Blood money : the incredible true story of David Morris and the tragedy of Somalia
Published in Unknown Binding by Penguin (1996)

Blood MoneyA fantastic true story that has exposed the UN for there own incompetence and corruption. This is not a political book, but one of fact, and of sorrow. Once you pick this book up you will not want to put it down. The central character of the book is a real life entrupener David Morris and what an unbeleivable character he is, what he acheived in Somalia on just a few hundred thousnd dollars, put to shame the UN who spent over 1 billion dollars. This book should be a major motion picture, but I suspect the UN would never allow it to happen.
The U.N. follies"Blood Money" is a tragic example of how, as the old saying goes, "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions." New Zealander David Morris went to Somalia with the idea of making some money as a contractor for the U.N. as the U.N. tried to save the country from starvation and anarchy. While the U.N. fed the people, Morris's company fed the U.N. As chronicled by fellow countryman and reporter Trisha Stratford, somewhere along the way Morris decided to do what he could to help the Somali people. For his trouble and due in part to U.N. bungling, he ended up dead. In the context of the greater disaster that was the U.N. mission to Somalia, Morris's death might seem only a small part. But the trouble he and his company had with the World body are lessons that need to be learned if the U.N. is ever going to be an effective force for international intervention. This book is an excellent journalistic account of bureaucratic failure.

Wished I read it sooner! As a young couple, this book is a valuable asset. It helped us establish ourselves and create long-term goals for our future with our new home and home equity options. This is the first book review I have written, and was motivated to do so because this book saved me time, money and needless worrying about whether we were making smart choices.
Great ResourceI found this book to be a great resource to anyone looking to borrow money for their 1st house or any subsequent houses. This book does a great job of laying the groundwork for all the factors that should be considered when borrowing money and helping you make a smart decision about it. I highly recommend it.

BudgetYes! 21st Century Solutions for Taking Control of Your Money Now!

Life ChangingThis was a fabulous book. I am addicted to BudgetYes. It changed my life -- I paid off $10,000 of credit card debt in 6 months and actually look forward to paying my bills each month. For anyone who doesn't necessarily have money "problems" but who knows they ought to learn to live within a budget and wants to set a good example for their children, this is the perfect book. I've given a copy to my sister and my mother. If I could find a diet book that worked as well, I'd be in heaven.
Concepts that workIn BudgetYes! you will find solutions to your problems of wandering funds, missing money and unorganized finances. A well explained, detailed and illustrated book that lays it on the table and will help you to get organized with your money and account for every dime. Inside you will not only find well orchestrated instructions, but examples of all of the different layouts you will need to begin to get a grip on your finances. The concepts used here are very similar to the principals of accounting, yet they are explained in a way that you don't need to be a C.P.A. to understand them. I highly recommend this book for anything from getting a grip on your money to setting up a complete household budget. Well done!

Whether you hope to provide books for your children, for a college class, or to find the best deals on the latest best sellers, you will become a more savvy buyer after reading this book. Very useful and fun to readThis book is going to save me a lot of money on books for myself and for my son, his cousins, now and probably when it is time to start buying college books too. It's a very thorough manual with helpful glossaries, abbreviatin guides, and some very good advice for finding the online booksellers most likely to provide good customer service. It's also enjoyable to read and it is obvious that the author has a great sense of humor, loves books, and understands what drives people to buy them.

An excellent tool for understanding this complex subject"The Challenges of Wealth" is full of practical information, exercises and tremendously useful advice. The authors address both technical and psychological issues; and in so doing, provide a complete exploration of the important concerns that wealthy individuals are likely to encounter. It is written in a clear, accessible style and is easy to read. The points made in the book are equally educational to the wealthy and to the financial planners, investment advisors, attorneys, accountants, philanthropy consultants and counselors who work with them. For anyone curious about this subject and looking for answers, this book is a must-read.
This is an excellent bookIt is old, almost impossible to find, and I suspect that only the author and I have ever read it but it is a very good book.
I am a structured settlement expert and do financial planning for injury victims and often quote this book in lectures.
First book I ever came across on the psychology of receiving sudden wealth. The insights into the guilt that injured people and people who inherit wealth sometimes feel is priceless. Worth owning just for that.
Took me about a year to get a second copy of the book after my original was lost but it is worth waiting to have again.

An enlightening and useful book, important subject.Few people understand and write about the important relationships between parents, caregivers and the children they share and care for. These authors have studied the subject and bring insight and much to think about. A useful book for both parents who want to have successful relationships with their caregivers and deepen their understanding of what is happening in their lives. Caregivers will find their important role appreciated. A genuinely new contribution to the huge numbers of books out there for parents.
Excellent, must reading for parents of small childrenThis book is full of wonderful examples and scenarios of various parent-care giver interactions that really help to organize aspects of this important and complex relationship. It is also easy to read and understand. I found several examples that really struck close to home for me. I highly recommend it for both parents and care givers alike.

A highly recommended guide with useful adviceJohn C. Attig's College In Three Years: Stop Wasting Time & Money is a very practical, sensible, "user friendly" guide to conserving the expenses of a higher education. Offering advice on using advanced placement tests and college-level exams to earn credits without taking courses, as well as Internet correspondence courses and community college courses, College In Three Years also advises shortening a college career by taking extra courses and summer school, instead of a part-time job which will not only reduce one's available time for education but which will also reduce opportunities for financial aid. A highly recommended guide with useful advice even for those who don't have three years in college as their exact maximum goal, College In Three Years is especially recommended and invaluable reading for anyone seeking a college degree despite limited financial resources.
Excellent ResourceWhat an excellent topic!! I obtained 2 Bachelors degrees and spent 8 years in college before settling on my current career. As a result, I am still paying on student loans that I could have avoided had I had a reference book like this to refer to. I wish I would have had this book when I was in college! It definitely would have helped. I recommend any high school student or his/her parents read this book when making college plans and that any college student unsure of his/her future also read it. High school guidance counselors would be wise to have this book available for students and parents.

Great writing at any Price!Screenwriting gurus are forever trying to define "great screenwriting." And screenwriting students are always asking the gurus: What is great screenwriting? I would advise guru and student alike to CUT TO the chase and pick up this book...it's a fine example of GREAT SCREENWRITING. Lean, to the point, and always moving forward.
Contemporary masterRichard Price is among the most talented of Hollywood screenwriters working today. His ability to infuse characters with even the smallest unique trait infuses them with depth and reality that few other writers are able to capture.
His recent rewrites of such scripts as "Shaft" and "Ransom" prove the level of quality he is able to bring to even the most mainstream films.
