Plan your investments wisely
JK Lasser's Guide To Mutual Fund Investing is a "must have" for anyone like me who is trying to decide how to invest their 401k/403b. It explains"new" funds, convertible and REIT funds, and the difference between index funds and managed funds and when to use them. This book will help you avoid some of the mistakes that trip up the average investor. Before I read this, I didn't realize how badly the average investor does.

This book helps take the mystery out of mutual fund investing. In my case, (investing for retirement), I'm trying to create a portfolio that is balanced, diversified, and smart. This book has given me the tools I need to make the right choices. The book is well written and the topics it covers are clearly presented. It was an enjoyable read (surprising!). I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Pick Winning Mutual Funds
Great investment guide and resource book--well written and very understandable. I wish I had a resource like this 25 years ago. Read this book to understand the reasoning behind indexing, why your portfolio should be balanced in the ways described, and to learn about the new fund effect as an effective way to maximize investment gains. Also learn about convertibles, REITs and other interesting and little understood investment topics.

Pick Winning Mutual Funds
....As a thirty five year professional in the investment industry, I found this book, Pick Winning Mutual Funds, written by the same authors who wrote Winning with Index Funds, a very valuable book for anyone, like a seasoned professional such as myself, to a first time investor.I wish a book like this had been available when I started in the investment business in 1964. These two authors broke new ground again. This is the first book that acually explaines how one can go about finding the right funds that fit their protfolio. It also shows how to stop paying high up front sale charges and excessive annual fees. The well researched book is full of information I've never come across before--like how to reduce risk and where to get good on-line information about funds. And, one of the most important things I learned was when to use index funds(and which ones) and when to use managed funds. It's a great book for someone who is trying to figure out which mutual fund in which to invest... ...........I strongly recommed it..!!!

Polemical but Riveting
"Jews without money" seems to me far more remarkable for its political positions than for its writing. Gold is, to put it bluntly, not a particularly skilled wordsmith. His limitations are obvious from the first page. Nevertheless this novel/memoir makes for fascinating reading. The book consists of a series of loosely connected vignettes from the life of a child growing up in the Lower East Side at the turn of the century. Gold wants to capture the sights and smells and sensations of that world, and while his prose is not quite up to the task, the reader still comes away powerfully moved.

What seems to be unique about Gold's account is his political bent. Rather than softening or sentimentalizing his experiences, he picks at scabs and pulls back the curtain to reveal horrors to his readers. As a devoted socialist, he wants to expose the evils of unrestrained capitalism. What that means for him is, rather than denying anti-Semitic stereotypes, he revels in them. Gold he wants the reader to understand that they are the result, not of Jewish culture, but of the effects of American ghetto poverty upon the Jews of his neighborhood. Povery, he aruges, turns potential into corruption. His is a world in which people will do anything for a few pennies, often all that stands between them and starvation. On the other hand, his world is also populated by characters who remain strong despite their suffering: his mother, who would rather go hungry than see a stranger starve; the foolish store-owner, who loses her livelihood because she cannot stand to turn away the poor. There are also desperate prostitutes, rapacious pawn brokers, crooked businessmen, and dreamers and schemers of all sorts.

This book lacks the literary ambition of Henry Roth's "Call it Sleep" or the narrative power of Abraham Cahan's "Rise of David Levinsky" (in my opinion, the finest novel ever about the Jewish immigrant experience). This is a political tract, and sometimes its dogma is rather irritating, even offensive. Nevertheless, it is a significant and important document of early 20th-century Jewish culture, and deserves to be read.

A Great Book
This is a masterpiece that has lost none of its power since it was first published 70 years ago. The book hooks you from the first paragraph and never lets go.

An earthy description of the immigrant experience.
The only thing marring this important work is the introduction by Alfred Kazin which maligns the novel and Michael Gold and leaves the reader wondering if the publisher is really trying to promote the book. The introduction probably is the result of old grudges from bygone politically motivated "cultural wars" between Jewish writers. The author's widow was deeply upset by the underhanded and cowardly introduction.

Great Overview of Everything Money
This book is a great overview of all the big topics concerning money (savings, investments, real estate, wills, car buying, home buying, etc). The information is presented in an understandable way and gives examples on the topics that are more difficult. I learned a lot in this book, and it gave me more confidence in how to handle money. Excellent read!

About this book
I've checked out many books on basic financial advice and this is the best - from college savings and IRA's to advice on making a will.

The best of the bunch
For anyone looking for a readable, reliable guide to everything they want to know about their money, I'd say this is the book. I've checked out many, many of them and feel that this is the best of the bunch.

A must-have for anyone befuddled by personal finances
From the first page to the last, this book not only offers to-the-point lucid descriptions but performs that task in an entertaining way.

Excellent, easy read for all the financial info you need
This book explains complicated financial information in an easy-to-understand format. I use this book for my tax clients to help them understand issues involved with obtaining a mortgage, understanding mutual funds and investing, and how to save money for retirement. Even if you shy away from financial issues because they are boring, you'll love this book. It gives you the same information a long boring book gives you in simple, easy-to-understand examples you will relate to. You don't even have to read the entire book. It's like a finanical library, pick out the topic that interests you and read it to learn what you need to know in just a few minutes. I love the part on insurance, explains all the things no one ever taught me. The part on investing cleared up questions I've wondered about. My clients love it. If you are in business, it makes a nice thank you gift for clients. They are really impressed with the book.

Best Book on personal finance, great for right-brainers too.
This is the best book on personal finance I have ever seen. The books cuts out all the boring financial stuff and you are left with the 'gems' of what you really need to know to manage your money. It starts with the "big picture" and explains in terms everyone can understand. Highly reccomended for a graduation gift for high school or college or as a wedding gift. Wish I had known all this when I was younger. Even simplifies taxes. No household should be without it

A daily requirement.
This book has become part of my morning ritual. I read the meditation for the day each morning. It helps me to quit debting one day at a time. I've made some real strides in my debting behavior and this book helps keep me on track. A must read for anyone struggling with debt. It'll make you feel better and give you the strength and hope to make it one more day without debting.

Letting Go of Debt
Daily meditations for those who swim through a stormy sea of debt encircled by sharks. The stress of debt is as fierce as any other addiction, affecting us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and even causing other addictive behaviors, all of which affects our relationships. In fact, we get so stressed about our debt that, for relief, we spend more. Debt is acquired a day at a time. Likewise, debt reduction and financial solvency are accomplished and maintained a day at a time. These meditations are a welcome adjunct to financial recovery programs or books.

didn't get in debt in a day and won't get out in a day ...
Being in debt is a lonely place to be, and I finally found a simple step forward to a permanent solution, this book. There is a short one small page topic for each day. This keeps me in the solution of becoming financially solvent, each day. The topics are simple and reaffirming, along with suggestions that most people perhaps do without thinking, but for those that have gotten into debt, the topics are the ladder out of our problem. Previously I bought "How to Get Out of Debt, Stay Out of Debt & Live Prosperously" by Jerrold Mundis but this did not change my spending behavior even though I read it cover to cover.

Goldmine of information
About three years ago, while reading Otto Skinner's 'The Biggest "Tax Loophole" of All', I became aware of the phenomenon known as fractional reserve banking. Why is it a phenomenon? Essentially, fractional reserve banking is the ability to create money out of thin air. Or more accurately, the license to create money out of thin air. Black's Law Dictionary defines "license" as, "The permission by competent authority to do an act which without such permission, would be illegal." But it isn't the people doing this. It is the bankers courtesy of the Federal Reserve Act. People like the Rockefellers, Nelson W. Aldrich, J.P. Morgan and Paul Warburg. This books goes into the details. Fantastic information explaining the history of money, where the national debt comes from, why statists depise gold and silver and suggestions on what you can do about the problem of fiat currency. I, above all things, stopped using Federal Reserve Notes and credit cards and started using the Liberty Dollar. I signed up as an associate two years ago. It has been a fun and informative journey. I also have met Bernard von NotHaus on several occassions.

Absolutely Awesome!
A riveting book that will open your eyes to the ecomomic problems in our society and how we got here. But best of all it explains in detail the solution to those problems. I loved it.

Complexities of global economics deciphered
The global economy, especially those aspects dealing with global finance, often appear to be intimidating in their complexity. Susan Strange decodes processes of finance and monetary policy and puts them in terms that just about anyone can understand. There is, in fact, nothing that complex about these processes at all. The metaphor of "casino capitalism" still holds...and they are playing with your money. One would do well to read this in combination with a book by George Soros. Comprehensive, but readable. A great book.

From korean reader
Please me know if this book will be tranlsated into Korean, in a few year

Message from France
I would like to know if that book is going to be translate in french. Thank you.

How to Get Rich in Mail Order by Melvin Powers
Melvin Powers is one of the old pros. I dare say that everyone in the business that you see on the TV Infomercials, got their original info from Mel Powers. The gent was long in the business, out of a squat little office in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA in the late 1970s when I began in the marketing and sales business. Over the years, I have purchased probably 20 of copies of this book. I keep loaning them out, and they never come home ! The book has the actual copies of very successful newsprint ads and therefore you can use these actual copies of successful ads to write your own. Everyone speaks about the internet for selling, but hands down, nothing beats newsprint ads if the product is appealing to the public.

I would give it 9 stars if I could! Melvin is wonderful!
Melvin Powers is a legend! All of his books are great, especially this one! It has "real" techniques that work!

Absolutely, the BEST book on this topic!
I've read them all. Mel Powers has put forth the most complete and thorough collection of "doable" classified tips! I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who really wants to make big money! To see how these techniques can help YOU make it big, please visit 2StartSmart.com

Fabulous Book!
I love this book. It gives practical help for faith in finances. It enabled us to purchase 40 acres of country property with cash. I gave my copy away and need to replace it! The bottom line is that God loves you. He wants to bless you. He is WELL able to bless you. He WILL bless you if you just get ahold of the principles that he sets forth in His Word, the Bible. The price is a tiny investment for a world of wealth and blessing.

Use it to get your priorities and finances in order
This book has revolutionized our finances. It's a quick read--just one day. It's simple and easy to understand. I highlighted relevant phrases and can thumb through it every so often just to renew my mind with the Word on finances. We use the prayers to pray over our own tithes and offerings. Each time I read it it bolsters my faith once again to receive God's prosperity, so we can help get the Word out to others. Another terrific offering from Brother Copeland.

A must must read if you want to Understand true Prosperity
My sister inlaw let us read it. I was not sure if it would be that great by what she was telling us about it. Don't get me wrong my sister inlaw really enjoyed the book and she wanted us to read it because she know it would help us. It's just she did not know how to sale it. But If you really want to get a hold of your finances and get out of debt for good. This is the book to read. It show how God wants us to prosper. Managing GOD'S Mutual Funds, show you in an easy to understand step by step instructions using the word of GOD each step of the way. IT'S SO GOOD I HAD TO GET TWO; ONE FOR US, AND ONE FOR MY PASTOR.
