A simply fascinating read for its quintessential insights
Are You Normal About Money? by Bernice Kanner is an amusing quiz book drawn from bloomberg.com surveys, and Madison Avenue industry sources, about the general population's views (on average) toward a variety of money matters. Presenting a host of ethical and philosophical money-related questions alongside statistics reflecting how people have answered, from "Would you have sex for money?" (60% no, 6.7% yes, 20.4% it depends on who with) to "Ever contribute to political campaigns?" (two-thirds of us never do), Are You Normal About Money? is a simply fascinating read for its quintessential insights about average human nature when confronting money and money management issues.

Hurray! I'm normal!
Hurray! I'm normal! Just when I thought some of my spending habits and monetary practices were unique to me alone, I find myself right up there with the other 43%, or 72%, or 80% of the country. Bernice Kanner has written a fascinating, funny, and may I add highly informative guide to how people spend and consider their money. It is fun to read, and I'll probably give it as a gift to those who appreciate the facts behind the myths about money -starting with my daughter who, at 13, is already lobbying for her own charge account.

A keystone book to any library
You are not a pharmacist until you read this book. Nor are you a doctor, lawyer or Indian chief. Every historian, military expert, and anyone with intellectual curiosity will feel compelled to read it.

Those who have read Ayn Rand, George Orwell and Plutarch will include this tome as a lifetime "must read".

Sadly, it is currently out of print.

A most facinating case study of international Business
I first picked up this book in the bargain bin at my college bookstore for only $1.00. It is probably the most interesting non-fiction book I have ever read. Even though it concentrates on the trials and tribulations of aspirin, it gives an interesting picture of over-the-counter drug marketing and promotion during the 20th century. The book is well researched, with liberal footnotes.

The main storyline for the book is about the story of Farbenfabriken Bayer (later IG Farben and Bayer AG) and Sterling Drug, the US owners of the Bayer name (they bought it during an auction of German properties during WWI) It well documents the battle between the two owners of the Bayer name for the Bayer tradmark; a battle that lasted well over 60 years.

One unexpected part of the book was the chapter regarding drug marketing in Latin America. The techniques used there in the mid-20th century closely resemble the patent medicine hucksters in America in the late 1800's.

About the last fourth of the book is dedicated to the recent surge in discoveries of aspirin's use for heart-attacks, stroke, and other clotting related disorders. This is probably the most dry part of the book, but it is still pretty good.

In conclusion this is an excellent book for anyone interested in the history of the drug industry or mass marketing.

Must-read for job changers
This book was great! A headhunter caught me off gaurd with a great opportunity, but I had to make a decision faster than I was comfortable with. I got myself smart in about 2 days, and was able to negotiate a much better compensation package. I'd recommend it to anyone in a negotiation-situation.

Essential Career Book
Stock options have always been a big mystery to me. This book helped me understand what employers are talking about with stock options. I found tons of "insider" tips and real-life examples that I will put to use right away. In particular, I found the "secrets" of negotiating for stock options-- especially the tricks companies use to reduce stock options grants--to be especially eye-opening. I also learned how to think of myself as an investor and not just an employee--something I had never done before.

I've been able to adjust my own opportunites to negotiate for options. In addition, I found the book fun to read. The writing is fresh, clear, and the concepts easy to understand, even for a novice like me. I also found the glossary of terms and Internet resources to be very helpful tools. I highly recommend this book for job seekers and those who really want to know how to negotiate for all they're worth.

Out from Under
Paul Bibeau has been flying under the mainstream radar for several years while honing his craft in late-night coffeehouses, poetry slam/jams, and a certain park in New York City where performance artists smear themselves with all manner of filth while squawking like magpies. By day, he's been throwing pixie dust in the eyes of the mainstream as the most subversive of sleeper cell editors for publications like Mademoiselle (ugh! had to start somewhere, though) and Maxim (boing! who's her daddy?). Now, having shorn all pretense of corporate docility and gone freelance, he's emerged from the fringe with this collection of stories. Don't expect trite endings, meta-wordplay, or the sort of snarky poseur tone that permeates too much of today's "hip lit", including this review. Paul's writing is straightforward and earnest; he lets the subtle plots do the work rather than relying on prose to get the reader off. If you want to experience a writer who lives what he writes, buy this book and then search out Paul's freelance stuff, particularly the older stuff, like, no lie, where he dug a giant hole in the countryside and cooked an entire pig while marinating himself and his compatriots (but, strangely, not the pig) in bourbon. There'll be more, much more.

A fantastically twisted read
Paul Bibeau is a master of short story. These tales are sometimes macabre, sometimes whimsical, and, at all times, dark. Collections of short stories are often times disjointed and almost force the reader to find something else to read. But Bibeau stories have the little twists and turns and just enough intrigue to keep the reader interested and engaged.

Bibeau also doesn't insult the reader's intelligence by mentioning every little detail, every little conversation and explaining every little nuance of his short stories. He lets the readers fill in the blanks and leaves some parts of the stories for the readers to ponder. This has the effect of toying with the reader and leaves them to only imagine the worse - which, admittedly, is different for every reader.

The longer short story, "The Big Money" is a tale well told about the angst of trying to find a career, and self in the marketplace of sharks. Though it focuses on the publishing industry, it has a universal appeal. If you've ever stuck out like a sore thumb at a party, this is a tale you'll empathize with. Many of Bibeau's stories tend to emphasize the isolation, agony and then odd pleasure one gets from being an individual with some kind of self-awareness. However, the stories are not just about introspective reflection, Bibeau has plenty of witty stories, ascerbic one-liners and a keen sense of self deprecation.

It is a good sign when as soon as you are through reading a book, you pick it back up again, to reread some of your favorite passages. This is just such a book.

Big Money Writing Little Booklets

Self-Publishing Riches Well Within Reach
Finally! Someone who doesn't hold something back! Many books promise the moon ... Mike McMillan's delivers. There are many books on the market that will give you information about self-publishing and the marketing of self-published books. Mike McMillan takes the subject to the next level. In BIG MONEY WITH LITTLE BOOKLETS you'll learn exactly what to do from concept to creation. You'll learn how to design covers, bind books, ship books, create invoices, do research, market, get publicity, etc. This book has it all. Even the mundane tasks that accompany the self-publishing industry are spelled out with incredible clarity.

As you read this book, you'll find yourself thinking, "Hey, I can do this!" And that itself is worth the price of admission. This book doesn't merely contain information ... it contains USABLE information to the average "Joe." And that's one of the keys that makes this book a winner.

The author of this manual has published over 40 titles on subjects OTHER THAN self-publishing. This alone separates Mike McMillan's book from the competition. After reading this book, you'll be sure to want to keep it on hand as a reference guide. It's truly a winner.

After my initial reading, I wrote a small booklet over the weekend and in a matter of weeks - sold 12,000 copies. By following the simple principles outlined in this book, anyone with a little get-up-and-go can create and sell a profitable information product.

When you place your order, the only thing I can say is - get ready. You're about to become a believer!

SOLD 12,000 BOOKS IN TWO WEEKS AFTER READING THIS BOOK!
Sometimes you just don't feel that five stars is enough for a book. In these cases you would like to be able to give a book six or seven stars.

That's precisely what I feel about this book!

After having read this book, one of my friends SOLD 12,000 BOOKS IN JUST 2 WEEKS!

And he did it without spending a fortune on printing, type-setting, distribution etc.

Actually this book showed him how to write, self-publish, market, sell and distribute his own books in just WEEKS.

Can you imagine how excited he was, when he wrote an enthusiastic message on my discussion board, telling how he sold these 12,000 books in less than fourteen days!

The author, Mike McMillan, is a former chemistry teacher who gave up his teacher fee for self-publishing his own books. And what's really remarkable is that his books isn't on how-to-get-rich-quickly.

No!

McMillan has sold thousands and thousands of books on such subjects as chemistry, the teacher-role, biology etc.

Not exactly the kind of books you would imagine to be the ideal self-publishing books, uh!

And he has obviously found a way to self-publish and sell books that beat most other ways I've ever heard of.

What I find so fantastic about this book, is that Mike McMillan shows how ANYONE can self-publish their own book in just a few weeks (or even days), without spending more than a few dollars.

Usually the way of selling self-published books has been through classified ads, seminars, work-shops, free publicity etc.

But very often the problem with this way of marketing your book, is that it's a SLOW way to sell books.

Besides it takes a lot of time.

Mike McMillan has found a way that often can much more effective.

He sells his books in large quantities to big mail-order distribution houses. This way he can sell literally THOUSANDS of books in a very short time, and without spending either a fortune or a lot of time doing so.

Besides, he get's instant cash for his books.

So often you can read superficial how-to books that leave you in doubt about how to succeed. Not so McMillan!

I really like his way of showing his readers how to take every little new step forward. And he doesn't hold anything back. I really feel that he shares his innermost secrets in this book.

This is simply a remarkable book! By reading this book you'll know something that you most likely will find nowhere else.

I just can't recommend this book strongly enough.

You won't regret it if you buy and read this masterpiece!

Another great Ralph Cotton novel
Blood Money, part three of the trilogy Dead or Alive, brings new and old characters together. Realistic and believable, people with personality step from the pages... I recommend all three in the trilogy...

NOT ABOUT HART!
As usual I liked this Ralph Cotton book. However, it is very much more about Jake Coak, Quick Charlie Simms and Kate McCorkle than it is Sullivan Hart and Twojack Roth. J. T. Priest has been set free and Judge Parker sends Coak, Simms, Hart and Roth out to destroy Priest and his gang, Los Pistoleros. The first part of the book is devoted to Coak bringing in wanted outlaws then when the four of them are to go after Priest, Coak and Simms take over and have nearly all the action. I did enjoy the book, it is a very good western, just not really about Hart. Jake Coak is great, I hope he show up again with his automatic sawed off rifle. A rare thing to see. Did not like the part of Simms as I think he was a lier most of the time. A fast read, will hold you attention and you won't want to put it down. A few funny places as Priest and his gang to blow a safe and blow up nearly every thinging else instead.
