This book presents the basic concepts of continuum mechanics. The material is presented in a tensor invariant form with a large number of problems with solutions. The book integrates the use of the computer algebra system Mathematica, and contains a large number of programs on the disk that will help clarify the concepts of continuum mechanics.(taken from the author)

i thought it was a good book to start the installation, but i didnt understand a lot of things and they seem to be too geeky to explain, and so i just installed linux instead.

The darn book only goes up to chapter 9! From vectors and on you on your own, ::sigh::

This book is quite helpful in understanding the theory behind splines as well as algorithms that can be easily coded up. Multiple variants of spline algorithms are discussed and analyzed quite thoroughly. The book is, however, racked with many errors making it unsuitible for teaching yourself the material. Also the authors seemed to create the own notations that are quite different than those presented by others such as Gallier and deBoor. They also assume that you have a firm understanding in vector calculus and linear algebra. All in all, not a bad book assuming descent mathematical background and the extensive erratta sheet that I'm sure someone has compiled.

Although this book has some helpful hints and suggestions, it was really too vague to use as a guide. I thought It should contain some sort of detailed directions on how to get started in the industry, but it simply fell flat. I would not recommmend it.

I would not reccoment this book to people who know about the field of acting. This book has many errors and some information is skewed and can easily be mis interpreted from the truth. This book is packed with usable information but I have found that there are many other books that provide the info in a better manner.

Don't get me wrong, this book is an excellent reference. However, if one is trying to learn probability and probabilistic modeling, it's not the best book out there. The inherent difficulty is that it assumes a thorough knowledge of complex analysis and abstract algebra. It seems to me, that by the time a student has encountered these courses, they have a reasonable grounding in probability theory.

I am a student at university in turkey. I am studying an engineering. Iam 20 years old.

The book is supposed to serve as a guide to users of the LISREL program. I did not quite like the book because I am a fresh user to the program and the book does not take you step by step to what is required in doing structural equation modeling. this book assume that the reader has an understanding of statistical techniques involved. the book is good for the examples they give which are found in the program itself and the detail they provide on the syntax of using the LISREL program.
