Max does it again
A cute story about kids and shopping...and the things that can go wrong! Includes pages that you can copy so your child can have "bunny money". Very cute.

another good Max and Ruby book
I think this is one of the better Max and Ruby books, along with Bunny Cakes and Bunny Party. Has play money on the end pages that you can photocopy and cut out for your kids to play with. Neat concept and fun to discuss who the "famous rabbits" on the different bills are supposed to be.

Cute Kid's book, Great Math Lesson!!!
Cute! Max and Ruby go shopping for their Grandma's birthday, but are disappointed when their dream gift costs $100. They do not have much money and Max keeps wasting it. (Food, trip to the laundromat, bus fare, etc.) They manage to buy two "great" presents~ from Ruby, singing bluebird earrings, from Max glow in the dark vampire teeth. But their money is all used up. So Grandma picks them up and she wears the gifts all they way home.
It is a math lesson because they show how much money they have before and after the buy. (Like they have eight dollars, they spend two dollars, they have six left.)

Great, honest book I can actually put into practice
One day at work in the break room I came across this book--obviously someone had forgotten it there. I was curious and probably bored so I flipped it open to the middle and immediately devoured a whole chapter. Midnight infomercials on how to change my life and financial situation make my stomach quesy and I feared this was the same kind of book. It's not. It's the story of a woman and the financial disaster she wreaked upon her family. It's also how she escaped it and what she learned. I realised quite simply finances and how to manage them properly were never really taught to me. She provided a great educational service to me in that one chapter. I left the book in the break room, but ever so often I remembered the book and vowed to find it. I only vaguely remembered the title and so could not find it. Then one day it reappeared in the break room and I immediately went out and bought it after I memorized Mary Hunt's name. I am grateful after reading the whole book that I have finally learned some skills that will allow my husband and I to control our money instead of our money controlling us. I will also add that if you want to cut your grocery bill, read Ellie Kay's Shop, Save, and Share. You won't regret reading that small paperback either.

Life Changing Book
I find Mary Hunt's book and on-line monthly newsletter very helpful. I am rereading Debt-Proof Your Marriage and have printed several issues of the newsletter to get "back on track" from where I was after I read it several months ago. When I'm doing what she says, my bank account grows. My relationship with my husband improves, as well!!

Practical, written with humor, and a plan that works!
After buying this book, I could not put it down. Mary Hunt tells her story, lets you see that you are not alone in your money struggles, and then gives you a plan and leads you through it. You do not have to be thousands of dollars in debt to benefit from this book! Anyone finding themselves struggling to meet monthly (or unexpected) expenses without using credit cards will benefit! Mrs. Hunt's plan will help you get out of debt, build a contingency account for an employment or health crisis, and build a freedom account to take care of expenses that occur infrequently or unexpectedly. She will help you prioritize your goals for savings, charitable giving, and living expenses. After reading this book and putting this plan into action, we have peace of mind and are on our way to a secure financial future. I highly recommend this book!!

Great story-telling, great writing
First of all, if you can, consider picking up the audio book version of this novel, by Griot audio. I didn't see it here, so I'm reviewing the PB version.

I met this author at a writer's conference this summer, and she was so friendly and personable (just like her main character) thatI thought I'd pick her book up. I'm not a big mystery reader, but if the author is talented enough, or the characters interesting enough, I grab it up. This one is worth grabbing up. Staletta Duval is an incredible character, an African-American woman (I kept picturing Pam Grier, and if the book were turned into a film, she'd be perfect) who has worked her way up to Detective Liutenent in the homicide division. The book starts off with a bang as a homeless woman is horribly burned alive in St. Francis park. Then a prostitue is killed, and Starletta and her cool Italian partner, who would probably take a bullet for her, start seeing a pattern- the killings seem to be based on a computer game called Vampire's Lair. And guess who secretly plays a lot of the game? Pampered rich kids at the local academy... but there's much more to it than that. The author --who actually has worked for the police-- fleshes out the characters well. When you hate a character, you REALLY hate a character, and when one is likeable, the author knows just how to make us fall in love with them. I also thought I knew just where the book was going, but I was proved wrong several times (I don't read a lot of mystery because I have an annoying habit of guessing the endings). It reads not only as a mystery, but also as a police procedural and crime thriller. Fans of NYPD Blue (and other similar shows) will love the book. I found the storytelling so entertaining and the chacters so likeable that I'm going to pick up the other books in the series-- and read them in order. And if I can get my hands on the audio versions...

The audio book is read by the actor Marc Damon Johnson, who does a tremendous job and is great at voicing different characters-- he does an especially hilarious job with a pimp in St. Francis park in one scene, and a prostitute in two others. The audio version is over ten hours long, but he (and of course, the talented author) made it fly by.

This is a very talented author who created characters I definitely want to spend more time with. Check it out-this series deserves a wider audience!

Brand New to the Genre and Love It!!
Green Money is the first mystery/thriller that I have read and I enjoyed it thoroughly. This was the first time in a long time that everyone in our book club truly enjoyed reading this book. It was just what the doctor ordered. I do however, have one question, can anyone provide any insight on the title of the book? Why is it titled "Green Money". Great Job Judith Smith-Levin.

UP ALL NIGHT!
I have eagerly awaited the release of this book. I'm a big fan of Ms. Smith-Levin's. She could write her name and I'd buy it, because I know whatever she puts on paper is going to totally engulf me as a reader. This is the third book in her Star Duvall series and I'm so hungry for another one that I'm going to go back and start reading from the beginning with Do Not Go Gently. Seems to me writing of this quality and caliber should be front and center on every bestseller list there is. This woman knows how to tell a story. Her characters live and breathe. I think I'm in love with Dr. Mitchell Grant, but Star is the woman for him. This savvy, foxy, smart woman makes me proud to be female. Ms. Smith-Levin gives us someone and something to root for. Here are the cops on display, all the good and all the bad, and you love them. Even the bad guys have personality and depth. No cardboard stereotypes here, every character breathes. Star's life away from the Homicide Squad that she commands is real, with friends, family and that gorgeous doctor Grant. Her world on the job is brutal, but Star and her partner, Dominic Paresi make us feel protected, even in the face of the most horrendous brutality. These are two cops you'd want to see coming, if you were in trouble. On top of the fine writing, Ms. Smith-Levin also opens the window into just what it takes to be a police officer, and to maintain your humanity doing a job that most of us would run from. If you haven't read Ms. Smith-Levin's books, I urge you to do so. She has never disappointed. I only hope there's another Starletta Duvall on the way. I can hardly wait.!

A most needed guide
Sara and I have struggled with financial planning particularly as a result of the recent market turmoil. The Jorgensens' book has served as a much needed guide to managing our money. It emphasizes the basics and is understandable. Unlike other investment books which fail to encompass the whole picture, this book is complete and thorough. We would recommend it to anyone interested in taking a proactive role in managing their money.

This book is a must have!
I read Jim Jorgensen's book and found it very enlightning! It is written so everyone can understand it and can make money by following his nine points to building wealth. The best part about this book is it takes a conservative and sensible view of investing! Anyone can make money by following Jorgensen's advise, no matter how much money you have to invest!!!

Freedom Matters
In Life Matters: Creating a Dynamic Balance of Work, Family, Time, and Money, Rebecca and Roger have linked the resources of time and money. The connections are so self-evident that I am surprised it hasn't been done before. In the case of both resources, we can have a consumption or an investment paradigm. The first leads to being overextended and having no margin in our lives, the latter to freedom. Life Matters is full of practical advice on how to break the downward consumption spiral.

Two years ago I attended a seminar where Roger Merrill spoke on some of the ideas in this book. After that day, I began to shift my thinking. For years I had wanted to live on the Upper West Side in New York City. The question I had been asking myself was, "Would I rather live on the Upper West Side or in a 'boring' neighborhood in Queens"? Well, the Upper West Side won hands down. My husband resisted, saying the higher expenses would be a trap and would virtually chain us to our high-paying, high-pressure jobs. Still, I liked the fancy neighborhood. (Life Matters points out how most spouses have different views on money matters). After listening to Roger I began to ask the question differently. "Would I rather have an apartment on the Upper West Side or freedom"?

By staying in our non-flashy neighborhood, we have been able to make some terrific changes in our lives. My husband quit his job to study cooking and music. I have reduced my time on the road and am now writing a book. If the price of freedom is giving up a little flash, I'm persuaded. Maybe Life Matters will persuade you too.

Life is About Change
For readers committed to lifelong learning, this book is a must. The seven components or chapters, encourage readers to question and to challenge their traditional understanding of these so-called "matters" in order to design a sense of overall well being and purpose. Money can often be traced to the origin of discord in people's lives - The Merrill's chapter on Money Matters is about the best I have seen.

Another Best Personal Development Book Since 7 Habits!
Congratulations to the authors! They had written an excellent, practical, and realistic book on Life Balancing.Probably the best book on life leadership since 7 Habits and First Things First (actually even better than "F£ÔF", since the writing style and selection of ancedotes and examples are even more mature and veteran).

Congratulations to the readers! We have a chance to read an excellent book on personal/family development, well presented in the 7 Habits/Covey's tradition, but in a less wordy, theoretical, and jargons-filled way.

Both authors are very sincere, writing and sharing usefulideas
from their hearts. They talked about Money Matrix, See Do Get Model, and many useful skillsets for balancing.

They didn't just repeat old ideas from First Things First. Instead, they injected a lot of new ideas and useful wisdoms about life into the book. Very unlike Stephen R. Covey, who is very idle in using new materials and new ideas in his so called new books. He is just so repetitive and wordy sometimes that readers can be turned off by his lack of inventiveness in terms of both form and substance in his new books.

Of course, Life Matters also has its weaknesses . It deals with Work, Family, Time, Money, and Wisdom Literature on Life Balancing. But it didn't mention the word, Health in the book even once, or didn't even mention the importance of Spirituality, by which both are essential elements in human life.

Since health is wealth, there will be no Work, Family, Time, Money, Wisdom, or Spirituality, when people fail to prioritize Health in their life.

In an overall sense, this is a great book that I cannot put down. If more personal development books can be written with Life Matter's type of quality, the readers will benefit-- the society will ultimately be benefited.

My sincere thanks and salute to the authors! This book will be a Mega best-seller, just like 7 Habits or First Things First...
Just wait and see!

Financial Guidebook!
My wife and I recently returned from a vacation overseas. Like most tourists, we found our guidebook to be an invaluable resource that helped us to understand the sights we saw. Charles and Lynn understand that most investors are overwhelmed with information that is important to them, but at the same time confusing. First, they reccommend working with a financial advisor to set up a plan. Second, they offer this great book as a "guidebook." The book can be used as a refernce tool that will prove to be an invaluable resource for people that are striving to meet life's most important goals. Thank you Charles and Lynn!!

What do you want from yourself
It's a very straightforward guidebook to encourage you to start to plan for your financial real dreams. A must read and true value add roadmap for your road to wealth!

Plan to be a Millionaire
As an inspiring investor coming out of college, learning about investments is an essential part to planning for my life. I can effectively diversify my portfolio by investing in mutual funds to capture many types of investment vehicles whether they are growth funds, global equity funds, or even precious metals funds. I want stability and growth for my future and Zhang's book really helped me to understand every aspect of the Mutual fund. I have recommended this book to many of my friends graduating college and looking to plan ahead with investments to secure their future. In uncertain times, Charles and Lynn Zhang have helped me to become a knowledgeable and confident investor.

A little disappointing
This book contains some interesting articles about wealth management, but it's nothing I haven't read in magazines and newspapers. Also, a lot of the advice in the book is more relevant to high net worth individuals (people who are likely to be Neuberger Berman's clients) than for ordinary Joes like myself. Try to borrow it from the library - this is definitely not a keeper.

Useful and entertaining - make your money work for you
I'm a big reader of business and personal finance books. Wealthy & Wise fills a niche that no other one book I've seen does. It covers a lot but in a way that's not overwhelming. I liked the idea that each section is written by a specialist in that field since no one can be an expert on all these subjects.

A few of the chapter subjects were beyond my means (though voyeuristically I enjoyed reading some of the advice for the super rich), but the overarching message is advice we should all take to heart - Manage your wealth; don't let it manage you. This isn't a book of corny aphorisms, it's full of practical, useful advice to make your money make you happier and let it add to, not get in the way of, your relationships.

Wealthy and Wise: Secrets About Money
Heidi has compiled a masterpiece. While I have led a very successful career, I often had questions regarding my wealth and how to use it responsibly. This book gives very clear, concise advice on how life should be lived and I will make sure my two sons will read this book before they graduate from school. Thank you Heidi.

Mostly solid advice.
Brock entertains the long-standing notion that hard work and prudent planning lead to eventual success. As a person who considers himself to be non-religious, and a strong advocate that religion is not a necessity to build character and long-term happiness, I never-the-less thoroughly enjoyed reading about his viewpoints on fundamental principles for living.

The one caution that I would offer to readers, is they take his advice on student loans and never-ending abundance, with a grain of salt. Yes, it is advisable to reduce student loans to a minimum. However, taking out a substantial amount of student loans is not necessarily a bad idea. For most individuals (not those in the authors income bracket, or most of the clients that he deals with), it is extremely hard to get through a doctorate program (let alone a bachelor's program at a first tier school), without doing so. In this case, the value of taking out student loans and acquiring further education clearly outweighs the ability to choose a risk-seeking career. After all, it is an extremely small percentage of people who are successful as an entrepreneur, as opposed to those who seek a more stable career, requiring higher education. I have had experience in both and can vouch for the fact that in specific industries, such as financial services, you need to know key people, to be successful. No matter how much the industry tries to reject this notion, it is fact.

To address the second issue, it is fundamentally obvious that the earth's resources are limited, a view that Brock admittedly looks over. Responsibility necessitates conservation.

The book for the most part is fantastic; however, it does offer an extremely Republican viewpoint.

From one Finacial Advisor about another
This is the most complete book on personal financial management ever published, it is just that simple!

There is only one caution I would set forth, successful individuals don't become successful without consulting experts, this book does not replace the guidence an advisor provides but, it is a great starting point for those looking to enhance their knowledge base. I have been known to recommend this book quite frequently to my own clients.

Keep in mind, you don't know what you don't know until someone tells you something you don't know.

I Agree -- A Must Read
Yes, I agree -- this is a "must read" book. It covers many aspects of finance, but realizes that the main aspect is psychological. No, it is not a psychology treatise, but it helps point in the right directions. The author has been in the same position that many of his readers are. Take a look at it.
