The Best Yet !!!
In modeling there is no other book I would have at my desk than the Mechanical Deesktop 3.0 Assembly Modeling Manual from the Technical Learningware Company. The authors really know there stuff.

The most intuitive manual for MDT 3.0 I have seen.
This manual has been the standard for the training that I send all of my employees to and the return on investment cannot be beat.

a sexy, thrilling novel.
Pat Booth does it again with a sexy, thrilling romp about life in the Sin City of the '90s. With plenty of double-dealing rascals and hard-hearted heroines (who always happen to be beautiful), Booth takes us to places we've always wanted to go, and occasionally, to places we'd never want to. The dialogue is as sharp as a scythe. Characters, although glamorous, waver between the self-absorbed and just plain cruel. Although Booth's novel takes us far from reality, isn't that what we most often want a book to do? The perfect escape.

A Must!
For all you Pat Booth fans, Miami is a must. If you loved Palm Beach, then go south to Miami. Pat Booth's ability to articulate in words the sights and sounds, heat and passion of Miami makes this book truly a piece of art. If you can't afford to take that vacation to Florida, then bring Miami to you. You'll be whisked away to a place you'll never want to leave. Enjoy.

Modeling and Role Modeling: A Theory and Paradigm for Nursing
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (January, 1983)
Author: Helen Cook Erickson
Amazon base price: $24.95
Average review score:

Modeling and Role-Modeling Theory of Nursing
This book is essential for anybody interested in learning about the nursing theory, Modeling and Role-Modeling. The content includes rationale for the theory, the underlying assumptions and conceptual bases for the theory, and guidelines for applying the theory. While the original printing was in 1985 and additional research and applications have further developed various parts of the theory, the basic elements of the theory have not changed since its inception. Because this theory is applicable across settings and client populations, it is highly recommended!

Modeling and Role-modeling is available
I believe that this book is the same as Modeling and Role-modeling: A Theory and Paradigm for Nursing by Erickson, Tomlin and Swain. Please see my review of that book for details.

Interesting Reading
A very interesting book on an interesting subject. The mathematic is very easy, the thoughts are not, or at least not always.
For anybody interested in this subject, this is good reading material.

Fun with bounded rationality
This is a terrific book for anyone who wants to know more about tractable ways to relax the usual economist's assumption of perfect rationality. The book is well written and includes some exercises which would lead an ambitious reader to write his own book on the topic. If you are interested in bounded rationality, this is a book you should own.

The most practical book to create multi-namespace models
I just finished reading "Modeling business Objects with XML Schema" for the second time. It is the most useful book on XML modeling that I have read. After defining the ERM and UML modeling techniques, the author introduces AOM (Asset-Oriented Modeling) in a simple and thorough way. The book emphasizes on the best practices for modeling heterogeneous and multi-namespace systems. It emphasizes on the compatibility of the XML Schema with RDF and SQL. The reuse and composition of XML Schemata constitute the main focus of the book. The example given in the book is processed through several iterations and improvements, with complete and clear explanations for improving the XML code. The KLEEN Modeler tool (http://www.aomodeling.org/tools.htm) is used to create the conceptual models throughout the book. Mapping the XML Schema code into SQL, and normalization of the XSD code is clearly defined. The XML metalanguage itself, is concisely and efficiently covered in the book. I highly recommend this book; you learn a lot from this book.

Best book for XML in a corporate environment
This is the best book out there on XML. If you want an intro to XML get Mark Johnson's article "XML for the Absolute Beginner." If you want to go in depth, this is the place to go.

Unlike the hundreds of other books that just describe what XML and XML Schema are, Daum's book gets deeply into why it is the way it is, by exploring how it fits in with conceptual modeling and how you would fit it into a complex environment.

He introduces a beguiling simple example domain (jazz musicians) which he revisits over and over again throughout the book. Through this simple example he works out subtle differences in different approaches to modeling, to schema construction, to constaint definition and modeling and finally how would you map this back to Object or Relational technology.

He introduces Asset Oriented Modeling, which is a form of conceptual modeling more attuned to XML schema model creation. His treatement of polymorphism in Schema, and techniques for evolving schema are as good as I've seen anywhere.

Excellent treatment of constraints, both conceptually as well as practical approaches to realizing the constraints in XPath or XSLT. These were worth the price of the book by themselves.

It's probably too late, but if you get no other book on XML and XML Schemas, this is the one to get.

Basic Armor Modeling
This was the first book I bought when I started modeling 2 years ago, and I still go back to read it some more. The chapters on painting and weathering also appear in his other excellent book, "How to Build Dioramas". You might want to get this instead if you dabble in different types of scale model building. If you're an armor aficionado like I am, this book is a must, even if you already have a few models under your belt. There are lots of helpful tips, especially on scratchbuilding details and accessories. This has been written some time ago, and you may find some of his techniques a bit dated, but this has withstood the test of time gracefully.

Great Book
This book is good for all those people who like to build armor models. It starts with the most basic assembly and then goes into scratch building a must for any new-comer in the world of modeling.

Excellent Book
This is the best book I have seen on the Web and the Internet. It is very thorough and covers topics ranging from Web graphs, to search engines, to customer behavior and ecommerce. It is up to date, well organized. I highly recommend it.

Great book about relevant topic
The internet and the web have become a wonderful field for applying mathematical methods to huge amounts of uncontrolled information. The ultimate contribution of this book, I think, is to present techniques by which results that are meaningful and useful for people -- such as text analysis and categorization, or relevance of web pages, or recommendation systems -- can emerge from the application of cold mathematical formulas. The mathematical tools are not necessarily new and may be hard to follow by non-experts (this is mostly Machine Learning, probability, etc). To fully appreciate the book, one needs to grasp the math, but I think the text is sufficiently interesting so that the book can also be enjoyed by people who don't like to read the math. The book is fairly comprehensive about modeling important processes that happen everyday on the web.

Edward James Olmos (Stand and Deliver actor) says:
"Mudworks Bilingual provides a unique opportunity for children, parents and grandparents to read and create art together without language barriers, bringing familia closer together. I highly recommend it."

MaryAnn Kohl, author, comments::::
The old classic Mudworks is now available in a bilingual edition... Spanish project on the left page, same English project on the right page. Like a butterfly, mirror image. I imagine this art book of clays and doughs breaking through the barriers of language. Afterall, art is a language we ALL speak. I imagine a Spanish speaking gramma and her little English speaking grandchild making playdough together in the kitchen, each reading their own language recipes. I see kids in bilingual classrooms using the translations to check themselves on their command of whatever language is their second language, I dream of Spanish immersion classes using this book to enhance their learning, I hope for mommies and daddies who are speaking English as a second language using this book to help them get through making clays, doughs, and modeling recipes with their kids. And for ME, I just like seeing if I can use the Spanish recipe and make stuff! (with the English back up)

Easy, 160 pages, no expertise necessary.

For reliable, robust real-time systems -- get this book!
A great step-by-step guide to producing reliable, robust, maintainable, working realtime systems effectively.

Not for dimwits and slackers.

For people serious about realime systems that have to make life or death decisions minute after minute, hour after hour, year after year.

Should be on the main reference shelf of every one who develops such systems!

This is the best book on software development ever written.
I teach the Shlaer Mellor methodology to high school students, as an independent study seminar. My typical student knows the basics of programming, but has no industrial experience, and has not developed any software engineering skills. By the time they finish their projects, they are generally ready to work in industry.

My first student developed an ecosystem simulation. The finished product contained approximately 10,000 lines of C++ code, and had 3-post integration bugs, all of which were easily fixed.

If you want to develop first-rate, bug free software, follow the guidlines in this book.

Excellent starter book!!
This book is well written. The examples are light, excellent, and easy to understand. The authors take you step by step to give the reader an excellent foundation for this subject. This is a great book to keep as a reference, in terms of brushing up on the fundamentals of the Object-Oriented Approach to programming.

At last,a book on OOT that people can understand!
If you were allowed only one book to read as a Primer on the Object-oriented approach, this is it. Well-written, excellent use of examples, and a logical step-by-step approach that slowly reveals the "magic" behind OOT. Techno-geeks may find this book a bit too elementary...for the rest of us, it is a welcome treatment. My only criticism is that this team hasn't written more books...how about one on CORBA!?
