Working with the development of indices/indicators for sustainability and structural diversity of forests, I find this little book highly inspiring. Wanting to use some of the metrics that are implemented in e.g. Fragstats and r.le for GRASS - it was nice to find out that someone had already taken a critical view into the opportunities and pitfalls of this approach. The disadvantages of the "contagion" and "fractal dimension" indices are demonstrated be use of diffent land cover data sets derived from Remote Sensing sources, mostly Landsat TM. Two new metrics are proposed, and (small wonder) they are demonstrated to work much better than contagion and f.d. It is nice to see a book that really focuses on a specific subject, although it would have been nice with a review of some more indices and a discussion of other ways to evaluate landscape structure from RS (and GIS) data.

This book is the combination of "Sculpture for Beginners" and "Scuplturing with Wax". The anatomy is dealt with very tastfully, mostly using skelital and muscular charts. One female torso is developed. I enjoyed it for its attention to detail in both the text and pictures. The extensive content spans these 18 chapters:

Spice is a software package that become a de facto standar in circuit simulation. But as in any other circuit simulator we need to define the accurate input model to get the accurate results. And this book describe in more detail the components that is used in almost any electronic circuit, i.e. semiconductor devices. The value that is a credit point for this book is not just how detail the description of the semiconductor model is in order to get the accurate parameters but also how to use those parameters in Spice. So, for you who new to this circuit simulator there is no need to worry because this book explain how the circuit model is built using Spice. And for you who need the basic theory of semiconductor model the book gives two nice appendices on that one. One chapter that is need to be explored in more detail is about noise and distortion (hopefully in the next edition the editor could have more on that topic). Finally, this is a "must be read" book for you who want to get excellent results in modelling electronic circuit.

Namun secara umum berlaku pula bahwa untuk menghasilkan simulasi rangkaian elektronik secara akurat dibutuhkan parameter-parameter yang akurat pula untuk setiap modelnya. Buku ini memberikan ulasan mendalam tentang parameter-parameter bagi pemodelan device semikonduktor. Kelebihan yang dimiliki buku ini tidak hanya pada bagaimana penghitungan dan pengukuran parameter untuk model tersebut tetapi bagaimana menggunakannya pada simulasi rangkaian menggunakan SPICE. Bagi Anda yang baru mendalami spice jangan khawatir karena buku ini juga memberikan ulasan tentang sistem pemodelan dalam spice. Sebaliknya bagi anda yang baru dalam pemodelan semikonduktor buku ini juga memberikan apendiks tentang teori dasar semikonduktor. Satu hal yang mungkin perlu dibahas lebih mendalam adalah tentang Nose dan Distorsi (mudah-mudahan dalam edisi berikutnya materi ini dapat lebih dikembangkan). This book will help you design simulations. It doesn't take you trough the design on the simulation, but rather help you apply certain algorithms to your simulations. If you know simulations and require help in coding Mathematica, this book is for you.

I used to use ModSim by CACI on NeXT machine. Now CACI have the easier and PC-compatible, called SimProcess. This book is not only about Simulation sytem, but the great SimProcess user manual. This book is actually a geneal book of Simulation, not a Risk analysis or elses. CD-ROM, come with this book, is the SimProcess. Buy one get another free. But the software can be downloaded from the company website.

THis book deal comprehensively about stochastic process and queues. The book starts with refreshing probability theory. It has indepth details about renewal theory, explanation of renewal theorems & regenerative processes. Examples for those processes are also well said. Then the book turns its attention to Discrete Time Markov Chains and has carried out indepth explanation for DTMC with suitable examples and the excercises are really a fun to solve. Then the author turns his attention to Continuous TIme Markov Process and explains in detail about CTMC with examples. Queueing theory is dealt with by giving treatment to Markovian queues first, then to M/G/1, G/M/1 and G/G/1. Also queues in tandem are well discussed.

This book is a wonderful guide to understanding a good range of basics about sem, getting models to work with Amos, and interpreting your output. You will need to be familiar with one of the stats packages that Amos is compatible with. Very much user-friendly in this complicated topic. All of the statistically-related and theory-related aspects are well-referenced, so you can find sources to reference for different aspects of sem. A great book to fill the gap between the Amos user's manual and books on sem in general. (contact Erlbaum about educ pricng.)

Barbara Byrne manages to make a very complicated topic seem manageable and understandable. This book is ideal for people familiar with the basics of psychology statistics, but relatively new at structural equation modeling. My only complaints are that the index is a bit sparse, so I found myself thumbing through the book frequently; and sometimes the details of how to apply the concepts directly to EQS commands were left a bit unclear. However, overall this was an excellent starter book for structural equation newbies!

The book is best at presenting the theory and has excellent discussions of advanced estimation issues. The book, however, is not as useful in conveying the nuts and bolts of how to use LISREL.
