cd for loves it. I bought Tube Driven also and that is good in a whole nuther ball park. Why Mike Pachelli is not a household name is beyond my imagination? Check him out. You'll be a believer too!

From Sabbath to Sunday: A Historical Investigation of the Rise of Sunday Observance in Early Christianity (Biblical Perspectives, No 1)
Published in Paperback by Biblical Perspectives (June, 1987)
Author: Samuele Bacchiocchi
Amazon base price: $20.00
Average review score:

Could encourage credibility
The Christian community could gain tons of milage in the area of credibility if it would only take a serious look at the issue of the sabbath. We claim to believe in the authority of scripture then toss out all reasonable interpretation when it comes to the sabbath. We don't really have anything to lose, G-d won't be offended if we own up to the myths we have created about Sunday being something special. It's time for truth. You don't have to fall into seventh day adventism to appreciate the truth this author brings. Anyone with a heart for knowing the will of G-d should at least read this book...

Great History of the Early Sabbath Controversy
Dr. Bacchiochi does an excellent job of piecing together the history of the Early Church and the change from Saturday as the Sabbath to Sunday.

Some have called the second century of church history the lost or dark century. Bacchiochi's information is a discovery for he sheds light on that dark century for the first time in one book.

His quotes include Early Church Fathers and, most importantly, documents that are still stored in the Vatican archives and library.

This book is a bit of a difficult read at times, but be patient. Add this to your history of the Sabbath research. It will open up new avenues for your understanding as to how the church changed over the centuries and will give Sabbath keepers more information to support their claim of Sabbath keeping.

Simple Truth
Back to the basics. Simple, succinct and easy to understand...if one keeps an open mind and leaves out the garbage ingested by the teachings of tradition...one will come to the same conclusion as the author. YHVH never changed the Sabbath. It is a Genesis appointed sanctified and set apart Sabbath of YHVH. Yahushua kept the Sabbath -- and as can be seen here in this book, it was not YHVH but man who changed the day to *sun*day. Highly recommended.

Great laughs, great frights
Pretty much proving why you should never take graverobbing jobs from strangers you meet in coffee shops, Graverobbers Wanted is an excellent read. It's not the first to equally combine comedy and horror but it may be the best at it. It seamlessly transitions between hilarity and terror, sometimes in the space of a paragraph. The protagonist, Andrew Mayhem, is written so well that even when he's making the wrong choices -- and he almost always does -- you still want to root for him. Strand's real strength is in his dialogue, which is a delight to read. Graverobbers Wanted: No Experience Necessary is a great choice for those looking for something with a bit of a bite to it.

I couldn't put the book down
This is one of those books that captures your attention from the very beginning and holds it until the end. I highly recommend this book .... especially if you're a Stephen King or Dean Kontz fan. Once you read Graverobbers, Jeff Strand will surely rise to the top of your list of favorite horror mystery authors.
