A Great Little Book on the Care of Tokay Geckos.
The Herpetocultural Library is a series of small, inexpensive books dedicated to educating the public on the proper care and reproduction of selected reptiles and amphibians in captivity. The series founder is Phillippe de Vosjoli, and he has authored many in the series, and has recruited the services of other distinguished authors who have particular experience with particular animals. This book is an example of his utilization of two knowledgeable gecko enthuisiasts. The book is small, with 60 pages in total, but richly illustrated and full of useful and fascinating information, on selected members of the Gekkonidae, specifically the members of the genus Gekko, Ptychozoon, and Cyrtodactylus that are commonly imported via the pet trade in the USA. Specifically, the tokay gecko, Gekko gecko, is covered in great detail. The authors do a fantastic job in circumlocuting the information on care, feeding, housing, medecine, reproduction, natural history, and even folklore on these fascinating lizards. It is a must for any gecko pet keeper and enthuisiast. These wonderful animals deserve the best care in captivity, and this book gives a step by step guide to achieving this goal.

Literature saves the lives of pet reptiles
All to often, people buy reptiles without the slightest idea regarding how to care for them. That is where books like this one come into the picture. It tells the reader everything needed to properly house and maintain a healthy tokay gecko (or similar spp.), such as; proper size enclosure, how to heat the animal's home, what and how to feed it, and humidity requirments. An added bonus for me is the information provided on the flying geckos, which are my favorite species.

Great book for tokaygecko owners.
Good book for beginners. Loaded with information pics and much more. Good illustrations.

BUY IT :-)

As a heroin addict I loved this book
As a heroin addict I loved this book, I read it over and over the stories were very real and the information very correct, I highly recommend this book to anyone... esp if you are a family member of an addict, an addict or work in the field of addiction, I myself have spent 28 days at The Betty Ford center, in addition to at least 39 other programs so I have a fair amount of knowledge of the subject and I still learned much from this book.

Rave
The best book on the subject I've ever read. Brilliant, incisive and comprehensive. Highly recommend this book! Great for students, educators or concerned readers.

A very informative and moving book on a timely subject.
I found "Heroin", by Humberto Fernandez, a fascinating read. I especially enjoyed the personal stories. It's an indepth and engaging look at this terrible drug. I really feel it is a useful tool for anyone touched by Heroin. A powerful and important book.

Just what the title says!
Vizard delivers exactly what the title is all about. He helps you balance power & longevity against the pocketbook. He also substantiates his claims with his own companies dyno or flow data. Rebuilds range from a minimum of $600@300hp to a maximum of $3000@550hp. Add some nitrous (he talks about this too) and you have a 800hp engine for under $3500 bucks! Be warned, he is blunt and opinionated but backs up his claims.

incredible author
david vizard is the best performance auther i have ever read. he only relies on things he has personally proven, and he shows you how he has proven it. he doesn't seem to be as oppinionated as other authors. i would recommend reading any of his books

Perfect Gift for Cycling Kids!
"Kids' Easy Bike Care" is a wonderful, thoughtful book authored by Steve Cole. Mr. Cole addresses all of the fundamentals of bike ownership and maintenance, and hass thoughtfully geared the book for the inquisitive youngster (and his or her parents) who is about to begin bicycle riding for the first time. From hand signals to the "five step tune-up", Mr. Cole covers all the bases. Moreover, Mr. Cole responsibly emphasizes the importance of "Safety First!", which is a crucial message that needs to be communicated to every child who sets upon a bike. The text of the book, coupled with clear and informative diagrams and illustrations (drawn by Sarah Rakitin), is easy to understand for kids and adults alike.

I believe that "Kids' Easy Bike Care" is a perfect gift (holiday, birthday, or otherwise) for bike-riding kids -- and I would especially encourage parents to purchase this book both for the novice bicyclists within their family, as well as for their own information. While I learned a lot from reading "Kids' Easy Bike Care" as an adult, I would have found this an invaluable resource as a child still learning to ride and take care of my bike. Great work, Mr. Cole!

Thank you, Steve Cole!
This book really tells you everything you need to know about caring for your bike including repairs, tune-ups, safety tips, etc. As other reviewers have said, it's a great resource for adults and kids alike. Sarah Rakitin's illustrations are both cute and helpful. A great addition to anyone's library!

A Classic!
This book could also be titled "Bicycle Repair for Dummies" and is on a par with that classic book on auto repair. The easy-to-read content includes basic information that every bicyclist (young or old) should know, but that most don't. If you ride a bike, you need this book. Also, the illustrations are superb and greatly help the reader identify parts, discover problems, and perform certain repair and maintenance techniques.

Subscribe to the theory of plenty and read this book
The authors have done a great job creating a guidebook for how to get the most out of marriage while enhancing your own life. It is such a refreshing read. I found myself stopping to reflect on how each section of the book related to how I live my life and interact with my spouse. Further, I found this book also applies to relationships beyond marriage including business and throughout other personal relationships. Subscribe to the theory of plenty, take the risk and read this book, then live it! You will be happy you did!

Is the honeymoon over?..........Read This!
This book brings you down from cloud nine and into the reality of what marriage is really about. Once the honeymoon is over, many couples find themselves struggling to find a comfortable place together, which can be complicated and dramatic. The authors dispel many myths related to marriage and give couples the tools to make it last.

A great resource to conquer or avoid rocky patches
Even if your marriage isn't on the brink, you will gain so much from reading this book. By applying the principals explained by the authors, you could easily conquer (or hopefully avoid) any rocky patches in the road ahead.

The Four-Season Landscape: Easy-Care Plants and Plans for Year-Round Color (A Rodale Garden Book)

Great guide for beginners.
I'm a first time gardener and Susan's book has inspired me to use many of her ideas in my landscape. The book is very informative and the illustrations are great. I recommend the book to all who seek a colorful year in their garden.

A truly helpful reference
This book is arranged seasonally; each season has its own chapter. Within each of these chapters are various charts suggesting trees, shrubs, perennials, etc. that offer interesting features during that season. Some of the chapters break it down further: for instance, the "Spring" chapter has different charts for early spring, mid-spring and late spring.

Near the beginning of the book is a wonderful section on how to put together a "planting pyramid" for four-season interest. (Hint: You don't start with annuals or even perennials, as so many beginning gardeners do.) Additional design principles and suggestions are found after the "season" chapters.

Finally, the book closes with a limited "encyclopedia" of four-season plants which includes some suggested cultivars, cultural details for the plants, what seasons the plant holds particular interest, etc. This section is divided into deciduous trees, evergreen trees, deciduous shrubs, evergreen shrubs, perennials, etc.

In all, even if you don't have time to read all of the text, which is a pleasure in and of itself...this author is a good writer...there is still a wealth of helpful information to be found in this book.

An Excellent Approach to Landscaping
This book has a great approach to landscaping your property. Susan Roth shows how to make the most of your space by creating mixed borders--mixing trees, shrubs, perennials ans bulbs for year-round color and beauty. The idea is to start with a garden's "bones," to create the necessary structure that will make all seasons beautiful. Her plant selection is very good--only plants that provide more than one season make her list. For example a shrub that flowers in the summer, has good fall color, and interesting branches or berries in winter. I have many garden books, but I like Roth's approach and already the view from my kitchen window makes me feel good just to look at it.

Must have repair manual -
Typical Haynes manual -wonderfully detailed "how to do it" A bit of the British terms can be confusing, but the exploded diagrams have saved us time & again. I disagree that this book is just for novices, we have several MG's and a copy always accompanies us in the boot during long trips. If you are looking to put a MG back together - spring for Haynes Restoration Manual by Lindsay Porter. Both will save you hours of headaches!

A Repair Manual for Novices
Fowler and Haynes have done a fabulous job of photographing and documenting the complete disassembly and reassembly of an MGB. Since most parts are identical from '64-'80, it will cover just about everything you need to know about working on your MG. If you are not British then some of the terms can be a bit confusing but you should know the lingo anyway. Or so say the purists. The book is inexpensive enough to buy 2 copies, one for the shop and one for in the house (so you can keep it clean). Just the money I saved in doing my first brake job on an MG paid for the cost of the book and then some. There still is no substitute for having an Abingdon mechanic looking over your shoulder but this is a great second option.

heel goed
heel goed boek, is zeer veel uit te halen voor eigen reparatie

Ortho's Home Improvement Encyclopedia
This is a fine starter book for the first time home owner. In the first few pages, I had the answers to the three major problems I had been dealing with! Nice and straightforward catch-all book on working over existing stuff or putting in new.

If it's not in this book, don't attempt it.
I picked up this book in Home Depot back in 1997. At a glance I found out how to take out a load bearing wall, something I needed to do. I bought the book, and with it I had the confidence to take on a major remodel of my house. The book has everything, from framing an addition to fixing a leaky faucet. I consult it often. Right now (03/2002) I'm using it to build a shed. The language is clear and concise and the book doesn't waste words. I recommend it highly.

Tbe Best Basic Home Improvement Book
I, recently, purchased this boook (my brother said he had one, and it was great). I flipped through most of the book -- it isn't the kind of book you sit down and read straight through. I've done a fair amount of handyman stuff around the house (I just replaced the motor in my dryer - which wasn't too difficult once I had the right parts). Well, as I flipped through the book, I would stop and read sections which interested me. There are well-written sections on, basically, everything about a house and what is in it. After spending about an hour scanning the book, I said to my wife: "You could build a house with the information that is in here!" It is one of those "I'm glad I bought this book" books. A great book to have if you're looking for stuff to do around the house; it is a real "Home Improvement Encyclopedia."

It's an pretty good book
Overall it's an alright book. The author does her best to break down the complex subject, and it reads pretty well. However, her goal is to de-mystify car repair, and at times the writing is so technical it is difficult to follow. The discussion gets very detailed and you wind up thinking there's much more wrong with your car than you could ever have expected.

Yes!
If you know nothing about cars, this is the perfect book to start with! It doesn't teach you how to do complicated repairs; mainly it gives you a thorough explanation of how cars work, and it also shows you how to test how well certain car parts are functioning and how to do simpler procedures like replacing filters and valves.

All I knew before reading this was how to open the hood (and you don't even need to know that--it tells you how.) Now I can scan the mechanics' sights on the internet and see terms like "EGR system" and "oxygen sensor" and not even blink an eye--I know what they are and what they do and it actually makes sense!

The best feature of this book is definitely the way it's written. The author doesn't use analogies to other machines that you don't understand either. She compares different car parts to everyday things like rolling pins and tuna cans to help you understand what they look like and what they do. It makes things infinitely less intimidating and easier to understand. Everything is explained step-by-step and system-by-system, and technical terms are introduced slowly enough that you can absorb them. (You definitely need to have enough patience to start reading at the beginning and work your way through, though, because she builds on previous explanations.)

There are also diagnosing sections in the book to help you figure out what's wrong with a sick car and a maintenance chart to give you an idea when to replace things before they break anyway and cause more expensive problems.

A couple of things this book didn't have that I wished it did were price estimates for commonly replaced parts, photographs of parts (it has drawings instead), and a guide on how to negotiate a good deal when buying a car. A good book to get for those features is Auto Upkeep: Basic Car Care. Auto Upkeep is more the kind of book you can flip through. It has a lot of little tips on diagnosing problems and car maintenance separated from the main text in little boxes. It isn't nearly as thorough in its explanations as Recipes.., though, and even though it has photographs that help a lot in locating parts, I think the drawings in Recipes are a lot more helpful in figuring out the big picture of how the parts actually work. In other words, Auto Upkeep makes a good supplement, but defintely get Recipes for Car Care if you want an excellent, understandable explanation of how cars function!

Two Great Introductory Car Books
Hundreds of basic car care books are out there, but two that I have are excellent: Recipes for Car Care and Auto Upkeep: Basic Car Care. Recipes for Car Care lists basic auto maintenance and diagnosing procedures written in a cookbook type layout. Auto Upkeep: Basic Car Care uses the text with a supporting activity CD to give you step-by-step methods for basic automotive procedures. Recipes for Car Care uses well-drawn line art to illustrate concepts. Auto Upkeep: Basic Car Care uses both line art to illustrate concepts and photos to show car parts (I really like that!). Recipes for Car Care is more for one who wants to diagnosis and repair their automobile, whereas Auto Upkeep: Basic Car Care is more for any car owner that wants to learn more about the automobile, its parts, and car ownership. Both books cover most systems of the automobile (such as fuel, suspension, lubrication). However, in addition to explaining automotive systems, Auto Upkeep also explains the car buying process and automobile insurance basics (such as liability, collision, and comprehensive policies - and what they mean). I recommend that you have both books in your personal library.

Excellent source of clever ideas and tips
While not a comprehensive home repair guide (superficial instructions and difficult to see and poorly labeled photos and diagrams), this book is a useful addition to home repair libraries. When tackling a home repair, the book provides numerious time-saving and result enhancing suggestions on how to maket the job go more smooothly with a higher quality outcome.

This book is amazing.
I have not bought this book...yet. I recently borrowed it from the library, and will keep renewing it until they force me to return it. When they do, I intend on hunting it down at my neighborhood bookstore.

This book is very comprehensive for the do-it-yourselfer that is just starting out, and contains many neat tips and tricks that even the expert handyman would not have known. The book is extremely useful for everyday stuff, and even has instructions on those once a year fix-it items.

The book is arranged in different categories, such as Lawn & Garden, Plumbing, Electrical Appliances, with subcategories like pruning, toilets, and washer/dryer. About half of each page is covered with colorful handrawn pictures that apply to the tips listed. Most tips don't have pictures, but these are usually ones that don't require them. The other half of the page contains detailed instructions on how to replace/repair/install items of importance. These instructions have real pictures of the process, and are wonderful for reference.

I would recommend this book to anyone who owns a home. Once you buy it, read everything once so you'll know what's in there, then put it in an accessible place so you can grab it at a moments notice.

A must for every home owner!!
As a single parent and homeowner, I can't tell you how handy this book has been. If you don't have a friend, relative or spouse who's a handyman, you definitely need this book. I've been able to save enough money to furnish my home. I've purchased many of the Reader's Digest books in the past and found them to be of high quality and excellent value.
