You have a Unix server, Windows NT Server, Novell Server,Internet connection, workstations running Windows 95 that needs to loginto several servers and you need a reference book for each type of Server operating system...this is an expensive venture, that was until now.

Ed Taylor has taken great pains to deliver to you one of the most complete Network Reference manuals I have ever seen. His 870 plus page book may be the only one you ever need. Taylor's ability to cover the complex network subjects in a detail yet simplified manner makes this book this administrator's choice.

You'll find ways to manage all your network needs; you'll find information on HP Server, IBM Servers, Ethernet and fiber optic troubleshooting and so much more. Taylor goes above and beyond with an extensive glossary, acronym listing and RFC listings.

From the newly appointed administrator to the season veteran and everyone in between, this book will be a useful desk reference. About the only thing the author may have wanted to include is the Network utilities cd-rom or an interactive practice cd-rom. Overall an excellent buy for the money.

I have not yet reviewed the book but will and maybe even buy it if the book has the information I am looking for.

Wow is all I can say about the book!!

I really enjoyed this book and have read it through several times. I still use it for reference. David writes in an upbeat manner and injects humor and personal experiences whenever possible. There are many sidebars covering relavent topics. As someone who treats their car like their child, I am always wondering if I am "doing right" by my car. This book gives a preventative maintenance schedule and explains why it is important.
A lot of the book is devoted to emergency situations, what to do in case of a blow-out, how to drive in bad weather, how to get out of the mud, etc. This is all good stuff to know and it is not taught in the that little book you study with in preparation for your driver's license exam. David also writes about current topics like avoiding car-jacking and pros & cons of different security devices. It also covers wht you should carry in your trunk for an emergency road kit.
This book is for the not-so-mechanically-inclined, it does not tell you how to rebuild your transmission, but it does cover how to find a good mechanic. It does explain how to do all of the things that an amateur would feel confident doing: checking and inspecting fluids, tire care, getting rid of squeaks, etc. It even gives a brief lesson in auto reconditioning.
In my opinion, even if you are a certified mechanic, you could benefit by reading the emergency situation information. If you are an amateur, you can definately learn a lot by reading this book cover to cover.

Evers' clear and interesting look at the systems of the old house is a must for all old house owners. I greatly enjoyed the book and found it very useful.

When we purchased and moved into our "remuddled" (the previous owners paneled over the fireplace in the living room) 126-year old home, we were completely overwhelmed. My husband and I took turns being stumped by all the things that needed repair. Then a friend told us about this book. I finally have answers to the questions I thought were unanswerable. I can tackle the calked-shut windows, the sagging staircase, and even the holes and cracks in the plaster. On some issues I even know more than the home improvement store people I used to seek out for help.

If you have a pre 1939 home, then you NEED this book. It is the owners manual!

This is the bible for BMW air cooled boxer twin owners. I was blown away by the photos and the extraordinary detail of the text. I have got to go, I am working in the garage! Buy it!

Phillip Porter is a recognized expert on the Jaguar XK series. His book, suplemented by excellent photos, details each version of the car with text and photos. For anyone restoring an XK series Jaguar, the photos are a rich source of originality information highlighting differences between the various models. This book is well worth purchasing.

This is a beautiful oversize full color book that finally display's the TR7/TR8 in the light it deserves. It is well laid out, illustrated , and thoroughly enjoyable. Mr. Piggott should be proud of the fine work he has done. Don't pass up this opportunity to pick up the best TR7/TR8 book you have ever laid eyes on.

I was very pleased at all the ideas and step by step instructions in this book. I wanted to build a cover for my patio and bought this just based on the front cover (had a picture of the type of cover I'm looking for). With great suggestions on what MY patio might need, I'm going forward with my plans! Before this I had no idea where to start. Now I have a good amount of information to make me feel comfortable with drawing up the plans, figuring out my materials list, and starting the project. The photos in here offer some great ideas and really get the creative juices flowing.
