Excellent book! Gotta love this guy!
What a valuable book. Read it cover-to-cover yesterday morning -- called my credit card companies in the afternoon and trust me -- I saved far more than the cost of the book ... including shipping! This book should be required reading for anyone who has credit debt. In fact, I think it should be added to all high school and college curriculums. Excellent purchase plus turned me on to the companion website ...

Taking the stress out of learning about credit!
"I have enjoyed reading it! What I like about "How to be more Credit Card and Debt Smart" is the way it is written is like having a conversation with a friend. Picture it like this, instead of two people but a person and the book sitting at a table with a nice warm mug of Starbucks (that I brewed of
course) and learning about credit issues in a relaxing and easy to remember format."

Hassle Free Analog BioMedical Electronics
The perfect first book on analog electronics for students and practitioners of electro-physiology. A hands-on book. Presents just enough basic theory to accomplish design goals without bogging down in complete analysis. Full of practical advice on lab electronics, grounding problems, etc. Emphasizes op amp circuits and their use. I wish this book were reprinted... the type of advice it gives is still useful in today's digital world.

Best Introduction to Using Op Amps
If you'd like to build simple yet effective circuits, this is the book to get. It assumes you don't know much about electrical engineering and steers you through the principles of designing with op amps. It teaches by presenting "recipe" circuits and discussing why they are put together the way they are, how they can be adjusted and modified, and what pitfalls to expect. The author expects you to read the book, soldering iron in hand.

Table of Contents:

1. A Little Circuit Theory and an Instrument or Two

2. The Op-Amp and How to Make It Work for You

3. Op-Amp Applications for Fun and Profit

4. Biomedical Applications of Op-Amp Circuits

5. The Op-Amp as Analog Computer

6. Op-Amp Problems and How to Fix Them

7. Discrete Devices (If You Must Use Them)

8. Conclusions

Example projects include band-pass filters, phase-shift oscillators, function generators, rigs for measuring skin resistance, radio telemetry and a setup for recording to a cassette recorder. The chapter on biomedical applications includes information on EEG and EKG systems. It considers the use of isolation amplifiers.

The book is sprinkled with cartoons. They're not quite John Callahan, but they produce a chuckle or two. Page 1 is the only published source I've ever seen for the resistor color code mneumonic "Bad Boys Rape Our Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly."

This and 'When to sell' should be required reading
From covering all the thoughts that go through ones heads at the time of pressing the trigger, to all the consequences of these thoughts. Everything is covered in this book.
Then it helps one create a strategy for buying based on facts rather than emotions.

I would recommend this book and When to Sell above most books about trading.

Great series of Books.
I can't say enough about the series of When to Buy, When to Sell, and The Nature of Risk. Ironically, I bought the When to Sell years ago, read it and shelved it. It's pages would have saved me a bundle over the past year. As the worst seems to be behind us, knowing when to get back in is key. Simply written with great examples, make this book a must own.

Best Business Guide to Internet
Vince and other readers, I just ordered *eight more copies* of 'How to Grow Your Business,' to add to the one I already own. I plan on giving one to each member of my staff, because they keep asking me questions that are already answered so clearly in the book. And I will have a couple of copies to give away to friends, just in case. I have seen Vince speak at conferences, and he really knows his stuff. He's low-key, has top-notch integrity, and cares about people. I have not found a more useful book on the subject, nor a nicer, more knowledgeable consultant. He gets my highest recommendation. --Peter Johnson-- Chief Vision Holder, www.GreenJungle.com

Here is my COMPLAINT!
Dear Mr. Emery: I am very sorry to have to register this complaint about your book. I was halfway through reading it when I suddenly realized the book was such a valuable asset that I could no longer keep it in my house. I now keep the book at my bank in a safe deposit box. Unfortunately, this means I can only access the book during banking hours. This is really frustrating because your book is the most fact-filled and comprehensive source of doing business on the Internet I have been able to find (and believe me I've been looking!). Please do not write any more books as I only have a very small safe deposit box (besides the people in the bank are starting to look at me suspiciously because of my frequent visits to the vault). Yours in humor, Andre Demoraes nirvmind@csa.bu.edu

Every aspect of the script writing process under one cover
Now in an updated and revised second edition, Julian Friedmann's How To Make Money Scriptwriting offers the aspiring scriptwriter with a "user friendly" guide to identifying what audiences want and understanding their emotional needs; developing ideas for film and television drama; writing successful treatments and step outlines; pitching ideas and scripts; handling development meetings; negotiating contracts; protecting ideas, treatments and scripts; and establishing copyright. A highly recommended and comprehensive introduction, How To Make Money Scriptwriting is a kind of "how to" course in every aspect of the script writing process under one cover.

Inside track into the real script world
This book has all the agents' secrets and tricks that writers do not usually know. I don't know why Julian Friedmann has given all his insider's knowledge to his competitors, but it is good that he has. He even tells you how to fire your agent and do it yourself!

This Book is a Lifesaver!
Before I bought this book, I was a security guard for 10 years in an affluent Chicago suburb. As you can imagine, this wasn't exactly my dream job, so I searched around and found this great book. After pouring over it for a whole day, I decided to take it's advice. One year later I run my own property insurance video business, and I couldn't be happier. I particularly enjoyed the extensive information on marketing. The best part is that some of my old clients as a security guard are now clients of my new business. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a dream of working for themselves as a videographer.

Buy This Book!
As a recently out of work mom, I was struggling with the idea of starting my own business from home. There are so many gimmicks out there, all of which I wanted to avoid--not to mention the fact that I wanted to put my creative juices to work! Mr. Hutchins' book helped me do just that by offering invaluable advice on how to not only pick the right video business for me, but also how to market and distribute my work. I highly recommend this book to others who are struggling in our sagging economy. If it worked for me, it'll work for you too!

How to Repair Plastic Bodywork: Practical, Money-Saving Techniques for Cars, Motorcycles, Trucks, Atvs, and Snowmobiles

Excellent textbook on repairing plastic
It is refreshing to read a "how-to" book by someone who actually knows what he is talking about. Too many recent automotive "how-to" books are written by inexpert authors who rely on other people's knowledge, and the author's lack of first-hand exerience shows. Kurt Lammon obviously knows his stuff.
Mr. Lammon takes us through all aspects of the repair, assessing whether to repair or replace the part, how to identify the type of plastic, how to choose the most appropriate of five methods of repair, and how to refinish the repaired part. Each repair method is covered in great depth. He includes details only an experienced repairman would know - what grit of abrasive to use, what RPM to use when grinding, what products to use for cleaning, etc. The appendices briefly explain what tools will be needed, the science of how adhesives work, and where to find materials. There is a thorough index so you can find the information you need quickly.
This is a great textbook, but it is not literature. The writing style is factual but dry, the drawings are easy to understand but sterile and cold. This is exactly what a hobbyist or body repairman needs to get the job done. If you want to know how to repair plastic bodywork, buy this book. If you want amusing anecdotes about automobiles, read something by Peter Egan.

Five Stars... what do you expect? It's my book!
I'm sure this review won't be very persuasive being that it's coming from the author. I can assure you, dear prospective reader, that this was no half-hearted effort. I poured a tremendous amount of time and energy into this book; it took me about one year to write the text and develop all of the line art. Kudos to Dan Kennedy and his staff at Whitehorse Press for the editing and layout. They appearance of the book is absolutely first rate, and I'm proud that the book is the first one by Whitehorse Press to be done in full color from cover to cover.

As far as I know, this is the first book to detail the methods and technology of automotive and motorcycle plastic repair for the layman. It builds on my eight years of experience as technical support director for Urethane Supply Company, a leading manufacturer of plastic repair and refinishing products for the automotive collision repair industry.

This is a great book for the do-it-yourselfer who wants to do some repair or restoration work to his own vehicle. It would also be a great study guide for the collision repair technician who would like to broaden his skills base and create a source for additional revenue. The book only assumes that you have an interest and desire to save money by repairing your own plastic parts.

I think there's a very good chance that, if you choose to buy this book, you'll save the purchase price of the book with your very first repair and that you'll build skills that will save you much more money in the long run. If you have any questions about the book, please e-mail me at kurt@urethanesupply.com. Enjoy!

Unique
You know before reading this book, I thought I had pretty much captured most of what the Dalai Lama had to offer by way of the written word. But this book gave me a different glimpse into the man, where we find a dialogue of intimacy and open honesty unlike we have ever seen in his other works (still wonderful other works, at that!).

My favorite section in here was called "The Seduction of the Military." The Dalai Lama comments, "Frankly, as a child, I was attracted to the military. Their uniforms looked so smart and beautiful. But that is exactly how the seduction begins." And how true, yes? Children will be children, even I played with toy guns and bought G.I. Joe's to pass the time with. There are a wide variety of such exciting games, but I now see that perhaps they really are not as harmless as we might perceive them to be. Surely there are fun games for kids to play that aren't based on the killing of other human beings. The Dalai Lama purports that if it wasn't for the fact that so many adults in this world are fascinated and mesmerized themselves by military and war, that we could all see more clearly that allowing our children to play such games is extremely unfortunate. Imagine your child running around the back yard like he is a serial killer! It's somewhat scary when I look at it from this perspective. The Dalai Lama tells of how some former soldiers have through the years told him that at first when they killed someone, it made them feel awkward. But as time on the battlefield progressed, they grew desensitized and more and more accustomed to the act of taking life. That's the condition many of us seem to be in. We see so much of this on either the news or in the form of movies, that we are completely desensitized as to the harm it is actually doing everyone.

This is a magnificent book. If you are looking for a presentation on the Dalai Lama the man, this book delivers the good for us here. He covers compassion in a section titled, "The Medicine of Altruism." He refers to the plague Tibet underwent at the hands of Mao, and how this medicine was the requisite every Tibetan needed and sometimes still needs to fully heal from those terrible atrocities. Man I could go on and on. But why don't you let the Dalai tell you for himself? Enjoy the book.

Interesting Q&A from His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
How could I say that anything His Holiness is involved with is bad...? ha ha This book is exactally what it says it is. It's a question and answer session with His Holiness. This is not a straight through Q&A - It's rather a series of meetings with HHDL and this unknown business man. There are quite a few very interesting answers from His Holiness in the book. Basically is this worth buying? Yes, I think it is. Is it enjoyable to read? Once again, Yes I think so. Nothing very complex, just simple, straight forward answers from (in my mind atleast) The most compassionate man on earth. Short and easy to read, check it out.

It's how to make money!
When I first started my life as an entrepreneur my brother gave me a copy of the Incredible Secret Money Machine. I read it many times and whenever I followed it's advice, I prospered, and whenever I tried to "make it" doing the conventional things it advised against, I failed.

This book is for the average person who want's to have a little independence and security making money with their own technical or craft talents. It's a must-read!

A must read for techies/crafters who want to go it alone
I was turned onto this book by my friend Charlie in the 80's, who had successfully and happily run his own technical and craft money machines for many years. Since the book was out of print at the time, I had to search very hard to find a copy.

Don, through this book, has helped me to understand that I didn't need to be an employee, nor employ others in order to do my own technical venture and make a comfortable living. The advice is timeless (i.e. avoid taking on "granfaloons" (the government or large corporations), spend less than what you make, get by on less, invest in yourself, etc.) and continues to translate well into the internet economy.

I have taken to re-reading the book every year or so, to help adjust what I'm doing to increase my happiness and control over the direction of my career/life.

I have found it helpful to interact with others who are into this same "money-machine" lifestyle, and continue to enjoy many of the philisophical and other bits of advice provided.

The book is easy to read, humorous, and captivating. I had previously read Don's TTL and CMOS books, and also found those to be invaluable. This book is so genuine and unique, that nothing that I've found (and I've looked) has inspired me so much in my quest to do my own thing and run a small business.

Thanks Don!

What We Need to Understand About the Stock Market
I found this a very interesting book. The sons of the late Reverend Jamison and his wife have come across a stock that he purchased and go to seek the advice of B.B. Freeman, an African-American financial advisor. The three are both skeptical of the idea of investing. At each year, all three are to decide whether to sell or keep the stock and learn about the stock market and money management. This book is specifically targeted towards the African-American community but it is worth reading for anyone who doesn't have any idea of what stocks are and how to invest.

Teaching through a Good Story
Finally, a financial book that speaks directly to the African-American family! This book is so incredible because it approaches our culture in the manner we love the most--through a good story. The teaching tone is so soft, you don't realize that you're learning about investing.
