This book is a must for anyone considering the restoration of an antique motorcycle. You will be shown strange motorcycle technology that you never thought existed! Jeff Clew does a great job in explaining what manufacturers chose to do why they did it to your bike. You have to give the author credit; explaining British Bike logic is hard to do!

Sometimes the logic is there, and sometimes the logic is lost, but the author makes that point too, and will tell you when and why something was better. If your own motorcycle has a particularly odd bit of technology integrated into a broken part, you're often stuck with what you've got. Jeff Clew explains how to go about setting it right, and points you in the right direction for a top-notch restoration.

The book does not cover any one project from start to finish, and rightly so. That is not the intent. Doing a step-by-step restoration of one bike would actually take away from this book. It would ignore other bikes out there and the reader would lose the great overview that this book describes so well.

So, go elsewhere if you want someone to tell you exactly how to restore your 1914 Douglas from basket to beauty. It will instead tell you what kind of trouble to expect during a restoration project, and help you get a clearer picture of what is necessary to rebuild a classic motorcycle. Sadly, some people just buy a set of Whitworth wrenches and think they can have at it! What they really need is a book like this to give them a dose of reality. Motorcycle restoration is extremely time consuming and takes a lot of patience. This book serves two purposes: It is a beautiful overview of the subject and it is also fair warning for what you might be getting yourself into.

This book is a must have for anyone interested in restoring old cars. The information provided by this book is extremely helpful for those that have a 55 or 56 Fairlane. However, many of the things that it describes for this particular car can be used for many other restoration projects. Not only does it provide information on how to fix the car, but also information on places to find parts (old and new) for the car.

Several years ago I decided to start an oil refinery, and I would never have gotten off my feet without this wonderful book. It illustrates, step by step, where to find the best equipment, how to use it, how to maintain and fix it, and most importantly how to extend its lifespan. I highly recomment it for anyone with an extra $9500 lying around interested in the finer points of oil refining.

For new homeowners or experienced gardeners, this book is filled with simple, ingenious techniques for landscaping with a minimum of sweat, time, and natural resouces. In addition to covering flowers, vegetables, shrubs, trees, and other plant types, the book has a most useful section on lawns and groundcovers. It also includes information on pruning and other techniques. The layout is user-friendly, and the illustrations are plentiful and easy to follow. Nearly everyone who comes to my house asks to borrow this book!

This book hits the mark for anyone looking to create an easy-to-care-for, professional-looking garden that makes the most of your existing soil type, climate and other growing conditions. Helps you design simple to sophisticated gardens, depending on your level of skill and interest.

This is a truly wonderful book that will help you rethink your approach to gardening. The emphasis is on careful planning of your garden design and smart selection of plants, all to save you time and work in the future. The most useful part of the book is undoubtedly the "Picking Unpicky Plants" section, which includes lists of vegetables, herbs, annuals, perennials and biennials, bulbs, trees, shrubs, and ornamental grasses. The last portion of the book is "Easy Projects for the Weekend Gardener," an excellent source for quick ideas for your garden, such as "A Quick Walk," a garden path that can be created in a few hours and won't be overrun by weeds.

Despite its limited availability, this book is a must-have for anyone who enjoys having a garden but doesn't want to spend their every spare moment working on it.

Now we take on that kitchen re-do we've been putting off since we moved in. For those of us who don't live in dream houses with unlimited budgets, most of the do-it-yourself books are just "wish books." This one, though, is as direct and basic as Hazelton's TV show. We especially like the boxes at the start of each chapter that tell you how hard a project is, how much time it will take and what it will cost. The tips on tools, materials and especially preparation are great. Maybe now we can start a project without stopping and running to the home supply store every 20 minutes (and without re-mortgaging the house to pay a contractor to do the work). Excellent couverage of the maintainance and repairs' of Recreaceation Vechicles

This is an excellant reference book for fasteners. It includes information for all standard fasteners for sizes threads etc. as taken directly from the appropriate ANSI Standard. It is a benifit when using a Cad system and drawing in fasteners to check for clearances and interferences.

Another crystal clear Don Casey book. Explains painting, varnishing, surface prep, brushes, solvents, sanding, basic gelcoat, fixing small blisters, painting the mast, applying the name, fixing non-skid surfaces, fixing crazing and alligatoring, and bottom painting. If I screw it up now, it won't be Casey's fault :)!
