I've never airbrushed before I got this book, but I feel like I have a head-start after reading it. It explains things very well, like the may types of automotive paint, and demonstrates the use of stencils and freehand sheilds. He even has a computer that he can make designs with! I always thought everything was done freehand. He also explains and demonstrates how to highlight and very effective use of shading and shadows. He even shows how to do a carbon fiber effect. Very cool! I highly recommend this book. Thanks!

This book is one of the best. It motivates a person to paint-paint-paint. This book has great tips, illustrations, directions and good common-sense.

This is one of the best books of it's kind! I absolutely love this book! I've been a fan of Craig Fraser and Jon Kosmoski for years, and they(mostly Craig) have done a wonderful job compiling information and demonstrating various techniques in the field of automotive airbrushing. Though focused mainly on the automotive genre, these techniques can be used in any field of airbrushing!! Craig is one of a kind, and he has been a tremendous mentor to many, and a terrific teacher to "airheads" everywhere. For the price of the book, you will get priceless information! It's well written, informative, and loaded with the coolest tips and tricks!!!

I haven't seen any bicycle maintenance books that come close to providing the kind of detail that Barnett's Manual does - detail in such areas as exact measurement and classification of parts and threads, tool part numbers for many manufacturers, and elaborate torque specifications. The Manual actually consists of four volumes with vol 4 consisting of material extracted from the previous three for easy access. The repairs and adjustments are conducted via written step-by-step procedures. Many of the adjustments utilize self-adhesive markings that are put on the bike for the purpose of exactly increasing or decreasing the tightness of bearing adjustments. Proper torquing is always specified. The Manual attempts to be comprehensive covering both road and mountain bikes and all sorts of groupos. Some of these are covered better than others. The manuals also deal with frame preparation using facing and threading tools. In some ways the manuals are a little dated. For example the wheel building and truing sections use traditioanl rims and spokes, not to mention traditional hubs. But modern wheels are using vastly reduced spoke counts, exotic spoke materials and shapes, and cartridge type hubs. The translation from the old to the new is hardly discussed, if at all. Cartridge hubs in particular are given insufficient weight. On the other hand the adjustment of newer STI derailleur systems is superb, not to mention threadless headsets, V-brakes, etc. The author probably would contend that his manuals facilitate learning the principles of bicycle repair and maintenance and that dealing with new technologies would follow the same guide lines. And there is of course some truth in that. However, a purchaser of these manuals could be disappointed if he or she expects every bicycle part to be covered in detail, becasue they are not.

This book is a weath of knowledge and experence. It covers items that I never have know about and am able to do more work on my bike than ever before. It has detail explinations about how to perform repairs and maintance and will tell you if you need to start with another procdure first before starting the procedure you are about to work on.

If you have ever needed to change a part on your bike, upgrade to something better, change out your drivetrain, tune your derailleur's, or even true a wheel... this is the book for you! With awesome in depth pictures, and step by step technical procedures for doing just about anything to the bike that you so dearly love. John Barnett's experience with bike repairs far surpasses that of the guy that you normally bring it into for those expensive repairs, so spend the money for the book, and save money in the future while at the same time learning from one of the top professionals in his business! Do it, it's an awesome book!

This book is a very good tool for those who are thinking of buying a bike, either for pleasure or for serious exercise. It covers everything from how to find a bike that fits you, to what accessories you really need, to how to plan an exercise program once you get the bike, to how to repair it yourself. And not only is it a good resource, but it's also a pleasure to read! Allen St. John is a funny writer who really enjoys his subject, making the book easy to read and very entertaining- it makes you want to go out and buy a bike the very second you start reading it!

This book has to be the best general guide for cycling. It takes you through all the steps of how to buy the bike that suits you, what accessories to get and what not to waste money on. It also explains how to setup your bike properly before you take your first ride. All in an easy to understand everyday English. I would recommend only to beginners, but veterans may find some useful information as well.

This is the best book I've seen on bicycling. From describing all the different parts and components to accessories to fitting a bike to repairing and fixing basic problems, this book does it all. Covers many aspects of bicycling. Highly, highly recommended! If you are buying your first book on bicycling or if your just want to know more, this is the book for you!

Excellent book and a must have for handyman's and homeowners. Well worth it!

I give this book high marks for clear, concise, step-by-step explanations and LOTS of pictures. Even if you know nothing about carpentry, this book will give you the confidence you need to accomplish anything from small projects right up to major tasks.

If you are already a tradesperson, this book might STILL be good for review. But, if like me, you are a homeowner interested in repairs and maintenance, and perhaps some light carpentry to plane a door, build some storage or the like, this is THE book. Easy to follow, step-by-step comprehensive instructions with clear photos for each important step, lists of tools and fixin's to do the job, it's all there. Lots of projects, easy to use- a reference I won't do without.

This is the book to buy before you read the how-to books.

It presents a concise evolution of the American home, explaining the rudiments of its construction and systems from the timber frame to the postwar eras.

The illustrations are excellent.

Beware, you may be tempted to subscribe to The Family Handyman.

This books explains how a US single family house evolved to its current standard, including structure, plumbing, electrics, etc. The author is both knowledgeable on how things in our houses work and very good at communicating his knowledge to a lay person. Although there are a few "fix it yourself" or "complete guide" books that are good at providing quick solutions, this book will help you understand how some of the solutions work. The book is less than 200 pages and takes only a few nights to read. You will benefit from it for your whole life.

It's like having the 60-year wisdom of a construction foreman and a dutch uncle in your back pocket. I have given copies of this fine book to all my nephews and several friends.

I don't know what the wiring is for an 1988 Buick Century. I also don't have a manuel. I was going to put a cd player in it and I needed to know the wiring fir it.

I need to know that is the maximum voltage from alternator buick century 1991 year.

With lots of pictures, this manual is something I wish I had bought long ago. It helps first-timers do things like change the oil, and hardcore pros overhaul engines and transaxles. It shows how to take apart consoles and such which almost look inpermeable at first. Power antenna on the fritz? It's in here. Need new brakes? It really is not hard, and if fully detailed and illustrated in this book. This is just a really essential tool for you, and is just as valuable as your ratchet wrench.

Being the only restoration guide based on materials from the Chevrolet archives, it is one of the most essential parts identification references available. Information and original part numbers on nearly everything from the wheels to the water pump are explained via well-written text, schematic diagrams, and photographs in 17 chapters (over 300 pages). Vehicle identification and firewall tags are also covered. Engine codes for six engine sizes are thoroughly covered, including the rare 262ci. There are only three complaints concerning the book: the photographs are all black and white, some of the diagrams are rather difficult to read, and paint codes are not covered when the ID codes are explained. However, this restoration guide is a must-have for the serious classic Chevrolet collector.

I work in a full line GM dealership and we have a copy of this and it's worn out from using as help to find parts and to see who's got what for sale when all they can tell you is a casting or part number. This guy did tons of homework on this book BEFORE he printed one.

This book contained the most complete collection of part numbers I have ever seen. Well organized and easy to understand. It will help you identify part numbers, date codes, VIN information, and much more. Well worth the price.

Eleanor and Abel is a delightful story of two people finding love in what the character Eleanor would call the winter of what were very different lives. While the characters may be portrayed a bit too stereotypically, they manage to charm their way into the reader's heart nonetheless. Best of all, the book affirms that romance isn't just for the young, but for anyone, regardless of age. This is a perfect rainy afternoon book that's sure to leave you smiling.

I found this book delightful, even though my husband calls me "little miss literary reader." The story was endearing and the craft was elegant in its unobtrusive, patient, modest way. I gave it to my mother-in-law and my status shot up with her. No violence, no profanity, no gratuitous anything; just fine story about small town lives.

I don't know if I've ever been treated to such a full, rich, endearing story in so few words! Only a couple hundred pages - and yet I felt as if I were visiting old friends for a long stay. I enjoyed this book immensely. But then, I'm rapidly approaching "Miss El's" age, so maybe that's why! :)

Purchased both this book and the Microsoft Press study guide for A+. This was much better. Gave more meaningful explanations. Passed 1st try.

A+ Exam Prep and Cram Pack, 2nd Ed. (Exam: 220-201, 220-202) is a wonderful book to use in preperation for your A+ exam! Sure you can memorize and pass the exam, but it is a totally different situation to be in the real world actually working on computers. A+ Exam Prep and Cram Pack, 2nd Ed. (Exam: 220-201, 220-202) will TEACH you about in the inner workings of the computer! It is a good starting point for the new wanna be techs but it is also a good book to have in the experienced tech library too. Thanks to EVERYONE who had a part in the creation of A+ Exam Prep and Cram Pack, 2nd Ed. (Exam: 220-201, 220-202)!

- Author jumps around sometimes which is confusing
- Author is vague at some points
- There are black & white pictures which, although some vague themselves, help to sort things out

This book is a book which an average person can understand having minimal auto knowledge. Although there are parts where the author jumps around a bit, you can still follow where he's going even if you have to re-read a few paragraphs. Be mindful though, the author talks about both european cars and american, but he'll either only mention european cars in some parts or he'll mention them before he goes on about american cars so don't get mixed up.

Like all Bell's books this one is a good one. It explains how to build a performant and reliable race or street engine.
Explanations are clear but sometimes complexe, as are the phenomena they describe. There are no simplified rules like 'a big valve is a good one', all aspects are analysed to see (dis)advantages of every solution.
Tables give results obtained with described by the author technics. Both US and European engines are described.

This is one of the best books I've read. This book is like the Smokey yunick book of the four cylinder world. Things that are so complicated to understand can be broken down in an easy to understand process. Obviously the author has had quite some experience building different types of engines-as just a bit of everything is put into detail. Great book, want the truth on do's and don'ts? Pick this up.
