This is a good conclusion to the trilogy.
John Dalmas is a master story teller and the trilogy that began with "The Lion of Farside" is his best. This part of the trilogy takes place mostly in Yuulith, as did the first novel, and wraps up the loose ends left when Curtis Macurdy returned to our earth at the conclusion of the first novel. The second novel, "The Bavarian Gate," was my personal favorite because it took place in our world and centered around how Curtis used the powers and skills he learned in Yuulith. "The Lion Returns" resolves the conflict with the Voitu whom Curtis met beyond the cross-dimensional gate in Bavaria. This is a good conclusion to the trilogy, every bit as good as the first novel. I read the book in one sitting, all 460 pages.

Market Structure and Foreign Trade: Increasing Returns, Imperfect Competition, and the International Economy

Unavoidable
If you want an introduction to international economics this book is not what you would want. If, on the other hand, you need both the key concepts of classical trade theory and a comprehensive overview of the issues of new trade theory, all nice and neat in unified notation, this book is a must.

Gripping story with believable undertones
Another of author, Dick Holt's, gripping and compelling novels. Each one is better than the last - which is saying alot since I can't seem to put any of them down once I start reading.
This story in particular would make an incredible movie- the SFO (which is quite believable seeing how much insurance and health care companies are pushing for vaccinations these days - when you vaccinate for everything, why wouldn't a strain appear that's not susceptible to any vaccinations?) Add the hero (as seen in Dick Holt's previous works) and the heartwrenching experiences of Europe in the WWII era, complete with local depictions. You feel like you are part of the story as well. Great book -looking forward to the next one!

Excellent
We always wish Author Conan Doyle had written more Sherlock Holmes stories. These two titles, "The Return of Moriarty" and "The Revenge of Moriarty" are more than welcome additions. From the addition of new characters, to the language and "feel" of the Victorian era, these titles are more than adequate additions to your Sherlock Holmes library. There has been so many cheap attempts by other authors over the years to capture the Conan Doyle style, that I had almost given up. Although these titles are out of print, they CAN be found. Luckily my daughter made me take her to a flea market to look for "beanie babies", and I came across these two jewels for only a quarter! Amazon offers to look for them for you and I have no idea what the price may be. If you are a true Sherlock Holmes fan like me, it makes no difference!

Return to Free Market Economics?
Published in Hardcover by Holmes & Meier Publishers, Inc. (June, 1978)
Author: John Jewkes
Amazon base price: $32.50
Average review score:

The darkest hour is just before the dawn.
Published on the eve of Mrs. Thatcher's election as British Prime Minister in 1979, this collection of papers by John Jewkes published between 1939 and 1978 stands as a free market beacon against the forces of collectivist darkness which had subsumed Britain especially from the onset of world war two.

Jewkes, along with a mere handful of others, held their ground aginst these forces, holding firm to a belief in people, that is a belief in the free market. It is hard to imagine in these days what it was like to live in the People's Republic of Great Britain in the post-war period, where the commanding heights of the economy had been overcome by the onslaught of government troops. The vast majority of economists, well meaning folks I am sure were the high priests of the new religion of planning, believing as they did in the New Jerusalem of steady growth and no unemployment.

Jewkes stood against the tide of the new paradigm and continued to harrass the enemy with the odd skirmish as contained in these writings. Today, some consider the battle to be won, that free markets rule, but more wiser heads see that progress has been made on the battlefield but the war is not yet over. The subjects of these essays have much contemporary relevance, and rereading them today reminds us that we should always be on our guard against erosion of our freedoms and against the return of the dark lords of planning.

Highly recommended!

You're missing out if you have not read this book!!
Lord of the Rings reads like one very long book that the reader finds themselves unable to put down. It goes without saying that you must read "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers" before you read this one. This, the third segment, is the climax to what the other two stories built up. This was astonishingly real for a book about wizards, hobbits and elves and I loved it. It is the only book that I have ever found myself crying when it was over. It was a sad sort of ending, (I won't spoil it), but it wasn't because of that. These vivid characters whom I had come to know and love for the months that it took me to go through "The Hobbit" and the other Lord of the Rings books were abandoning me. They would go on with their lives and have glorious new adventures of which I could not be a part of...I miss Sam most of all. The afterward of this book is a gem as well, since you can learn to read and write in Elvish and in runes, and find out histories and afterwards behind the epic. This is a must read for anybody. You are missing out if you do not read this. (And I might add that if you haven't, you are among a shrinking number of people, since the series continues only to grow in popularity.)

A Climactic Conclusion to the Trilogy
the Return of the King concludes the exciting story of the fellowship of the ring. It offers more excitement and suspense as well as several surprises. Tolkien consistently stretches the reaches of imagination, and he always provides logic and reason so that his story makes sense and follows a consistent stream of creativity.

As I read the rings trilogy, I found that it was helpful to have seen to the movies to help picture the events, characters, and surroundings. Of course, the movies made much more sense after reading the books, but I found reading the books more enjoyable than the movies. I am really glad that I decided to read them at a friend's suggestion. The Return of the King offers much more than the movie version. There is much more to the story here that the movie did not reveal, so readers will be very pleased to find additional events. Additionally, the book takes different turns than the movie. Tolkien offers characters that inspire, teach, warn, and revulse the reader due to their goodness or evil. This book involves romance as well. One of my favorite characters is Faramir. He is revealed as a warrior and leader possessing great integrity and courage.

In this book, Tolkien reveals the true character of the King as a healer as well as a fighter and leader. This book has all of the insight into human behavior and personality as do Shakespeare's plays. I was sorry to reach the end of it. It was as entertaining a book as I have read.

Tolkien is an excellent writer. This book along with the others is intelligently written. It is not just kid's stuff. It is stimulating reading.

He tells a great story filled with complex characters and plots. The story follows a logical and understandable path that sparks the readers full imagination and range of emotions.

There is no let up in the action at all in the concluding book and like the others there are surpises around every turn.

If you liked the movie at all, you will indeed enjoy the book, especially if your one criticism of the movie is that it didn't make sense. The book will fill in the gaps and will cause you to appreciate the movie much more.

The Return of the King book review
In an epic conclusion to the Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King seizes you by the hand and guides you on a mystical journey filled with laughter, sadness, courage and some of the best descriptions ever in a book.

As the hobbits Frodo and Sam continue their treacherous journey deep into the foul land of Mordor, their fellow members of the fellowship (of the ring) hasten to aid Minas Tirith, Gondor's chief city and defense against Mordor, from the bound to be invasion by Sauron, the evil Dark Lord of Mordor.

Fate seems inevitable for Middle-earth, with Frodo and Sam being the last hope; to destroy the "one" ring of Sauron's power. To do this they must reach the heart of Morder, Mount Doom, and destroy the ring in the awesome "furnace" that once had created it, though the closer they get, the more powerful the ring becomes and Frodo's will starts to break down. Frodo and Sam must be wary of their furtive guide Gollum, who is the only one available through which they can find their way.

Back in Gondor, things are looking very bleak until Aragorn, the newfound king, returns with an undead army to re-conquer Minas Tirith from Mordor's wicked army. In a last ditch effort to reach Mount Doom, Frodo and Sam stagger to the imposing mountain past orcs, Gollum who betrayed them, and numerous other hurdles in their quest. Gollum plays a vital role in the destruction of the ring in the end, and Sauron falls.

In his third book of the series, Tolkien wonderfully concludes this magnificent story of fantasy and wonder. This is a very well written book, and I strongly recommend it to everyone.

A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles

A wonderful testimony of the power of A Course in Miracles
The Spirit had prompted me to buy A Course in Miracles three years before I read Marianne's book Return to Love. However, the Course was like Greek to me so I let it sit on the shelf. Sometimes when I passed by that shelf it felt like the book was trying to jump into my arms. I keep saying to myself, "later, I'll read it later." Then in 1993 after reading Marianne's account of the Course's message I thought, "If she can do it, I can do it." She helped me believe I could understand the Course. I decided then that even if it took the rest of my life, I would never stop trying. Well I'm happy to say that it didn't take my whole life. I can now read and understand the Course myself. It has saved my life!!!! I am eternally grateful for Marianne's courageous example. Thank you Marianne!!!!!

This book is truly a gift . . .
I was given a copy of A Return to Love by an acquaintance. She was a woman in the healing field, and I was seeing her due to dealing with an illness that left me disabled for many years. After I read this book and returned it to it's owner, it wasn't until years later, after having my heart severly broken, that I went to pick up a copy of it for myself.

This book describles in a perfectly understable, warm, and sometimes humerous voice, what The Course in Miracles is all about. I must admit, I never heard of The Course in Miracles, and as of present, I just ordered a copy of it for myself and started reading it.

Since The Course is such a technical book (and probably the most difficult to understand next to the Holy Bible), Ms. Williamson helps us out a little with outlining the basic principles and ideas of The Course in Miracles.

Whether you're problem is in the area of God, love and relationships, self-esteem and self-love, money, illness . . . she touches upon them all.

Just recently, I've begun to listen to some of Marianne Williamson's audio tapes, which are based on her many lectures around the world. I must say she is a captivating, charming woman who radiates intelligence and warmth -- not to mention her wonderful sense of humor. I just get such comfort from her . . . her tapes, and this book in particular. This is one of those books that you can read again and again, and continue to gain insight and peace from it.

It's wonderful to have such people as Marianne Williamson bring her messages of love and peace to the people, and helping us look at ourseves and God in a different light.

This is a MUST for anyone on a spiritual journey. My only complaint is that Marianne Williamson doesn't write enough books.

Pursues the spiritual, without alienating the personal.
A book called "A Course In Miracles" is unique in it's degree of wisdom. But, people sometimes experience it as an affront to their current belief system.Though it's authors have great wisdom, they didn't master 'people skills'.The book can leave some wondering "This isn't a cult thing, is it?".Because, the 'high and lofty' ideals can feel "too good to be true".That's where "A Return To Love" comes in.Marianne Williamson brings these high and lofty ideals 'down to earth'.In ACIM, the 'personality/individuality/emotion' element is nowhere near as well represented as the 'spirit/God' element is.But when your 'personal/individual/emotional' side is included equally well, the void and alienation feeling disappears. This is the strength of this book.It presents the 'spiritual/love/God' ideals, whilst successfully making your 'individuality' not feel like a 2nd class citizen.Respect to both aspects of existence is given(Which is not to say that ACIM intended for your individual self to be left out.No, it's merely a communication gap that the author didn't quite account for.A gap which this book succeeds in bridging).
M.Williamson is the mediator between ACIM ideals and the majority population.Only a minority of people could go 'straight to' ACIM.Because of "A Return To Love", many people who initially felt ACIM to be in competition with their own wisdom, will now realize that it is no threat.Williamson is a 'people person' whose book is an invaluble option/addition to "A Course In Miracles".

"Positive thinking" really is neither 'positive' nor 'negative'.It is 'truthful' thinking.Williamson shows her faith in this fact via her sombre expression on the cover photo. She is well aware that 'love' equally accompanies our sad emotions as it does our happy ones. She does away with the 'sentimental' definition of peace and harmony, replacing it with a permanently helpful 'unconditional' definition.
In closing: This author brings a very lofty and intellectual piece of work down to earth, in a very compassionate expression, making it easier to relate to.Nulifying the fear factor of such far-reaching ideals.Beautiful stuff!

This has to be the best Star Trek novel ever written.
The way this book started was magneficent. It picked up rightafter the end of The Ashes of Eden. Once again William Shatner hasmade another best seller hit. This novel was action throughout the whole book. The idea of the Borg and Romulans forming a treaty is almost terrifying. The excellent explantion about transwarp and transwarp conduits blew my mind. The deceitfulness of Kirk was unnerving. The humor with Dr. McCoy was enough to make a Vulcan laugh. The intergrity and the ability James Kirk possesed was brilliant. there right when they say it's the return of Capt. Kirk as only William Shatner can tell it. Who else would no so much and would be able to create such a masterpiece. This book is without a doubt the most well comprised Star Trek book in history.

"Star Trek: The Return" promises excitement and delivers!
William Shatner's second foray into the world of Star Trek novels promises excitement and adventure, and it does deliver. The story, which centers itself upon the unforseen resurrection of James Kirk, following the events of the motion picture STAR TREK: GENERATIONS, is told with brilliance, tension and excitement. The unique method of Kirk's resurrection is told in exquisite detail, capturing the ambience and confusion of his reanimation, and any story involving the Borg (including this one) always delivers intrigue and excitement.

Shatner manages to draw in a larger reader base by incorporating the characters of not one, but three Star Trek series into this plot. Characters from Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation are featured prominently and minor roles are given to characters from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The effect is a harmonious mixture of familiar characters and their believable interactions throughout the dangers presented in the story.

Shatner's premise is unique: The Borg have returned, in alliance with the Romulan Empire. Together, they revive Kirk and use him as pawn to facilitate the destruction of the Federation. The plot thickens as Kirk is determined to kill Picard, Picard believes that Ambassador Spock has betrayed the Federation and Riker questions Picard's possible reassimilation into the Borg Collective.

The events chronicled in THE RETURN make for an exciting story for novice Star Trek fans, but long time fans will be disappointed in the believability of this story. (Yes, even Star Trek fans may find some things unbelievable!) The concept of Borg allying themselves with any race is unheard of, and the method of Kirk's ressurrection will make even the most stoic Star Trek fan cringe in disbelief. The grandiose ending of the story provides for an exciting climax, though the setting of the ending again takes away from the believability. Shatner's forte is his ability to grasp the nuances of the interactions between Kirk and his old and new friends, Spock and McCoy and even Captain Picard. In short, the dialogue is convincing and the action is exciting, although the plot is a bit extreme.

However, with a healthy dose of "Suspension of Disbelief" any Science Fiction fan, Star Trek or otherwise, will find this novel an entertaining and diverting piece of action literature, with dialogue convincing enough to have been written by the Paramount studio writers themselves.

It's Too Late Now
This is the story should have been used for the movie after Generations. It is superior to First Contact on all counts.

Just like Kirk is the only person capable of saving the entire universe, he was also the only person capable of saving the Star Trek franchise. It's a shame it's too late for that now. Enjoy Enterprise while it last.
