Delightful and refreshing
Scotland Yard's Inspector Witherspoon is wealthy; lives in a luxurious townhouse in London, and his peers respect him and are in awe of his talent of always solving homicide cases assigned to him. People, including the inspector don't realize that his household staff, who care and love him and love being in on the chase, help him find the clues that will lead him to the killer.

His latest case is very perplexing. The Reverend Jasper Claypool who has been in India for ten years has returned to England only to be killed the very same day. None of his heirs claim they have heard from him and a note in the Vicar's handwriting leads them to an abandoned cottage where the body of a woman was been placed in the chimney ten years ago. Both Witherspoon and his house staff are convinced the two are related but to solve this case will take all the resources they can muster and then some.

MRS. JEFFRIES SWEEPS THE CHIMNEY is a delightful and refreshing amateur sleuth tale that relies on cerebral reasoning to solve the case. Witherspoon's staff acts like a tightly knit family who will go to any lengths to see their employer recognized as a hero in the eyes of his supervisors. Emily Brightwell can always be counted on to keep her audience entertained with her witty and upbeat mysteries.

Educational and interesting!
This story starts out with a girl named Morgan, a girl not very high on the social ladder at school. Then she meets this cute guy named Cal. He seems really cool and everything, but he has a secret. He practices Wicca, a type of witchcraft. One night, Morgan decides to partake in the "circle" with Cal. After all, she really wanted him to like her, or just accept her for that matter. But what she doesn't know is how much that night will effect her life. She has a powerful, out of this world experience that will change her forever. She sees things, feels things in a new way. She can do powerful things, magical things that normal people can't do. And it's something she never prepared for. I highly recommend anyone to pick up this book. You get to learn a lot about the Wiccan culture as well as a great story to go along with it.

Very Engrossing
Morgan, the average teenage wallflower, average looks, no bust and very shy. That is until Cal Blaire shows up, Cal is good looking charming and every girl wants to get close to him. Cal introduces Morgan into a world of wicca and Magick. Morgan's crush on Cal causes a rift between her and her best friend Bree. Will things ever be the same?

A real page turner, definitely worth reading for anyone who's into wicca and the supernatural.

Stunning Book
Morgan Rowlands is your typical teenage girl, worrying about her looks, and grades. She feels like she's plain and boring unlike her best friend Bree Warren who is the exampler of female beauty. Morgan's 17, nd she's never had a boyfriend, and she feels like she never will. Then this amazingly cute boy named Cal enrolls in her high school, and she can't stop thinking about him. Then she finds out that he and his mother are wiccan. Morgan decides to attend one of Cal's circles and immediately feels a connection to Wicca. Then people keep saying that she is a blood witch, but how can that be? Then both of her parents start freaking out that she's studying wicca. What is it they are hiding from her?
This is one of the best books ever!

Hunter
This book, for the very first time in the SWEEP series, is from the point of view of Hunter, Morgan's boyfriend.
Hunter is desperate to find his father, whom he hasn't seen since he was eleven years old. He has heard from his cousin Sky that she suspects that they are in Quebec, Canada. Leaving Morgan, reluctantly, he travels to Quebec and asks around for him. He finally finds his father who is in a pathetic state after loosing his wife, hunter's mother, Fiona. He is living on his own and is depressed and weak. Of course, Hunter stays to comfort his dad. After a while, he discovers that his father is using dark magick to stay in contact with Fiona, and it is seriously weakening him, and he is not allowing Fiona's spirit to move on.
Hunter's mentor, Kennet Muir, sends him off on a seeker mission to find a girl who is writing down the true names of things. And, as we know from Changeling, if you have the true name of someone or something, then that gives you power over them. Since she is writing it on paper, if the wrong person got ahold of the list, then it could be very dangerous.

VERY good book. Especially since it is from Hunter's point of view which is new, and you get to see how Hunter feels about things. And you finally realize that despite the fact that he is always serious around Morgan, he is more teenagerish and less seekerish in his thoughts. Especially about Morgan. Can't wait until the next book comes out!!!!

-great book-
Book number 10-Seeker was great. It is from Hunter's point of view, which is cool for a change. It's neat to see things from his perspective. Anyways, Hunter is on a mission to find his dad whom he hasn't seen in eleven years. He reluctantly leaves Morgan behind, but he needs to find his father. When he does find his father, his father isn't in good shape. His father is obsessed with contacting his dead wife, and can't seem to stop. Then Hunter is sent by his mentor, Kennet Moir, to investigate a woman named Justine Courceau who is collecting the true names of things, including people. (which is bad because when the person has an object's true name, they have control over the object) Justine seems nice, but Hunter can't let her keep the list of true names. Between Hunter's father and Justine, Hunter has some stuff to deal with. All in all, it was cool to have Hunter's view on things for a change, as I said before.

The whole series is really good for anyone who is interested in a mixture of fantasy/Wicca. I have read all of the books out, and I can't wait for the next book to come out! Anybody who likes books like the Sweep series should also read : the Daughters of the Moon series, and the Witches Chillers series

Three Words Why This Book Rocks: Hunter's View Point
I LOVE Hunter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he was a real person Lord knows what I'd do lol. Hunter has finally located his father, and when Morgan realizes he'll be gone for weeks, she makes a big step in her life. . . Except Hunter pauses, much to his own regret, and the plan isn't all followed through.
Hunter is disappointed when he finds his father, weak and unhealthy, but when he finds out tragic news he is tempted to return home. The Council takes advantage of the cool Seeker's positioning to send him on a mission to investigate a young witch who has been collecting the true names of things and people. It is this witch who will cause him to betray Morgan . . . I really would like to tell you, but I wouldn't want to spoil it, would I. Let's just say I literally threw the book at the wall once I found out what he did, then picked it up and tried to continue several times but again threw it and nearly ripped the book apart in utter frustration. The library, I believe, was not happy. READ THIS BOOK. HUNTER ROCKS. His thoughts are much less infuriatingly collected and calm. Come on, you know you want to. This was my favorite book in the series, besides the one about Morgan's daughter.

Another good book from the series...
I thought this was a good book. ... I thought it was really interesting. It starts on how Alisa doesn't like her future stepmother and her uncontrollable telekenisis. She decides she wants to find out more of her mother's family(since they are witches.)She discovers new things about her family and she sorta finds peace after what she finds. Also a man enters her life,Charlie.

Now it's Alisa's Turn
Alisa now knows that she is a witch, that she has telekinetic powers, and that she has other family, including an uncle, that she never knew about. When things at home get too tense with her stepmother-to-be, Alisa runs away to visit her newly discovered family.

Things become weird almost from the start. Her uncle is friendly, her grandmother seems surly, and Alisa seems to be falling for her cousin's boyfriend. To top it of, a family ghost seems to be becoming far more active and dangerous.

Alisa must show courage and strength in order to deal with her new family, her old family, her new powers, and the secrets behind the ghost.

A wonderful story which stands apart from the Morgan/Hunter main storyline, but one that ultimately leaves the reader wanting an extra chapter. As the story reaches its conclusion, we don't find out how things really turn out. We suspect how they do, but the book and the series conclude without any more information. Maybe there will be another Super Edition that will finish things up (or maybe a spin-off series?)

Anyway, a fine book about courage, strength and self-discovery.

Such a great addition to the series!
This was definitely one of the best books yet. I think it is great that Cate lets Alisa share the limelight with Morgan and it's very refreshing to hear everything through her POV for a change, we need a break of Morgan and Hunter. I thought that the whole story was really sweet and the story between her and Charlie was great! You fall in love was Charlie as she does! What a shame they live so far apart! I would easily and quickly give this book 5 stars and 10 out of 10 because it is alot lighter than most of the books in the series and this makes it stand out because it is so refreshingly different from the rest.

good but not brill
I think this book was good but not as good as the others. In this book a lot of strange things start to happen like books flying around and light bulbs popping.Huter has dinner at morgans at the start of the book so that he can be intreduced to her parents properly and it really sweat in a corny sort of way.
morgan falls out with mary.k. after she tells herabout how cal and selen really died.A woman called Erin who works for the concil comes from England to help Morgan with magickal defences. She thinks its Morgan who is causing all the strange stuff to happen, and as a result of this Morgan gets her powers dulled so that they can cheak. There isn't a lot of hunter in this book mainly because he thinks the strange things that are happening are messages from his parent so he is off trying to prove it, and because Morgan gets grounded for her poor grades. Her parents also threten to send her to a catholic school. What happens next . . . .?
If you want to know then your going to have to read it.Its not my fave sweep book, but its a good read, well worth the money.Expeshily if you are planing to read the rest of the series.!

What's happening to Morgan?
Morgan's life is very similar in Strife as it was in the last book in the series. Her grades are horrible, her powers are strong but she needs to learn control, and her relationship with her parents are weak. In this book these few problems spin out of control. Morgan knows her father, Ciaran, is out there and even though the council is following him she still needs to protect herself. Hunter sets her up with a teacher that will show her out to protect herself and control her magic when strange things start to happen. Things fly everywhere, books, papers, anything at all, around Morgan. Morgan can feel that she's not doing it but who else could it be? Her father? Or someone else.

TO complicate things further her parents, who have never really approved of her studying Wicca, find out about her horrible grades at school. They blame the thing that has taken up so much time in her life, Wicca. Morgan knows they are right but she cannot let go of being a witch, it's a part of her. The problem is her parents don't understand that. And if the strange power around her doesn't kill her first, she may be taken away from everything she knows.

I found Strife to be an entertaining edition of the series. Like all of the books it was suspenseful, magickal, and a page turner. The problem was their was really no mystery in it. It was a tad bit predictable. But the great storyline nearly makes up for it. If you love the Sweep Series I recommend this book to you. I can't wait till the next one comes out!

Not the Best in the Series
I can only degrade this book to four stars, even though it was my least favorite along with the 11th one (somehow I couldn't bring myself to read anything but the prologue and the epilogue.)

Things in this book are started off by a tense boyfriend-meets-parents dinner, where Mary K discovers that Morgan hasn't exactly been telling her the whole truth. Alisa Soto has a problem with Morgan's powers and blames her for the things going wrong. Morgan's parents are deeply upset about her grades. The coven may be endangered. . . Because of Morgan's birth father. Can the trouble be fixed? Will Morgan's dearest friends ever trust her completely again?
