Great Ideas
There are great ideas in this book to teach your kids about money. I purchased this book when my oldest daughter was only two years old after watching my teenage nieces and nephews struggle with money management. We follow many of the suggestions in this book and my oldest daughter now 7 is able to manage her money and understands the consequences of spending it all at once. She also learned a very important lesson when a clerk tried to talk her into buying more and putting it on lay-a-way. (She had save 70 Euro (like 84 US dollars) for a doll and the clerk suggested putting it on lay-a-way along with the accessories). I forbid it as this went against the whole idea of "saving." The next week the store went out of business. If she had caved in to her desires she would no longer have her favorite doll! Also after I purchase her initial school clothes, ballet clothes, winter gear etc... she pays for anything else she desires - so if she climbs trees and gets holes in her tights, looses a glove - she pays to replace them. This has been a great stress relief in our relationship - as this little tomboy likes to dress like a princess and ruin her fancy clothes. Now the ball is in her court and she's handling it well.

Practical, straight-forward and a very easy read
Boy was it a relief finally reading a book that was so full of common sense and good advice. I'll definately use this stuff with my 5-year old and 8-year old. I learned stuff too. Wish this had been around earlier -Icould have used this as a primer when I was getting started.

The best advice on winning a scholarship
This book is indispensable. It contains the best advice I have ever read on how to win scholarships. What makes this book so effective is that is has several chapters on how to select a topic and write your own winning essay. Plus, to show you how to put it all together it has 30 examples of essays that won money. This really helps you see how to do it. Besides the essay it also has several chapters on doing the scholarship interview. Rather than just give you a list of questions this book gives you answers to the questions. POWERFUL experience-Give yourself the life you want now!
This book will take you on a 30 day exploration of your life and how you work it. Follow the directions in using the book and you will become aware of patterns and beliefs that run through your life. Liberating new approaches are discovered through this process. An Amazing book-very powerful!

We get to really see how we operate, then get to change it.
The simple, straight-forward approach of Dr. Lane's Money Workbook actually disguises its unusually powerful potential to transform. My initial "I already know this stuff" reaction was soon dissolved in the realization that it's not about "knowing;" it's about experiencing. Dr. Lane's daily exercises (30 in all) guide us through the experience of how we operate in our life, and then allow us to face that truth honestly, decide how we would like our life to be, and take steps to create it that way. This book is a no-nonsense guide that empowers us to create our lives in ways that work for us -- and it's fun, too.

MONEY, MORE MONEY
YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE MONEY AND THIS BOOK EXPLAINS WHY. IT SHOWS A FAMILY WITHOUT MONEY AND HOW THE MONEY WAS STOLEN AND THE EFFECTS THE LACK OF SAID MONEY HAD ON THEM. STAY AWAY FROM MONEY.

awesome crime story book
This book was fabulous! As a piece of fiction in the crime/mean-streets genre, I thought it was remarkable because of how rough and tough the city characters were. The ambiance was well written and the fight scenes were fun to read. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape into the seedy, dirty, underworld of vicious street life in the big city.

A Service to the Profession
This book is excellent. It covers a wide variety of topics and areas of interest, including the theory about finance and development, econometric evidence, and institutional issues. It is a great service to the economic profession and to any one interested in what a growing financial system means to the developing world. Unfortunately, it does not cover the important topic of financial crisis, which is clearly relevant to the developing world today; but it offers a solid and broad look at the arguments and issues of financial development in tranquil circumstances.

Very complete and informative
I began reading this book as a reference for a class and have found it to be very interesting. The class is; "Women and their Art" at the University of Oregon. This book tied directly with my own personal interest of Landscape design and the struggle that Marian Crueger Coffin had to endure. Thank you for putting this all together.

Photographs and plans of historic gardens make this book!
Marian Coffin was trained as landscape architect at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Class of 1904. Since no office would hire her because she was a woman, she hung up her own shingle in New York City and designed landscapes for half a century. The most well known Coffin-designed gardens open to the public are Winterthur, the Henry Francis du Pont Museum and Gardens, Mt. Cuba, also in Wilmington, Delaware, and The King's Garden at Fort Ticonderoga, New York. There are photographs on just about every page in addition to endnotes, bibliography, list of clients, and a detailed index. I'm the author and would love to hear from readers interested in landscape design during the Country Place Era.

While learning to read a child develops a concept of ten cents in every concievable fashion. All the while it entertains a child to the point of giggles.

Great early reader!
My Kindergarten-aged son loves this book. He enjoyed seeing all the different pets that the monsters bought. He also got very good at figuring out how to make 10 cents from different combinations of coins.

It's a joy to read such a vivacious young woman
First off, I like myself better when I read this book. I'm not asked to do anything. This is a self-help book that actually helps. It's loaded with practical ideas to lighten the load of my day-to-day problems. But, more, it is really about improving the quality of my day-to-day life.

Your lifestyle matters less as the quality of your life improves. It's about getting more value out of the times of your life. My time in the bathroom has never been so productive.

Crabby Debbie doesn't live here anymore
I'm one of those insanely busy women that Elizabeth talks about. The thing I liked about this book right off was that she says you should read it on the toilet. She's right! It's the only time I could find to read. But that is changing now. I loved everything she had to say about Christmas. I'm going to make sure that next year I have the kind of Christmas *I* want instead of the kind that the TV tells me to have.

My kids were totally surprised that I stopped nagging them about cleaning their rooms. They know something is very different with Mom, they just don't know what it is! I made Alton Brown's quiche recipe the other night and we sat down at the table and ate together. It was so nice. I had forgotten how great it was to just sit and eat dinner with my family without being in a rush. I could get used to this.

My husband says I'm a lot more cheerful. This book has made the difference for me. All the changes won't happen overnight, but it doesn't matter. I've finally found the way to start heading in the direction I want to go now and that's good enough for me.

Very very good reading
I've read Dave Ramsey's other books and I think this book is worth reeading even if you've already read the others. This one I felt focused a little more on the foundations of character, values, patience, and discipline. It contains the best description of 'diligence' I've ever seen.

Highly recommended for those interested in taking a hard look at not just their debt to income ratio, but also a hard look at themselves and their values.

Life Changing!
This book is life changing. For people with financial wisdom it may be yeah, I know that. But for those of us that missed the lessons not taught on financial management in school or by our parents this book is wonderful. It is an outstanding gift for new college graduates and newlyweds. I love it and have already given it as a gift a half dozen times within a month of completing the book. It helps couples talk about their disconnects on managing the household income in a self mocking way. It also helps eliminate some of the stress around money when you truly recognize it's purpose.

What policing is REALLY all about...
As a future law-enforcement officer, I found this book immensely enlightening and enormously inspiring. Police officers are truly a unique breed, but not in the way most people think. The sensitivity, strength and fortitude evident in this book's character, as well as his struggles, really rings true to what I see will be expected of me when I get a badge pinned on me. All police officers must strive to live at a higher ethical standard than the common "joe", and with that awesome responsability comes enormous emotional challenges most folks rarely face. This book beautifully illustrates this proud-burden that our police must carry. This book is a must read for anyone comtemplating a career in law enforcement!

Don't get caught without it...
The author has captivated many years of personal experience in law enforcement to produce this brilliant, fictional novel that will leave you eagerly anticipating each new chapter. You, the reader, join Brad Phillips, as he experiences daily life as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. You will feel the emotional intensity he endures to successfully get his job done with the utmost of courage, integrity and honesty. But would facing a challenging, criminal world on a daily basis give him reason to compromise all this? This book will keep you riveted to the last word!
