confused unemployed no money
This was a great book that gave a step by step management system to assist in getting your financial matters in good order while dealing with the economic and psychological effects of losing your job or dealing with a downturn in the economy. Topics that were covered included rent strategies, dealing with credit card debt and bill collectors and simple ways to save money when you are unemployed. There is also a section that touches on compiling a resume and offers suggestions and strategies for a more successful job interview. I am glad that this book is on the market. My son just lost his job and I intend to get him a copy as well.

Amazing strategies for prosperity and intimacy
Too many self-help books offer vague "positive
thinking" advice. Not so with this one. Virtually
every type of financial conflict is addressed in these
pages, and the reader is given fun, interesting, and
effective ways to specifically address problems, gain
insight, and to start a mutual creative path toward
prosperity. The book is filled with real-life stories
of couples with conflicts over money - it's impossible
to go through it without finding situations that you
can perfectly identify with. One section provides a
method for weighing the value of your time - this
section allowed me to make a compelling case to my
husband that hiring occasional household help would
actually help rather than hurt our bottom line! Even
though my marriage is strong, I could still find many
tips which were powerful and effective for moving us
forward financially.
As a psychologist, I frequently see clients facing
the types of problems discussed in this book. I'm
delighted that this volume exists as a resource for
them, one that I'm glad to refer them to. This book
is strongly recommended for any couple, or for any
professional who counsels or advises couples.

Financial Advice with a Heart
This book provides useful, unique perspectives about dealing with money as a couple. It is written in a personable style and, unlike a lot of personal finance books, it's fun to read. The book exactly pinpointed my own and my husband's financial styles, and then gave insightful and practical suggestions about how to work together effectively without arguing. I loved the "Shared Dreams" chapter. The author explains that you can accomplish far greater things by working together as a couple than by working individually or at odds with each other. This is a great book, not just for couples that are having money problems or money-related arguments, but also for couples that want to reach higher financial ground. After going through the book with my husband, I feel we understand each other much better, and have a clearer vision of our future together. I LOVED this book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any couple.

This book fills the void....
* * * * * FIVE STARS - EXCELLENT ! ! !

Given the importance that money plays in the harmony of a marriage, it's hard to think of a more important topic in either the aisle of books on Investments or the aisle on Relationships. Yet the topic seems to "get lost between the cracks" of these two gendres. This book fills the void by examining couples' attitudes toward money, by providing insight into the nature of our discourses, and by advising with much practical information and case-studies.

Reaching into her background as a psychologist, Victoria Collins believes that our attitudes towards money are rooted in our childhood. "Your financial life from cradle to Jr. High School deserves a second look", she suggests. The author also looks at other influences ranging from parents to church to contradictory expectations in the post woman's movement era.

But Couples & Money book does not over indulge in theorizing. It gets down to earth with worksheets, 10 essential truths, and numerous examples of real life financial counseling sessions. Most importantly for me, Collins deals with games men & women play vis a vis money. She gives advise for the most effective manner to address financial issues, using what she refers to as "MoneySpeak". Collins begins by asking "why does everyone find money so damn hard to talk about?" She then proceeds to advise couples how they can change their communication mode from one of confrontation to one of collaboration

An excellent book for couples wanting to get their money goals in-synch and, more importantly, wanting to improve their relationship. Victoria Collins' essential message is reflected in her comment: "As we all know, it (money) never really buys lasting freedom, security, love and power, but only a temporary facsimile of those states. To feel really free, secure, loving, and powerful requires emotional maturity, an integrated sense of personal value money cannot buy."

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!

Takes all the mystery out of Craps - A must read
I bought this book while I was leaving Las Vegas with a couple friends who were "knowledgable" about the game. I read it non-stop for 4 hours on the flight home. What I found out amazed me, not the least of which was that my friends had a lot to learn.

The book provides an understanding of the basic game, all the bets on the table, and a winning strategy that works. Since reading the book, 3 times cover to cover, and playing on my PC, I've played a couple times in Las Vegas, and both times walked away a winner. I fully realize this was part skill, and part luck. But without the book, I would have not had the knowledge to even begin to play smart.

Buy the book - you won't regret it. It provides a strategy for the long haul, not just one lucky experience. It explains everything. And the next time you are at the tables, you'll find out just how silly everyone else is.

Answers All The Questions About Craps
While some of the strategies are not complete, i.e., some circumstances are not covered, for the most part, this book gives a quick yet thorough view of what craps is AND how to bet. Many bets in craps are not good investments; he tells why.

Credit Card Debt: It Can Cost You Your Life (Lifesaving Strategies to Avoid Debt)

Great overview of credit basics and how to handle it
This book is a concise overview of credit basics and gives excellent advise for managing it properly. A great primer for those just entering the "credit market" or those who are starting the slippery slope of credit mis-management. It is also a good refresher for those who need another dose of advise on how to properly budget.

I highly recommend it to high school and college kids who are just starting to get the influx of credit card offers. This book gives them useful insight on handling a tool that often gets abused to their great misfortune.

Susan Powell makes good use of teaching by example in her case studies and gives normally dry information in a well thought out, readable manner.

knowledgable and educating
I found this book to be factual along with being extremely easy to understand and comprehend. I wish I had read it 10 years ago I know it would have saved me multiple thousand's of dollars!

I recomend this to anyone that carries even just one credit card so you really learn how the credit card companies make their money off of you.

This book pays for itself over and over again!!!!

A must if you have money problems.
As a psychologist, I suggest this book for anyone who has recurrent money problems. It asks the right questions and helps you find some helpful answers to get this aspect of your life in order.

I highly recommend this book.

Excellent
I found this book to be excellent as far as dealing with debt and money problems. Yvonne Kaye is a counselor who happens to live in my local area and gives many seminars. She writes like someone who knows what they are talking about on the subject because she does know, she was a person who self-describes herself as a person who was in debt, addicted to the spending/debt habit and was co-dependent in it. Yvonne Kaye is direct. She also points out that just because you're rich doesn't mean you don't have money problems! She is also lighthearted and has a sense of humor about all of it. I would recommend this book highly to anyone who is in need of getting out of debt and in a financial bind. M. Wood - AOL Subscriber and Amazon Customer (Wmonica@aol.com) I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with debt

***********WONDERFUL!************
This is one good book people. It's kind of like soap opera. It's about a teenager who LOVES shopping and then can't go shopping anymore. This was a great plot.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPLENDIFFEROUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my favorite of Sheila Klass's novels. It has three plots roled into one novel. It is hard to say whether Carole her friend Jim or her friend Monique has a more exciting life. All three have their own unique personalitys, and reactions to their lives. They have different views on eachothers lives and yet they all tie into the story. I reccomend this book to everyone in anyh situation

YOU BE THE JUDGE
On the advice of a friend who knows one of the "Cast Of Characters" (a "Yank In The Bank"), I ordered a used copy of this long out of print book. What an eye opener. It's amazing what a group of "former" senior military officers and spooks can get up to when allowed to run amok overseas. You name it and they got away with it. Even though some of the principals are dead, nobody has been held accountable for the myriad of crimes that have occurred abroad. With the lack of support rendered by the U.S. government (especially the F.B.I.), it makes one wonder how "former" some of the players really were. It's amazing how many of these same people reared their ugly heads years later during "Iran-Contra". Read the book and then decide for yourself.

How the U.S. brought down Australia's government in 1975
As an Australian I was both surprised and gratified that an American journalist should want to trace the extraordinary history of the Nugan Hand Bank's Australian operations. This great document decribes the most cut-throat, heroin dealing, crime syndicate ever to have sullied our shores, and all under the covert auspices of the C.I.A. Kwitny's research is exhaustive and his even handed way of presenting his findings is exemplary of fine journalism. The implications hatched in this veritable can of worms will have net-sleuths busy for years tracing the myriad references to the numerous associates of Nugan Hand who vanished into the night only to surface again in the Irangate scandal. Essential reading for anyone trying to come to terms with the scourge of heroin, the world arms trade and those members of the U.S.'s covert agencies that spread misery in their own and other countries...Read it if you dare!

Did She Leave Me Any Money?
A great mystery til the end! Kept me interested and happily occupied. A terrific change from the usual fare and more fun because I've visited Portland's Pittock Mansion. (I was there!)I liked the character of Travis because she didn't fall into the usual Man-Woman traps and she held her own! What a hoot!

"female Tom Robbins"
Great philosophical comedy. Would make a good film. Punchy writing style. Interesting study of men and what motivates them from a bright woman's perspective. Humor but no bashing. I bought copies for gifts I liked it so much.
