Your Money, your choice Mutual Funds
I was asked to review an early draft of this book. I'm really glad I did! Like many other people, I'm recently retired, need to stay tuned to the stcok market so that I can keep my "nest egg" wisely invested, but would much rather be outside playing golf, tennis, etc. I want to enjoy every minute of of each day, and the last thing I want to do is study and play the stock market! So, I don't, or at least not nearly as much as I should.

This book was exactly what I needed. I learned a lot more about mutual funds than I had expected to learn and it was written so that I could easily understand it. Subsequently, I'm making changes that will simplify and improve my investment strategies and will allow me to play golf without that little voice in the back of my head telling me that instead, I should be sitting at my desk studying the "market"!

If this all sounds familiar and you can relate to what I'm saying, then read it! You'll be glad you did!

Mutual Funds: Your Money, Your Choice
This book is great and I felt that Dr. Jones had written it just for me. He is right, it is my money and my choice to make good investment decisions. After reading the book, I feel like I am ready to avoid the pitfalls and invest in mutual funds. Thank you Dr. Jones for writing a book that even I can understand.

Mutual Funds: Your Money, Your Choice...
This book is fabulous! Clear and precise, it answered all my questions. Since I am just getting in the investment game, I was pleasantly surprised to find a book so easy to follow for the novice. Kudos to the author! I am really looking forward to Dr. Jones's next book!

No B.S. Sales Success: The Ultimate, No Holds Barred, Kick Butt, Take No Prisoners, and Make Tons of Money Book (Self-Counsel Business Series)

Great Book
I thought this book was so good my dog literally eat my copy of it and it immedeatily (sp) went on Amazon and ordered another one. I'm an author myself and I have read many business books and I appreciate Kennedy's straight forward, no BS writing. I want to learn real things that I can actually use in selling and this book does that. It's also cheaper than most of the books that it is better than.

A proactive sales success classic.
Dan Kennedy has played a huge role in helping me to be successful in business. Dan Kennedy is currently President of the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation and has been one of my success mentors because his wisdom is easy to follow - but more than that it is right on! I started out as an engineer and a very timid salesman. Dan Kennedy is has helped to change that. Because of him I know myself better, which has helped me to better serve others in my business. I guarantee that if you read this book you will be a changed person - it's that incredible.

Kennedy always covers all of the proactive bases: smart thinking, system thinking, futuristic thinking, and positive thinking. If you are truly seeking the kind of success and abundance that makes your life 100% livable - you must read this book. Many of his ideas are found in SUCCESS BOUND, another book built on learning how to live a proactively life that is God centered and fulfilling.

Everything that I have put into practice that Dan Kennedy has recommended in his books has worked. He has brought me success by focusing on what is important in selling and using my God given talents and my thinking ability to be a better salesman.

You will find that this exciting book becomes a part of you. Don't hold back - let it happen. In fact, spend 10 to 15 minutes every morning for the next several days focusing your thoughts on the truths of this book, thereby allowing them to seep deep into your subconscious mind. If you do this I guarantee God's wisdom will most assuredly bring you the success and abundance you deserve.

Enjoy this book and your new proactive and successful life!

Just what everybody (not just salespeople) needs
I bought this book purely because I like Dan Kennedy. I am not a salesperson by training or profession, but I always know that I can get something good out of what Dan says.

One of the most interesting points he brings up is that of "takeaway selling." This is basically, where instead of covertly begging for the sale like so many salesepeople do, you take it away by playing "hard to get." This is part of his overall plan of positioning yourself, so people respect you. People want to do business with you, so you don't have to go beg for business, which brings me to my next point.

This book is a little misleading in the sense that people think it only applies to salespeople. I disagree. We all sell in some way shape or form in our lives. The key is to position yourself in such a way that people seek you out instead of you having to advertise. How many "ads" does Harvard University place to recruit students?

I give this book 5 stars purely because it is short and packed with very good useful information. 5 stars because it is great for anyone who owns a business. If you're tired of underpricing your services and having to advertise heavily, this book is just what you need. And if you don't own a business and are not a salesperson? I still think it is a useful book because it causes you to conduct yourself in a different manner. You have more self-respect and self-worth which is something we all need regardless of our profession.

the best one EVER
This is definately my favorite volume of the manga! Ryoko is my heroine, so I loved seeing her in action! This book is great because it shows both sides of Ryoko; we really get a good glimpse at the softer side which she often keeps hidden. The story itself is awesome, the gang ventures into space in search of a treasure Ryoko vaguely remembers, and on a distant planet they meet up with a mysterious stranger who Ryoko knew 800 years before! You have got to get this manga! This was the first volume of the manga I bought and after reading it I was convinced to exand my collection. Get it now!

The Quest For More Money
The story for "No Need For Tenchi Vol.9:The Quest For More Money" begins on the day after a huge party.Ryoko has a strange dream and the Masaki family discover they have no more money. Then Ryoko remembers a treasure she once tried to get 800 years ago. Ayeka suggests that they go to retrieve the treasure to solve their money problem. Soon, they are off on their quest. When they reach their destination, they meet Ryoko's first love! They are also being chased by a space pirate and a crazy robot. Will the Masaki family ever get the treasure? Will the badguys win? Will Ryoko find out what happened 800 years ago? Who will Ryoko love? To find out what happens, you'll have to read it. I thought this graphic novel was really excellent. I loved the art, the story, and the characters. The arthor of this book, Hitoshi Okuda, did a great job. If you like manga, science fiction, comedy, drama, and adventure, then get this book.

GREAT COMIC!
THIS IS A DEFINITE MUST BUY! if you are really into tenchi/ryoko love, this is definitly the comic for you. it contains numerous scenes in which u can really see there are sparks between ryoko and tenchi. and, even if u ARENT into ryoko/tenchi stuff, its still a really great addition to the no need for tenchi manga series!!! I must insist that u get it now!

Paper money of the United States : a complete illustrated guide with valuations
Published in Unknown Binding by Coin and Currency Institute (1975)
Author: Robert Friedberg
Amazon base price: $
Used price: $7.49
Collectible price: $8.00

F&F good as always...
Clearly THE book for the beginner and intermediate collector. It gives an excellent overview of each type of note (Nationals, Silver Certs, etc.) as well brief descriptions of each note within each type. A great way to learn the history associated with the engravings on U.S. paper currency from the Civil War (1861) to the present.

And, of course, the Friedberg numbering scheme is the standard method of referencing notes among collectors and dealers alike.

It should be noted however, that the values given for the notes are very rough approximations (very conservative). This is especially true for the UNC grade(MS60-64). There are no values for GEM notes (MS65+).

If you're looking for a comprehensive note reference with ball park values, this book is for you.

A must have for the Currency Collector.
This is the standard reference work on United States Currency for the collector. While the prices given are pretty much obsolete in the volatile currency market, the Friedberg Numbering system is universally used by dealers and collectors alike. If you are considering participation in floor or online auctions, you cannot tell what you are bidding on without this book, as all notes will be listed by FR#. Well worth the investment!

Outstanding Guide & Catalog
This book is a must-have for the serious US currency collector, along with the Standard Catalog, 17th edition. Together they provide a great catalog and price guide for US Treasury issues. There are good sections on fractionals and Confederate currency, and decent treatment of colonials. No obsoletes or military payment certificates. The black and white photos are quite a bit larger than those in the Standard Catalog. The color pictures in the back are a nice touch, but the printing is not the world's greatest -- many of the reds come out as pinks, the greens look almost fluorescent, etc.

There aren't many anecdotes or interesting bits of trivia, but as a guide and catalog it is top notch.

Small town girl hits big city
Loved PLAY MONEY from start to finish. It moves as fast as the trading floor where Pedersen finds herself at the tender age of 18. Newly arrived in the Big Apple she takes life in the fast lanes mostly in stride, along with the crazy antics of her cohorts. These people and situations were made for a sitcom and I can't believe that one hasn't been made of it yet. You'll learn a little about the stock exchange and options trading but not so much that the stories ever get bogged down. A fun read for anyone who has ever been in the biz (I was a currency trader in the 90s) but also if your just looking to cheer along a determined young person trying to pull herself up by the proverbial bootstraps.

FAST AND FUNNY
This is not a financial book, though it tells you just enough to enjoy and understand what's going on. It's much more like LIAR'S POKER in that you get all the funny anecdotes about traders and the fear and greed that drives them. Pedersen is the perfect person to tell the tale, newly arrive on the stock exchange from upstate New York at age 18. My Uncle works on the trading floor of the NYSE and since the advent of cell phones and better computers it's certainly a new era. Pedersen's book is wonderful as a historical account of how it was before all that. And her personal story of moving to the big city from a small town, without much money and only a high school diploma from a public school, and setting out to achieve the American Dream is entertaining as well. And also, I would think, an inspiration to all ambitious young people (seeing as she wasn't even a good math student!). I particularly enjoyed all the bets and contests the guys would start -- as if making and losing millions of dollars every few minutes wasn't enough excitement!

Hilarious But True Story, Only In America
I am working my way backward through the Pedersen oeuvre, having just read LAST CALL, BEGINNER'S LUCK, and GOING AWAY PARTY. I thought this was going to be another novel, but SURPRISE, it is an account of Pedersen's adventures going to Wall Street back in 1983, the start of boom times. She was only 18 and coming from a small town in upstate New York, a self-admitted hick, unable to find the stock exchange on her third day of work because it was raining and the flag wasn't flying. The supervisor had never heard THAT excuse before. Anyway, Pedersen is as light-hearted and charming in her nonfiction as in the novels. She doesn't come off as being a child whiz kid, though I imagine you must be pretty smart to do what she did, but credits her phenomenal success more to being in the right place at the right time, getting up early, and loving the work, action, excitement. Her coworkers are unbelievable and highly entertaining in their practical jokes and bizarre priorities. For someone who has lived in Indiana her entire life (me), it was fun to read about leaving home for a big city right after high school graduation, something probably many of us dreamed of doing, but for whatever reason didn't. This book reminded me why American is such a great country -- not so much because a teenage girl of divorced working class parents from a former steel town can strike it rich in just a few years, but because the young woman was able to make the opportunity for herself, no matter what happened after that. Though I'm glad she took her money and ran, and am looking forward to the next novel, HEART'S DESIRE. HOWEVER, if she wants to write another nonfiction book, I'd be happy to go along for the ride. Pedersen has the great comic/storytelling gift of making getting up in the morning into something funny and interesting. I read an essay she wrote about growing up with her mother (a nurse) on the Internet and it is laugh-out-loud funny.

Quantitative Analysis For Business : The Time Value of Money and Basic Business Statistics Using a Business Calculator

Common-sense approach
This textbook is not written in the usual stale educational style. The author uses an approach to teaching that's designed to not intimidate the student; it's an "easy read." The examples (and calculator keystrokes)can be followed easily; it's almost like having the instructor there with you. This is a textbook I will keep since I've referred back to it not just in my work, but in my personal life as well when planning mortgage & other payments. I highly recommend it.

Review of Quantitative Analysis for Business
This book is a must for anyone in the business world. It is a wonderful reference to keep on hand. I rarely refer back to books I have purchased but this book comes in handy time and time again. The mathematical principles explained in this book are simple enough for anyone to understand. Each principle is shown step by step. It shows shortcuts to solving problems with three types of business calculators. This book will be in my library for years to come!!

What a wonderful book!
I knew next to nothing about interest and statistics before reading this book. Mr. Wright has written this book in a very readable, conversational style. As I sat reading it with my trusty business calculator nearby, it felt as if he were sitting across from me explaining things just for me. The text even anticipated many of my questions!

The book begins with little or no assumptions about your exposure to math. It starts with simple interest and how to solve simple formulas. I like the way it presents how to do this with three different calculators. Each chapter built upon the previous chapters so that I grew more confident with each page. Mr. Wright's attempts at humor usually work, which is not what I ordinarily find in books written at a textbook market. In fact, if you are thinking back to how your textbooks used to be, then you are in for a surprise - you really won't mind reading this one! This is not your Daddy's textbook!

This text has a huge number of examples that are worked out in the chapters themselves and then lots of problems afterward.

The statistics portion was also very helpful. I've never been very good at statistics but learned quite a lot from the approach used in this book.

I now know how to calculate house payments, how long it will take to pay off my car, the probability of getting certain poker hands, and the difference between correlation and causation. Wow!

I recommend this book hands down to anyone who wants to understand the math of business and beginning statistics.

Share the Wealth!
How exciting to see the lessons of financial responsibility presented in a family friendly manner! The icing on the cake is the attention to sharing financial resources and taking seriously the welfare of those outside your immeidate family. In a time when kids, and adults, are attracted by How To Be A Millionaire or Homes of the Rich and Famous, the message that financial know how can be used for more than our own personal gain is sorely needed. This book would be good not only for families, but in classrooms and club settings. Well done!

Get Past Your Own Money Paralysis
If you're like me and millions of other parents, aunts, uncles, etc. you don't feel equipped to teach the kids in your life about money because of your own issues. Raising Financially Fit Kids helped me get beyond my money paralysis by encouraging me to realize that it's important to start somewhere, even if it's just with baby steps. The author, Joline Godfrey, reminds us that money is a tool, not an end into itself, to be used to impart the type of values we hope our children will develop during their financial apprenticeship. The content is first rate and the design easy to navigate. I highly recommend it.

Great Help for a "not-so-easy" subject
I not only enjoyed reading the book but found it extremely helpful and fun. As a CPA (money person) I can vouch for how difficult it is to raise fanancial fit kids...not only my client's but my own!!

The book was insightful and well organized. I'm hopeful ...no make that confident it will make a difference in the way my children approach money issues.

Great, Vivid Characters
Rascal Money is truly a hidden treasure, Garber does a much better job of giving us the backgrounds of the characters than he does in Vertical Run. A must read

A hilarious and witty story of a corporate take over
A successful computer manufacturer was enjoying its success when a hostile take ober bid by a Japanese Giant conglomerate took place . The pace of the story quicken as the management of the computer firm tries to rescue the company before the date-line.It was near impossible as their counter parts had thought of every counter measure. The one thing that slipped from their mind tilted the scale . How is for you to find out . Joseph Garber has wriiten another catch - 22 !

A hilarious look at Wall Street - yet a believable one.
A very unnoticed book - a rare treasure, in my opinion. The story follows the rise of a company called "Pegasys", a fledgeling computer company at a time when IBM dominates the computer world. Pegasys, founded by Scott Thatcher, (a man whose character reminds me strangely of another famous American businessman), is able to survive and prosper because at the brink of bankruptcy, one group buys their product - the Teamsters. Follow this book as it goes about sex, lies, and hostile takeovers. (If you read Vertical Run, you'll know who some of the characters are - people you either may have loved or loathed.)

I tell my friends "it's like Chicken Soup for the Wallet"
It's small and handy and I refer to it all the time. I even took down some notes in the margin.

You Get a Good Return on Your Time and Money from This Book!
Nancy Dunnan has taken 300 important and valuable personal finance lessons and made them fun, easy and interesting to read. Although some of these things you know already, it's not a bad idea to be reminded. In other areas, you'll either get new ideas or better ways to implement them.

Here are some of my favorites:

You can save money on international air travel by being an air courier (if you can live with carry-on baggage), and she provides a telephone number to get assignments.

While abroad, use your ATM card to get cash rather than your credit card. The credit card will start charging you interest right away.

To use that ATM card in many countries you need a 4 digit PIN code. Be sure to change to one before you leave home.

On the other hand, buying things abroad with a credit card is a good idea because you get a better exchange rate that way than by converting currency.

Want a beach home? Buy it in January in North America.

There's a service you can contact to find someone to pay your parents' bills when they can no longer do so, and they live far away.

You can save money by letting vines crawl up a trellis rather than your home.

If your bank is taken over by another one, switch your account to a credit union. Fees will be lower, and the rates paid on your savings will be lower.

Shop with 20 friends, and you can probably get extra discounts.

She shows you how to get rid of junk mail.

Be sure to check the register tape at stores that scan items. A 10 percent error rate is not unusual.

If you have student loans, she has lots of information about how to gain advantages in paying them back.

If you are near retirement, she has lots of good data on Social Security and tax issues.

If you take a cruise, be sure to buy any on-board gifts at the end of the trip (big discounts come then).

If you have too much debt, she can point you to those who can help you.

With this book, your money can take you much further. You'll also be proud of yourself for being a more intelligent consumer. So overcome your misconception stalls about how to get the most for your money with this book!

This is quite a valuble source to ANYONE who has or wants $$
Interesting and useful tips that are mostly common sense, but you just don't think about! I recommend getting it and using it as a resource.

The title's kinda selfish
Yeah, poor Mallory, but her poor family too! Dad lost his job and they have eight kids?! Dang.

Extremely wonderful!
Poor Mallory ranks as one of the top five BSC books ever written. It was fabulous. Mallory's father has just lost his job. Mallory tries to help her family out, by forming the Pike club, and baby-sitting as much as she can. She also studies extremely hard, because she feels the need to get straight A's. Soon, a few snobby girls find out about Mallory's father, and make fun of her and her dad. Meanwhile, Mal has taken a daily job at the Delaney's. One problem: the kids are spoiled rotten. They have a real fountain and a $400 cat. With a father out of work, a group of snobs on her case, and two rich kids to baby-sit for, will Mallory be able to handle it all? With the help and support of the BSC, she just might.

A very good book.
I rated "Poor Mallory!" 5 stars because I thought it was great. Mallory's father lost his job and the Pike kids figure out ways to earn money. A lot of other kids teased the Pike kids. Will Mallory's dad find another job? If you want to find out, read "Poor Mallory!"
