Engine Builder's Handbook
Having rebuilt three of my own engines over the last year, I was looking for hints and tips to improve my results and to raise my skill level. From the very beginning of the book, Monroe's attention to detail and common sense approach has done just that for me. This book is worth reading by anyone who has an interest in engines and rereading before any engine rebuild. I highly recommend it.

New Wrencher to Old Hand a must have...
This is a very good book and the further I read into it the more excited it became. The amount of detail inspires, and for anyone that bleeds 40 weight, this book is a library must add.

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
THIS IS A BOOK THAT CAN BE REREAD MANY TIMES. THE AUTHOR KNOWS OF WHAT HE SPEAKS. THE MATERIAL IS VERY COMPLETE. I LEARN SOMETHING EVERY TIME I REFER TO THIS BOOK. HAVING ATTENDED NUMEROUS SEMINARS AND SCHOOLS ON ENGINE BUILDING I USE THIS BOOK CONSTANTLY.

Well, she's finally done it! Beverly DeJulio, known to millions for her PBS show, HandyMa'am(TM) with Beverly DeJulio, has written a book for every would-be handywoman (or handyman!). Having learned home repair through personal trial and error, DeJulio feels that anyone who can operate a hand mixer in the kitchen can learn to be equally at ease using a power drill. With her trademark humor, DeJulio describes such basics as fixing a leaky faucet, installing a ceiling fan, hanging wallpaper, fixing broken screens and windows, replacing a shower head, and installing a basic security system, along with dozens of other practical home projects for the do-it-yourselfer at any skill level. Also included are the five things DeJulio feels every woman should know how to fix, ideas for involving children in household projects (and ways to keep them creatively occupied while you are trying to get some handy work done), safety tips, and advice on assembling a toolbox. This is a great confidence builder for the beginner and a helpful reminder for the more experienced handy person. Written in a light, conversational style with lots of humor and many asides, this is a perfect gift for a new homeowner or anyone starting out in their first home or apartment who needs the basics of common household repair and maintenance. --Mark A. I love to do it myself
This book was great it showed me how.I am a single man and live alone I started doing everything myself ever since I bougnt the book Fabrique Technique. That book showed me how easy it really is I went to a fabric store and picked all my fabrics out. 1.2.3 doing it yourself is better that calling a designer and having the house look like them Thank you

Easy to understand instructions
I think this book is really good for anyone who wants to try some do it yourself projects. The instructions are really easy to understand and very step-by step.

the best how-to home improvement book I've read!
Beverly DeJulio really knows how to write directly to someone like me. I was always intimidated by certain how-to projects, but after reading Beverly's book, I felt empowered enough to try my very first how-to project, and now I'm going to do more and more projects in the book.

Beemer Maintenance Guide for Do-It-Yourselfers
No manual can be all things to all home mechanics, but the Haynes manual comes close. A five-scale degree-of-difficulty rating for every task tells the reader if their reach is greater than their grasp. So even if your not going to install new pistons, or just change the engine oil, the Haynes book makes great reading for the rider who wants to understand more about that shiny new Beemer in their driveway. For whatever tasks you choose, read thoroughly before opening your toolbox. To do something as straighforward as changing front brake pads requires reading sections from two different chapters, plus a listing of torque settings at yet another page. It saves ink and paper, but not your time.

An absolute must have for boxer owners
This book is a must have for BMW boxer owner, even if you don't plan on doing a lot of maintenance on yourself. It goes into complete tear-down and rebuild (God forbid I would attempt such a thing on my own!) so you can look through what your local dealer will be doing to your machine and you don't: 1. look like a dork when they talk to you about some maintenance procedures 2. get embezzeled by one of those crook-type mechanics.

Don't get me wrong - there is some stuff even the most unexperienced mechanic can take care of in this book. It covers the steps of all recommended maintenance schedules and a lot of these steps anybody can do. But it goes into much more detail also.

A well-written manual for the BMW motorcycle
Let me start by saying that I've got a 1999 R1100RT and this manual is applicable to my bike as well. I'm not the most mechanically-minded bike owner out there, but this book has great pictures and descriptions that have helped me ease my fears and tackle a few basic tasks (so far). Individual operations are rated on a 1 - 5 scale of difficulty, and tool requirements are clearly spelled out. I regularly check several BMW-related web sites, and they strongly recommend this book also (which is how I found it).

Given that the BMW Shop Manual is over $100, I figured that I'd try this one first. Now that I've received and read it, I see no need to spend the extra $$$ - this manual covers all the stuff I'm likely to attempt on my bike (and a lot more).

All I Ever Needed to Know About Fuel Systems
This book was very helpful in explaining everything I needed to know about how carburetors and fuel injection systems work. I'm not a mechanic; I just like to understand mechanical systems. Fairly well written, although a bit stiff; some of the descriptions are hard to follow (how the fuel tracks through the various parts of the carburetor) and the photos and drawings didn't help much to understand what happens inside these mysterious devices.

Also, it's really too bad the book wasn't printed on some higher-quality paper. The telephone-book-type paper it was printed on resulted in very poor quality photos, graphs and drawings.

I also could have done without the detailed description of various brands of carburetors. But, all things considered, a nice job and I don't regret my purchase.

must have knowledge
A concise breakdown of the theory and construction of motorcycle fuel systems.I must say that I gained an awful lot of practical knowledge, and educated more than one motorcycle "know-it-all".Highly recomended.

All I ever wanted to know about my carb intake....
Picture this: Spend a three day weekend stripping, cleaning, polishing and replacing hard to find parts on a 1979 motorcycle, it's finally back together!! Some fresh clean fuel, choke & ignition on, and ... it doesn't start.

This book is a must have for motorcycle enthusiasts who are budding mechanics and need to refer to anything related to the fuel systems, which invariably cause the most frustrating and hard to diagnose faults!!

If like me you need to know a little more about motorcycle fuel systems (tuning, repair or maintenance) then this is the book for you, it explains so many intricate details about the entire fuel combustion process, specifically for motorcycle carbs/fuel injection. It's very recent (Y2K), unlike some other Motorcycle Carb Manuals.

Technical data and details are presented clearly, there's lots of diagrams and tips for anything from the oldest, most basic carbs to complex electronic fuel injected systems.

really helpful
this is a very helpful book. lives up to its promise of taking apart the honda civic completely. gives you the confidence and assurance of dealing with the problems of your high mileage honda civic. the book is very well organied too and supported by a very helpful collection of photographs.

Definitive repair guide for Honda Civic
This book is well-structured by system (e.g., fuel and exhaust, engine electrical) and features thousands of actual black and white photos from the cars as well as thousands of diagrams. I found the book invaluable when I owned a 1991 Honda Civic CRX; a must-have for Civic owners.

Great books
Haynes repair manuals are great! They are always detailed and have tons of pictures so you know what they are talking about!

Great stuff!!!
Burger and Hendrickson have done a great job of covering the process of building a hot rod. With their years of experience, wit, and wisdom it makes for a very enjoyable read. Much of the text is obviously culled from the late, great RODDER'S DIGEST magazine, but it was good then, just as it is now. For anyone who is seriously into hot rods, this is required reading.

Hot rodders, restorers, pocket rocket folks...the works!
Okay, I admit, I am not a hot rodder. I like fast, water-cooled volkswagens. The book was a gift. "Great," I thought. "What am I gonna do with this?" It sat around for awhile before I cracked the covers. Good Golly, y'all!! THIS BOOK ROCKS!!

The authors have really distilled auto resto and modification down to were even a nimrod can understand it and envision doing the projects. I can't really speak to the "Model T-this," "Deuce-coupe-that" sort of stuff in the book, but man, the technical stuff about metal-bumping, welding, body work, paint application, suspension modifciation, and other how-to stuff is great. They have put the facts in simple, step-by-step sequences with loads of photos to clarify the procedure. This is the kind of stuff you find in good car magazines, but here, the authors have wrapped into one slick package.

Okay, so it looks a little funny on my shelf with all my euro-car books, but I am not ashamed to own (AND actually to have READ) a copy of Hot Rodder's Bible. My hat is off to the authors. I am sure hot rodders will love this book as much as I found that I did. Believe me, I was determined to not like, or even admit that I owned, this book. Now, I take it to my club meetings and show if off to my buds. I wonder if the authors would ever consider a "Pocket Rocket Bible?"

Author's Notes
This book was designed to be a complete guide to finding, building, and enjoying a hot rod. Chapters include: • A Brief History of the Hot Rod • Finding Your Hot Rod Project • Building a Better Body • The Hot Rod Frame • A Rogue's Gallery of Hot Rods • Hot Rod Suspension Basics • Hot Rod Brakes • Hot Rod Engines and Drivetrains • Hot Rod Interiors • 15 Things to Do With Your Hot Rod • The Ten Commandments of Hot Rodding • Source Guide • Club List

Each chapter includes a section on general information and theory, followed by step-by-step how-to sequences. The "Rogue's Gallery" includes color features on a variety of hot rods.

Slightly outdated but exceptional information
The book is very well written and understandable. The illustrations and photographs are top notch. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking knowledge about cylinder heads and the modification there of. Many of the techniques illustrated in this book can be applied to other types of cylinder heads with favorable results. I would like to see an update to this book that would include porting information on some of the many new cylinder heads and manufacturers that have hit the market since this book was published.

Vizard does it again
As with many of David Vizards books this one exceeded my expectations. It opened new avenues of thought regarding head modifications and then proceeded to explore those avenues thoroughly. Mr. Vizard is one of the few that shares his knowledge in a manner that very few do. To many "experts" under estimate our ability to learn and understand, or else they don't want to go through the bother. Mr. Vizard does so in a very convincing manner. Thanks for all the horsepower, torque, and reliability, David. This book covered porting, hardware, modification in your own shop, and can be utilized to any level you wish. I keep returning to it to advance in my own practice.

A must have item, very thorough and very interesting reading
I have been searching for a book like this for years! It contains everything you need to know to be able to successfully port your own cyclinder heads. David Vizard has done an excellent job of explaining, in a language that most people should be able to understand, the principles of cyclinder head design and how they function. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and all other books David has written (I own all of his books, and not one has disappointed me).

How to Restore Automotive Electrics (Motorbooks International Powerpro Series)

Great Book!
I loved it! The only problem I had was the fact that it showed too many outdated tools. I didn't buy the book for a history lesson in classic repair equipment. The book however did cover most everything else though. Well, maybe not how to update from a generator to an altenator.

I Wish All Books on Machinery Were Written Like This
I wish all books on machinery were written with as much extensive explanation as "How to Restore Automotive Electrics" has. This book answers the "why" question over and over in a very easy to understand syntax. For example, not only does this book tell you that there IS a fixed resistance in series with the primary coil circuit, but it also explains WHY it's there. This book doesn't leave you with many unanswered questions after you read it. It explains the systems very well.

This book is ideal for anyone who is restoring the electrical systems of an older car (approx. 1974 or earlier). All of the systems are covered. Discussions about new vs. old are also addressed. For instance, some the pros and cons of breaker point vs. electronic ignition systems, generators vs. alternators, 6-volt vs. 12-volt, etc.

AN ELECTRIFYING BOOK
OK, maybe not electrifying, but pretty good all the same. Aird does a good job of explaining the electrical basics of our often rusty old friends. Armed with a little electrical theory, a few simple tools, and a trick or two, one can logically tackle any electrical problem. After reading about half the book, I was able to locate a corroded wire in the starter circuit of my 52 Chevy truck: a problem that had been eluding me for months.

If you are looking for a quick fix book, with detailed instructions for specific problems, look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you are looking to learn a little more about the theory and function of auto electrics, which will ultimately enable you to solve problems yourself, give Aird's book a try.

By the way, I loved the pictures of the old instruments.

Second best Fiat repair manual.
This is the second best Fiat repair manual that I have come across. So far, I have read four of them and would rate them in this order:

1. Fiat Official Factory Repair manual for Spider 124.
2. Haynes
3. Autopress Ltd
4. Clymer

I consider the official factory repair manual as the bible for these cars. It offers detailed diagrams, and step by step instruction for practically every nut and bolt on the car. Some companies offer a reprint of this. The negative is the high-cost. Typically, a reprint of this manual (if available) [is very expensive]

Haynes is the manual that I used to take my Fiat apart. It was certainly a good manual with explicit instructions, and good digrams. I did notice on a few occaisions, that some of the information was incorrect. Also, Haynes does not offer a Pinninfarina version for those looking specifically for 1983-1985 specific repairs.

Your local library will likely have a copy of the Haynes manual should you care to review the book in person prior to purchase.

Good luck!

it's a great manual book for fiat 128
it's a great manual guide to re-build your own fiat 128 coupe ...

Perfection
This is my first auto's book i've ever read..so i suggest who owns or love this car should have one.. for their refferences...
Bravo..

Motorku Nomor 1
I have a CB100's and I need more information about it. I think that I use this facility I can find something. My CB100 have a problem in its engine. The OHC (OHC chain) can't work well. That chain frict pistone block and make a hole on it. I try to fix it, but its useless. That chain still frict the block. What can I do?

And about the brake. My motorcycle front brake is not originaly CB100 have. My friend said that its Yamaha's have. But he didn't know what type is it. Its look like old type brake. Its use a cable not a hydrolic which using fluid on it.

So if you have any information or opinion please send to me. Thanks for your attention.

A+++++
Quick shipping and a great product...met and/or exceeded my expectations!

a must have
I'm just a poor college kid who found an old 1972 CB100 at a salvage yard for about a hundred bucks. A guy at the local bike shop let me skim through this book when i had a few questions for him, and I decided I had to own it. I haven't seen a better book about these bikes, in fact, I haven't seen too many books on these bikes period. The brake work went smoothly thanks to this book, and so did the recent carb. rebuild. Though you should have general knowledge before hand, this book is pretty easy to follow. If you own an old CB100 you should definately own this book, and get it quickly before it goes out of print. Besides, if I can figure it out, I'm sure most everyone else can also.
